Arieiro Peak, Santana & Ponta São Lourenço In Open Roof 4x4 Tour

We were looking forward to this tour, in particular visiting Pico Do Arierio which was the main attraction of the jeep tour. The company contacted us well in advance to arrange a time slot for when we would be picked up - great - however they didn't tell us that due to the Rally taking place across the island, that this jeep tour wouldn't be visiting Pico de Arierio or ANY of the peaks or high points of the island. We were only told of this at 8:45, pick up time on the morning of the jeep tour. This rally is famous and happens every year - dates are known months and months in advance - so I find it incomprehensible that the company couldn't at least have warned us about potential disruption on this day. Had we known of this, we would have arranged the tour for an earlier day in our holiday - instead, we are left with no time (before we leave) to organise a visit to the mountains, one of the main reasons we came to the island. Hugely disappointing for our entire family including the kids. Poor poor communication - and to top it off, the company hasn't even responded to my multiple attempts to contact them via email and messages. I can't fault the poor driver who did his best to fill the 7 hour trip time with other places around the island but it definitely leaves a bad impression that the main attraction could be seen as optional, and that the company doesn't have the decency to advise of entirely foreseeable issues in advance, instead just telling customers of major change at the point of pick up.

High energy adventure with our driver/guide, Nelson who was very enthusiastic and informative (loves go karting). Nelson took us on some exhilarating off road routes that were only accessible by jeep and his local knowledge. If you like nature and want to avoid the crowds then this tour is highly recommend

The East side of Madeira should not be missed. The walk through the beautiful woods was beautiful. A terrific fun filled day with Diago C! His clients were all ages and stages and he handled each one with grace and fun.

We did the full day 4x4 tour to the east of Madeira.The trip was very enjoyable,interesting and lots of fun.Our guide/driver David was brilliant,he was very knowledgeable and funny making for a great day out. We would definitely recommend this experience.

Our driver David picked us up promptly then another group of 4. David explained exactly what we'd be doing and did it with humour. The Pico first stop was spectacular but just the journey standing up in jeep as we whized past all the vegeation. David told us about the history of island and the rich plant life. Santana for lunch- we ate at restaurant we got dropped off at- Colmo- surprisingly good. We were never more than 20-25 minutes in the jeep at any one time. Fabulous day!

A hugely enjoyable full day visiting a variety of interesting places. Eight in the Jeep with rotation from front facing to rear benches managed by the excellent driver & commentator. The off road drive was great fun. The amount of time at each spot was just right. Overall a brilliant opportunity to see part of the island and highly recommend.

Had a super fun time today on this tour! The hills in Madeira can be a bit terrifying (Lol) but our guide made everything so fun, he was fantastic. Amazing views, some cool experiences and an overall awesome day. I’d highly recommend!

So glad I did this and got to see more of Madeira - a breathtaking island. Host was fun and welcoming. Would go on another tour in a heartbeat.

Amazing day exploring the East of the island with Francesco. Francesco is an experienced and extremely knowledgeable guide and expert driver knowing every nook and cranny of the island. Rainbows came out on a wonderful day!! Thanks again Ray and Roisin (Belfast).

Highly recommend this Madeira day tour for a fun adventurous feeling Jeep drive to see the beautiful sites of the north and east of the island. Our driver Louis was funny and friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the island and ensured we had a great day. There was ample time at each stop with a well planned route fitting in lots of sites along the way, an excellent way to explore the island efficiently and informatively.

Robert was very friendly and he explained a lot of interesting things. We can really recommend doing a tour with Robert . It was a wonderful day.

We enjoyed our trip with Robert, who was cheerful, spoke pretty good English, and drove well. The reason for deduction of a star was the lack of explanation of the rum-making process, and the fairly poor lunch ( for which we paid 20€ extra, albeit with drinks).

Wonderful day. Met 2 minutes from the apartment I was staying out with easy instruction on where to meet my guide who arrived on time. I think our guides name was Luis and he was really good and looked after everyone on the trip, he gave us clear instruction on where we were and what to see and with a little levada walk thrown in it really did make the day enjoyable, it was also fantastic to meet the other people on the tour from Germany and France and a couple of fellow Brits. Luis is a fab driver and we got to see so much unfortunately the weather had been a little bit damp in the days before so we couldn't do the original off road plan but as there was a plan B this was no problem. If visiting Madeira I would highly recommend taking this tour.

One of the best tours we’ve ever been on. Diogo Comacho our guide was brilliant and it was great to see parts of the island that we’d never have found otherwise.

We took a 4x4 tour today with Diogo, what a lovely day we had. Our guide took us to several beautiful spots on Maderia and was full of chat and local information. Would highly recommend this tour as it was a fantastic way to see the island.

The day included a fabulous off-road experience through the lush forests and valleys. The tour is a fabulous way to see and experience the beauty of Madeira. Be prepared for a full body workout courtesy of the Land Rover. This was our second tour with True Spirt - excellent service, Hotel pick up and drop off, friendly and knowledgeable driver/guide.

