I booked this tour to experiance whilst in Frankfurt, however, unfortunatly a couple of days before it was suppose to occur. It was cancelled by the company. They sent me a message, in German, even though i had booked an english speaking tour 🙄. As i was travelling, I only had occasional access to my emails, and didnt find out it was cancelled till after i waited at the meeting point for 30minutes! I've asked for a full refund, however, they are yet to get back to me!! 🤷

Horrible. Complete no show. Tried to message through Viator to find out why we didn’t see anyone for the tour. Then tried to call provider. No answer. I contacted Viator and Viator tried to call the provider with no answer. Waited twenty minutes. Out at least $30 in Ubers to get to the meeting site and back that no one is covering. If you book with this no show make sure you have backup plans.
This was terrible. I will not recommended at all. Meeting point disappointed. I initially booked for a non vegan non vegetarian tour. They canceled me and offered me this vegan and vegetarian tour. I accepted and was excited! I was lost the whole time bc the tour person keeps forgetting I don’t speak German. She took us to an Indian place, pizza place and desert at an indoor food court. We were around the city taking bus, trains with multiple transfers. The worse experience ever happened to me. Please, improve this experience. Awful experience
We attended a food tasting tour in Frankfurt, priced at €60 per person, and unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. The tour began at 13:45 at Merianplatz. Our first stop was a Mexican restaurant where drinks were included. However, before the food was served, it was held back for a lengthy photo session, leaving us with cold dishes. The offerings—mostly tortillas and nachos—were uninspired, and some dishes never reached our end of the table. The guide, seated comfortably, seemed more focused on her own plate than on ensuring fair portions for guests. The second venue, a Vietnamese restaurant near Willy-Brandt-Platz, was reached after a detour to view tall buildings. By the time we arrived at 16:00, another photo session delayed service, and portions were again minimal. By this time we were hungry and tempers frayed. Finally, dessert was served at a location near Galluswarte that felt more like a teenage hangout down a dark alley than a curated culinary stop. Overall, the tour was poorly organized, with long gaps, cold food, and inadequate servings. The guide prioritized photography and her own experience over guest experience. I would not recommend this tour.
Our guide was amazing. Very friendly, knew the city and history and she was fun to talk with. We were disappointed to be the only English speakers in the trip. Our guide was good to speak in English and German so we all had the appropriate information, but we missed a lot of the fun conversation. Also, we expected to experience more Frankfurt specific food, not hamburgers and pizza. We left the tour full of good food, just not what we were expecting from the tour description..
We went to 3 amazing restaurants. Maria was superb. She guided us and provided more than was expected. Recommend +++
Your guide went above and beyond to explain each unique food stop’s quirks and the history in the Frankfurt history in the area.
I would like to start by saying that everyone I dealt with regarding this tour was very nice, including our guide. However, in truth, this is not a good experience. The tour was supposed to leave from the old town at 1pm and on the morning of the tour left at 12.45 from.a location several metro stops away. I was finishing an earlier tour and was therefore late. Most food tours of cities feature local food - after all the participants are usually tourists trying to soak up the local experiences and culture. The food on this tour was pizza, Turkish food and Austrian. At the second (Turkish) location there was no table available and we stood around for about 20 minutes. At the end of the tour we were left to our own devices at the other end of the city from where we started. I want to stress that the issue here was not our tourguide but the tour itself, how it is laid out, the choices of restaurants and it's general organisation.
Truly a disappointing tour. No German food or culture. Highly disorganized, including a last minute change in meeting point a good distance away at the start time.
This was a wonderful experience with our guide Kubra. She brought us to great food stops and the entire group was very welcoming! As English speakers she was very attentive to ensuring everything was translated, and many participants were bilingual. Loved this tour and will recommend it to friends!
The venues were generally disappointing and did not appear to be pre-booked. Did not expect Burgers at the first one and the Street Food experience at the 3rd was pretty bad. Smokey and bad seating and service. Frankfurt was great but we had no traditional German food and thought the amount of travel on the Metro was unnecessary. Idea was good but this schedule did not work!
Best food tour I’ve ever done! Great tour guide, very delicious food, excellent food spots, it’s a must for every one!i can highly recommend the tour to anyone who’s a foodlover
All kudos go to our host of a September weekend day to Kuebra! Thank you so much for a variety of cuisines and keeping the atmosphere dynamic!
