We had a really pleasant stay at Vila Baleira Hotel Funchal. Our room was clean and tidy, with a nice little seating area and balcony. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice but could be a bite crowded sometimes.
The lobby has a relaxed atmosphere with a nice bar, and the rooftop terrace with the pool is a great spot to enjoy the sunset. The location is excellent, right in the centre with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The underground parking is also very convenient and well organised with a hotel access card. Overall, a comfortable hotel in a great location!

Overall, it was a very good experience, nice rooms it has a pool in the 4th floor with nice views to the city.
The service overall okay, however, the waiters disappeared quite often mostly from the bar / pool area.
If you visit the hotel this summer I highly recommend considering to choose another hotel if you would like to rest (in quiet). There is a construction site (with loud demolition work) the hotel did not announce this in advance and the work will continue on weekends as well from 8:00 to 18:00.
Unfortunately, this greatly spoiled the feeling of relaxation.
Great location. A nice walk to the old town. Beautiful roof top pool, with clear ocean views. Very clean, decent breakfast. You can order à la carte as well, which is included in your breakfast package.
Stayed at Vila Baleira Funchal with fairly standard expectations for a 4-star hotel, but unfortunately the experience did not meet them.
The main issue was the noise level in the room. Directly opposite the hotel there appears to be a night venue / adult establishment, which generates constant noise, music, and disturbances late into the night. As a result, sleep quality was extremely poor. This is something that, in my opinion, guests should be clearly informed about in advance.
Aside from that, the room itself was quite basic and lacked the level of comfort you would normally expect at this price point. Cleanliness was acceptable, but overall the property feels more like an average hotel rather than a 4-star experience.
When raising the issue with the staff, no effective solution was offered, which was disappointing.
Overall, not a terrible stay, but definitely not aligned with the rating or price. I would likely choose a different property next time.
A very nice hotel with an excellent location. Across the street for the the bus to the old town. Daily house keeping does a fantastic job cleaning and restocking the rooms.
The breakfast is outstanding. Lots of choices. Many fresh fruits, fresh pastries and hot items. There is also a menu to order from which includes specialty coffees, omelettes and pancakes. Serving staff are friendly, polite and very efficient.
