Private Walking Tour In Fort William Town Centre

We had a wonderful tour of Ft William with Nathaniel and his Mum. Great stories about their town that we would not have known that just made our visit so much better. We especially loved the chance to explore St. Andrews Episcopal Church, which was beautiful. Best of all was meeting the rest of the family at the end of the tour (we had gone a bit over on time!😁). If you come to Ft. William for the Jacobite Steam Train or to hike, take the time to book this tour with Nathaniel, you will learn much and won’t be disappointed!!

It provided an interesting insight into some of the buildings on the high street. We felt some more emphasis should have been given to the historical development of Fort William particularly relating to the development and role in the town pre and post Jacobite rebellion

Great walking tour of Fort William with Nathaniel. We didn't stop at anywhere for too long, and Nathaniel pointed out both past and recent history of the town. Lots of little facts, supplemented by photos on his phone. Clearly an incredibly knowledgeable and confident person, and absolute fair play for the initiative of this young man to plan and hold these tours!

This tour is a Fort William must-do! Nathaniel and his mum led us along a leisurely tour of the High Street, sharing interesting historical insights along the way. They are both delightful and lovely to chat with, and in addition to learning about the Fort William history, we were able to ask them questions about life in Fort William and Scotland in general, which was very interesting. Learning about the area from true locals is the best way to go, especially when they're so much fun! Thank you both!

Meeting locals when you travel can be difficult, but is by far best way to learn about a place. That’s exactly what you do on this tour, and it was a wonderful way to spend time learning about Fort William. From the early days through to modern times, you learned about the local history by actually visiting key sites. And of course, Nathaniel is a fantastic host! What a special young person he is. He and his family are the perfect local experts who will give you the insiders view on the town. This is a very special experience, meeting such terrific people. Absolutely highly recommended!

A great way to learn about the history of Fort William’s High Street. Nathaniel (age 15) was very knowledgeable. His mom accompanied us as well, and both were a delight.

I really liked how Nathaniel and his mother Elizabeth presented the history of Fort William in an interesting and funny* way. I would have missed a lot of the details, if I tried to walk the town on my own. Fort William has a lot of stories from the Jacobite times, the Second World War until today and somehow a lot of important things happened in that small beautiful town. The tour was handled in a very professional manner. Because I’m impressed that’s such a young man is actually working. We learnt so much about Fort William’s history! A great little tour ( although we were out for a good hour), taking us up the High st and pointing out old buildings and fine details you’d miss without a bit of local knowledge. Nathaniel and his Mum happily met us despite the appalling weather conditions ( a storm warning was in place with an awful lot of rain and high winds) and shared their in depth knowledge of Fort William and answered all of our questions ( we asked quite a lot!) They even accommodated a last minute change of time to try and get a lull in the downpour ( kind of worked…..it wasn’t quite so apocalyptic) Definitely best to get a tour with a local and it was just us , so an added personal touch. We would thoroughly recommend Nathaniel’s tour! 🙂
