My friend and I did the 2 day tour with Lionel as our guide on both days. He really was a brilliant guide, he gave us so much information about the island and the different places we visited. He was friendly, has a great knowledge and was very passionate about his home country, which was an honour to see. He didn't just tell us about the places we were stopping at but gave us lots of interesting information about traditional foods/history/drinks/plants/landscape/culture etc etc. He pointed out so many interesting things during the drive. Thank you to him I learned so much! The whole tour was well organised, very clear communication about pick up location and time etc. Would definitely recommend.

Day 1
1
- Cabo Girão: Our first stop, we go up to the magnificent viewpoint of Cabo Girão, 580m high and with a glass balcony, famous for being the highest in Europe and the second highest cliff in the world.
- Ribeira Brava: Traveling along the coast of the island, we soon arrive at the village of Ribeira Brava, where we can visit a church dating from the 15th century.
- Madalena do Mar: Then we continue to Madalena do Mar, a short visit through the lush green banana plantations.
- Fonte do Bispo: From an altitude of between 1300-1500 meters we find the tourist attraction of Paúl de Serra and the beginning of several walks along the levadas that connect to different points of the island through the Laurissilva forest with a stop at Fonte do Bispo point of view.
- Porto Moniz: Next, we stop for lunch and extra time in the seaside town of Porto Moniz - home to the largest natural volcanic pools in Madeira. On our descent towards the village we can enjoy fantastic views, especially of the volcanic pools in their entirety. In good weather it is possible to go for a swim, so come prepared. Stop for lunch/free time, about 1.30 to 2 hours stop.
- Seixal Viewpoint: Then we make a brief stop in Seixal. Along the way, we have the pleasure of passing by several waterfalls, with emphasis on the famous and stunning Véu de Noiva waterfall. Looking at the water running down the mountain, you can see how the rock face has been delicately sculpted by wind and rain over millions of years to form what can only be described as the perfect art form.
- São Vicente: Then we visit the picturesque neighboring village of São Vicente, where you can visit a beautiful church dating from the 17th century before returning to Funchal.
- Câmara de Lobos: Located 5 km from the city of Funchal, our last stop is the picturesque and famous fishing village of Câmara de Lobos; a favorite painting spot of the late Winston Churchill!
Day 2
2
- Cristo Rei in Garajau: Located in one of the most surprising places on Madeira Island, the statue of Cristo Rei in Garajau is one of the most emblematic monuments on the east coast. It is a must visit, which conquers visitors for its unique landscape.
- Machico: Machico is a historic city that is the second most populous on the island. Located in the eastern zone, Machico was the first capital of Madeira between 1440 and 1496 under the captaincy of Tristão Vaz Teixeira. It was here that the first settlers settled in 1420 and Funchal only became the capital in 1508.
- Ponta de São Lourenço: Ponta de São Lourenço (Ponta do Rosto) is the easternmost point of Madeira and is a nature reserve with panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean and spectacular rock formations; it is a unique landscape very different from the rest of the island.
- Porto da Cruz: In Porto da Cruz, a small village located in the northeast of Madeira, an old rum distillery testifies to the importance of sugar cane for Madeira. Old steam machines set the rhythm of work in this distillery. The factory's original workers still maintain and keep the equipment operational. But despite this, Engenhos do Norte has recently opened its doors to visitors. You can enter freely.
- Santana: Santana is a charming village on the northeast coast of Madeira, known for its colorful triangular thatched houses. Nowadays they remain a tourist attraction, but their origin dates back to the 16th century. Santana is one of the most remarkable municipalities on the island of Madeira, offering some of the most breathtaking views and authentic Madeiran culture. It is even said that there is something magical about this region of the island. Stop for lunch/free time, about 1.30 to 2 hours stop.
- Ribeiro Frio: Ribeiro Frio is a natural park located in a deep valley in the north of the island surrounded by mountains. It's a popular stop for locals and tourists alike due to its trout farming pools and fascinating nature trails, ideal for those who enjoy a leisurely stroll. Along the trails you will find a variety of trees such as the laurel and, perched on them, birds endemic to the region such as the pigeon, the chaffinch and the bis-bis which is the smallest bird in Madeira.
