We’ve been coming to Madeira and touring the island every year for thirteen years and this was one of our best ever trips. Roberto, is an engaging and very knowledgeable guide. His Mercedes Benz electric vehicle is both luxurious and quiet making travelling a joy. We toured the eastern section of the island, starting with an ascent to Pico Ariieiro some 6,000 feet high, followed by numerous stops to enjoy spectacular viewpoints and many beautiful flora. Lunch in Santana where old A-framed houses still stand was enjoyable. Our final destination was on the eastern tip of the island at Ponta de São Lourenço where the high cliffs and sea views are wonderful. Can recommend Madeira Electric tours without hesitation.

This tour sets itself apart from the others by caring about its clients and ensuring they truly enjoy the day! Roberto was very informative and friendly. He even came by our hotel to get us where other tours would only meet us at a bus stop which we were unfamiliar with since this was our first trip to Madeira. Six stars!

We had a very informative and pleasant day with Roberto and the other four passengers. When the road was closed due to an event occurring at Pico Areeiro, he quickly pivoted and took another route. Very upbeat and organized, the van was very comfortable, driving was excellent, and he nimbly switched from speaking Italian to English, including all of us. He even picked us up at our hotel vs the previous tour who had us go to a bus stop we weren’t familiar with. He was very knowledgeable and after the tour, gave us an authentic, local dinner place to try for dinner. Definitely worth the money and highly recommend !

We did a trip with Roberto from Funchal to explore the east of Madeira. Roberto is an excellent tour guide who takes absolutely care of his guests. We saw more than expected and received a lot of information from Roberto on flora and fauna of Madeira. And we learned a lot of the history and development of the island. We do more than recommend this tour. This is a must for any visitor of Madeira.

This has to be one of the best holiday day tours we have done in a very long time. Roberto was an excellent guide with an extensive knowledge of the island and its flora & fauna. As a small group tour we were able to take the tour at a relaxed pace to suite us so that we never felt rushed. The vehicle we were in was new, spotlessly clean and with being an EV made it so much easier to hear Roberto’s commentary. Would not hesitate to recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Eastern Madeira with our friendly guide Roberto. He is very well informed and happy to answer all our questions. He gave us plenty of time at all the stops, never rushing us and booked us in for lunch at a lovely restaurant in Santana. He escorted us to all the viewpoints pointing out areas of interest & giving local info. As the vehicle used is electric, it made for a very smooth journey and was very comfortable to travel in. Fantastic day out on this private tour. Quiet,smooth, eco-friendly ride. Roberto is very knowledgeable about both Madeira and it's flora and fauna. We were taken to some outstanding view points and an excellent restaurant for lunch. Roberto knew when places would be at their quietest and planned accordingly. We only wish we had discovered this Tour Company earlier! Roberto, our guide and driver, was very knowledgeable about all the history, flora, and culture of this beautiful island- Madeira, PT. The East Coast was amazing. Picturesque can hardly describe it. The Pico do Arieiro, Ribeiro Frio (hike), and Ponta de Sao Lourenco were breathtaking. Santana was ok-not my fave. Roberto speaks many languages & was very entertaining. We all had fun. The Mercedes van was comfortable. We were fortunate that the weather was also wonderful. Roberto took us to a lunch spot near Ribeiro Frio that was fantastic. We had beef and tuna skewers with sides of sweet potatoes- omg delicious. In summary it could not have been a better day. Best day in Madeira! Roberto was the quintessential tour guide! His driving was gentle, calm and safe! He always encouraged us to take our time at all the stops and guided us as to the best way to navigate the sites! We spent a full day on our tour, and it was well worth the price! Our guide was very personable and made the experience great overall! Very knowledgeable, recommended some fantastic places to eat, and we had some wonderful conversations with him. Madeira is gorgeous and breathtaking no matter where you go, but our tour took us up into the highest peaks of the island where the views were absolutely stunning. Some of the stops had a lot of people and tough parking situations, so it was very nice to have someone experienced and knowledgeable to navigate the roads. Based on our experience, I would say the tour is best enjoyed by groups of adults, whether family or friends. Not to say that it would be bad to bring kids, but adults will get the most out of the stops and the banter with the guide.

