Day 1
1
It was this traditional fishing village, situated five kilometers from Funchal, which inspired Sir Winston Churchill to paint its lovely surroundings.
Further along the road from Funchal through Câmara de Lobos and up into the mountains you will arrive at Cape Girão, often considered the highest sea cliff in Europe. Standing on the glass skywalk of the viewpoint is quite a breathtaking adventure.
Ribeira Brava (which means wild stream) is a municipality on the southwest coast of the island and includes the parishes of Ribeira Brava, Campanário, Tabua and Serra de Água.
A new road traverses the 1004 m high Encumeada pass. Starting at Ribeira Brava at the south coast, the road winds up to Serra d'Água (which was the island's first water power station) and arrives at the top of the valley giving incredible views of both the south and the north coast.
Porto Moniz seems to have fallen from above into the northern sea and has long been famous for its natural swimming pools and its pure, beautiful scenery.
Seixal, the largest parish of Porto Moniz municipality in terms of area, is a land with favorable natural conditions and resources, including a trout farm in Chão da Ribeira. Do not miss the opportunity to visit Santo Antão Church, and swim in the volcanic natural pools, from where you can enjoy the beautiful sea and mountain views, typical of the north coast of Madeira.
Although considered a coastal village, São Vicente has progressed with time in the more sheltered hinterland. At the edge of the village, directly next to the sea, lies a great boulder, in which the Saint Vincent chapel was built.
Day 2
2
Pico do Arieiro, with an altitude of 1818 meters, is the third highest peak on the island (and the second highest with pedestrian access). Fortunately, it can be reached by car. Views are spectacular up here, and when there is good weather, it is even possible to see Porto Santo, the neighboring island, which is situated 30 nautical miles to the north.
Not far from Santo da Serra, on the northern slopes of the island, you will find a very popular starting point for 'levada' walks. Ribeiro Frio (cold river) still has much of the original vegetation today. The island was once totally covered with 'Laurissilva' forest, a relic from prehistoric times.
We arrive at the east point for some superb views of the bold north and sunny south coasts
Characterized by its small thatched triangular houses, Santana is a beautiful village on the north coast. These small houses, built of natural stone and thatched with straw, have served the locals for centuries as stables and dwellings.
Ponta de São Lourenço is one of the last nearly untouched places in Madeira. Located in the eastern part of the island, this is the place where a fantastic combination of rocks, sea and nature created one of Mother Nature's masterpieces.
Machico is not only one of the most populated cities on the island, but also a place of great historical value, as it was precisely where explorers first arrived in 1419.

Our tour guide Paulo was amazing at sharing the history of the island and everything the island had to offer, he was hilarious and factual and kept a nice tight but very fun schedule. We saw so much of the island we would have not been able to without this 2 day tour and saw some of the most beautiful sights we have ever seen.
Lionel is funny and very knowledgeable. He kept us entertained and toured us around all the spots as planned. All worth it, thank you!
I enjoyed a most splendid two day tour with Feeling Madeira. Their excellent drivers/guides, João and Leonel were perfect, and they both made the tours a complete success for me. They were both friendly, very helpful and very knowledgeable about the places that we visited. On both days of the tours, Joāo and Leonel were punctual, arriving at least 10 minutes before the pick up time. They were both very helpful in answering all questions asked by guests. There were very many lighthearted moments, especially from Leonel who charmed everyone. I have no hesitation in suggesting this tour. It was worth every penny and you get to know the island and its history!
Enjoyable, punctual service, good value knowledgeable guide on both days. Great places to see and visit on the island.
We had an excellent two-day trip with our guide, Renato. We did both the West tour and the East tour and were able to cover most of the beautiful island of Madeira. Renato was an excellent driver and a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who made the experience truly enjoyable. Highly recommended and just to be precise, his name is Renato, not Renata!
Two beautiful and very interesting days, with a lot of breathtaking places to see and spectacular sceneries!!! Very well documented guides, very fluent in english, especially Mr. Paulo Coelho!!! He is a real enciclopedia!!!
