Amazing West - Jeep Safari Tour - Full Day - Shared Tour

I’m impressed with driver skills in ability and the attention to details for over explaining without Fatigue, He was genuinely generous in allowing us more minutes while we visited certain locations, I made my best not to let the group wait 🤗 for me 🙏

Great day with our guide / driver Carl. Really friendly and knowledgeable about the island and particularly about the plants and wildlife. We left the tour tired and very happy. We were greeted and treated as friends, the atmosphere was relaxed and we enjoyed coffee with Carl and the rest of the group and some random conversations (his jokes need work though 😆). If we were to book again we’d definitely ask for him and hopefully he’d be up for another day with a landrover full of celts!

Amazing tour, genuinely a full day and great fun on the small roads and off road sections. Our driver (Have forgotten your name, sorry, possibly Gabriel?) was a good laugh and at times was like we had a roller coaster ride as much as a tour. He also knew his stuff, and showed a genuine love for the island, being a born and bred local. Loved every minute.

Super day out, great driving by Antonio. Good amount of time at each location. Laurel Forest was cool and eerie with the fog rolling in.

We have done a number of tours and the one we dis with Antonio yesterday from start to finish was fantastic! His local knowledge is amazing backed up with some hilarious wit along the way, keeping everyone laughing. Even some of the more timid ones in the jeep were made to feel safe throughout so that everyone could enjoy the experience. We especially loved the salt water pools, and found a very nice spot at the pool Bar to sip on rum and cokes after our swim, while watching the waves... paradise. We will be back, and would do this again... highlight of our trip. Thank you Antonio.

Fantastic experience. Our driver/guide David was on time for our pickup. The adventure started from the moment we entered the Land Rover. He was informative and funny at the same time. Very knowledgeable. We experienced the full range of Madeiran roads, many very steep and narrow. The views were amazing and the weather kind even at the Fanal stop in the mountains. Highly recommended.

We did the Amazing West tour (English language) with Ricardo as our guide. He was very knowledgeable and engaging, telling stories about the island and funny anecdotes throughout the trip. Couldn't ask for a better guide. The sights of the island were wonderful and we are really glad we went on a guided tour instead of solo so we got to hear the context of the places from the perspective of a local. We learned a lot about the island and had a wonderful day, thank you Ricardo!

Absolutely fantastic day. Views were amazing. Trip had a lot of interesting stops. Ricardo was a great tour guide. With sense of humor and a lot of interesting facts about Madeira he made the day great. I can honestly recommend the tour and I would like to experience it again.

Antonio gave us the most fun day out in the jeep, the off road section was fantastic and he had so much knowledge of all the places he took us to on the tour. A great way to get to know the island if, like us, you haven't been before.

Our guide, Antonio, arrived early. He was friendly and a walking encyclopedia of Madeira. His English was fluent so we had a very lively exchange throughout the day. The off-road experience was bone-shaking and exhilarating, and the fresh scent of the eucalyptus plants, along with other flora, perfumed the air. One regret was we could not experience the mystical forest because it was very cold. So for anyone going on the all-day jeep tour, bring a cover-up. Thank you, Jeep Safari Tours and Antonio for a memorable vacation.

WoW what a great day ! 😎 Didn’t expect to see so much and the jaw dropping awesomeness of the scale and variety of eco systems and the vastness of mother natures creation. We had a fantastic guide and driver called Jose. In fact he made the day with his expert driving and knowledge of the island and is a massive asset to your company. The lunch deal he arranged at the hotel over looking the natural pools was great value for a 3 course meal including a decent sized glass of good local wine. The trip took around 8 hours but seemed like it was over in the blink of eye and time does fly when your having fun.😎 Enjoyed it so much booking another trip this week to do another part of the Island with you. Great value for money and if your lucky enough to have Jose as your tour guide that will be the icing on the cake for you we are sure.

The ride was amazing, we drove through the beautiful and wild mountains of Madeira, and then along a bit of northern shore. The views were breathtaking, and the driver, Bruno, told us a lot about what we saw during our trip, and about Madeira. You can also ask the driver to book you a dinner in a restaurant on the way. Excellent service and experience. Try and you will not regret.

A fabulous trip into the mountains over rough tracks. Be prepared to be bumped and jolted! Too long in Porto Moniz unless you want to swim. Don't take the set lunch option, better to find your own. Also freezing cold driving through clouds at altitude, take warm coat and hat. Overall a very good day out seeing parts of the island you normally wouldn't get to.

We really enjoyed the tour hosted by Jazz. From start to finish he was smiling and courteous making sure everyone was comfortable. You get to see lovely peaks of the island where you wouldn’t be able to go in a hire car as it’s off road. Bumpy but fun. Porto Moniz is very pretty. If you fancy a dip take your swim gear. Jazz was also good at sharing his knowledge. Not easy when you’ve got a mixed group of French & English.

