Full-day Porto Moniz Madeira Island Tour

Excellent tour and superb insight provided by tour guide Paulo. He gave us great detail about island life, how Madeira has changed in his lifetime, and the impact that change has had - a nice mix of historical fact and social/cultural history.

Had a wonderful tour of western Madeira. with our driver Romero. He did a marvelous job. of showing us this magnificent island and answering all of our questions. Highly recommend.

Mixed thoughts on this trip. You get a snapshot of lots of different places but some are better than others, we loved Camara de Lobos. For us, this looked like the best place and we would have loved to have spent more than 20 mins here. The skywalk at Cabo Girao is ok, a bit underwhelming. I was expecting it to be a bit bigger than what it was. Ribeira Brava was not bad, the fanal forest was also underwhelming. Maybe it’s something that looks better when the mist is present and low which it wasn’t whilst we were there. Porto Moniz was nice. We had lunch in the restaurant near the pools which was lovely and very reasonable, we didn’t swim but if you want to then you will love this place. The Brides Veil waterfall is ok but again, I’ve seen better. And there wasn’t really anything much to look at in Sal Vicente. But the best thing about the tour was Marco who was amazing. Very funny and entertaining and so informative about Madeira, the history, its people, everything, we learnt so much from him.

Full Day Tour West Of Island with our guide Romero was an excellent day out. He was very thorough in explaining all the sights we were seeing and stopped at additional places se we could see more views of Madeira. The stops on the tour were all accompanied by a detailed explanation of what we would be seeing and an insight into the background of each place which was very welcome. We enjoyed all the stops along the tour but with the Porto Moniz stop being the only one we didn't get full value of for the only reason we aren't swimmers so didn't take full advantage of what looked like a fantastic location to have a dip. We also ignored Romero's advice regarding the restaurant to eat in and chose a very average overpriced tourist trap, we will listen to you next time . Overall it was an excellent trip and we wouldn't hesitate to book with Spot Madeira Travel the next time we come to Madeira. Many Thanks John & Jo

The whole day was superb, we had Tony as our guide/Driver, he was very knowledgeable, funny and a very safe driver. A long day but you fit so much in,, so much to see and it wasn’t rushed, it was a nice relaxed tour. Would recommend.

A really great trip. Our guide, Robert, was very knowledgeable and imparted a wealth of information about Madeira. The tour was well-organised and ran to time and it was great to be in a small group. The stop at Porto Moniz was quite long if you didn't swim.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the island. Be prepared to learn a lot!! When you get out to the hike, the trail had very fine, red dirt that will get all over your shoes so best to bring tennis shoes to change into.

I recently traveled to the lovely island of Madeira. Our trip included two tours, one of the West side of the island and one of the East side. We were fortunate to have Marco as our tour guide for both excursions. Marco was such a wonderful tour guide. He was knowledgeable, funny and welcoming. You can tell when someone loves what they do and where they are from. That is Marco! One reason for going to Madeira was to see and hike the Stairway to Heaven trail. Although this was not included in our package, Marco made it happen for us. Although there was a slight hiccup on that tour and we unfortunately were not taken to the Stairway to Heaven (no fault of Marco's) he made it right and actually took my friend and I himself! The tour was friendly and informative. We were given lots of time to do things on our own as well as all of the guidance we needed.

We booked our Madeira trip through Portugal Getaway and got lucky with Marco as our guide for the first two days of East and West Island tours. With 28 years of local experience, he knows everything about Madeira: history, culture, hidden gems. He made the first two days fun and informative. We came to Madeira mainly to hike the Stairway to Heaven. I'd been researching this trip for years. Marco was so helpful that we asked him to arrange a hiking tour, so he booked one through another company. The hiking group had about 20 people, led by Oscar. On the way, people asked if we were going to the Stairway. He said yes. But when we arrived on top of the mountain, he said no. Oscar lied to us, he said it was four hours away, but in reality it was only ten minutes away from where we were on the mountain. We were pretty disappointed. After years of planning, we missed the main attraction. We finished the hike and went back to the hotel. When I told Marco afterward, he was shocked. He offered to take us on a private tour the very next day so we could finally see the Stairway to Heaven. That meant a lot. Marco turned a disappointing situation into a highlight. Big thanks to Marco and his company, Spot Madeira Travel. If you're visiting Madeira, I highly recommend them. Their guides genuinely care. We're so grateful Marco made all the difference.