Great way to try a mix of different foods on offer in Frankfurt. Some great surprises and unique tastes, plus some good tips on good areas to look for food.
Great to see some of the modern restaurants that locals frequent here in Frankfurt. Both restaurants visited for very good with great food. The dessert place and cocktail bar were good too. Great tour guide - very friendly and very accommodating - even experienced some rides on the Frankfurt underground.
Our guide was amazing and completed the tour in both English and German. All of the stops had great food and I enjoyed the afternoon.
We had an excellent tour guide KU she was wonderful!! The food was totally worth it!. Some of the reviews scared us at first because some people said they had just burgers and pizza. This was 3 amazing restaurants Turkish, Vietnamese and Persian. But the best part was the portion size, we had about 13 people in our group and everyone had plenty of food, some even took food back with them! I would highly recommend this tour :)
Well I have to say that our tour did not start well. I purchased the tour that stated the start time would be 1:00. The day of the tour I received a call a few minutes after 12 asking where we were. I was unaware that the tour time changed. Julia our tour guild was very nice and gave me a meeting spot and we just met her there. I did receive an email but it was all in German so I did not think anything of it as I do not read German. Besides this Julia our tour guild was amazing. She had great people skills and was always communicating with the entire group. I would definitely recommend her to anyone taking this tour.
Guide Rabee was great. We only went to 3 places. We had cheese burgers, pizza, pasta and dessert. They were all delicious, but not exactly the German/Frankfurt experience. We met at a market where we could have sampled all kinds of great foods. And yes, I understand the market is not there every day. We traveled quite a bit to get to these 3 places. It was disappointing.
I have done multiple food tours in my travels and this one was lackluster. The food was good but there was no real conversation or description or a little city history that I’ve had in all the past tours. I think the food stops could have been closer together. We got on the train twice and it wasted a lot of time when I’m sure we could have found restaurants closer together. We would have rather had a 3th spot than taking the train. Also a little disjointed. The Turkish steakhouse was amazingly delicious but we had to ask what we were eating. No description. . Vietnamese Pho was just fine. We had to ask what we were eating. No description. Then dessert was again delicious but by then we were kind of disappointed in the day. Our guide was kind and personable but we would have liked more “tour”.
We had such a good time and the people we were with were great. I thought I had signed up for an English speaking group but my family ended up in a German group. Thankfully the guide was very fluent in English and most of the others spoke some. The wording of the tour promo led me to believe that this would be exploring the cultural and culinary diversity of Frankfurt -‘that only the locals experience’. But it was geared FOR the locals, not travelers who are looking for what the locals eat. The ad also says,‘Visit locally loved stops that fall under the tourist’s radar’. So is it for tourists looking for off the beaten places? We got pizza, burgers and some steak and potatoes. All fantastic food, but it’s what we eat in the US. I’d recommend this tour, but be aware. The guide told me the company’s concept is to take the locals of each of their cities and expose them to a more varied dining experience. If you’re an American tourist, don’t bother.
An experience that I’ll never forget! Great Food Spots , very delicious Food, everything had a high Quality and are Places i would have never found by myself. I can Highly recommend it!
Hans was our tour guide. He was fantastic as he switched from German to English to accommodate our company of 4. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.
Excellent food choices. We did not speak German but got by. Lots of walking. Wonderful leader and lovely German participants
I did the food tour with my friends and it was amazing! The restaurants and food spots on the tour had a unique concept and the food was super delicious! Our group consists mostly of local German guests and it was very nice to connect with them. Our guide was very kind and she had a great sense of humor. We can highly recommend it and would love to do it again in other German cities!
So perhaps I did not read the details, but I expected to taste German food on this tour, i.e. pretzels, eisbein, appel strudle. Unfortunately for me this turned out to be all about American, Italian and Vietnamese food. The places we visited were good, however the 3 and 1/2 hours ended up being 5 hours as every place we stopped at, started our food from scratch. There were long waiting times inbetween For me the Vietnamese restaurant was the best. To end we had a dougnut, which we could have done without. Our guide Poloma tried her best to speed things along. My only other reason for giving this trip only 3 stars is that this was supposed to be an English tour. The trip wqs changed twice and thw starting time was changed the morning from 2 pm to 1:30pm. In the end, from about 18 people we were only 2 who spoke English and most of the commentary was in German, with a few afterthought English translations.