This was an amazing trip. Driver Eddie can certainly handle the vehicle in the most exciting way, despite deep potholes and narrow roads and I never felt concerned at any time. Eddie was a great guide throughout the day . The off road experience was amazing with opportunities for stops along the way. We were lucky with the weather today and Madeira is such a beautiful island. I would definitely do another experience with this company, but mostly thanks to Eddie

What a wonderful way to explore the magical west coast of the awe inspiring island of Madeira. My partner and I booked the “Amazing West” experience via our hotel, Pestana Grand. Severino was our tour guide and driver for the day and he was the key element that made this whole trip work so well. We were picked up outside reception just before 9am. We were in a Land Rover with six other passengers, all of which were from France. They were all super friendly and very welcoming. Severino was able to easily swap between French, English and his native Portuguese to communicate with everyone fluently. He had an immensely detailed understanding of the island mixed with a sharp sense of humour. All of this together demonstrates his expertise, knowledge and passion for the job he loves and the island he comes from. The tour is a full day and takes you through all of the key highlights of the western part of the island including the Paúl de Serra plateau, Fanal’s ancient forest, Porto Moniz and the stunning (and frightening!) vista of Cabo Girão (2nd highest sea cliff in Europe). All of this mixed with an exhilarating off-road section made for a fantastic day exploring this magical island!!

Fantastic experience, my friend and I loved it. David the guide/driver was brilliant, very kind, helpful, knowledgable and funny. His jokes made us laugh. The length of time at some of the stops could have been 10 minutes longer but then that would have added another hour to the trip. David was clearly liked by the locals who all waved to him when he was on the little back roads. Loved the local knowledge and information about the culture of the bananas, vines and sugar cane! Our swim in the natural pools in the north of the island was wonderful. Well worth the money.

We have been to Madeira many times but the Amazing West open top jeep tour was a truly fantastic experience showing us a side to Western Madeira which was completely new to us. The open top landrover defender took us off road over mountain trails from shining sea to shining roaring sea with many stops and time to explore and photograph the magnificent scenery along the way. Our driver Severino’s commentary on our journey kept us entertained in a style that would have been the envy of any stand up comedian. Thanks to Severino, and his faithful Defender for a fantastic tour and an unforgettable experience. We truly recommend it.

I would have given 5 stars if it weren’t for a couple of things. overall it was a good trip.. weather was changeable which didn’t help as we had a lot of fog at times which meant we didn’t get all the benefits of off roading in the mountain or the sea cliff, but that’s just the way it goes and it was still great fun and the mist lent it’s own charm to the experience. The off road up through the mountain was definitely an experience not to be missed and worth going for.. def better than a minibus. Then saw some fabulous views from Fanal where the sun came out, lovely stop in Porto Munoz with the pools. It was a great way to see the island in its glory. Tour guide was very pleasant and had a good sense of humour and looked after the guests. On other things, I was a little disappointed that we didnt get much commentary about Madeira during the trip… there were a few interesting snippets about flora and fauna and a little about some places we drove past, but nothing really to give much of an idea about the history of the island … to be fair it wasn’t advertised as that so it’s a personal thing really and might not bother anybody else. It’s a fabulous way to get a feel for the island and its geography, but not if you are looking for a more in-depth tour guide/history. Other than that, the only other point was to be aware that you may end up on the benches in the back which isn’t exactly comfortable. nobody expects a land rover to be comfortable but there were four people (3 men) crammed onto the benches which by the end was hard going for them (my other half was one of them) . It would be much better if they limited to maybe 2-3 in the back Final note, it felt like we were dropped off 45 mins earlier than expected .. the latter half of the day felt more like just a drive back from the pools.. albeit along some beautiful roads.. don’t know whether we skipped a stop or two? Whether it Was because it was raining by then? Or whether they were supposed to be drive bys anyway? It wasn’t really made very clear.. overall still a very enjoyable day, I’d do it again … just go with the right expectations

We did the amazing west Porto Monica tour. Our guide Vitor was so friendly and informative , it was a fun tour especially the off road part. Also lovely to swim in the lava pools. We would have liked to of spent longer in the forest and stopped more to photograph and see the mountains. It was a friendly combination of other nationalities on this trip . Don’t take large bags as very little room in jeep.

My wife and I went on the Amazing West Porto Moniz tour with our driver Ricardo. The tour itself was great but was enhanced by Ricardo who provided us with an illuminating and amusing commentary along the way. Ricardo is very knowledgeable and as well as conversations about the island's flora and fauna (including the local whale population), we also covered history, local politics, beer & wine! The journey goes off road into the mountains and provides some great views, then visits the indigenous Laurisilva forest and ends up in Port Moniz, where you can enjoy a pleasant lunch with fantastic views of the dramatic sea and coastline. On the way back we skirted along the coast to Sao Vicente which included some magnificent coastal views before heading inland again and back home via Cabo Girao for more amazing views. A great trip which will remain long in the memory. Thanks Ricardo for making it a great day!