It is a great way of learning about the island in two active days! We were lucky to have Paulo as our guide both days and he was very informative, lively guide and excellent driver. Beautiful unforgettable experience, highly recommend to people, who really want to get to know the island!
There were wonderful 2 days in a company with nice people trom different countries! it was fun to explore the island together! Thanks a lot to our guides Renato and Paulo for the excelent driver's skills, for the stories about Madeira, for their sharp sence of humor!
Disappointing. Good trip for part of both days, however, on each day it was obvious that we would not either be able to see anything in the mountains and that it would be pointless due to extreme weather conditions. The port was closed, many levadas walks cancelled and it was severe weather conditions. We were disappointed that on both occasions the trips went ahead knowing we couldn’t really see anything for half the trip?
This tour is the best way to see and learn about this magnificent island if you are visiting for a few days and not renting a car. For the west tour we had Leonel -outstanding, knowledgeable, informative and funny. Our group was English and Spanish and he divided the time between the two groups perfectly well switching languages freely. Although the tour was in two languages we were able to learn so much about the history and culture and hear many interesting facts. For the east tour we’ve had Gloria- another fantastic guide! Thank you Feeling Madeira for the wonderful experience, I would definitely recommend this company!
We were in Madeira from Feb 25-MAr 9th. The first week we took a tour with Bruno on the east side of the island. We can't say enough good things about him. He was witty and certainly knew the history of his island pointing out interesting things along the way. What a wonderful day it was with him. The second week we took a tour of the west side with Paolo. He looked like he had rolled out of bed and grabbed the first thing he could to wear and pulled them on. He hadn't shave and looked ill prepared for the day. He didn't appear to know what the microphone was for as he didn't use it all day. All he did was drive. He said that he would be here at a certain spot and was often late. He drove frequently on the wrong side of the road. We had high hopes for this tour as the first tour was so good. Take the east tour with Bruno any day. At all costs avoid the west tour with Bruno.
Highly recommended! Most of the best atractions of Madeira in just 2 days. I had a trips with Renato and on 2nd day with Paulo. A lot of information about islands fauna, flora, culture, history provided on very interesting way.
Was beutiful time, very good servis. Our guides, Gloria and Renato are real profesionals who do their job perfectly. Recommend it 100%.
As often with this type of tour, a lot depends on the guide. The first day was certainly better because we had an excellent guide, Sergio. His English was excellent and he provided so much information. He spoke a lot whilst we were driving and most of it was informative. On the 2nd day our guide was not so good. Her English was not so good - heavily accented so quite difficult to understand and she had far less to say. The itinerary was fine, although on the first day we stopped at a small banana plantation where we walked up a path at the side and back down again with nobody explaining anything. Similarly on our 2nd day on the Eastern side, we had a lengthy stop at Santana over lunch time and there really isn't anything worth seeing other than a brief 5 minute look at the small colourful thatched cottages. The price of the tour was reasonable and it does give a reasonable taster of what the Island has to offer. For us, it meant that if we were to return, we would probably feel comfortable to hire a car and know where we might want to go and spend more time.
The stunning scenery of both the west & east of Madeira makes this a perfect holiday destination. Met our expectations.
Renato was a fabulous guide with a lot of enthusiasm and one of the best tour guides we have had the pleasure of experiencing. We met at 8:30 and finished around 4:30. We originally booked one day but after the experience on the first we decided to book for the second day. 🦎 Great way to see the best spots on Madeira and as we did not have a car it was definitely worth the money. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Madeira.
Great value for money. Would and have recommended. The first tour guide talked a lot, the second didn't. We also felt rushed a bit. Otherwise all great.
We had a guide called Renato Rodrigues, very prompt, polite and friendly. He spoke several languages so all on the tour could understand what was being seen. He had great knowledge of flora, fauna and history, above all was Renato’s passion for his island in all aspects.
