The tour was good. Just wished our driver and guide when we arrived in Santana on the Sunday had advised us about the farm festival that was going on. We knew that she had been to Santana on the Saturday for she talked about the road being closed, but did not explain why, As it was raining a bit, we were dropped off at a restaurant, but never told about the festival just down the street. I asked why she had not mentioned it to us, the reply was that she was more concerned about a restaurant that is covered. I wished she had, for we would have partake with the festival.

Itinerary
Cristo Rei in Garajau: Located in one of the most surprising places on Madeira Island, the statue of Cristo Rei in Garajau is one of the most emblematic monuments on the east coast. It is a must visit, which conquers visitors for its unique landscape.
Main town of Santana with an incredible view to the Eagle's Rock, Porto Santo, Ponta de São Lourenço and the farming villages that were crossed after Ribeiro Frio.
Santana is one of the nicest and most colorful villages in Madeira. Here, its inhabitants used to live in beautiful wooden cottages with roofs ending in the narrow head (Palheiros). Some of them still survive among the modern constructions, especially those close to Queimadas area.
Ribeiro Frio is an exquisite place, surrounded by aromatic forests, offering a welcoming environment. Its hillsides are crowded with numerous plant species and make up the Forest Part of Madeira. Here, taking advantage of environmental benefits, it has been installed a little trouts fish farm. Obviously, the trout is one of the most recommended dishes of its neighboring restaurant.
Be surprised by the imposing views offered by the third highest peak in the island of Madeira. Pico do Areeiro Pico do Areeiro © F.C. Madeira Tourism The Pico do Arieiro Pike, 1818 meter high, is the third highest summit in the Island of Madeira. It is highly advised to climb all the way up to the top of this mountain to enjoy the great beauty of the volcanic landscape and its wonderful views.
You'll visit Ponta de São Lourenço, and your experience will be enriched by having a guide to point out native vegetation and wildlife, that you might miss if you were alone.
The city of Machico takes up a little cove in the mouth of the Valley of the Ribeira de Machico. Here took place the landing of Zarco in Madeira for the first time in 1420, claiming for Portugal an island which was known by the sailors since ancient times.

Renato was amazing guide and the driver! Thank you for your energy!
What a brilliant day. The scenery was absolutely stunning. Views were incredible. Great itinerary with a great variety. Although there was a schedule and lots of stops it never felt rushed. Our guide Renato was excellent very knowledgeable and with an easy turn of phrase. Very likeable and professional. We also met up again with our previous guide Lionel and the banter was very good. Great day thoroughly recommended.
This was a full day tour visiting Christo Rei, Machico viewpoint, the Rum distillery,Santana, Ribeiro Frio, and Pico d o Areeiro. Our guide/driver was Renato who was extremely knowledgeable about the history and flora. He also had a gentle sense of humour.
Fabulous trip. 15 customers in total in an air conditioned minibus. Driver, Renato, was excellent and also provided the very informative commentary. Plenty of stops for photo opportunities and one long stop in the lovely town of Santana for lunch. The excursion lasted just over 7 hours and if you have only enough time for one excursion, this is the one I would recommend.
Fabulous experience with our guide Lionel (Ritchie!!!) - who was funny and extremely knowledgeable. We did two tours. The East and West of Madeira. Both were very enjoyable.
From the very beginning we received excellent communication from Viator who we booked the tour with. They gave us maps and precise directions on how and where to connect with our tour guide. Our guide Renato was simply outstanding right from the moment we met him through to when our tour concluded and he dropped us off at our ship. The tour itself was amazing! Madeira is such a beautiful island and there is so much to see. This was a full day tour as we were picked up at 9 am and dropped off 4:45 pm. There was never a dull moment. We shared a van with about 8 others and everyone stuck to the schedule that Renato gave us at each stop. Renato's non stop commentary was awesome as he shared the history and so many details of the island with us. If you want an in depth look at the island of Madeira, I can't think of a better way to do it and especially if you get Renato as your tour guide.
Great organisation, we had beautiful weather. As a single parent with 6 year old son, we were well taken care of. Thank you so much.
A really varied itinerary, which included coastal landmarks, rum and molasses tasting at a sugar cane museum, a longer stay in Santana village, to see the rustic houses and chapel, and then winding up through the forest, to Madeira’s third highest peak; with breathtaking views. Alex our guide was very courteous, informative and interesting. He provided commentary between every stop and advice on how to get the best out of each location. We were a mixed group of 13 in a minibus, professionally driven by Georges; who skilfully navigated the twisty - turny roads in the mountains. I travelled solo but had good company from two couples and two families. Suitable for all ages, with four stops which had toilets and refreshment options. Some of the stops required traversing some rocky terrain to maximise the views, so trainers and a sun hat recommended. Also take bottled drinks to stay hydrated. Temperature didn’t really drop as we went into the mountains but I understand the difference in temperature to Funchal would be more contrasted in the winter months. A really enjoyable day. Worth mentioning too that my hotel pick up was clearly communicated by WhatsApp and email. Highly recommended.
It was okay. No AC on the bus and there was a mixup with the tourist group. We had to return to the same stop for a group on the tour. Did not feel like there was enough time at the stops where we had to walk. It was rushed.
Alex was our guide for the day and he was very knowledgeable and Informative We saw some fabulous views and went off road in the 4x4 where we really saw great first class surroundings Super service by Alex
Excellent tour with an exceptional guide, Ronaldo. We definitely recommend this tour. Ronaldo provided so much information of interest.
