We had a great time with our guide, he was very knowledgable on all the plants and trees on the walk

Reviews
The tour was excellent and low-difficulty. Darya was also an excellent guide
Great walk with Daria who explained everything very well, gave us lots of information about the local nature and was very good company.
Joao was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. On the 1-1/2 hour drive to Rabacal, he prepared us for much of what to expect. Extraordinary forest setting with incredible lush vistas. Our group of eleven was the perfect size for comradery and for Joao to keep track of each of us. My husband and I (mid & early 60s) expected an 8-mile hike, but weren't quite prepared for a few intense stair-climbing areas. I would still classify the hike as "moderate," but in the description perhaps include a bit about the severe inclines. Cannot comment on the admission fee, as the hike was arranged as part of our vacation package. Altogether a truly wonderful experience.
Great tour guide, really knowledgeable on both the trail and area
It was adventurous and exciting to see all of the natural beauty in Madeira! Be prepared for a moderate hike up and down stairs and a tunnel!!
The guide was great and very knowledgable about the flaura and fauna, if you like hiking it’s a must. For the waterfall bring swimming shoe or something as the rocks are quite sharp there.
Fabulous day had with our guide and driver, Ben. Very knowledgeable and friendly and we both enjoyed our walk and the company of our group. The walk itself is set mostly through trees and does have many steps, both up and down. Finishing with a walk through a 800 metre tunnel. Highly recommended.
A great trip but be warned there’s a lot of steps down and up- a reasonable level of fitness required. Waterproof hiking boots would also be a good idea for walking through the tunnel at the end- the water will potentially come up to your ankles. Our guide Marta was fantastic!!
Excellent 10k hike through the forest and levadas. Beautiful, lush forest, wild flowers and running water and waterfalls - stunning. Lots of steps up and down but well worth the effort. Highly recommend.
Decent walk through to the Levada then through a tunnel to the other side. Review online say this is a hard walk but it’s mostly flat with stairs up and down. I would say most age groups and fitness levels can do this hike no problem, if you have issues with stairs I would not recommend.
What a wonderful day. The weather was not great, cloudy, windy, cool with some heavy rain showers, but once up the mountain, it was so beautiful regardless. The walk was easy, apart from a long flight of stairs which Ben, our guide, just encouraged us to take our time over. Waterproof shoes with good grip are a good idea, waterproof jacket and a warm layer would make it more comfortable. Ben's knowledge of the Island and his communication were excellent. The stop at the cafe before and after the walk to use facilities and have refreshments was helpful. Walking along the full, flowing levada was so relaxing. A beautiful way to understsnd and appreciate the uniqueness of this island. Would recommend.
A lovely hike with many steps -mainly down, but a few up. Daria was clear with instructions and navigated us well and provided great instruction for what would be ahead. Well organised! The bus driver, Carlos, was pleasant and efficient!
We had a wonderful day and would like to thank Daria our tour guide . She was excellent and never rushed us as we were with our autistic son. And a big thank you to the lovely driver Calos for taking us on the tour and specially for bringing back my son’s power bank and charger that he had left in the bus . He was very happy to have it . Thank you to Madeira adventure kingdom for an excellent service
Great guide - friendly, funny and gave lots of context and information throughout the tour. The hike/walk is definitely beginner friendly as well. Very pleased to have booked this tour. Would recommend :)
This trail has become so popular that it is overcrowded and according to our guide the day that we went was not particularly busy. It is a lovely walk, but I suspect Instagram has done for it, as so many people want to take their “selfie” by the pool at the end. They ignore the signs directing them to adhere to “one way” narrow sections and drop litter everywhere, our guide collected a bagful of it on the return. It is possible to do the 5 km trail without a guide as it’s there and back to the pool, so you can’t get lost. You need to watch your head especially if you are tall as there are lots of low overhanging branches and take a proper torch for the 800 metre tunnel; the torch on a mobile phone isn’t adequate.
Great hike!!!! Few uphills and downhills but moderate . Love love the hike!!!!! Mostly trails are covered with trees . Our guide and driver are amazing!! Friendly and pleasant !