It was an amazing tour! Roberto is very pleasant and professional. First , his car was nice and clean and in great condition. He drives well and safely, while he’s able to explain and educate us about the places we went. He doesn’t rush us and he makes sure we enjoy the trip . It’s a great tour . We were able to visit the Triangle houses . We also went to Maduoro and hiked a little bit. And he gave us a tour of Funchal neighboring beach and town. I highly recommend Roberto’s tour . Roberto has lots of plant knowledge. Steady drive in an electric people carrier which was smooth and quiet. No diesel fumes and it suited our environmental green considerations. Roberto shared his passion for the island of Madeira with sumptuous facts. He stopped wherever we wanted so that we could enjoy spectacular countryside. Had a tasty lunch at the top of the island. We were treated to death defying views at specific viewpoints. Roberto went at our pace which was most relaxing. Has a good clear voice. A little late with my review( sorry) We booked our first of two tours less than24 hours after arriving on the island. Roberto arrived promptly the following morning and with another couple from our Quinta we set off on a tour of the east of the island. We were strangers , but by the end of the day we were friends. Roberto has a very relaxed personality with a vast amount of knowledge regarding everything from the landscape, to the flowers ,fauna and great restaurant recommendations. The day was not rushed at all and always felt the pace was dictated by us and not the clock. Another tour of the west of the island was booked for later in the week which was again spectacular. We are now back home and reminiscing about this beautiful piece of paradise and when we return we will definitely be in touch . My boyfriend and I joined a group tour on the second-to-last day of our vacation. Before that, we rented a car but honestly, it was quite tiring– parking was tricky, and even though the roads are beautiful, driving them was stressful. The East tour was absolutely amazing, even better than we expected. The views were pure magic, especially at the viewpoints near Pico do Arieiro and Sao Lourenco, which we actually missed when we drove past them ourselves. We loved every twist in the road, every waterfall, every scenic stop. There was also another couple in the group– super friendly people, and it really felt like we were all on the same wavelength. Roberto– our guide is basically a hidden rock star! He’s got a great sense of humor, such a chill and welcoming vibe, and it’s so clear how much he truly loves his island. My wife and I took two tours whilst in Madeira. We did the East side tour with Roberto of Electric Tours. He was recommended by another couple in our hotel and we have to say we really enjoyed our day out with him. We were extra lucky in that we were the only two people on the tour but his friendly, interested and flexible approach made it seem like we were spending the day with a knowledgeable friend rather than a tour guide. His approach was to take us to the places on the tour and then let us decide how long we wanted to spend there, rather than saying "you have an hour here". This meant we took things at our own pace and because we didn't need to stop for lunch we had extra time at the end of the day. Rather than finishing early Roberto added in two additional stops not listed on the tour, which was a lovely surprise. Roberto is very keen on the plants and wildlife of Madeira and would sometimes point out things such as a hovering Kestrel, open the windows to listen to some bird song or point out and name colourful or interesting plants. Having a quiet electric vehicle made this easy to do. He was keen to know our interests and his easy going and friendly nature encouraged us to ask questions and chat as we went along. We enjoyed the other tour we took and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable but it was more prescribed and our group found we spend time kicking our heels waiting for the time to set off again from the set places. Also the vehicle was much noisier meaning conversation was much more difficult with one lady having to move next to the driver in order to hear. Overall therefore we think the experience provided by Roberto and Electric Tours is well worth the extra you may have to pay as it was a truly memorable experience.

We were a couple and were with another couple we had not met previously. We had a a great day and stopped for a lovely lunch and poncha! Viewpoints we stopped at along the way were excellent. The fact we were in a small 7 seater vehicle meant we could access the roads coaches couldnt. Could not fault it and would highly recommend it.

We felt we were given a good insight to life outside of Funchal during our tour of the East of the island. If we had more time this trip, we would have also gone on the West Side tour.