We were so lucky to have Renato as our guide. Funny, knolegeble, very carring /I have knee problems/ and perfect driver on narrow roads og Madera
Enjoyable tour with the right amount of time at each stop. Lionel was an excellent guide with facts and jokes all the way.
This was a fantastic day in no small part to the guide who was actually called Lionel Ritchie and Hello, he is the one you’re looking for - knowledgeable, funny and with a real love of his country. The day ended with an astonishing view from the mountains above the clouds. Recommended.
We had Renato as our guide today on the Madiera East tour. Pickup was prompt, Renato was very entertaining and informative. Stops included a rum distillery, town of Santana with time for lunch and touring around the traditional houses, and a few other stops for walking about and photo ops as we wound our way up to Pico Do Ariero at height of 1818 metres. Enjoyed our day and would recommend the tour and this company
Very enjoyable East tour of Madeira. We were fortunate to have Lionel as our guide. He made the day fun and informative. The final part of the tour, ending at 1.8 km above sea level at a stunning mountain peak and being above the clouds was surreal and absolutely amazing. Highly recommend Feeling Madeira tours, especially with Lionel as your guide.
We had a Magical & Endearing Madeira East tour, with Feeling Madeira with guide Renata who had a fun sense of humour was knowledgeable & caring. Nice statue of Cristo Rei in Garajau, followed by stop at Santana which proved to be one of the most colorful villages in Madeira. At Ribeiro Frio our abs on mini bus caused a fault & broke down, Renata organised a replacement . The communication to the group who went off in 3 directions was weak , focus should have been on the group 1st then van - however all worked out & the last part with awesome views & scenery at Pico do Areeiro .
Antonio, our guide and driver was very dedicated explaining a lot of things on the way. It was nice, definitely a good way to see more if you are without car in Madeira.
Excellent tour covering great variety of view points and stops of cultural interest. Our driver/guide Lionel was friendly and very well informed.
Great tour with great sights. Good amount of time at each stop. Tour guide was very funny and informative.
Good mix of experiences. Something for everyone no matter what your activity level. A little more history of the area would be appreciated.
We booked the full day East Tour with Feeling Tours and we had a lovely day The vehicle was a 9 seater Merck and very comfortable. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and very entertaining. Nothing was too much trouble. He was disappointed for us when we had limited views at the top of the mountains due to mist so to make up for this he made several unscheduled stops on our way back. We have been on previous tours in Funchal with an other company on a tiny mini bus with drivers who didn't cover stops that were on the schedule. If you are thinking of booking a trip we would not hesitate to recommend booking Feeling Madeira Tours whch is based in the Marina Shopping Mall.
We went on 2 tours with Renato - 1 west, 1 east. Each tour was awesome due to Renato‘s most informative comments on Madeiran people, life, agriculture, history, sights, whatever. We enjoyed every moment of these tours, as some fellow tourist said „It‘s just great because Renato knows everything!“
We had a day of great views and visited some amazing places with an excellent guide, Sergio. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He also took us for a great lunch in Santana. An excellent day which created a lot of memories. I would definitely recommend this trip with Sergio
It was an amazing tour, we got to see all the main attractions of the east side of the island with a very nice guide that was funny and told us interesting things about the island and history along the way. Totally recommend it for someone that wants see a lot in a short amount of time. The views are absolutely stunning.
Great tour exploring parts of the island we had not visited before. Renato was a brilliant guide, probably the best one we have ever had, (and we have had lots in all different countries) Very knowledgeable friendly and funny, Will definitely use again if and when we come back to Madeira.
My partner and I went on this full day tour of Madeira East and again what a wonderful day we had. After having explored the West of the Island with Gabriel we had the pleasure of meeting Renato on this tour. Whilst Renato drove Gabriel spoke us through the various areas that we visited (as he says "Britney Spears" style!). We had a fantastic day with good food at lunch time (arranged by Gabriel and Renato). The whisky tasting was a great experience too! Thank you both. Tony and Sam x
We went onto the East tour of madeira with Renato today and my family. Fully enjoyed very knowledgeable.
The driver / guide, very friendly, good communication and acquainted with the culture and tourist areas of Madeira. I liked and recommend, safe and careful in the driving.
Nicely picked up on time, clear English explanation from our guide Alex, good driver. Beautiful drive along the cliffs on the coast. Unfortunately fog in mountains. A beautiful day.
Punctual start in a minibus. Bus driver and tour guide did a great job. We laughed a lot. There was a lot of information about Madeira and fantastic viewpoints. It's a great day.
In fine 25 min de retard.
I chose this Enterprise for the clarity of the activities, prices and programs / excursions available online. The communications and confirmations very simple, by whatsapp. On the specific day of the activity, they picked up at the hotel at the scheduled times and everything went optimally. We chose the lunch option in Santana in restaurant indicated by Enterprise and we liked, eating very well. The guide (bilingual PT/ENG) Renato was super attentive, friendly and professional. I recommend.
Renato has given us a super nice tour. Would definitely recommend this tour with especially this tour guide. Renato has told all kinds of things about the island and the stories around it which was very interesting.
Tour consisting of only four people. Driver / guide (Renato) very prepared and engaging: it seemed to be together with a friend who illustrated the island. Timetables met to perfection. After the tour of the west of the island, this allowed me to complete the overall view of Madeira, touching the most interesting places in the east.