Despite the rain and rather rough weather, our west tour with Spot Madeira Travel turned out to be a really beautiful experience. I was travelling with my wife and my mother, and from the first moment we felt completely comfortable. Our guide Marco was excellent. His explanations were fluent and multilingual — during the tour he switched naturally between English, German and French — and he shared a lot of information and entertaining stories about everyday life on Madeira, the island’s history, nature and even some economic facts. He also had an answer to almost every question we asked. Almost… except one. The answer to that one, apparently, is 2.5 million fish. At one point the weather got so heavy that we couldn’t really stop at the Fairy Forest as planned. Marco immediately suggested a nice alternative stop, which worked out perfectly. Small moments like that showed how experienced and flexible the tour was. Marco also mentioned that many of the tour operators and guides on Madeira know each other well and work together in a very friendly, almost family-like way. You can actually feel that harmony during the tours. And it seems Spot Madeira Travel has built exactly that kind of spirit into their team. This was my third time on Madeira and it certainly won’t be the last. Next time we come back, we’ll very happily book another tour with Spot Madeira Travel. Take the tour — I’m quite sure you won’t be disappointed.

We recently had a trip to Madiera with Mr.Marco Polo from Spot Travels. This was a 6 day trip and we had an absolutely splendid time which started with picking us from the airport and then dropping us back to the airport to catch a flight to London. We were greeted by Mr Marco Polo, who was extremely courteous, kind and very, very helpful and very knowledgeable. He had about 27 years of experience being the expert at helping people understand Madiera and Funchal had to offer. He was very, very gentle with the kids, and we could actually see him going the extra mile for everything that we had to do starting from picking us up at the start of the tour from the hotel to ensuring the kids had their jackets and the seat belts on, to booking our place for lunch, because he knew how busy it gets, ensuring that we had the best meals at the best places and we saw everything that we could pack with us in the six day trip that we had. Would highly recommend Spot Travels, especially Mr.Marco Polo. He was very very nice, pleasant and patient. Whenever we go there next, we would definitely want to travel with him. Antoni was both the driver and tour guide. Very nice and professional and good sense of humor. The issue was the van. I probably had 7 inches from the edge of my seat to the next row. I’m 5’9” and I couldn’t get my left leg (non-aisle) leg comfortable due to lack of room.

Great trip, we saw a lot of the island, and the driver was attentive and solicitous. He told us a lot about the history of Madeira island, answered all our questions, showed us the best views, proposed great places to eat and was all around very nice. Amazing experience

My husband and I travel a lot for his work, and we are always responsible for organizing our family trips, so we really appreciate not having to think too much for transport and appreciate reliable, great service during holidays. Marco and Spot Madeira were exactly that. We booked for a private tour for 7-8 people two days all around the island, plus a hotel transfer. We used them with a different driver for a smaller half day trip and the final airport transfer. This company is super easy to book with, incredibly responsive, and very reasonably priced compared to other options, especially if you have a big group - private transfer is the absolute best way. We learned so much about the islands flora, fauna, and history, it felt like we were inside a fun documentary and viewing the island develop through his eyes over his lifetime. He is so fun to talk with, but also he knows when everyone is tired when to just cruise and appreciate the peaceful ambiance. He has been doing this for 27 years and knows probably everyone and everything on the island, so you are certainly in the best hands. Thank you Spot Madeira for being so reliable and providing great vehicles, service, and drivers. Thank you Marco for being the absolute best of the best, adding that extra special human touch that made our trip SO special and memorable for everyone! A cracking whistle-stop tour to the west of Madeira incorporating all the main hotspots. Marco was a great guide, chatting to us and our French co-travellers throughout, translating our tales and his location descriptions constantly. It made the full day seem just a short journey. I would recommend these tours to anyone it was amazing! We did the West Coast tour and it was absolutely beautiful. Our tour guide was Marco and it definitely would not have been as good without him! He was giving all sorts of information and was really nice and friendly, also had great humour! Definitely the best day of our holiday and I’d love to do another tour again

I booked this tour because i thought it covered the 3 places i wanted to visit. It was a full day tour. However i found out that the stops wernt actually an hr at each place but mostly photo stops. Porto moniz cama de lobos and warerfalls. The itinarary was quite clear! However at first i was refuseda refund once i put the pressure on i got my money back. Be careful wen booking these tours that they are actually wat they say they are. I didnt go !

This was a fantastic tour! We saw so many beautiful areas on the West side of Maderia Island. All the stopping spots we well timed and organized. We swan in the natural pools at Porto Moniz, explored the Fanal Forest, the Sky Walk was amazing and those are just a couple of the stops during the full day. Tony our guide was awesome. Knowledgeable and fun and an excellent driver on some pretty windy roads. We appreciated the small group size and comfortable mini van.

Marco, our guide was absolutely brilliant. He would show us all the best in Madeira during both full day trips. We were excellently taken care of and we were travelling with Erasmus kids. I would recommend the trip.to everyone

Very good experience for this day. Top pickup near our accommodation. There were 8 of us in the group. Marco, the guide, is available to answer our questions and teaches us a lot about the island, its people, its fauna and flora during the day. I was a little afraid that the stops would be too short but in fact we have perfect time to discover things. Du. Oops we stack with them for the east side.

After a few start difficulties, subject of the pickup everything worked out well. The agency acted quickly and took me to the tour bus. On the Skywalk I landed on the right bus and from that everything was great. I highly recommend the tour, you get to see a lot. It was a minibus with 16 passengers.
