Half Day Jeep Safari Tour At Pico Areeiro And Santo Da Serra

Good experience, informative guide ( Jesus) friendly and took time to take us around. Weather wasn’t great so he took us to alternative locations.

Viewpoints were varied and breathtaking, there was ample time to see each one, and driver / tour guide Jaoa is amazing — kind, friendly, informative, and super accommodating!

This trip sadly didn't live up to expectations. The jeep arrived to collect us and we were told we could choose our seats except for the front as someone had reserved that. The jeep was rather elderly, some of the trims were damaged/broken and the interior didn’t feel overly clean. We picked up another 4 passengers so every seat was taken. It didn’t feel particularly comfy. The weather at the 2nd highest point was poor with thick cloud so we saw nothing. Very disappointing as the company knew this was the case before setting out. The guide while being very pleasant didn’t really share much as we travelled around. The stop at the santo de Serra was a free park that had a couple of peacocks and some deer in a pen. While it was pleasant to walk around - even though it was raining - it wasn’t anything special. The off-road element was a shortish road - steep in places - with trees on either side. Not particularly impressive. The whole trip felt an anticlimax compared with the promotional material.

On our first trip to Madeira we wanted a tour that would show us a bit more than the city of Funchal and we were not disappointed. We were picked up on time from our hotel and spent the next 4+ hours touring around. We made a few stops for views and ata park for refreshments. Guide was very open and friendly with lots of local knowledg of the island. We were then dropped off at a location of our choosing. Great way to get to know a bit more of the island, especially on our first trip.

We had to change the date for jeep tour to 12/12/2025 and Discovery Island Madeira couldn’t have been more helpful. On the day Beto collected us at our hotel on time and despite the awful weather we had a great experience with him. Beto’s English was perfect and as well as being informative about Madeira he was interested in Scotland and we enjoyed chatting with him. We’ve been several jeep trips in the past but we went to places we’ve never been so a lot was new to us. We got soaked, blown along in wind, encountered hail stones and couldn’t see through the clouds but it was still a great trip. Highly recommend Beto at Discovery Island Madeira

The four of us visited Madeira for the first time for a long weekend and wanted to see as much as we could. The hotel booked us a private half day tour and thankfully we got Carlos the driver. Nothing was too much trouble and he knew exactly the kind of places we wanted to go and some amazing extra stops. The transport was comfortable- even on the funny roads! We saw so many amazing spots and nothing was too much trouble for Carlos who was absolutely amazing. He kindly dropped us at an unscheduled restaurant where the excellent hospitality continued. We had a most enjoyable tour up to Pico Areeiro with our guide Michael. His enthusiasm, good nature and great knowledge about the island really made the Trip . The views of the mountains actually above the clouds and the variety of trees and plants to be seen were spectacular. We were also impressed by the efficiency of the local agents, Island Discovery who quickly answered any question from us. Just one note , we made just three stops with 15-20 minutes at each stop. An extra 5 or 10 minutes at the first two would have been good .

Excellent Tour that exceeded all of our expectations. Everything was top-notch, easy, and super fun from pick up to drop off. Our guide Miguel was not only extremely informative but also incredibly personable and overall he just made the afternoon a total blast. Strongly recommend.

Fantastic tour with Gil, very knowledgeable about the island and great views. Small group was lovely too, could ask as many questions as we liked. The off roading section was particularly fun. Would highly recommend as a way to pass a few hours.

We enjoyed a nice tour in a jeep with another couple from Czechia. Miguel, our guide, was very professional, told us a lot of information about all parts of Madeira, not only the places we were going through at that time. He was very funny, and basically gave us freedom in terms of when we wanted to move on to the next stop in our tour. After our lunch, we had an opportunity to visit a local producer of cider. Next we continued with a little bit of off-road ride, followed with beautiful views around the local steep hills all of that accompanied with interesting, educational and entertaining talk from Miguel. This trip was definitely a nice conclusion of our stay at Madeira. We can 100% recommend that. Jarek + Lida