- Pico do Arieiro: Pico do Arieiro is the third highest peak on the island of Madeira, with an altitude of 1818 meters. The views are fabulous, with clouds hovering over the fantastic rock formations - a scene impossible to describe. When the sky is clear it is possible to see the south coast of Madeira, Curral das Freiras and even the island of Porto Santo. On the way to Pico do Arieiro you can see a unique stone well, similar to an igloo, known as “Poço da Neve”, which was built by an English family to store ice, snow and hail from the mountains. In 2011, an air defense radar was installed on the summit of the peak. Pico do Areeiro is one of the most visited places on the island thanks to its easy access, stunning views and the famous trails that lead to Pico das Torres and Pico Ruivo.

Simply amazing tour. Covers 80/90% Madeira. GREAT guides. Day 1 was Western side and Day 2 was Eastern. Well paced tour.
Certainly glad I didnt book a car to see all of these places. Some extremely windy, narrow roads. First day (west) had some stops that seemed pointless and the guide / driver told us an awful lot about new roads and tunnels as well as fires - reoeatedly- but little about history, flora, fauna etc. Day 2 (east), guide, Ali, was much more informative even though his english was not as good. Amusing as well. Didn't see the best views because of cloud and rain so pick days carefully. Rock pools to the east side (by Cachalote) of the town are natural, and free. Big pool outside the Beer House has an entry fee.
Excellent overall tour. Saw many of the famous sites of Madeira. Gloria was a great driver & tour leader! Only issue was pickup was not available at our villa even though tour confirmation said they would pick us up there. We had to spend an additional 35 euros per day on Uber fees to get to and from pickup point.
Overall it was good for the price. A good view of the island. Low clouds prevented us from seeing the view on the mountain top on the 2nd day. 2nd day was a little light. The guide was very good. And improvised when needed.
it was great lionel the tour conductor was very informative. Gave us enough time to look around. Very patient
This was a great way to see the Island. We had the same guide both days. He was sometimes very difficult to keep up with as sometimes he would go straight into another bit of information without finishing the subject he was originally talking about. However, he was still very knowledgable and I did learn a lot. He also advised us of best places to go without being ripped off. The trips were really good and we met some lovely people. The first day to the East of the Island was a bigger group so we had a much bigger mini bus. The second day was to the West and we had a smaller group and a smaller minibus, which was less comfortable. We got to see lots of different landscapes which was really interesting. So many different types of forests and the weather was very different in each place. Overall it was worth the money and I would recommend it.
Lionel and the guide on the second day were both very good. Both were easy to understand and enthusiastic about the information they shared with us. The tour was a great way to see most of the island without us having to rent a car.
It's been a great couple of days, Roberto and Juan are shared their knowledgeable and experiences about living in Madeira. I've seen so many amazing places! Yes, weather was unpredictable in the mountains, but it was part of the adventure. Thoroughly recommend it!!
Being first time at Madeira, had a great experience and I am satisfied with the Feeling Madeira's well-organised tour provided! Special thanks to Lionel and Sergio who made the 2-days tour an amazing experience with their kindness, hospitality and knowledge! I highly recommend it! Worth the money and worth the time!
This is a good 2 day tour for those that want to see the main sights and not drive. The driver/guides were at the pick up point on time and were very friendly (Joe on Saturday and Gloria on Sunday). It rained all day on the 2nd day but we still had a good time. As it can be colder the further North you go, take a jacket in case. Also both restaurants that we stopped at for lunch did not cater for vegetarians so take your own food if you can. The restaurant on the East side only accept cash (€30 each) as do some of the small gift shops at each stop so take extra euros with you and dont rely on your card.
We really enjoyed the first day with Renato. He was an excellent guide and pointed out flowers fruit and birds. His microphone worked very well. Wonderful scenery. I was disappointed that we stopped at a shop at Ribeiro Frio rather than doing the very short levada walk (that I have done on tours before). We did not feel rushed at any of the stops. However, the second day did feel rushed (eg 10 mins at the banana plantation) - and information was more limited, probably because the guide had to say everything twice. (German and English). A few people were late at the start of each day, but nobody was ever late back at the stops. Madeira is, of course, magnificent!
Highly informative and enjoyable. The pace was perfect, as was the experience. Our preference was the east island day.
Good value for money. Hits tourist spots around the island. Jose our guide for the first day was warm and calm. He was very knowledgeable about island botany. Punctual pick up ans drop off. Nice small 9 seater vehicle for the first day and 15 for the second. Highlights were Pico do aereiro viewpoint and seixal waterfall. Good if you want to get an overview of the island.
