I can't rate our driver today 01.03.2026 Paulo highly enough. He was so knowledgeable about Madeira and willing to share it during the whole day trip. He explained everything possible about the island and the islanders as he drove along. He was very professional, courteous, funny and engaging. The trip was amazing with fabulous sights to see.

Camacha is a beautiful village located in a wooded area, over a high plateau, at the Northeast of Funchal, in Madeira. This village is famous for its excellent basketing and its folkloric group.
Be surprised by the imposing views offered by the third highest peak in the island of Madeira. Pico do Areeiro Pico do Areeiro © F.C. Madeira Tourism The Pico do Arieiro Pike, 1818 meter high, is the third highest summit in the Island of Madeira. It is highly advised to climb all the way up to the top of this mountain to enjoy the great beauty of the volcanic landscape and its wonderful views.
Ribeiro Frio is an exquisite place, surrounded by aromatic forests, offering a welcoming environment. Its hillsides are crowded with numerous plant species and make up the Forest Part of Madeira. Here, taking advantage of environmental benefits, it has been installed a little trouts fish farm. Obviously, the trout is one of the most recommended dishes of its neighboring restaurant.
Main town of Santana with an incredible view to the Eagle's Rock, Porto Santo, Ponta de São Lourenço and the farming villages that were crossed after Ribeiro Frio.
Santana is one of the nicest and most colorful villages in Madeira. Here, its inhabitants used to live in beautiful wooden cottages with roofs ending in the narrow head (Palheiros). Some of them still survive among the modern constructions, especially those close to Queimadas area.
You'll visit Ponta de São Lourenço, and your experience will be enriched by having a guide to point out native vegetation and wildlife, that you might miss if you were alone.
The city of Machico takes up a little cove in the mouth of the Valley of the Ribeira de Machico. Here took place the landing of Zarco in Madeira for the first time in 1420, claiming for Portugal an island which was known by the sailors since ancient times.

A most enjoyable tour, the weather was just perfect for the time of the year. Our guide Renato who also was the driver was very knowledge. He explained things well and with the questions very patient had also a good sense of hummor. I highly recommend this tour the stops were evenly spread out which was great.
This was a really great day out. Our tour guide Patrick was asked to take the tour last minute due to an illness. He was so knowledgeable. Such a great guy and he explained so much about the areas we visited and also the background of Madeira. I felt safe as he drove us around the island. The group was very friendly too. My husband and I both really enjoyed this tour. Can highly recommend.
The tour guide was funny and engaging. I think it was Renauldo. He took us to fun places all day including the rum factory. Highly recommended.
I did both coasts but I loved the east both dramatic scenery and beautiful areas. Very pretty along the way, we loved the whole day, and the lovely houses made it perfect,
Easy liaison before the trip via WhatsApp, website and then confirmation by email. Pickup exactly as described and a very knowledgeable driver/guide (Alberto). A well crafted whole day out, learned a lot about the island and saw some amazing sights. A great day and good value
We do go around the East island but the description of the stops and the time spent at each was just wrong. I understand itineraries change but we only stopped for about 20mins at each, some should have been longer to do a bit of a walk like the advertised 1hr and others it was hard to fill the 20mins. The worst part was spending 1hr 40min in Santana to try and take us to a specific restaurant. The sights of Santana take about 20 mins max so most of the group just had to wait. The guide tried to do his best to chat away but I think quality over quantity would help.
Hi excellent trip to East Madeira! Really helpful and knowledgable guide! Fantastic scenery and wonderful walk along the coast with fabulous views of the sea and mountains! Thank you
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We were lucky to have Renato as a guide in Madeira and we really loved our experience! 😊 Renato is very kind, always smiling and has an excellent sense of humor. He made the day so pleasant and made us feel confident throughout the journey. His driving was also impeccable and reassuring. A passionate, friendly, and professional guide whom we recommend without hesitation! Thank you Renato for this beautiful experience in Madeira! 🇵🇹❤️ A breathtaking place 🏔️🌊🌞🍌🥭🌳 Sarah & Michael
Punctual pick-up at the hotel. The guide "Alli" was at the top, combining advice, humor and taking care of everyone. The one-day visit was brilliantly conducted. Only regret the lunch stop in SANTANA without a real restaurant proposal, fortunately our friend Google guided us very well. Thanks to Madeira and Alli. Too bad the WEST tower was not at the same height of satisfaction.
We took a tour by minibus to the east of the island on 17/8/2025. Our guide Paulo Coelho made the experience memorable: he shared his vast knowledge about the island’s history, its people and how they live, as well as the places we were going through. We always had time to explore ourselves too. Careful and efficient driving. We learned a lot and definitely recommend.
Interesting activity if you want to discover some parts of the island. However, many places are not marked on their program such as the visit to the distillery of Rhum or the Cristo Rei. Our French guide was cancelled at the last moment and we had to follow explanations in English and Portuguese. During the meal we were dropped in the city of Santana in a heavy rain with only explanation of the meeting time. The bus left to park 2 km outside the city and we had no place to eat away from the wind and rain. Restaurants are present but we had planned our own food so it was impossible to take shelter without eating. We contacted customer service because the guide was unreachable and after an hour and a quarter, after discussing with them, they organized so that we could get back on the bus. The rest of the group did not get this favor. No other excursions are planned in case of bad weather, for our case we stayed on the bus a good part of the tour during stops. Also it is forbidden to eat on the bus. However, it is a good activity if the weather is favourable.
This is the 3rd time we have come to Madeira and the 2nd time we have done this mini-bus excursion. The price of €30 per person is competitive and even better, if you take the 2 tours (East and West), it will only cost you €55. The eastern tour is well designed to fill the day with a lunch stop in Santana in front of the typical small houses with thatched roofs. - The driver guide - different from that of the west tour - is pleasant and a perfect driver. Our small group of 16 people was easy to navigate. - With the Saint Laurent point, the Rivière Froide natural park and the Arieiro peak, this circuit is wilder than that of the west. - Only one regret: The planned 20-minute stop at Machico beach (the only one with blond sand imported from the Moroccan Sahara) did not take place and that is very regrettable! - This tour of the east is a cheap way to fill a great day in Madeira.
Just beautiful! Except at the end, ten brakes failed. Luckily we were home, but the others weren't. Too bad.
Great day - beautiful scenery Our guide Patricia very friendly and very professional who knows her island perfectly.
The tour guide was not very talkative and just announced where we were going next. But some locations illustrate the wonderful nature of Madeira.
People without masks on the bus, we told him and he said nothing. On the first stop other people sat in our seats without respecting the position. Everything had to be reorganized to reach an agreement. We are in Santana. We haven’t eaten in the restaurant and we’ve been sitting on the street for 40 minutes waiting for them to finish eating when they had to be on the bus at 2.30pm. And it seems to be going long.If we get to know this we make plans in the village that we have not made thinking that we did not have time. We will rate you the three people with a star on all social travel networks. One of us is a well-known travel blogger and will tell you about it in his profile. This is outrageous!!Then give us our money back. The experience is being terrible.
Fantastic trip! Renato knows a lot and tells this in a very nice and pleasant way! All stops were a great experience despite some restrictions due to Covid19!
First things first: absolutely recommended!! After booking I had a short question (via email) about the meeting point and was called back the next day and all questions clarified. In Funchal we were picked up directly from the ship (sign with our names held up) and had a very nice tour with our driver RENATO, who brought us a lot of explanations and stories about the whole day (8 hours) in English. Just mega nice, easy going! The stops were also well chosen and his restaurant tip was Mega — even if I was a bit “skeptical” at first. We were a small group of 6 people and so the day was really fun!
