Funchal & Monte: Private Sidecar Tour With Toboggan Stop

Great experience. We had to postpone due to rain and Bia adapted the route to suit us. Great views, informative guide. Would definitely recommend.

Picked up, on time, from our hotel by the lovely Beatriz who spoke amazing English. Safety helmet and vehicle were spotless. Fun ride out. Nice stop for coffee before being dropped off by the Monte church & gardens.

Tino our driver arrived to pick us up next to our ship The Iona. We arrived early and Tino was already there which I must say impressed me. He is a lovely friendly guy with lots of knowledge about the island. A be very competent driver been around bikes his whole life (he also services them for company) which made us feel very safe. We swapped positions with me going on pillion for a while too. He took lots of photos of our trip and sent them to us the same day. We were collected from our hotel. Our driver and guide, Nuno was fabulous. We all had helmet mikes so we could clearly hear him as we travelled around. His English was very good. We had already 'done' the tourist Funchal ourselves so we requested to go west so see a bit of the true Madeira. We made several stops and Nuno kindly took photos of us which have been emailed to us free of any extra charge. It was a lovely safe experience and we would happily book again and request to see something different.

It’s great fun. We had an opportunity to go to the other side of the island to see some stunning views. Definitely a nicer way to sightsee. Nuno our tour guide/driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. Pick up and drop off from the cruise ship. Would recommend and will do another tour if we are lucky to return to Madeira.

Great couple of hours on the road with Nuno. A unique and fascinating way to see the area outside of Funchal. Stunning hilltop viewpoints and a chance to try out the small windy roads in the local villages! A superb experience. Nuno was friendly, helpful and informative. Excellent timely communication from Filipe when making arrangements for the trip. You’ll be in very safe hands!

Excellent, unique way to experience Madeira. We did the west of the island on a beautiful sunny day. It is excellent value for money and comes with its own knowledgeable driver. It is comfortable, interesting and a different way to explore everything that Madeira has to offer.

We had the best time driving around with Beatrice, who was a wonderful guide answering our many questions. I rode in the sidecar and my husband on the bike. Beatrice showed us some wonderful views, took our photos and introduced us to Poncha! The drive was lovely and very safe and comfortable. We fell in love with Funchal and intend to come back. It’s a great way to see some beautiful views without the crowds.

This was one off Chris’s bucket list! Great experience saw lots and or rider Tino was very friendly! Anyone who gets a chance should do it!

Thoroughly enjoyed our couple of hours touring part of Madeira with Luis as our driver and guide. The weather was very kind to us and we got a fantastic experience of motoring along the beautiful countryside while Luis gave us commentary about the area. He was very obliging in making sure we had a great experience and making us feel welcome. We drove to the top of the island and stopped at a local bar/ restaurant for magical views and a wonderful poncha, the local rum drink made with lemon and honey, wow! We had a thrilling scoot down the mountain and along the main highway back to Funchal where we left Luis before heading back to our ship. Brilliant day! Thank you

This was such good fun, Filipe was just the best, appreciated that i was a motor cyclists so that made an instant connection that made the trip the highlight of our cruise.

We had the BEST time on this tour! Our guide gave us details of the city, took us to some amazing viewpoints and took a ton of photos of us while we drove around. He picked us up and dropped us off right at our cruise ship! Do this tour if you’re looking for a fun experience!

We joined Joe for a 2 hour tour of Madeira. I sat behind Joe and my friend settled into the sidecar. Joe was a very knowledgeable, friendly guide who clearly loves the island and is happy to share its delights. We visited Camera de los Lobos then drove up into the hillside for a coffee and Poncha stop at a local cafe with fabulous panoramic views. I would highly recommend the tour. It was very well organised and we saw so much more than if we'd just done a bus tour. It was great meeting Joe who shared so much about local life that we just wouldn't have got from a bus tour. The bike was a stunner-a very comfortable ride. One tip I would give future guests is to wear long trousers and a jacket as, even on a sunny day, it got quite chilly up in the hillside. Joe was kind enough to drop us in town by the market at the end of the tour. Excellent tour! Thanks Joe

Great tour from our cruise ship around the high viewpoints with a commentary via headset and stops for photos and refreshments. Tino was an excellent driver and guide. Highly recommended.

The motorcycle and sidecar tour of part of the beautiful island of Madeira was amazing. Nuno was a superb guide and character, taking us up to some of the most special viewpoints on the island. His commentary whilst riding the bike kept us well informed. This trip is highly recommended for people who want to do something different, particularly those previously may have rode motorcycles. Must do it again when in Madeira.

Amazing trip thank you. The sights and smells you wouldn’t get on a coach. We had an included tour with our cruise line which we didn’t go on, we didn’t want to mar or dilute the experience we had in the morning. Thank you keep up the good work. This is a must do for anyone!

We had a great tour with João. We skipped downtown and went straight up into the mountains. The scenery was gorgeous and the ride itself was really fun! We stopped at a cafe to try poncha, the traditional drink of Madeira, which was very tasty. João took tons of pics for us and sent them the next day which was much appreciated. Highly recommend this tour!

