Absolutely fantastic boat trip, lovely staff on board who made the whole experience really enjoyable. We saw whales too which was an incredible experience as it can never be guaranteed, we were very fortunate to see them. We would highly recommend this boat trip and we will do it again next year when we return!

big recommendation. The boat takes about 20 people, so there is plenty of space to be and move around - this brings a good experience. The toilets are clean and the crew is good. At the same time, I felt sorry for the Eco cruises that were full like cattle cars.

Fantastic excursion. The catamaran was beautiful, worth paying the extra 5 euros per person for less people and some cushions on the seats. We lots lots of dolphins, got really close but respectful. The staff were great and the bar services were a nice touch and reasonably prices. Totally worth it. We didnt see any whales, but maybe another time.

Very enjoyable boat trip! Very clean and well organised. We were very lucky to see a large pod of whales close up to our boat with two babies. Amazing experience!

Nice and helpful staff. We saw dolphins and got to swim on the back. You can buy beavages in bord and the ship has a viewing deck.

Perfect afternoon on a smaller catamaran with around 30 persons which I would highly recommend. Guides were very professional and friendly. We managed to see a pod of pilot whales and a turtle. The boat anchored towards the end so we could all swim as well so towels recommended. Paying bar on board which servers a range of alcoholic drinks, cocktails and soft drinks at reasonable prices. We preferred this catamaran to the bigger busier catamaran as more personal and obviously a lot less people.

We had hoped to see dolphins and whales but understood that it might not happen. However, we were thrilled that we got to see dolphins so close to the boat. I’ve never seen dolphins in their natural habitat up close. It was amazing and made me feel very emotional. The celebrity cruise was worth the extra. Less people, more room to move around and generally a more relaxing experience. I also enjoyed being able to have a swim in the ocean before heading back to land. The crew on board were friendly and informative and I would recommend this trip without hesitation.

excellent trip , be mindful to read small print as no snorkelling on 9am trip. We saw flying fish and a whole pod of dolphins, sadly no whales, but greta boat, great staff and worth money.

A bit chaotic at the check in booth but we managed ok, others not so much from what we saw. On board was good, crew friendly, helpful and watchful over some of the youngsters on board. Box ticked for dolphins. Box ticked for swim also. Prices on board were reasonable but meant to ask about the welcoming drink which never happened. Overall, good three hours of relaxation.

Chose Magic Dolphin Celebrity as it has max 25 people. Definitely worth the extra few euros. We reclined on mats and cushions at the front of the catamaran and had a fabulous ride. A large pod of dolphins swam alongside us for a while which was lovely! No other sightings but an interesting tour of the southern coastline and cliffs from the sea.

We had an amazing experience with Magic Dolphin on the Celebrity Catamaran. Everything was perfectly organised from start to finish. The crew was professional, friendly, and made everyone feel welcome and safe throughout the trip. Their knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience even more enjoyable. The highlight of the tour was an incredible pod of dolphins swimming, jumping, and playing all around the catamaran. It was truly an unforgettable sight for both our children and us. Watching them so close in their natural habitat was simply magical. Although we didn’t see any whales, that’s nature, and you can’t expect wildlife to appear on demand. Seeing so many dolphins more than made up for it. Some members of our family usually suffer from seasickness, but thanks to the stability of the catamaran and the calm, well-managed trip, they didn’t experience any symptoms at all. The opportunity to swim from the boat was also a fantastic bonus and made the whole experience even more memorable. We highly recommend Magic Dolphin to anyone visiting Madeira. It was one of the highlights of our holiday and definitely deserves five stars!

All in all it was a good trip. We booked the celebrity boat as there are less people which was really nice as people do rush to the edge to see the whales/dolphins, so it was less crowded for that. With this booking we should’ve received a welcome drink but we did not. Also be careful about the time you book as the 9am booking does not include the sea swim! The staff were friendly and the boat was nice, we saw a the spouting of a whale and some dolphins.

Amazing trip. Very professional and nice staff. Good atmosphere on the boat. The boat is clean and very spacy. We were so lucky seeing a breaching whale and a big pod of dolphins. Special thanks to the captain guilherme and the 2 wonderful guides: ricardo and filipe Most recommended 🙏🏻🌺

What an amazing experience. Boat is incredible. Crew is 6 stars, very friendly and experienced in spotting the dolphins. it was truly unforgettable for my family.