Absolutely recommend - guide was lovely & very knowledgeable, walk was beautiful and interesting & everything was well organised.
Our guide Maria was incredible. She took use through the lushes Forrest (felt like the Amazon) the walk itself wasn’t difficult as it was mainly walking down steps with a few steps up. A lot to fitness is not required but comfy shoes is a must.
We had a phenomenal day with our guide, Marta. She was an excellent driver and guide, taking our safety seriously throughout the day. She was also very knowledgeable and friendly, which made the experience even better. The tour itself is wonderful. The walk is set in a stunning location and was the highlight for us. While the fountains are quite busy with tourists, we especially enjoyed the walk. Be prepared for plenty of stairs up and down, so a reasonable level of fitness is helpful. One of the most memorable parts was finishing with an 800m walk through a dark, wet tunnel — a real adventure and great fun! I would recommend bringing a good packed lunch, as the supermarket stop on the way is quite basic.
The hike is along a very crowded route but the nature is absolutely stunning and the guide made the most of it by telling us about the local trees and plants, fantastic!
It was a beautiful, well paced, well informed hike which was excellently led by our delightful guide, Nuno!
Excellent hike. Beautiful scenery and well organised pick up. Great informative guide. Lovely way to experience different area of Madeira
We were very fortunate to get great weather for our hike which made such a difference. Expected the walk to be more open rather than through the trees but still a great day out. Took us under 3 1/2 hours including lunch break.
The actual walking trip took about 4 hours although the coach journey each way took about one and a half hours due to picking up people at various locations. The route once we got on to the Levadas was very busy as was the area around the 25 fountains waterfall. It should be noted that the walk includes lots of downwards steps which were both uneven and slippery. I think the description of the tour should make this clearer. The guide was very informative and did his best to keep the group together in the busy areas and repeated his safety warnings throughout the walk. The walk through the unlit tunnel near the end of the walk was OK but might concern anybody with claustrophobia. Overall a good experience but I would have enjoyed it more if there were fewer slippery steps! Also the half hour stop at the Cafe on the journey back seemed unnecesary and added nothing to the trip as people would have wanted to get back to their hotels.
This is a moderate hiking experience but has a lot of steps up and down and is very crowded. So crowded that the beauty at the end of the hike is compromised because there isn’t room to sit and enjoy it.
Fantastic full day out. Great hike, lots of steps and an 800m tunnel to finish off. Our guide, Samuel was so knowledgeable and put safety first the whole trip. Carlos the driver was pleasant and negotiated the busy roads well.
When the rainy weather overflowed the intended Levada hike, our guide brought us to another location. Weather was also better at this location a little farther down the mountain, and we ended up having the most beautiful hike with a rainbow view and informative information about the island’s history and nature along the way.
Really enjoyed this walk not to much uphill the views were lovely and waterfalls beautiful, mostly undercover in the trees and along the levada my favourite was walking through the 800mtr tunnel opens up onto the most beautiful view of the sea with wild Lillies Perfect way to finish the walk, thank you to Daria our guide who was very passionate and clearly loved her job
A very good trip with a lot of beautiful scenery. The guide was excellent and gave us a lot of information about our trip. He ensured that our trip was very safe. I would recommend this trip.
Excellent walk through the forest to see waterfallls and Levada Reuben tour guide was very good and had lots of knowledge a few steps on journey but ok if fit Would reco
We found this to be a really enjoyable walk. Our guide Rueben was extremely friendly and took the time to explain what would happen during the walk as we arrived. As we exited the minibus however the weather was very windy and quite misty, very different from the sunny day when we had been picked up, but Rueben assured us that this would quickly improve as we dropped down - which it did. During the walk Rueben made sure he kept the group together and provided a variety of information about the plant and bird life seen. The walk itself wasn’t difficult, mainly downhill, but did have a short, steep series of steps about 2/3rds the way along; however people were encouraged to take this at their own pace. The final section took us through an 800 metre tunnel which was dark and wet under foot so a torch is needed, or at least a phone light. Overall we were really pleased to have chosen this 11k walk, we had a small group of 11 people of various ages, I was the oldest at 68, who all kept up the pace without any problems so would recommend this as a fantastic way to see a little bit more of the island in more detail but hopefully the weather will be a little bit kinder when you do it. We would like to once again thank Rueben and Martha, who drove the minibus, for a great day out and would recommend this walk with Adventure Kingdom to anyone who has a reasonable level of fitness and wants to experience a little bit more of what Madeira has to off.
