This was the first time for my wife and me to visit the Tampa Zoo, we opted for one of the membership packages as there is great value and will not expire until December 2027. Loved the primate exhibit, the best viewing ever for the underwater viewing of the manatees. The Safari ride which is included with admission was very informative and entertaining!

Awesome thanks so much for your help
We had a great time at ZooTampa!
Really fun zoo! My only complaint is that it seems like a lot of the fun things close at 3 but the zoo is open until 5 or 5:30. Slightly disappointing because had we known earlier in the day we would’ve planned an earlier arrival. As such I didn’t get to feed the birds in the lorikeet house which was disappointing! They also said when we went in that they weren’t doing feedings at that time but all the signs say feedings between 10-3. Other than that this is a fun place with lots of cool animals to see. I think price is very reasonable for everything you see and I am happy to spend money if it goes to the care of the magnificent animals.
We has a wonderful time! So much to do for family of all ages! We got the year pass and will definitely be back
The zoo was nice enough however the state of the tiger is heart breaking. It just continually paced back and forth and if a little research is done it's noted tigers do this due to lack of stimulation, restricted space, frustration of instincts or environment stress. The enclosure does not mimic a tiger's natural habitat at all. Please let this tiger live out his remaining life at a rescue if he is unable to go back to his natural habitat. I would rather see a zoo without stressed animals then to see this again.
Great Zoo with beautiful landscaping. The animals were very lively especially the otters and giraffes
We went to visit on a hot day in June. We were able to bring in water bottles and there are bubblers (water fountains) conveniently located throughout the zoo. Though it was hot, the zoo has shade and air conditioned exhibits nicely spaced around the park as well as sprayed water for cooling. Nice area for kids to cool off (bring suits!) We got our hands stamped and left for lunch at nearby Mexican food at Don Poncho’s. Highly recommend! You do need to pay for parking but we received discounted entry because of a membership at a reciprocal zoo. Enjoyed seeing many animals I had not heard of before. We’re fortunate to see the koalas eating and climbing as well as a rhino getting fed. The animals seemed happy and were surprisingly active given the heat. Nice animal displays. There were a few rides but we didn’t go on any of them. We spent 4-5 hours here, walking slowly and reading about each animal and enjoying the air conditioning. Will definitely return!
What a great zoo. My teenagers where super excited about seeing all the animals and sea creatures. Admission fee was reasonable. We spent about 4 hours there. LOVED the manatees. My daughter (18) loved the stingrays. The safari ride was awesome. I was worried my teens wouldn't be interested but they absolutely loved it.
It was an amazing experience! I enjoyed the atmosphere and seeing all the beautiful wildlife . It was a great experience! Would do it again !
Buy directly from zoo. Don’t use 3rd party sellers. More expensive and they lied about being able to make changes
“We understand weather and animal care can affect visibility, but we were disappointed that significant construction and multiple unavailable exhibits weren’t communicated before purchasing tickets.”
They have a lot of animals and different attractions for little kids. 2 large splash pads allow the kids to get wet and cool off which was unexpectedly large. We didn't get to see and do everything in one day. Loved the experience and if you are nearby, it is worth the annual pass because it is equivalent to 2 visits with 2 adults and 1 child. The place is very clean and not too crowded during the week. The staff is super friendly and the whole atmosphere of place was really great for exploring and having your own adventures. It really reminds me of a small animal kingdom because of the variety of things to do.
We come here every year to support the zoo and the work they do. Exhibits are clean and great places for the animals. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Never gets old😊
It was a great surprise. It has a lot of anima and extra activities. The clases, the volunteers, and all the staff is extremely helpful.
The best zoo and zoo experience we have ever had! Absolutely the most amazing day. The animal exhibits were big and clean and well kept. The animals were so active and playful and looked very happy. Our kids are 6,4, and 2 and they all had a blast not only seeing the animals but riding the boat water ride, the carousel and playing in the huge splash pad/playground! We ended up renting a double stroller from the zoo and it was perfect for our kids as well! Everyone was very nice and friendly as well! Amazing experience!
