Edi was an excellent tour guide of the East side of Madeira. He pointed out all the flora and fauna and told us recounted with passion and local knowledge that really brought the island to life. The view points showed off the stunning g scenery and the off road section in the 4x4 was fun. Overall a great value day trip and a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Funchal. I would highly recommend Edi and the tour.

Fantastic day out with our guide Gil – friendly, knowledgeable, and great fun. The views from Pico do Areeiro were stunning (so lucky with the weather!), and the Balcões Levada walk was short, easy, and beautiful. Loved the off-roading – exciting but safe thanks to Gil’s expert driving. The traditional houses at Santana were a lovely stop, full of character. São Lourenço’s dramatic cliffs were a perfect end to the day. Highly recommend this tour – and especially Gil!

Fantastic tour with a wonderful guide Diogo Camacho. Diogo drives the crazy hills and narrow roads like a pro; he’s also very knowledgeable of the history and plant life of Madeira, pointing out numerous flowers, trees and fruits along our route. This tour included gorgeous views and hiking at Mount Aeirio and Sao Lourenco, the Balcoes levada, and skywalks. The forests and driving off road were breathtaking, much like the Pacific northwest of the US and so different from the western side of the island. Both tours with True Spirit are exceptional. I recommend thus your highly!

It was the perfect mix for a day. A bit of everything for a good trip. We especially enjoyed the peak.

This tour was amazing, the views from all the stops were just breathtaking. Our guide Jill was an excellent driver, plus very friendly and he also provided us with so many interesting facts about the Madeira island as such. Overall, it was a fun, interesting trip, including the off road drive. Definitelly recommend to everyone.

The tour through the east of Madeira is very varied and worth seeing. We especially liked the off-road section and the lunch at the trout pond. Chris was a super guide, his English was excellent and clearly understandable, just as well we could talk with him German. He was very skilled in handling the jeep. The tour is varied and goes up to one of the highest points on the island. We had unfortunately not so good weather and were glad to have warm clothes with us. The levada hike was a welcome change and led us directly to the trout farm. We can only recommend this tour.

What a great day out on the 4x4 Eastern island tour. Rui was a great guy his English was excellent and he was very knowledgeable about the island. He could certainly handle the 4x4 very well and we felt very safe with his driving. It was a varied day with a drive up to one of the highest points in the island. Take warm clothes and waterproofs as it was cold and damp in the clouds. We did some off roading and a levada walk all good fun. Lunch was at a trout farm and you could catch your own trout for lunch if you wanted to. After a great lunch it was off again for more lovely views over the island. All in all a great day and would recommend the trip to anyone.

We had a wonderful time with this activity. Part of it was luck with the weather but we also had a great and very funny guide. Going offroad was great fun, but my highlight was fishing my own fish at the Biosphere Reserve. I would definitely recommend taking the fish and also bringing a jacket with you as it gets quite cold at the mountain top.

I found the off-road drive and the hike on the levada to be the best. The visit to the fish farm and lunch was also good. For me a bit of plant knowledge, but otherwise a nice experience again.

Loved the off road experience and the raw beauty of the forest and Hui was the most friendliest person we have ever met, very engaging. Plenty of stunning photo opportunities on the way to the top of the island and a welcome lunch after a 30 minute walk through lush forest. Fantastic value for money.

My favourite part was Rui the guide. He was full of great facts and knowledge and had a great sense of humour. He was attentive to everyone's needs and may the whole day so enjoyable. Catching and eating our own fish for lunch was a tick box exercise for my wife who thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Probably one of the best tours in Madeira made even better by our excellent driver and knowledgeable tour guide Rui. Rui not only gave us information about the places we visited but also the islands history, vegetation, and other places we may wish to visit on the island. Rui took us to amazing view points, off road tracks and trails and on a beautiful Lavada walk. Other companies my offer this type of tour but this company deliver everything they advertise and much more. I would highly recommend this company for any of the tours they offer and if you get Rui as your guide it will be a huge bonus! Rui you really made our day special!!

Rui as a guide, nice, funny, knowing what he talks about. The tour itself is well planned, the landscape is amazing. At the biosphere reservation the fishing experience, i can say i never had a fish that was served fresher as well as the beef grilled on laurel sticks was top notch

Thoroughly recommend this amazing trip. Our tour guide Bruno was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. We loved all of it: the off road experience (especially by my 16yr old son), the levada walk, incredible views especially from the highest and most eastern points and fishing for my lunch which I have never done before! The 4x4 ride made it such fun and nice to get to know our fellow passengers over a relaxing lunch.

Absolutely fabulous day out from start to finish, our guides Rui and Paulo were great hosts, we saw the most amazing sights up in the mountains, had a lovely lunch which I caught myself (trout) and they cooked on the barbecue, a fun fay out for all the family, would highly recommend. This is a great way to see a bit of Madeira.

A fabulous experience. We were shown different aspects of the island, including peaks and valleys, inland landscapes and sea scapes. We went on a (short) levada walk and visited an eco trout farm where we learned about the farm and and caught our own lunch! Our guide forthe day, Ruben, was well-informed and entertaining and really helped our group to gel which made the day a wonderful and memorable day for all of us in so many ways. Highly recommended. We would have no hestitation in choosing another of True Spirit's tours on our next visit to Madeira.

Overall a fantastic experience and best way to see the eastern side of the island. The open roof 4x4 is really fun and the views are stunning. Our guide Bruno was very friendly and informative.

A fantastic trip throughout, it was so much fun, and a great way to see the beauty of east Madeira from the back of an open top 4x4. There were amazing views, top class food and it was brilliantly organised and run by True Spirit whose guides (especially Antonio) made the day so much more enjoyable. It's also a chance to meet great people. Adding to that the underlying philanthropic and environmental benefit being received from the trip made it even more worthwhile. Can't recommend this enough. Perfect.

We were picked up by our great guide for the day (Rui Silva) who was enthusiastic and very friendly! What a great day, we visited a private Laural forest where we were introduced to all the native trees and wildlife, a fantastic Waterfall as well. After a superb lunch we had a great 4x4 experience and afterwards a lovely wine tasting afternoon!! We would like to thank both our great guide Rui and the wine team for such a memorable experience!!

We were traveling with Gil on this cool tour of eastern Madeira. From plant science, to tasting Maracujas, to off-road stretches with an open roof, we explored the wonderful landscape of Madeira. our driver Gil was very experienced and knew many adventurous trails that you would not travel even as a tourist. That took the whole thing to another level. Nature speaks for itself! Absolute recommendation for a bit of action!

Unfortunately, the weather was not so good, but Chris always had an alternative and "saved" the trip with his friendly, communicative nature.

It was a beautiful trip. Bruno is a very good driver and always gives very informative explanations. He showed us see beautiful places of the island that we as "normal" tourists would not have found. The off-road routes and the lunch break were particularly exciting.

Very nice tour, off road was really great . The lunch was incredible, on a sustainable organic farm , we were allowed to catch our own fish and could watch the preparation on an open fire . Highly recommended. The guide was a great rider, on the steepest climbs , on his “shortcuts”, knew all about the flora and fauna , very well and interestingly explained . Would recommend this tour to anyone!