It’s been my second tour with Diogo and I’d go for another one if I had time. Diogo was born in Madeira and exploring it since childhood, so he is perfect to show you all around, cause he knows each single road without map, he will drive you through hidden and wild roads with spectacular views and nature, but at the same time with maximum safety. He will recommend where to eat and what to it, where get best poncha, where is the best beach and will show you how many and different fruits you can find on island. I was picked up from my apartment at 8:30am and back to town at 4:30pm. We were total 6 people in 4WD jeep with open roof, that’s allowed us to enjoy nature and cool air without AC. Trip is well planned, we arrived to each destination and had enough time to explore it, lunch was at 1pm and with already reserved table and meal, so it was also quick and well arranged. Highly recommend exploring Madeira with Diogo and don’t forget tips for guide 😜

Robert was an amazing host and an even more amazing driver in his Land Rover. We had a very extensive and in-depth tour of the east coast of the island with every plant and creature pointed out to us with a wide variety on show, as the island is unique and absolutely beautiful. We were able to see the motorways, the little local roads and even the off road paths. There was an option to stand up through the off roading which was amazing, a highlight and further emphasised how safe we felt with Roberts driving. We were in a group of eight and Robert was able to speak different languages to accommodate everyone. We opted out of the group meal and Robert was able to even drop us off in a local town providing us an opportunity to explore even more of the local area and came back to pick us up when we were done! We couldn’t suggest this trip more!

The East Ecotour & Santana Jeep Tour was one of the highlights of our stay in Madeira! The route was perfectly planned, from the breathtaking Pico do Arieiro and the Levada walk, the traditional houses in Santana and the stunning scenery at Ponta de São Lourenço. Every stop was unique and absolutely worth it. A very special thank you to our guide, Robert. His warm personality, deep knowledge of the island, and especially the thrilling off-road drives made the tour unforgettable. The off-road sections were so much fun and offered a completely different perspective of Madeira. We also really enjoyed the lunch break, the food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious! We felt comfortable and well taken care of the entire time. Highly recommended, especially with Robert as your guide!

We had the best time with Diego K. He navigated the steep windy roads with ease and we felt 100% safe even on the narrowest paths! We also did the West of the island tour with him earlier in the week which was amazing. This East of the island tour is so underrated - the pictures do not do it justice. Better view points and less busy than the West tour. The forrests for the off roading sections were thrilling and smelled so fresh. Hanging out the roof of the 4x4, you feel so free. Lunch in Santana was delicious, we ate at Cantino de Serra (absolute bargain - 20 euro for a 3 course meal with drinks and massive portions!). Definitely recommend the pork main course (the octopus is also nice but the pork is better). Also the passionfruit dessert is not to be missed. There was a vegetarian in our group who said the pasta was really good too. This was the best tour of our Madeiran adventure. It should definitely be on your itinerary

It was my 2nd trip with Diogo, I would love to recomend it to you! This side of island is less visited by tourists so you can enjoy pure nature, Diogo will show you some hidden gems of f the island and lead you for the dinner to the local restaurant! For me it was 5/5 adventure!

I loved this. Our guide tailored the whole experience to our needs. He loved showing off his island. He picked me up from my hotel, which was out of the way for a 20€ supplement (cash).

A tour in which we had all 4 seasons of the year on the same day and it was amazing!!!! Nature, travel, views, food and drinks, certainly a tour that you must do at least once in your life in Madeira. Antonio's attention was incredible, always very attentive and wise about the island!!!!

Great tour. Lots of different stops at different landscapes and experiences. The off road drives were fantastic . Great fun and expertly driven by our guide Tony, who was also very knowledgeable about the plants and trees we saw. Well paced to give you opportunity to take photographs etc . Some walking involved

Everything was great, our guide Tony did everything possible to make sure we had a great time, the lunch was delicious and filling, we tried the local rum and were very pleased! I recommend it

Fantastic experience! Our guide, Francisco, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and kept us well informed about the itinerary throughout the day. He allowed plenty of time to explore each location and made sure everyone had a great time on the tour.

Toni (not Antonio) was AMAZING!! So fun and funny and awesome driver. The off roading was great. Also pointed out a lot about island history and flora/fauna which was really cool!

An exhilarating trip which took in the main sites of the East - the views were absolutely stunning. The off road experience in the jeep was fun! We also drove on many of the narrow and steep old roads, which was good to avoid the tourist routes and to see some of the traditional life. Gill was passionate about the island and knew a lot about the flowers and plants and he kept us entertained. Lunch (not included) was very good in a small family cantina which was tucked away. A great day!

Totally worth it - best way to experience the east side island highlights. Our Madeiran guide Louis was the best - full of information/detail in English & French on the tours I took part in. Jeep tour was exciting, covering on & off road routes. Lovely stop at Faial for lunch.