We had a wonderful time at the zoo. Tons of animals all well cared for. Lots of misters for when it got hot. My kids loved the rides especially the safari. We will definitely visit again next time we are back in Florida!
We drove down from the NE corner of Florida to met family from NYS to explore the area attractions and decided to go to Zoo Tampa. There is $7 paid parking, so bring your license plate number and credit card to pay at the machines that are along the walkway from the parking areas. There were nice hard-copy maps readily available at the entrance to help you quickly discren that the 67-acre zoo was laid out with different areas for the different continents with an extra section for Florida. We entered the park shortly after it opened and were entertained with a very good Macaw show near the entrance with birds making a flying entrances and exits. Traveling with a second-grader, we were very pleased that there were misting sprays in several places around the park, a couple of splash zones, with playgrounds and rides to help keep children entertained if they get tired of looking at animals. There was a roller coaster and several rides and exhibits that were not operating, but nothing that would spoil the day. There was pleasant music playing that didn’t interfere with normal conversation. We would advise arriving early to take advantage of all the scheduled shows that are listed on the map. The animals are more active in the cooler parts of the day and tend to be sleeping in the shade in the hotter parts of the day. We experienced the Macaw and Manatee show, which were very well done. There is a safari ride that we opted to not go on due to a wait time of 20 minutes. The habitats were well done in general, but we were disappointed with the number of animals in the Florida section. Overall, it was well worth the $49.95 senior citizen entry fee.
The whole experience was great! My kids loved riding all the rides, seeing and learning about all the animals and finding out their names, playing at the splash pad to cool off, getting to feed and pet the stingrays, and see the manatees up close! The park also had a little store inside the park where they had freshly made food and any drinks you could think of (it was like a little mini mart.) I had a chicken Cesar wrap and it tasted like restaurant quality! This is a great place to stop while you’re on family vacation, the kids will be thrilled!
The zoo is really nice, they know how to run this zoo. The people that work there are very good. They have a great selection of exhibits, there is so much to see and do. The park is very clean and have food and drinks. The price is 51.00 to get in, well worth the money. Be prepared to walk around 4 miles to complete the zoo.
Amazing zoo, more than expected when you get there. Great environment, good food and drinks, honestly a wonderful day, don’t go there in a hurry, plan to spend the day and soak in a theme park like experience.
$50 for zoo admission initially felt a bit high, but it ended up being well worth it. The grounds are beautifully designed with natural, spacious enclosures, and everything was clean and easy to navigate. It wasn’t crowded during our visit, which made the experience even more enjoyable—no long lines or packed walkways. The manatee rehabilitation area was a highlight, especially the underwater viewing. We went through it twice because we enjoyed it so much and learned a lot in the process. There was a great variety of animals, including orangutans, okapi (a first for us), tigers, giraffes, and some truly beautiful birds. It was just a fun, relaxing day overall. It would be an excellent outing for families with young kids, too—there are splash pads scattered throughout the zoo. The food was pricey, as expected, but surprisingly good. Definitely bring your own water bottle unless you want to pay about $7 for one there.
Very nice zoo. Purchased an annual membership with nice benefits including free parking.
We are family annual pass holders and it’s so nice and gives lots of freedom. As we are able to bring a guest with us we brought my grandmother and she loves this zoo better than her local one (San Diego zoo) All the workers are amazing and really helped us when we needed help as we also have someone that uses a wheelchair in our family. We had so much fun feeding the stingrays! It’s nice that they have extras to add on but you don’t have to do them.
We went on a Monday before we realized it was President's day and the place was FULL of kids. we literally got the last parking place in the employee overflow lot down the block. That should have been a tip off. However the zoo is quite large and even with the crowds we were able to see most of the outdoor animal exhibits. They did have some parts closed off for a private event which I didn't like. The animals seemed to be well cared for and the enclosures were clean and large enough to be healthy for the animals. There was good signage telling us what animals we were seeing. The zoo staff with whom we interacted were helpful and knowledgeable. The manatee underwater viewing area was closed off. We didn't eat there although there seemed to be a number of places to do so. The admission is a bit pricey at $50 per adult, but it does go to feeding and housing the animals so thats OK.
beautiful zoo. so much fun watching the macaw fly over. nice bars and restaurants with reasonable prices
Was a fun day trip! Enjoyed the experience! First time there and will definitely go back. Worth the money
I don’t even know where to begin…we had so much fun! The zoo is beautiful and clean. Staff was friendly and informative. The food was good. We will definitely visit again!