Ricard was super knowledgeable and lots of fun to spend the day with. My children and I loved standing up out if the jeep on the off road sections! A great day out and I would highly recommend it (take a warm jumper!)

Booked the tour after been recommended by other holiday makers and wow what a fantastic day .Driver/ tour guide Ricardo was superb with his knowledge on evert aspect of the trip from the flora to the history of the island.Great views and experience backed up with a perfect lunch completed an amazing experience.

We did the full day trip with Ricardo. He is a brilliant guide and very knowledgeable. Unfortunately near the end of the trip I was taken ill and I would like to thank him so much for his care and help. I am fine now but, again, many thanks Ricardo. We still enjoyed the day and would highly recommend it.

Picked up on time, really friendly guide From the start he was very knowledgable and so passionate about the island.The off road part was amazing, then across the island we drove, fantastic views and lots of information given.Porto Moniz was beautiful, we opted for the meal, which was very good value and delicious , and had time to swim in the pools.Finished off with the skywalk for some amazing views from the cliff. Would definitely recommend to do this when visiting Madeira.

Great day out. Funny and informative guide (Serge) with lots of chances for 'beautiful photos'. Highlight was standing in the back of the jeep on the off road sections and the incredible views. This trip allowed us to see much more of the island we would have struggled to do alone.

I would recommend the trip to everyone. Our driver was Sergio. He was super funny and told us a lot of interesting stories about the island. He helped us to create a memory which will stay with us forever :) Thank you once again!

We booked on line a month ahead. Only criticism would be that the 2 message, with enquiries about pick up etc , that I sent before the trip were not replied to. However I did get a booking reminder/confirmation email the day before the trip,which reassured me that all was well and the trip was definitely on. So we just trusted to fate and sat tight in our hotel reception for pick up on the day. Our driver/guide ( Louis) was brilliant. He was extremely knowledgeable, informative and had great sense of humour! A lot of time is spent in the vehicle but that has to be expected if you want to squeeze so many sights/landmarks into one day. The off roading section off the trip was bone rattling fun and gave us the opportunity to see nature at its best. We had 10 - 20 mins at each stop with a break of 2 hours in Porto Moniz. Tip = Take a picnic lunch and forego the optional restaurant meal if you want to have plenty of time for a swim in the pools. We had the restaurant meal which was good value (main + dessert and glass of wine + coffee included) It was an exhausting and full on day but well worth it. Driving up through heavily scented eucalyptus forest, surrounded by clouds - then surfacing above the clouds was wonderful. I particularly enjoyed Fanal with its eerie laurel trees - trailing with moss , lichens and dripping with condensation from the clouds.

I was so apprehensive about a Jeep tour but thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a great way to travel about the island as you can travel on narrow roads and off the beaten track. You see so much more than in a coach or minibus and can get closer to things like waterfalls. Our driver Dino was crazy, we screamed, laughed and had an amazing time. He took us to see some wonderful sights, was very accommodating and a really nice guy. The weather was not brilliant on the day we travelled but this did not deter us, in fact the rain added to our adventure.

Myself and my husband shared a jeep with 2 other couples and our driver/tour guide, Fillipa. It was an awesome trip with tight bends, sheer drops and off road driving. Our driver to us to scenic places and gave us plenty of time to wander and take pictures. We booked our lunch with him for €15 at Sea View restaurant in Porto Moniz. This was a lovely clean restaurant and the food exceeded our expectations by far. The trip was very enjoyable from start to finish and we would highly recommend to anyone.

Where do I start! This company and their team are absolutely amazing. We did the Santana Combo Tout and had such a great time, we booked the Amazing West two days later! Michael and Dino where our drivers. Both great company, great fun and get the balance just right. We went off road, hung out the top of the Land Rover Defenders, climbed steep, narrow roads and saw so much of the island as well as some secrets and surprises. Both guys were brilliant hosts too, knowledgeable and Madeira born and bred. Pick up and drop off at your hotel, bang on time both occasions. If you do one thing in Madeira, book an expedition with them! Highly recommended 😊

A fantastic round tour in a beautiful landscape - among high mountains, along the waterfront, a little off road, some very steep shortcuts to give us the best views and nice stops so that we could enjoy the scenery and also had time for an excellent lunch and a visit natural rock pools where we had a chance to swim! On top of all, the tour guide was excellent! We can really recommend this trip!

Absolutely brilliant way of exploring Madeira and its beauty. Our skilled driver, Miquel Olim, was friendly, very knowledgeable and full of interesting facts; taking the whole journey at the right pace – he made this trip really special in every way. We would certainly opt for this “off-road adventure” again and discover another part of the island. Thank you!

Really nice experience with tour guide, David. A real character who has great local knowledge and a good sense of humour. The jeep tour definitely seemed the right choice for us, as it was different interesting, open air and you got to see some areas of Madeira which are away from the madding crowds.