We enjoyed a mostly moderate 12.5km hike within the central Madeiran mountains, with plenty of natural beauty to observe such as deep forested valleys and waterfalls several hundred feet tall. The 25 fountains waterfall pit stop was well worth it and walking along the man-made lavradores water channels (that channel the water from the mountain tops to the villages) that hug many of the paths, was simply unique. Our guide, Marta, who spoke fluent English, German and Portuguese, shared with us her vast knowledgeable of the surroundings and was unfailingly pleasant throughout the entirety of our adventure. Overall, this full day experience was well worth our time and expense.
Amazing trip beautiful 25 fountains, Beautiful place, our guide very helpful friendly funny man Just go and you will not regret even for a second
It was amazing hike with very friendly guide Daria.. we had s great time asking questions and learning more and more about Madeira and it's culture
The tour was fantastic, big thanks to Martha who is so passionate and lovely and really looked after everyone. I would highly recommend!!!
A fantastic experience, absolutely made by the passion for nature and expertise of our guide Ruben. Highly recommend this hiking tour.
Really great hike, not too difficult for those who are moderately active. Martha was fantastic super motivated and made the hike enjoyable. It took around 2.5 hours and we had around 30 minutes to see the water fall. Luckily we went off peak and the views were fantastic. Martha explained things incredibly well along the hike! Carlos was fantastic tooo
The 21 springs and waterfall walk was great, made even better by Samuel, our guide’s happy and friendly manner
This was a beautiful hike led by Marta. She was an incredible guide and was able to manage a large group with many different levels of abilities. The hike is pretty easy for those who walk often. I would definitely book again!
A very good tour to the 25 Fontaines wot incredibly nature, and Martha is just a SUPER GUIDE, awys smiling and easy to talk with
Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient tour guide. Respectful and told us lots about Madeira and its fauna and flora. (Thanks Ruben). Minibus had air con and was sensibly driven. Really enjoyed the trip. Thank you.
Great walk with a great guide (Ruben). Without a guide it would have been easy to go off track, as there were alternative routes crossing (signs were available, however). It was comforting to have a guide to point to where we were going. Great drive to and from the levada. Felt safe with driver Miguel. The roads are quite steep so I wouldn’t want to drive myself.
The trip was amazing, our guide was amazing as well. The 25 fountains stop is disappointing, too many influencers occupy the place for photoshoots. Other stops and views are really beautiful so its worth it.
Samuel was a very informative guide. Our group had several age ranges and he made sure everyone was included and looked after. From when we were picked up to the end of the day our guide was imparting his knowledge of the island to us all.
Very busy but a very fun hike. Highly recommend! Lovely cafe near the start. Waterfalls are popular and get very busy however we still really enjoyed ourselves.
I walked 25 fontes route and the new Stairway to Heaven route on different days. Both fantastic. Really, really excellent guides shared plenty of knowledge along the way. I particularly enjoyed the Stairway to Heaven for the vistas above the cloud lines across incredible peaks. As well as these two hikes, I took a sunset catamaran trip, a jeep tour and a mini bus tour. All activities were well organised and all communication at the organising stage when I had questions, and during when a change needed to be made the day before, was efficient and super friendly. All in all, Madeira Adventure Kingdom helped maximise the enjoyment and fun of my island holiday. I recommend highly.
The hike was easy and memorable. The views were very nice, and the guide (Ruben) was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the hike, flora and fauna. Marta was a super safe and reliable driver. Highly recommended!
Route itself was beautiful, the last part was especially good since there were not a lot of people on a way to Calheta. Guide was making stops along the way to share info so the tempo was good and not stressful
The hike was great and the views are amazing. But the tour guide was rude, condescending, and ruined the beauty of the hike. His attitude was unpleasant and acted like he was doing us a favor. I would use a different tour company next time.
