City Hotel Frankfurt/m - Bad Vilbel

We had a lovely last minute stay here, unexpectedly exceeded our expectations! Modern, spacious, clean, welcoming hotel with friendly and approachable staff. Room was clean and comfortable, blackout curtains were appreciated & the sauna was a great addition! Would recommend it & would stay here again!

I stayed there from February 10 to 11 February 2026, in a double room for two people. I was alone and checked in at 8 p.m. after several hours on the road. When I entered the room, it smelled like cigarettes, but it was late, I was tired, and it didn't smell so bad that it was really unpleasant. I left the hotel on 11.02.2026 around 9 a.m. On 12.02.2026, I received an email with a bill for 88.20€ for "Penalty for violating the smoking ban in rooms," and I was obviously charged because I had provided my credit card information when booking the room directly on the website and not through booking.com… unfortunately. I would like to clarify and formally contest this situation, as I am a non-smoker and have never smoked in this room. This situation is absurd, incredible and it's theft, because I'm a non-smoker and I didn't smoke in this room! What's more, they have no proof that it was me who smoked in this room. They have probably already charged the previous person who stayed in this room and smoked, as cigarette smoke has a strong odor that takes a long time to disappear. Since I didn't smoke, the person who smoked in this room did so the day before or several days earlier, and since then, they have been charging everyone who stays in room 302. They may even be deliberately placing guests in this room. The housekeeping staff had already reported this before I stayed in this room. This is theft and dishonesty. The amount charged is not huge, but it is unfair and dishonest, so I categorically refuse to accept this situation and am reporting it. I obviously called immediately after receiving the email, but I was told to call back. I wrote an email by writing that I was willing to provide a medical certificate or a statement confirming that I am a non-smoker to prove my good faith. but to date I have not received a response. I am still waiting for a response and a refund of the amount unfairly charged. The photos are the bills (bill for the stay and bill for the bank charge for cigarette smoke). Be careful! The breakfast for 30€ is average/basic in my opinion, nothing is quality or tasty, it's industrial like lot of other breakfast in hotel like this but for the price and 4 stars hotel we have the right to expect a bit better. The little wellness and spa area was still closed at 9 a.m, for a hotel that offers this kind of service, I don't see the point of having it close at 9 a.m. It should be open from 7 a.m. so that guests can use it before leaving or catching their flight, that seems logical. The basic double room was fine and there is a parking lot and underground parking. I travel a lot, so you could say I'm a frequent traveler and hotel guest, and I've never experienced anything like this before. I rarely write comments or reviews, whether positive or negative, but this situation warranted it, and if I can help other guests avoid disappointment, so much the better. Short stay ruined by this

We have stayed in this hotel, had breakfast and dinner. Rooms are okay but the taste of the design doesn’t speak to me, it can be a lot developed. On the other hand, breakfast is nice and our dinner experience was excellent. Delicious dining for a correct price. Friendly service.

Great service, clean hotels, wonderful breakfast & even a free minibar that provides you with a bottle of sparkling water, still water, 2 cokes and a beer! The sauna + steam room were also wonderful. 100% recommend
