Western Everglades Adventure Tour

We had a great time with Rhett as our guide. The nature walk was fun and informative. The kids loved holding the snakes and baby alligator. The rainy season is behind right now so some of the airboat ride was not accessible but we still saw many gators on the lake and the kids really enjoyed it.

Rhett was an awesome guide, gave in depth responses regarding the Everglades and its plants and animals. Airboat ride was also nice. Never thought I’d hold a snake or alligator, but Rhett made it not scary .

This was a really fun adventure! Had a wonderful guide, Jacob! Very knowledgeable and friendly! We first took 1+ hour nature hike - Jacob was very informative and kept all of us engaged. We then drove to the airboat facility where Jacob introduced us to multiple snakes and 2yr old alligator! Jacob was so kind to the kids , adults,too! We ALL had a great time! We then got on the airboat ,with Fred as our captain , saw LOTS of gators and beautiful birds, GOOD TIMES! Highly recommend! Just the right amount of time for the little ones and the older folks!😄

You walk to a marsh and see a lot of different birds & plants. We saw 12-15 alligators on the air boat. It was great to learn so much from our guide, Pete. He let us hold a few snakes & an alligator which was fun for the kids.

Rhett was very knowledgeable and pointed out lots of interesting things on our hike. JT took us on a pontoon tour — saw many cool birds, a turtle, and some alligators. Rhett showed us some cool snakes and baby alligators — we were able to handle them as well.

This was a unique and fantastic experience. Our tour guide Leah was very knowledgeable, and we learned a lot of interesting ecological information from her. The Airboats and Alligators tour was fun. Saw a lot of wildlife, including two adult alligators sunning themselves less than 10 feet from where our airboat was gliding past. Ear protection was provided, and the guide stopped the airboat when we flit close to something to see, and we had no trouble hearing him. As was suggested, we wore windbreakers and were happy we did, as it is extra chilly when your traveling fast over water. The reptile show at the end was an additional highlight, as we had the opportunity to hold a baby alligator and various snakes. 100% would recommend this tour. Note that you do have to drive from the end of the hike to a totally different location for the airboat tour—it is not walkable, and it’s remote enough you can’t use ride shares. Also be prepared with waterproof footwear for the short walk, regardless of season. Even in the dry winter, there was enough moisture on the trail that my shoes were wet at the end of the mile long walk.

This is tour was so much fun! You start out on a very easy nature hike (no hills, all grass), then you take an airboat ride and see loads of birds and some gators. At the end of the tour you get to learn about reptiles and even hold some! Our guide, Lia, was very knowledgeable about plants and animals and was able to answer all of our questions. You can tell she really cares about the reptiles. We were very happy with the entire tour and would recommend it to others. It was a good value for a tour that lasted nearly four hours.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of information. The boat ride was extremely pleasant. Wasn’t sure what to expect from an air boat. 10/10 would recommend .

What a great experience. Our guide Rhett, led us on a walking trip thru a preserve. We saw a snake,a rare frog, large grasshopper and lots of birds. We then went to the air boat and Capt. Fred took us thru the everglades where we saw a lot of baby gators and a huge 14 ft. one. We came back to the dock and handled snakes with Rhett. It was a great day all around

Rhett was our guide and we had a great trip to the Glades. He was extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot. Two of our kids were not thrilled to be there and were a little afraid and he was very patient with all of us. The boat tour was also education, educational and fun. I highly recommend.

The biologist Pete was very knowledgeable. He also was personable. He taught us a lot of things about the area we live in and we saw lots of really interesting birds and plants. We also so loads of alligators!

Fabulous day from beginning to end. Rhett was a superb host and driver. His knowledge of the Everglades was incredible. Fred Robin Robinson was a superb host tour guide on the airboat. I had such a great experience. Our guide was so awesome and knowledgeable. I enjoyed all aspects of the tour but was surprised how special the reptile show at the end was. Highly recommend!

My son and I had the best time! Our tour guide Rhett was really really great- his knowledge made this experience better than we anticipated. My son Dawsyn (6yrs) is an enthusiast and took to Rhett right away- he was great with him and didn’t treat him like just some kid. We had a really great time- thank you!!

Hands on alligator experience. Great airboat guide! Loved holding snakes and learning about the Western Everglades.

My kids (ages 10, 8, & 3) as well as my mom and, husband all enjoyed this excursion. The tour starts promptly (please don't be late) with a nature walk where you get the opportunity to explore different habitats as well as learn about wildlife, plant species, and insect that live in the area. I would encourage you to wear water shoes and insect repellant. It does get sunny in some portions of the hike and, I did put sunscreen on my kiddos. After your hike, you will drive to the next portion of your tour. I would avoid the birds when entering and, make sure that your kids avoid the birds. They are in cages but, still have the ability to bite you if you aren't careful. We avoided the area. My 8 and 10 year old loved learning about alligators and snakes. They were able to hold and interact with several snakes and an alligator names Mary! Our tour guide Rhett was very informative and patiently answered all of our questions. He shared all sorts of fun facts that inspired my kids to want to learn more about the Everglades and the creatures that live there. Our airboat ride was smooth and we spotted 25 plus alligators, several different species of bird, and a turtle. Our Captain identified the birds for us, but it was a little difficult to hear him- especially since we were wearing the ear protection. I reapplied sunscreen for the boat portion of the tour. We all really enjoyed this tour!