Wonderful zoo. The signs at the zoo explain the animals well. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The zoo is large and we spent the majority of our day there.
This zoo is outstanding in every way. The animals, layout, rides, chats, water splash area, food and the safari were all special for us. My 5 year old granddaughter was not bored for even a minute. We arrived at 9:30 as they opened and had the zoo to ourselves until about lunchtime. Clean as can be. We live in Pennsylvania and will return here with more grandchildren.
We went on a colder day, and there were hardly any animals out. Particularly sad were the endangered dogs in a small enclosure; you could see the worn path and one pacing restlessly while another played on top of a metal box. Not nearly enough space for tj yo run, stretch their legs, or lay in the sun. It’s a small zoo, with not a lot to see, but we had a full section left when staff approached us and told us that we’d have to leave because they had decided to close early due to colder weather and a lack of people coming in. We weren’t allowed to finish, they escorted us to the exit, where we promptly requested a refund. Absolutely terribly way to treat paying guests.
Husband and I took our 1 year old daughter and it was a total blast! We got there around 11am and left around 3pm due to rain but we still have quite a bit to experience for when we go back! For it to have been a Saturday the crowd was way more manageable than we thought it would be which was a very nice surprise! We had the pizza from Africa and it was delicious. It was our first visit with an annual pass and it was extremely easy to get a physical card and add members.
A year ago I purchased the "pay for a day, get the rest of 2025 free" ticket for me and my 2 year old son. We have been driving to Tampa multiple times a month to visit and my son has a blast every time. He loves seeing all the animals! He has recently grown tall enough to ride the banana ride in the Australian section which has become a favorite. During summer he loves the splash pad (so make sure to pack a swimsuit for the little ones). He is obsessed with dinosaurs and was so excited when the dinosaur exhibit was going on (even if he pretended to be scared of the t-rex) We are looking forward to purchasing full membership passes for 2026 and continuing to support this zoo and the animals they care for!
It was a lot of walking but the animals were amazing seeing the tortoises was cool and petting the llama was fun . The orangutans were the most interesting.
Pricey but worth it. Well kept zoo with knowledgeable and helpful staff. We rented a scooter because my husband is handicapped. It was $42 for the day and was in good condition. Staff was sensitive to his needs and helped to get him in and off the truck that provided a tour. It took us four hours to explore the animals. It would take longer if we had done the rides. Great place to take kids. Why? They will see animals, interact with some, and get to ride rides. Staff was patient with school groups we saw. Our goal was to see the shoe billed stork. Amazing bird that sounds like a machine gun firing! There are only five or six in this country and Zoo Tampa had this amazing dinosaur looking bird. Animals were well cared for and looked healthy. Hats off to the volunteers and paid workers who were pleasant and willing to share their knowledge..
This was our first time at Zoo Tampa & we loved it!! The weather was beautiful so most of the animals were awake & walking around. We even got a video of one of the monkeys playing with a sheet - that was fun! It’s a beautiful zoo, lots of shady areas & places to sit. Easy walking! We bought a membership so we’ll definitely be back!!
So many uniques animals here. Lots of walking- wear sunblock. Call ahead to see if any areas are closed
My kids (ages 2 and 4) loved this place—and so did I! We were there from 10 to close and still didn’t see everything. The animals were incredible, and we did the clouded leopard add-on—the girls were beside themselves getting to help train a leopard! Lunch at the Africa Safari restaurant was decent, and I was so happy to actually find a salad option instead of just hamburgers and hot dogs. There are full bars throughout the park and plenty of kids’ rides too. The best part? Your ticket gets you admission for the entire year! On top of that, it’s amazing to hear about the conservation projects they run with other zoos. This place is a true joy. A++
I stopped here one afternoon. It’s pretty expensive to get in. ($50). The Shoebill storms were a great thing to see. The manatee rescue area is pretty awesome and I Hope some of my money goes to that. It’s a nice zoo. It’s not big and easily walkable.