This was one of the best food tours we have been on. We had four stops, and each one was unique and delicious. We plan on revisiting two of the stops on our last two days here. I highly recommend this food tour! So good!
Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed in the tour. First stated in english, but our guide was surprised she was not aware the tour was advertised for english. 2nd, the picture above looks like great food, all the pictures for the advertising looked great, not our food. We had ok pizza and pasta, great Vietnamese, ordinary Burger, and donuts. Donuts were good. We have been on other tours world wide and have love all except this one. This tour is NOT for tourist who want to try new and different places in Frankfurt. Great for locals who want to explore their city. The only reason we gave a 2 is the company was great, and luckily folks spoke english so we had some social time. The guide was good and even with the ordinary food we gave her a great tip.
the best food tour experience with 6 different amazing spots!! Fanstastic !! Get to know the city while you gorge on some amazing food.
Good food good people, really recommended if you want to get to know new places and meet new friends.
I've been on a food tour in every city I've travelled to in the past 4 years, and we travel about 4 times a year. This was by far the worst. Sorry to say, but it was sad. Firstly the booking we made on Tripadvisor was apparently not sent to the organiser, so when I checked the meeting point, she said she had no recollection of my booking. She did however add us on to the following day's tour, which was a mess as it then had 16 tour participants. You cannot have a food tour, visiting small restaurants and getting proper tour guide info, with that many participants. She should've said sorry, admin error, I will refund you. Secondly, the tour advertises the following: In my tour you will experience: 5 x tasting spots 5 x savory dishes 2 x sweet desserts 3 x drinks We only had 4 savoury dishes, and one of the tasting spots was a juice bar in a very busy overcrowded mall. Not exactly something I would call a 'local hidden secret' Because the group was so big, the pasta was undercooked in parts, the restaurant couldn't cope, the waiting at each tasting spot was too long. We were not given any options to buy any alcoholic wine, but we just started to order our own anyways. There was hardly any info given except for a one liner sentence on each location, and I'm used to getting far more info on the tour, in between the tasting spots and at each tasting location. It was really just dissapointing and a let down. The only real interesting spots were the burger and cafe at the end. Otherwise it was in main shopping streets which is really not what I had in mind. The other thing I was very surprised, is that it had absolutely zero local influence - not one frankfurter/sausage tasting/no apple wine/ no pretzel - nothing. I also wouldn't have booked it if I knew it was in German and English which meant she had to repeat the little that she did say - twice.
Isabel was a wonderful guide, keeping the tour fun and interactive. She kept us engaged, taught us about local Frankfurt life and made the group all fast friends.
We were nervous when we booked because it is an expensive tour and wanted to be sure we got our money's with. We definitely did! The guide was smart and informative the food was delicious. We would do the tour again we enjoyed it so much!
This food tour is amazing. Kathey was full of energy and excitement, her love for food, life and different cultures shows in her tour. She's very sweet and includes everyone, so if you're the shy reserved type, she'll get you talking by the end of the tour with a full belly, her energy is that infectious. Kathey and Sharing Plates has done something amazing, put a smile on German faces. :) Our group (which included an award winning Chef and his twin brother baker) went to so many local restaurants with different ethnic foods: Vietnamese, Ethopian, Korean, American, Italian, Chinese. I did not know Frankfurt is made up of 60% immigrants, but after the food tour it makes total sense with all the different varieties of food. This is a true foodies paradise tour. If you're thinking about booking it, just do it. You won't regret it! I don't write many reviews, only the people and company I truly enjoyed their service and considered as future friend.
I had completely different expectations. It started in a "Kaiserschmarrn Instagram joint." Sickly sweet stuff! Really not recommended! Then we went to an Italian chain restaurant and finally to a burger restaurant. That has nothing to do with an insider tip! The guide was very nice, but unfortunately the concept doesn't work like that!