The whole experience was fantastic. Our driver Tino was great and very informative. As ex bikers it was a trip down memory lane for us. The scenery was great as was the cliff top sky walk experience. Would highly recommend this tour.

This is a must. Dad (he is 87) and I were on a Cruise - we were met immediately by Luis and it was the most fantastic tour I have ever taken. It was so much fun. Luis is so full of knowledge regarding Madeira and the surrounding area. I would not hesitate in recommending this tour. PS... the other cruise visitors were soooo envious when we told them what we had done and where we had been.

Myself, son and his best friend viewed Madeira by sidecar. We had the BEST time. The guys took us to a local cafe, showing us the most amazing views, taste the local snacks. Educating us about the Island, all the way. They were so kind and really lovely to hang out with, on this excursion, we didnt want it to end. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The company was top notch to work with- we received a welcome email from owner (after booking) with concise instructions, bike/sidecar in great condition, uniforms and follow up email with bonus surprise. The ride itself was our first of its kind (ages 62 and 54) and I would definitely recommend. What a great way to see the sights! Our guide Nuno was very informative and a genuinely good guy- we felt safe and comfortable the whole time. When we come back to the island, which is a must- we will definitely book them again.

Just an update to my previous review. I have now received my photos from Filipe. He sent them straight after our tour but I had a problem with my email and wasn't receiving them. Thanks again Filipe for your patience sending them and thanks again to Nuno for a brilliant tour. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will definitely do it again when we are next in funchal.

Great day with Filipe who picked us up from the hotel. Rather than do downtown which would be busy he suggested we go off into the mountains on the west side. We stopped at various places for photo opportunities. Filipe was wry informative, friendly and accommodating. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

If you are looking for something different and exciting to tour the island of Madeira this is must. Great company to deal with responding to all emails promptly together with providing the great Nuno our driver. You can reach great heights and views as opposed to the normal touristy things here. Don't forget a jacket but we have just got back and have a real buzz from the trip

A fantastic way to see the island by night. Nonu was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the island. He was very chilled and didn’t rush the tour and was happy to drop us off directly outside our restaurant. Loved every minute! Would thoroughly recommend and can’t wait to do it all over again!

It was our first experience on a sidecar and Nuno has been a wonderful guide. He knows a lot about Madeira history and has tons of good adresses to share. I would definitely recommend this agency to anyone looking for a nice overview of Funchal as well as nice spot views of the city. We have been very impressed by their professionalism.

This is such an amazing and fun way to see the city of Funchal. We booked the 'downtown' tour which is normally done after dark, but Madiera Sidecar Tours allowed us to tailor it in order to do it during the day. We arrived at the designated meeting point at 10:30am and were met by our guide Nuno on a fabulous Ural motorcyle and sidecar combination. My wife and I took it in turns to ride at first in the sidecar and then pillion and Nuno transported us safely and expertly through the fantastically steep and narrow roads of Funchal. We own a motorcycle and sidecar outfit ourselves so we know how much fun they are, but it was even more fun to have someone else do all the hard work and Nuno did that brilliantly. This is a highly recommended tour – do it, you won't regret it!!

All wishes fulfilled! It goes without saying that this trip was something special;). I had a great outing with Bea, was allowed to visit the garage by special request, was bundled up warmly because I had forgotten my jacket in all the excitement, was allowed to decide what I wanted to see and where and how long we would stop, had great conversations, funny moments, wonderful photo opportunities, and a chauffeur who really knows her stuff! Our guide and driver Filipe allowed us to have an exceptional day in a sidecar with my wife. His friendliness, professionalism, and very good knowledge of Madeira allowed us to learn a lot about the island, with breathtaking landscapes and an ideal route tailored to our wishes. Even with more than 46 years of motorcycle experience, I loved the passenger seat just like the one in the sidecar. This is an experience that I highly recommend to anyone hesitant about it, as it is truly worth it! Without a doubt, this was our most beautiful day in Madeira. A big thank you to Sidecar Tours...

Experience géniale avec notre guide Nono très sympathique et parlant français, qui nous a faut naviguer de Funchal à Camara de Lobos puis retour en centre ville et dépose à Monte pour le jardin botanique. Très bonne conduite, sécurisante pour les passagers. Beaucoup d’explications tout au long du trajet avec des bons conseils en plus pour profiter de la capitale (restaus, bars).

the visit of Funchal in 1h40 by sidecar allows to be operational very quickly and save time for the rest of the stay. we were a group of friends of 5 people with 3 sidecars , everything is planned , indeed the headphones incorporated in the headset as well as the microphone allow to talk with the driver and thus have all the information of the visit in French! Philippe even sent us by email all the photos as well as a video montage of our course before our return to France , it's super pro! Thank you again to this team for their original tour formula!

Nono and Filippe were perfect from booking to sending the photos of the trip. For 2 hours (for 60€) we visited Funchal and its surroundings with magnificent views, all explained in French! Final bouquet: the sunset over the mountains. A great excursion to rest kilometers of hiking covered:) We recommend 100%!!