Top tier tour with unlimited amount of information given by Renato while also providing witty jokes and making each person in the minibus feel as comfortable as they can possibly be. This two day tour was a very efficient way of showing the full view of Madeira with Renato making the difficult roads seem very easy and made sure everyone was at ease with his safe driving. I would recommend everyone that comes to Madeira that they take this tour as you learn the culture, tradition and history throughout the tour. Renato is a great man who was really respectful with the way he took care of us as a group and was helpful when we had questions for him not to mention when we had stopped at certain places he would take time out of his break to engage in small talk. It is incredibly rare to find such a interesting and exciting character like Renato who has a buzz of energy despite having a job that may be repetitive but Renato made sure he put a smile on everyone's face and left everyone satisfied. I hope this helps people with future plans of going to and touring Madeira. I wish the best for you Renato :).
This was a fantastic trip, would definitely recommend. So many beautiful things to see and experience. Our guide/driver Gama was really nice, really knowledgeable and had a particular interest in horticulture, which made the trip extra special as he knew a fair bit about the unique vegetation of the island. He made us feel welcome and all the guests got to know each other thanks to him. He is also an excellent driver and we felt safe, even on the scariest of mountain roads. He clearly loves his job and Madeira and makes you feel like you are experiencing the real culture, and not just getting the standard tour of pretty things. We did the 2 day tour and we loved both of them, and both were special. He translated into multiple languages for all the guests too. Would definitely recommend, and I would do it again.
Would like to recommend Feeling Madeira Tour if you would like to explore the beauty of the island in an enjoyable time. Special mention to our tour guide Renato Rodrigues, a very professional, bubbly tour guide with gregarious manner. He is very friendly and intellectual person with a great sense of humor. He definitely made sure that we have enjoyed every minute of the tour. On top of that, the price of the trip is reasonable, it is really worth it!! I will for sure book their company's service when I come back in Madeira.
Great guide, nice relaxed drive .no hurry. Best way to too see the island if your there for the first time.
I love to write a super great review with the "spoilers" 😀 main reason we enjoyed the 2 great days . Two very different days, and I would like to recommend everyone to experience these two days with the great guides of " Madeira tours and walks " In the description you will find the routes, I would like to share some photos. The service was excellent from start to finish, we had Renato Rodrigues as a cheerful guide, because of his headset everyone on the bus can hear him easily. Because we like to have lots of sleeping time during our holidays, and dont like to wake up earlier.. we opted for a 2 day with a rest day in between, communication about this during this request went very well during the telephone booking. I received a video about the tour for information.. a great service I prefer not to reveal too much about the tour, so that the surprise aspects remain a surprise 😃 I do reveal that the lunch stop is highly recommended. The stops are pleasant and last an average of 30 minutes, which is long enough to admire the town. We spent both days with the guide Renato, we saw the guide Gabriel briefly during a stop, very friendly men! After the two days we visited the town of camera des lobos again to enjoy it a little longer
We were lucky to do the tours on cloudy and rainy days. So our guide Gabriel forced us to use our imagination. But there were also some sunny moments which we enjoyed as well 😉 Gabriel was such a great tour guide that we asked him to do the Nun's Valley tour on Christmas eve. Everybody on bord enjoyed the three days and really felt Madeira. Minibus interior could need some more attention (cleanliness of the seats)
The service was outstanding from start to finish we had Renato Rodrigues as our Tourist Guide he was amazing kind and funny 😄 he made jokes and talked to everyone like they was VIP Customer's he made all of us feel special and his English was Amazing I have to say me and my wife and in Lawers loved him and we would Recommend using Freling Madeira the management was good here and tried to help us with everything and and let us know about everything that was going to happen we did the 2 day Tour of the island and I'm going back to madeira and I will do the tour again with FeelingMadeira and I will ask for Renato Rodrigues to be my Tourist Guide
We did the 2 day tour with Renato and had a wonderful time. The bus was full but everyone observed mask rule (much better than the country I live it!). Renato always had his mask on and humourously acted as guide in English and Portuguese all whilst driving around ever winding roads. He was clear with instructions and always chatted with each member of the tour. We had a fabulous time and recommend this tour. It was great value for money considering the distance he covered. Pick up and drop off was from our hotel in Camera De Lobos, but they also pick up from the Funchal hotels.