First Day, went north of island. It was and need to be very strickly time controlled by our guide, who was the driver. He had exceptional knowledge on all things particularly flora and fauna. His thoughts were also humorously delivered. Excelent first day. Second day was South of the island with a different driver/guide. He too was very knowledgeable, always commenting on stuff we past by. The only disappointment to me was nothing to do with driver, or vehicle, was the visit to Santana. I was particularly looking forward to the A shaped houses, but found them virtually brand new, and most of them shops. We did find one near the restaurant, though new, was shown as a house. The recommended restuarant was also poor, for food and customer service. Overall both days were value for money, very enjoyable, well presented, and definately worth doing
Gloria and Renato were both wonderful tour guides for the two-day experience. Full of knowledge, laughter and sight-seeing. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the island solo and wants to travel by bus (not rent a car).
Highlights were (west) Porto Moniz and the awe inspiring view above the clouds at the very high mountain peak last stop on east. These trips are totally recommended for first time visitors to help get a feel of this beautiful island. A big shout out to Sergio our east guide!
Very enjoyable two days. Drivers were incredible, knowledgeable and friendly ..l left my jacket on the bus at the end of day one. I tried to contact the office in Funchal but no reply. I emailed Viator and the next day when we met the second driver, he had my jacket! !He was given the jacket by the driver from day one. I would recommend this company to anyone going to Madeira.
Saw most of the island in 7 + 7 hrs over 2 days. We were picked from our hotel although it was originally out of the pick up zone. The drivers/ guides where fun, informative, and safe. Compliments to Jose and Renato for a job welldone!
We enjoyed this tour. It took us to all the highlights of the island without having to take seperate tours to each location we wanted to see. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable about the island and all the important details about each area we visited. The first day the van we were in did not have very good a/c and at times it was a little uncomfortable but we made the best of it. I would highly recommend this tour
We did the 2 day round the island trip with Lionel as our guide. He was excellent in everyway
Two days, the whole island, and a guide we won't forget. We did the West and East 2 day tour of Madeira with the company, and it was easily the best way to see the island. In just two days we covered most of Madeira, and each day felt completely different, so it never got repetitive. The real highlight was our guide, Lionel. He was genuinely hilarious and had the whole group laughing all day. Every stop came with stories about the island's history, nature and local life, and all of it was fascinating. It felt more like exploring with a funny friend who happens to know everything about the place. If you only have a few days on Madeira and want to see as much as possible, book the tour. Highly recommended. Thank you, Lionel!
Overall very enjoyable although preferred the western part to the eastern part. Guide (Renato) was very knowledgeable about the island, particularly its fauna and vegetation and we enjoyed his sense of humour; and a good driver on what are challenging roads in places. It would have been useful/helpful to provide simple maps on each day to show the route taken and stopping off points.
It was really amasing from start of day 1 to end of day 2. Our guides were extremely friendly and knowledgeable
A great way to see all of Madeira in two days. Our guide/driver Gloria was great, safe and informative. Highly recommend this tour to anyone.
This is a fantastic tour all around Madeira. The spots are scenic, the views are incredible, and they stick to a strict schedule allowing you to see all the sights and get back on time. The guide Ronaldo was upbeat and shared tons of information. We took one small van, and a coach bus over two days. Both were great experiences.
Beautiful island to see in two days. However, on the first day our minibus had no working AC and it was very hot and sticky which spoiled the experience as we were so uncomfortable. The driver Dinate was very good and informative. On the second day we had a large packed coach, again with no working AC and no working microphone for the guide so we could not hear anything he was saying. Also the coach was approximately 40 minutes late. Sadly it was not the best experience and was our first time using Viator.
The most inclusive two day tour around beautiful Madeira was everything I wanted to see of the entire island. Very informed tour guides with a passion for their island, allowed us to see the key attractions you would often find it difficult to get to on your own. I highly recommend booking, you will not regret.
Beautiful views. We hit all of the important viewpoints. Our guide was very nice and informative. Only problem was that it was very hot and no air conditioning in our van.
Gloria was a great guide. Explained a lot and was fun. It was very hot and she had no air conditioning I. Bus so that was not comfortable. We saw a lot and enjoyed. I would suggest finding a less expensive lunch option than the tour guide selected. Not really worth 30 euros.
Great tour to experience the beautiful scenery of Madeira with expert tour guides and excellent drivers navigating the steep mountainous roads.
Great way to see the island. Good value for money. A really enjoyable two days with plenty of stops.