Very nice zoo. Lots of animals from around the world. Should be even better in 2026 with a few new exhibits going in. The front food court was ok.
We have watched the Zoo many times on tv at home, and it looked like a fab vibrant place to visit. Work being done directions to parking had to be requested, staff were really helpful. The park itself was smelly ( i know there are live animals). The attractions were mainly empty again i know it's very hot! The whole park was well sign posted but it's nothing like we expected, very few exhibits and quite expensive. The only good side was the money goes to the loking after of the animals that were there.
This Zoo was awesome. They had so many different animals. It's a fairly large zoo. Me and my husband had the best time. The animals are very well cared for. My husband loved the monkey/ gorilla exhibit. I knew exactly where I would spend most of my time because ZooTampa was on the Animal Planet. I spent I know over an hour just watching the manatees. They are my favorite. I absolutely loved watching them. It never got old. I got to see the medical pools and some of the staff. My husband literally had to drag me away from the Manatees because the zoo was closing. I highly reccomend this zoo. If you want something to do/ something different I would check this zoo out. It's worth it.
I have been watching the secrets at the zoo Tampa for a while over and over. The park was even better than I imagined. I loved it
Super fun time!! We loved visiting ZooTampa at Lowry Park!! Lots an amazing animals to see! We had a super fun safari ride and got to see the animals even better that way! Definitely recommend going!
The underwater manatee viewing area was closed off for construction along with the bat exhibit. Those were two of my favorites. Then I discover the aviary exhibit was closed too! I was a little sad but the dino experience made up for it a tad. Tips: -If you have access to govx, check out their discounts and grab refillable drink container. You will need it because it gets hot! -Go early when they first open and you can see all of the animals active when they first hit their exhibits and start to feed. -Head over to the safari ride first before the lines get too long.
Always so happy when at the zoo other then beer prices lol always a great time the up close and personal experiences are the best and at a reasonable price so far my favorite was the penguin encounter
We felt that for the price the zoo was average at best. I understand they are doing some upgrades and some exhibits were closed. Some of the animals were alone such as the tiger and the panther. It seems they would do better with a companion but I’m not an expert on that matter. The flamingo exhibit was really disappointing. It was very small & paled in comparison to others I’ve seen. There was plenty of zoo staff around who were helpful in answering questions. Hopefully when they’re finished with the upgrades it will be better for the animals and visitors.
We spent a Sunday at the zoo. There’s a lot of advertisements and we had heard a lot of positive things from people about it. I think it was a case of that. We just were had higher expectations because of all the good feedback that we had had the zoo was OK, but it wasn’t anything great there’s definitely better zoo out there. They did have a good dinosaur expo that was kind of cool and we did see a lot of movement. the animals, which was maybe just due to the day I would say for what you get. The price was a little high but still a family fun activity for the kids. There is a park right along side. You could bring food and have a picnic in the park and save on some money rather than buying food in the zoo, but there are a good a lot of good options for food in the zoo. We did walking tacos.
It was a great experience, we especially loved the animal chats they were entertaining and educational, it really seemed like the entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly!! We had lunch at the macaw restaurant again extremely friendly and helpful staff and a great Burger!!
My husband and I visited Zoo Tampa while on vacation. It exceeded my expectations. It’s a small zoo but exceptionally well done. The animals are very visible. The manatee exhibit was the best and way better than the Kayaking with Manatees at Crystal River excursion we paid $180 for. We also enjoyed the primates who were very playful and entertaining. The admission price was high, but it’s obvious that the proceeds are used to make Zoo Tampa first rate. The safari ride is included with admission but not worth more than a 30 minute wait. It was very slow and there weren’t many animals. But we did it at the end of the day and it felt good to sit in the shade and relax. All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Most of the walking areas are nicely shaded against the intense Florida sun. (We’re from Michigan.). Lots of places to sit in the sun or shade and relax. I highly recommend this zoo.