The lady who was supposed to be guiding us arrived too late today, explained nothing, and stared consistently at her phone. The "culinary world trip" to Frankfurt's insider hotspots proclaimed on the website when buying tickets led us to the city-famous burger restaurant What's Beef and everyone got a quarter of burgers and lots of French fries. 2. Stop was the fast-food pizza restaurant Super Bros. The last stop was a foodcourt hall at the Galluswarte, which smells of old fat, where a Thai bowl was served. So burgers, pizza, dirt for 54 euros. We did not tip due to the lack of participation of the guide in the event. Never again!
Big disappointment. Meet 14h walk 5 minutes. Waiting for the 1. Food: First hour. There were a total of 4 burgers for 12 guests! Highlights of restaurants should be burgers, Italians and Asians, that was nothing special. No explanation from the guide as to what the extraordinary curse should be at the restaurants. Along the way, Gste were lost without being noticed by the Führer.
We gave a friend the vegan food tour for her birthday and were unfortunately very disappointed with the experience. It started with a guide being sick and we did our tour together with the non-vegan group. Which is of course not a problem in itself but you could have expected the restaurants to be adapted accordingly. We started with Pizza, a restaurant that everyone who lives in Frankfurt knows. Yes, the pizza is good but it is not a new special experience. Second, we went to a BURGER restaurant that has been around for over 15 years and had exactly 3 vegan dishes. Going to a burger shop on a vegan tour is quite cheeky, and apart from that, burgers simply have nothing to do with sharing plate. Much too much has been ordered for this. A huge milkshake was ordered to the show that no one touched because everyone got their one small one. This is absolute FOODWASTE and not justifiable. The only shop that met the concept and where the food was great and the owners were just super friendly was Modern Masala. When I do a food tour like this, whether vegan or not, I want to go to special restaurants and not eat pizza or burgers. 2 stars is only because our guide was nice.
We were given this tour as a gift and took part with 6 people, in total there were 14 of us plus a guide. Several tours were combined (Nordend, Bornheim, Bockenheim), so we traveled a lot by public transport. We started on Berger Straße with the burger shop Traumkuh, very tasty burgers (also falafel) and fries with special sauces. Then we drove to the Westend to Remos Pizzeria, which had great pizzas and pasta dishes. Although intolerances were asked about beforehand, these were not taken into account when serving (nut allergy - in the gnocchi sauce there were hardly any noticeable walnuts as they were chopped very finely, a no go!) Back to Bornheim to Sweet Churros: Here too we were able to sit inside in freezing temperatures outside, but we had to wait about an hour for the coffee, not very well planned. The churros were unusually hard, but with great sauces and toppings. Finally, we drove back to the Westend to Leib&Seele, where after a delicious non-alcoholic cocktail we had hearty home cooking (platters with cabbage and lots of meat), and delicious chocolate cakes for dessert. Conclusion: Very long (almost 6 hours), due to driving and waiting times on site. Our guide was more concerned with taking photos than providing information, we learned nothing about the restaurants or the area. There were 3 Frankfurt questions between the stops, that was it. The selection was not very unusual, we had hoped for more (and are used to it differently from eat the world tours). Advantage: After the tour we were well fed, there were drinks included with every meal.
A really great experience and a very tasty and varied food tour. We went to 3 great food spots and there was plenty of food everywhere. The guide gave us great information about the gastronomy concepts and it was very entertaining to talk to new people. It was a lot of fun and I can really recommend it to everyone! It's a really great gift idea for Christmas!
The tour was well put together. Marija was there with heart and soul and explained things well. The food was well chosen. The crowning glory: a Mexican restaurant. Highly recommended. We (76 and 80 years old) had a small problem: Marija ran too fast for us and we often got out of breath.