Superb experience, definitely saved the best trip until last this time round. we don’t like crowds as a family so chose this for a 50th birthday celebration and to do the swim. What an experience, the staff were so knowledgeable, it wasn’t busy so there was plenty of space on the boat without feeling cramped. A good atmosphere and the crew were so professional. With 5 minutes of leaving the harbour we saw a loggerhead turtle, flying fish in abundance and the starts of the show some bottle nosed dolphins swimming off the bow! This made our trip, the only thing we will do differently next time is to do this excursion first day with magic dolphin rather than the last.

We where a little disappointed as we didn’t see any dolphins and only 1 whale. But I guess that can happen if you go see wild life in its natural habitat. The boat trip itself was really nice, we where a small group on the catamaran and had plenty of space to sit or lay. The booking also mentioned a welcome drink that we didn’t get and had to pay for the drinks we bought. We got nice information about the whales and the swimming was also refreshing. All in all a nice experience.

Excellent trip with dolphin celebrity

3 hour long, unbelievable experience. Even the view from the ocean, the city of Funchal,the beatifulness of the island, but seeing both dolphin groups and whale Just made it perfect. Great staff on board!

Highlight of the holiday. Tour guides had great knowledge of dolphins and whales, and went to lengths to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. Massive thanks to all tour guides, you made it worthwhile!

We did the celebrity tour and are so glad we did. The numbers of people on the boat were limited to just 25 however, there were less on the boat. The boat was comfortable, clean and we had a spot on the sunbeds at the front. I have to give a big shout out to all of the staff on board - they were warm, welcoming and gave lots of information about the coast of Madeira and the variety of wildlife. They made the talks fun also and had everyone laughing. Moving on to the highlight of the trip - the dolphin and whale spotting! We saw bottle nose and spotted dolphins. The spotted dolphins were so sociable and we had at one point a group of about 10 chasing our boat. The views were incredible! I know this isn't always guaranteed and we were very lucky but the boat trip itself was worth it this was just an amazing bonus! We also saw a bryte whale very close to the boat which was huge and pumped water high out of it's spout, Overall a once in a lifetime experience that are very grateful for. Thank you to all the staff for making it so memorable ☺️

An extremely enjoyable trip with plenty to see. A very lovely crew and helpful back office staff.

Okay, the Mrs started feeling worse for wear ( though not as bad as the German guy feeding the fishes his dinner over the 3 hours), but we both enjoyed the trip. We chose the smaller but slightly dearer - 'celebrity', vessel over the larger eco craft, due to not being as packed, which turned out to be a good move given moving about was required so was easier with fewer people - maybe 20 max. A free drink was also part of the offer. And we got to see dolphins, which was the sole aim. We found the crew very professional, courteous and knowledgeable about the sealife and also places of interest along the coast we passed. The craft - a catamaran, was also spotless, and in very good condition. The three hour jaunt was about the max for us, given the 'spotting' ( but it was a good little session), was only literally 10-15 minutes of the whole trip. I'd only do it again if whale(s) were a distinct possibility - which they weren't on this occasion. It was dolphins at best, but made the trip worthwhile.

Very nice and friendly crew. Clean boat with good washrooms and lots of room to move around. Space to sit inside or outside. No whales or dolphins unfortunately….

It was a lovely trip. We were not packed into the boat. Nice number. We saw pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins. The crew were very kind and were very much into their job. They cared about the people on board and the animals of the sea. Wear sunscreen. Even on cloudy day the sun will find a way.

Well run, friendly staff and they speak multiple languages. Would definitely recommend it if you want to see dolphins. Whales are rare

Had an amazing trip on this catamaran on October 10. Tony gave us a lot of information about the history, the culture and the wildlife of the island. The highlight was of course the dolphins who came out to play with us. They sure were having a great time and putting on a show. Magical. The dip in the ocean afterwards was very refreshing. A big shout out to the whole crew. I've been recommending you to my friends so watch out for them :-)

Excellent! Had a wonderful time. Carla our host was excellent. She is a marine biologist so knows what she’s talking about. Friendly, relaxed, great value. Only 15 on our boat so not at all crowded. Saw dolphins and pilot whales. Highly recommend.

Fun ride, do the swim. We saw a baby dolphin next to its mother. Cute. The water is warm in September and it's easy to float. Wear sunscreen.

The crew were welcoming, friendly and informative from getting on the catamaran to the end of the trip. Excellent information on respect for the dolphins, where we were going into their habitat. I liked the 2 boats at a time only when in the dolphins vicinity.