Both days were great, our guide on day 1 from south Africa was fantastic, he made us laugh and he explained things really well. However on the 2nd day, it was supposed to be an English speaking tour, but he has to explain everything in English, German and French. We did not understand his English very well, especially as he was speaking in 3 different languages which was very disappointing. Also the bus was late in the morning and we were supposed to get 30 minutes at each stop, we only got 20 minutes or 25 minutes to begin with on the first stops. The reason I am mentioning this and the only reason as we didn't mind at the time that the bus was late, was at the last stop on day 2 of the East tour, which for us was the highlight, we rushed around and was 10 minutes late getting back. My husband apologised, and I just said we didn't get enough time to see everything. He then said you need to manage your time more, not in a nice way. This then upset me as I then said don't tell me to manage my time when the bus was late this morning. He was very rude and the complete opposite of our South African guide the day before. If it wasn't for the guide on the East tour this trip would of got 5 stars. Very disappointed with him, he even told 2 ladies near him to not talk while he was talking, as he had to repeat everything in 3 languages, they were unable to talk to one another.
Our first day on the East side was great. Great guide and comfortable van. We give Ronaldo a 5 star. Unfortunately the 2nd day was not so good. Very old van and no a/c so windows had to be down. Lots of fumes while driving thru the tunnels. Could not understand him very well so 1 star.
Roberto is a very good informative guide and makes it light hearted. Looking forward to having him again tomorrow. 🤞🤩
Good overall view of the island. Handy to get around if not hiring a car and risking the drive and parking. 2 day gives enough time in each spot to get a flavour of the island.
À really excellent tourer spread over 2 days you see most of the island our guide was Lionel who’s knowledge was amazing our 1st day was all in English on the 2nd day Lionel also spoke in Spanish and Portuguese. Lionel was also the driver on the 2nd day the vehicle was a little cramped but the vehicle on the 1st day was a large coach how the driver managed on some of the roads was incredible
Excellent value for money. It is a bit of a convoy round with the other tours but that is to be expected. See lots of the island in 2 days, allowing you to come back and explore again. Ronarto was an excellent guide with a warm and friendly approach. Highly recommend this tour
A great way to get a flavor of Madeira. Tour guide Lionel and driver Paulo were excellent. Knowledgeable, great insight and safe driver. Would recommend 100%
Extremely good value for money, interesting and fun, it gave a fabulous opportunity to visit all areas of the island with just the right amount of time dedicated to each stop. The organisation was very professional with updates to my phone informing us of pickups etc. We are so pleased that we chose this excursion. Madeira in two days
This tour was a great way to see a lot of the island without the worry and hassle of driving yourself around. It had many great stops. Our driver, Renato, was a skilled driver, informative and funny. I'd highly recommend this tour.
Incredible experience. We were a group of 15 and loved the 2 day tour of the island. Our tour guide João was amazing. He knows the island very well. He is passionate about Madeira and it comes through, sharing very interesting facts and stories the entire time. Thank you to João for making our experience a memorable one.
Very well organised. Renato was awesome. Funny but knowledgeable. Perfect 2 days. Comfy 16 odd seater bus but clean and AC'd.
It was a very good way to see much of the island in two days. You have enough time at stops and aren't in the car for a big jump of time in between stops
Great experience! The guide tour was amanzing and knowledgeable. Loved everthing that we saw. Only thing was wishing they would use there air condition on the van. Was really hot
Day 2 of our 2 day tour this time the east side of the island. Our guide was Renato he was brilliant and funny really enjoyed today we saw some amazing places and overall all 10/10 for both days
We really enjoyed our 2 day tour, our preferred day was the North and West tour, with the highlights being Camara de Lobos and Port Moniz volcanic pools. Our tour guide Renato was brilliant, providing so much information and humour. Thank you.
This is not what I would call a "guided" tour. It is a driver taking you to places they decide to show. Very little guiding, no help getting to know fellow travelers, and they took us to terribly touristy sites, where we were left to figure out how to spend the alotted time. Not much help with what was worth seeing, where to eat, etc. Example: Snowdonia is on the intinerary but that was just one stop to look at the mountain and then we left. No short hike, nothing. Back in the van!
This was a brilliant introduction to the landscapes, culture, and history of Madeira. Our guide João was fantastic and made sure everyone in the group felt included. If you only have time to do one tour I would recommend the east side of the island as the views from some of the stops are absolutely breathtaking but do both days if you can!
Our driver and tour guide, Gloria, was knowledgeable and informative. We had an hour delay due to a stop at repair shop to repair the van. The air conditioning in the van was inadequate. The back of the van was uncomfortably hot. The two day tour was a good introduction to the island.