Well, the most embarrassing thing was that we gave this tour to a food connoisseur in our circle of friends for his birthday! The fact was that we met on time on Bergerstrasse in FFM Bornheim to share innovative food experiences in a group! After a few steps we were in a pizzeria. There we were handed 4 pizzas to try inside! Which was a pretty oily affair! We were given natural water in plastic cups. I would classify the pizzeria as a takeaway and the pizza as fast food! That was an extremely bad start and made us extremely critical in the group. Next we walked along Bergerstrasse to another hotspot, which then turned out to be a takeaway again with burgers! Here we broke off the tour with our group! After two fast food places we were a long way from the promises on the website, so consistent action was necessary. I don't normally eat fast food at all, not even as a special dining experience! There are many good reviews on this review page that I can't share! That was a disappointment! Uli
We were promised unusual insider tips, we got pizza, burgers, fries and ice cream. Too bad we would have liked more interesting things
The train station quarter tour did not take place in the train station quarter, but started at a pizzaria (how resourceful) in the Nordend (which we were told by mail a day before the tour took place) made a short trip to Weserstraße to a good Vietnamese and then returned to a burger shop in Berger Straße. Absurd when you consider that the guide opened the tour with the words “You always eat the same thing, even in your own city, we want to show you exciting insider tips beyond the mainstream.” The multicultural diversity and many influences that can be found in Frankfurt, which is why we had booked the Bahnhofsviertel tour specifically, you don’t experience when you get pizza and burgers with fries to try. The fourth and final food spot took place in an ice cream parlor. The two stars are there because only the Vietnamese food was very good. Unfortunately it was a bit cold because the guide had to make Instafilmchen for 5 minutes. Also, there were few background stories to eat. The other participants, who were mostly from Frankfurt itself, also said that they had come up with much better locations. Unimaginative, expensive and impersonal all this, very disappointing.
Wow this was really the best food tour I've ever done in my life. Plenty of quality food, very great restaurants, super great guide and great group. Must have made everyone once, and it's perfect for any teamwork, birthday , hha or family celebrations
Unfortunately, this tour absolutely did not meet our expectations and we will definitely not recommend SP to anyone. Tour: For months we waited for the tour at the main station to learn that these special district tours have not been carried out for a long time and we are ordered to Bornheim. What the hell is this? Then please change it on the website so that you at least know what to expect - then we could have redeemed our voucher much earlier and would have saved ourselves unnecessary Waiting time. Spots: In addition to the "unique Insider restaurants, cafes and hidden food hotspots in Frankfurt", we only had a tired smile on our face in 3 of 4 spots. 1. Burger joint , 2. Pizzeria and 3. Vietnamese are not Insider restaurants !! On the contrary, the pizzeria in particular is a chain like the restaurant with the oversized pizzas that exist throughout Germany. The 4. Spot, a Portuguese, was still quite ok. Food: We got a small burger and cold fries with topping (as much on the topic of "unique signature dishes" as it says on the website), sparingly topped standard pizza, not to mention the pasta, a small soup with Vietnamese and Portuguese tappas. Everything to share... But apart from not being a "signature dish" or "Insider tip", all the food was served cold because more emphasis was placed on making the food available for Instagram and Co. to film and photograph from all angles for 10 minutes. For as long as the participants are allowed to watch the food cool down. Intolerances were pointed out in advance by another participant, but no reaction was given. The only place that was fine and actually nobody knew was the one with en Portuguese Tappas, a franchise whose owner according to our guide already owned all the predecessor restaurants in this address. But whether our guide was well informed, I cannot judge, she seemed very young and inexperienced and unfortunately also struggled to bring the group together. Most importantly, we all expected much more information about the food, culture and the place where we ate. In fact, she told us that for every 5 star rating on SharingPlates on google, she gets an extra 3,00 EUR ;) Well great. Great idea and generally great concept, but probably just implemented with a high margin. It's too bad.
Very much choice of different dishes, very good restaurant selection, great atmosphere! Highly recommended
Perfect tour, an experience you will never forget. Great restaurants, very delicious food and great guide!
We were 11 guests, we as a family (8 pers) and another family with 3 pers. Everyone involved had expected at least 4 restaurants, international small food and information from the guide about the restaurant, what makes this food, maybe also the district. We got a top meal, even with excellent cocktails at the Mexican. After that, we were full. Italians: ragged pizza and water in plastic cup on the street, (inside was occupied), Persian restaurant: Buffet with a tea drink, the food unfortunately very oily. We should get a ticket first, unclear which one. We then had a day ticket, but then it was only a single trip. Especially for an Italian, I don't need a food tour.
We went on a sharing plate tour as part of our team event and it was a great experience! Great spots, very delicious food and our guide Maria was very sympathetic! Highly recommended and always happy!