We visited Madeira in August 2025 and on Wednesday the 6th we booked the catamaran trip with Magic Dolphin. The whole experience was truly unforgettable. Our kids absolutely loved the boat ride, especially getting splashed by the waves, and seeing the dolphins up close was magical. The crew made the trip even more special with complimentary drinks and by sharing their knowledge about the dolphins we encountered. We would highly recommend Magic Dolphin and will definitely book with them again on our next visit!

Magic Dolphin Celebrity tour was amazing. Smaller boat which was good. But it’s more the way they respect the dolphins and give them space and let the dolphins come to you if they choose to. Unfortunately for us they preferred another boat the day we went but we still saw them in their own natural environment. The guys onboard were very knowledgeable and looked after everyone, would book with them again

We really enjoyed the trip pleasant guide and friendly crew. Nice refreshing drink and stunning view . We managed to spot some whales but unfortunately no dolphins this time.

Great morning watching the dolphins being very sociable around the boat. The team on board were great, even extended the trip slightly so we could get to see the dolphins. Choose this particular tour because of size of catamaran which was lovely and friendly group.

Brilliant trip on the catamaran today, it was a surprise for my daughter and we saw lots of stripped dolphins. Our guide said it was the best display he had ever seen.

The Celebrity Luxury catamaran cruise was excellent. It is only a few euros more than the regular, much larger "Eco" cruise, but well worth it, on a smaller ship and with far fewer people. You are closer to the water. There was no difficulty at all in finding a shady or sunny spot, even under way. The crew were great, providing timely pointers on dolphin location, boat safety, information on sea life and just a fun attitude. The crew coordinated to find dolphins and after a short while they did. We saw several members of a large group. Some of the dolphins socialized right in front and to the side of our ship. We did not see whales. But the cruise experience exceeded our expectations.

It was a very nice trip on an excellent catamaran. Very friendly staff. We got a free drink on the boat and there was much comfort. We saw a lot of dolphins. We enjoyed it very much.

Fantastic day out with a great crew who are clearly very passionate about the local wildlife and their island. My daughter felt a little sea sick and the crew were very attentive, checking she was okay throughout the tour. Although we didn't see many dolphins or whales (you can't force nature) we still had a fabulous time and the scenery throughout the tour was breathtaking. Thank you to all!

We wanted a smaller boat and this was exactly what the “celebrity” boat trip advertised and delivered. The staff were friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. They also explained the protection rules around sailing near the whales and dolphins, which are well considered and were followed by all the boats in the area - all in all we had an absolutely amazing trip and got very lucky with a large school of dolphins being in the area we went too, couldn’t have asked for more!

My friend and I booked the Celebrity Magic Dolphin trip because of the limited number of people on board and we weren't disappointed There was plenty of room to make ourselves comfortable, the catamaran was clean and tidy and the crew friendly and knowledgeable. From the outset it was explained that there was no guarantees we would see dolphins but we were fortunate enough to see a pod that travelled in the bow waves , giving us a lovely display . The crew were informative about the different types of dolphins and also emphasising not to visit captive dolphin shows ( if anyone was still tempted to do so ) . The place for these beautiful creatures is in the wild . There was time for a quick dip in the sea before traversing the coast back to Funchal , with points of interest being pointed out along the way . All in all , well worth the money and a lovely afternoon out .

We booked on the Luxury Magic Dolphin trip, the catamaran was clean, had two plunge flush toilets and a small bar for buying drinks (although we got given a drinks token each!) We were able to sit out on the lounge area at the front of the boat for the trip. The guides were great, always checking in on everyone and very knowledgeable about marine life, and passionate about looking after life in the ocean. We saw two groups of dolphins, which was amazing! We didn't expect to see any whales anyway, but maybe you'll be lucky and they'll be in the area for your trip! We did stop for a little swim, which was super nice. Definitely recommend this company, we had a great time!

Great boat trip with Magic Dolphin on their smaller celebrity boat. Staff very friendly and we enjoyed chatting to Nuno about the island. Managed to see loads of dolphins and plenty of space on the boat to move around during the trip. A great boat trip that we will do again when we return to the island.

Great trip! The boat was clean and comfortable and the staff were lovely. We enjoyed hearing from Clara about the wildlife, although unfortunately we didn't see anything on the day we took the trip. We still had a nice few hours on the water and would recommend this trip for anyone wanting a quieter experience with less people on the boat.

Saw dolphins. Drank cold beer. Sunny day and calm ocean is all you need to have a great relaxing trip. Amazing. 10/10 experience.