Two wonderful days touring the west and east part of this beautiful island. Thanks to Lionel, our driver and guide, for making these excursions so pleasant. He has been a very good professional in every sense: driving through an island that is all caves, explaining the different places in a very pleasant and complete way, and very friendly with the different anecdotes he was telling us. Thank you very much. Highly recommended
The best guide in Madeira: Lionel! We spent two days touring the island of Madeira with Lionel, a guide who stands out for his great professionalism, but also for his personality: fun, attentive, and always willing to help us. We loved that he shared with us all the knowledge he has about the island of Madeira, as well as its customs and its gastronomy. Thank you so much, Lionel, for making us enjoy and experience two such unforgettable days! We are taking home a beautiful memory of Madeira and, without a doubt, part of that memory is thanks to you. The four Spaniards from Gran Canaria 🇮🇨❤️
Excellent guide to our glory. Five stars. Very professional and friendly.
I made a 2 day tour of Madeira with Feeling Madeira and I only have good things to say. The excellent work of Mr. Lionel made all the difference! It was impeccable on both the first and second day. Always professional, friendly and with an incredible knowledge of the island. Explains everything in detail, suggests and recommends points of interest, restaurants and local experiences that make the visit even more special. In just 2 days with Mr. Lionel, I got to know the island of Les a Les. A fantastic experience that I recommend without hesitation. It really is worth taking the tour with him! Classical in 6 stars 😉 I hug Lionel and hope to see him soon!
I made the two tour of Madeira and I loved it. Our guide Lionel was very friendly, helpful, undoubtedly an excellent professional. I recommend 100% the company to visit the island. In these two days we were able to see the entire island, stop at the most well-known points and with magnificent landscapes in addition to getting to know more of the Madeirese culture, taste the best ponchas, the honeycakes that are wonderful. There is plenty to visit and explore on the island. I highly recommend and hope to return to Madeira again soon! With my best compliments, Ana Neiva
They were two fantastic days, the tour is taken care of in every detail and Lionel's guide was fantastic. Nice and full of information about the island...I highly recommend Lionel and Feeling Madeira....Mamma mia what an experience!Super Top💯
We did the East Tour and the West Tour in November 2025. Both days we had excellent, knowledgeable guides/drivers. Two days that were fun and we learned a lot about the island and the botany. We can only recommend.
Excellent tour. Our guide was Lionel. Unbeatable. A good enough level of Spanish. Attentive, friendly, good professional. The tour went quietly enjoying each stop and with Lionel's explanations
We booked a two-day tour, for the west side and the east side of Madeira.Today we got to know the beautiful west side. Our guidebook was awesome, very very nice, funny, great language skills, courteous and knowing Madeira.Tomorrow we will join the tour of the east side and are already very excited. We thank our guidebook today João Manuel💐🇵🇹 Good morning 😊🇵🇹 The west side tour of Madeira was also very interesting and beautiful. Our guide, who has been there since 1963 and his driver (Jorge) were very nice.We have always been told something nonstop, be it about the history of that time and this here and now. It was all very informative. We thank Feeling Madeira from the bottom of our hearts for the great staff and the well organized tours. Thank you so much We will definitely come back to this beautiful island🇵🇹👍🏼 Your family Carvalho😊
EXCELLENT in everything from the punctuality in coming to get us, the safety in the trip, the cordiality and professionalism of Mrs. Gloria, driver and guide in the 2 days. Also the lunch places. Really made Madeiras cuter with this Service.
Thank you very much to Feeling Madeira Tours & Walks, and especially to Paulo Coelho, our driver and guide, for an amazing experience. I booked the Madeira tour in two days to make the most of my brief stay on the island, and I couldn't have made a better decision. The tour was complete, well organized and very entertaining. Paulo was always attentive, friendly and willing to answer any questions, which made the trip even more pleasant. I recommend this experience without any doubt.