Pete was an excellent guide and kept us interested. He is very knowledgeable and answered all questions. Great with adults and children. If we do this tour again I would want him to be our guide. The air boat ride was great—saw lots of alligators, birds. Pete educated us on all of them. It was a really enjoyable day! Definitely recommend. Worth every minute.

Interesting tour of the Everglades by foot and airboat. Great guide Rhett was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and entertained us all. Highly recommend if you don't have the time for an all day Everglades tour.

Rhett was very knowledgeable and took the time to show us everything and Kenny was very patient with everyone and watched everyone’s hands pointing out the animals and then tell us about the things we pointed out on the airboat ride. My thoughts that would help them out more would be if they had people sitting out on other boats around the marsh to take pics of the boats with the people on it, all at different angels, then transfer them to computers so the customers would see themselves actually on the boat and then they could buy their boat experiences in a package deal after the ride was over. But all in all a great experience

We had a great time doing the everglades glades tour. Unfortunately we didn’t see any animals other than lizards and birds on the walking tour. The airboat ride was amazing. We saw lots of gators and wildlife. It was definitely an adventure worth doing!! Kenny was a great guide full of fun facts and very knowledgeable about the area.

Amazing tour of lake wildlife, including birds and alligators. We happened to see some rare birds and during one of our stops counted over 100 alligators within our view.

Rhett was very knowledgeable & passionate about the hike & the airboat. We enjoyed our experience. Maybe update the website to include the type of shoes to wear on the hike. And the hike is 30 minutes which may not work for anyone who was not prepared for the marshy ground.

We had Rhett as our tour guide and he was awesome! He informed us on the wildlife and answered all questions we had, even got to see a momma gator with her babies on the trail! The airboat ride was fantastic, got to see tons of wildlife. Finished our tour with handling animals which was so cool. We had a blast and Rhett made our experience so enjoyable!

Our tour guide , Rhett, was awesome. He really made this experience great for us. We saw all sorts of wildlife and had a fun time. We are from Florida, and I have seen most of these things anyway, but Rhett made the experience fun and it all felt new to us. We learned a lot and had a blast. Definitely recommend this tour, whether you are new to Florida or have spent your whole life here. Make sure to bring water and wear shoes you don't mind getting wet/muddy.

This Western Everglades Adventure was amazing! From informative to fun. I feel like the experience was very well rounded. We started with a nature walk. The scenery was not only beautiful but we learned so much about the environment that we were immersed in. Next, off to an exciting boat ride and then, when the fun just kept building, we concluded with a meet and greet of several animals, including being able to hold and touch different snakes and a small alligator! The experience was definitely wonderful for the whole family!

We had a friendly and knowledgeable guide (Heidi) and saw a huge variety of birds and hundreds of gators on Lake Trafford. The three aspects of the tour (hike, airboat ride, interactive reptile encounter) were all informative and fun.

Pete was our tour guide for the nature walk, and the reptile show. He was excellent and catered both to adults and the kids. Our guide for the airboat ride was excellent as well, showing us many many Alligators, a ton of different birds, and different water plants. The experience was amazing and our whole group thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Highly recommend!

The nature walk was pretty and we saw a deer and a snake. We saw about 80 alligators and 100s of birds on the airboat ride. The reptile show was especially fun for the kids. (7 and 9)

Very informative. Pete our guide was able to adapt his stories for children on the tour to adults. We took our elder aunt and 13 year old. Both said they had the best time!

We 3 were part of a group of 12 adults for this 3-part half-day adventure. First our knowledgeable guide Heidi led us over easy walking trails that skirted the swamp. It's difficult for such a large noisy group to encounter any exotic wildlife but we did encounter a snake, a turtle and a white tailed deer. Part two was an airboat ride on shallow Lake Trafford with lots of gators and birds to see. Finally Heidi introduced to her special friends at the airboat terminal, a variety of caged snakes. She had an in-depth knowledge of them and we all were soon touching and even holding the snakes (and a 3 foot alligator). I think we all better appreciated the role these swampland creatures play in our ecosystem.

Rhett was a wonderful knowledgeable tour guide. His funny sense of humor made the tour even more enjoyable. We will be taking the tour again with the grandchildren that didn’t come this time!

Our guide, Rhettt was super. He was very knowledgeable and I could see his excitement in sharing his knowledge of the vegetation, animals and birds with us all. The first part - the nature walk, was a lot of fun and I learned some things. The Everglades airboat ride was also fantastic. We saw many, MANY more alligators than we had imagined we would see! Fantastic!! The third part, the reptile show was interesting and informative. I have been afraid of snakes - but I actually held two! And holding the alligator was amazing!! I’d one another Everglades tour years ago, and the alligator I held then was just a little one. This one was BIG! And it was amazing! I would highly recommend this tour!! We may do it again!

This trip has been on our list for some time. If you have a desire to see a bit of Florida nature and waterways this is a great trip. Started with a nature walk and ended with the airboat ride on Lake Trafford. The tour guide (Rhett) was very knowledgeable, and he and the airboat captain (Kenny) took us to areas where we saw numerous birds and alligators.

Excellent tour guide. Very fun, very knowledgeable. My mom is terrified of snakes, but she touched one anyway.