The walk went very well. The driver, Mr. Leonel, came to pick us up to the hotel on time and was from beginning to end very friendly, helpful and with an excellent sense of humor, which gave a good atmosphere to the group of people who did not know each other. The explanations were interesting and enriching. There were stops where we ended up not getting out of the cart, because the group did not want to get out given that there were bad weather conditions, but Leonel made a question of rewarding us with stops in alternative locations and that were not part of the route, although he did not have all this obligation. We recommend both the 2 day tour of the island, as well as the company and driver!
Great experience! I emphasize the sympathy of Gloria and Mr. Joseph. We were able to see all the places indicated and with enough time to explore each. I just don't give 5 stars because we couldn't see the Peak of the Sandwich, but it was due to the huge fog and they're not to blame. I recommend to those who want to know Madeira quickly and safely!
Antonio il me semble)
Best choice we made! I came to Madeira on my honeymoon with my wife and we decided to do this tour, confident in the reviews and practicality and everything was perfect. We had the guide Renato on the first day and on the second day Lionel, what a wonderful and contagious energy from these two, they were always explaining everything we were going through, very attentive, communicative, helpful, playful. We definitely RECOMMEND this tour. They are to be congratulated in all aspects. Score 10000!
We booked the entire 2 day tour of Madeira and dinner with festive, with folklore group. The dinner at the A PARREIRA restaurant was reasonable, because although the dance group had some very elderly and other very shy young people, it was still acceptable to know the local festive customs. The disappointing was the Madeirese snack served. The meat was very fiber and with nerves, which even caused us pain in the jaw, different from what we did to try on the previous trip at other restaurants. I'd give a note 3. The two-day ride was disappointing, in this case because of the rain and a lot of fog, we can not blame either the program (which we had already done driving on our own) and not even the driver-guide (I think it was the GAMA) who was always in doubt to close the program but was charged to make other options without climbing the mountains due to lack of visibility. However, the views and the visit to Cabo Girão to its entire SKYWALK of glass, was a great loss. On the second day, Matias, who was responsible for the group, was always very attentive and compensated for every minute lost the day before. One other way is not to trust the promise made to leave at the airport after the route. At the hiring everything was fine and combined with one of the partners (Vitor), but the day before, could no longer because it was out of the route. Unfortunate
Wave. Love me Gael, love 4 years and hoxe change nome! Chameime everything or day Pablito because Alberto, or meu primeiro guide, thought I was shamed by Pablo. Funny this Alberto. Levoume by moi guais sites, like a moi alto site onde facía moito vento. We also pass Catarina airport polo (min I also don't like Cristiano, Alberto, they are more Messi, eat mom). Or what else I liked about all the foi Alberto explained moi ben, vou ask not to cole that sex or meu teacher or course they see. Or that less I liked foi that only there were dous parks na ruta. Who gives me unha route polo shirts parks coolest Madeira!!! A hug moo forte Alberto, fuches o meu primeiro Guía e fuches moi chachi. Pablito
Excellent experience tour 2 days by wood, I recommend without any doubt, the van driver on the first day was Gabriel, 5* boy of a sympathy and good disposition difficult to find and explained everything throughout the tour, first day was the east side of the island and was spectacular the sites we visited. On the second day it was also a twist, but it was more based on sights and visit the locality of santana where the typical houses of wood are located, but it was a little disappointment due to the few existing houses and no original being of the age. I recommend 100% this tour Enterprise!!!👍 The Vítor who was the Cover I always talked to, and went to pick us up at the airport and waited about 2 hours, due to the delay of the plane and there is a lot of wind to land safely, is a spectacular Cover,
Thank you Gabriel, it was two wonderful days... very attentive and with great wisdom, we learned and had a lot of fun! We wish you all good
Without a doubt a great option for a short stay in Madeira Island. In two days we know places like Cabo Girão, Santana, Porto Moniz, Pico Areeiro, Veu da Noiva, Câmara de Lobos, Machico, etc. The guide Renato was exceptional, tireless and always with a smile and a good natural disposition that delighted these two days with the history and knowledge of various facts about the places visited. Thanks Feeling Wood. Thank you Renato.
