We spent about 5 hours kayaking on the Wekiva river with our amazing guide, Tia. She was a fountain of knowledge about the eco-system, the birds, animals, and plants. We saw upwards of 50 alligators who were peacefully sunning themselves on the banks and hundreds of birds, all in a peaceful, natural, beautiful corner of the planet. I highly recommend this tour and ask for Tia if you have an option. A perfect day on the river!

Reviews
My group of 2 adults and 4 teenagers did the private guided tour of Wekiva River. Sue and Tia are both excellent guides. They are friendly, knowledgeable and easy going. All 6 of us enjoyed the time we spent exploring the Wekiva River. We are moderately experienced paddlers and found this to be a very easy and relaxing paddle. We really enjoyed the flexible nature of the trip and that our guides were not stuck to a rigid schedule. As a bonus, the weather was perfect and we basically had the river to ourselves. The scenery is incredible. We also saw (and heard) a variety of birds, several turtles and 1 small alligator. The company is under new ownership so the webpage description of the tour no longer matches the actual tour. For us, this was not a big deal and we loved the experience we had. However, I would recommend the owner rectifies this as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you are booking this tour, find out the details directly from the new owner to ensure it still matches what you are looking for. The private tour is a flat rate price that includes up to 5 guests. Given the kayaks are 2 person kayaks, the cost to add a 6th person seemed rather high to me. Whether there are 5 or 6 guests, the company is supplying 3 kayaks. Perhaps a review of this pricing structure is warranted? Having said that, I appreciated the ability to add the 6th person 2 days before the trip. Overall, the tour was worth the cost and gets full marks from our group.
Dana was an incredible guide! We saw an alligator, many cool native birds and got to paddle with 3 manatees for about 30 minutes of the tour. The Wekiva River is such an amazing wildlife area. I would highly recommend this tour! Very peaceful and lots of interesting wildlife.
Definitely an enjoyable tour, make sure to bring sunscreen! They do provide lunch and bottled water which is a nice touch.
Kayaking through the Wekiva River was an unforgettable adventure—wildlife sightings around every bend and stunning photo ops throughout. We spotted so many incredible animals in their natural habitat, making it feel like a real Florida safari. Our guide’s deep knowledge and passion brought the journey to life and made the experience truly memorable.
Best experience in Florida for nature lovers, highly recommend to anyone, guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and we had a great lunch with the best cheese I ever had 🙂 Thank you very much guys and happy retirement buddy!
Greg was an amazing tour guide - friendly, engaging and shared so much local knowledge. We had a great day on the river despite it being a cloudy day and the homemade cookies at lunch were delicious! Highly recommended tour.
it's beautiful we had a lot of fun. we're surely comeback and try some activities they offer. i really enjoyed the experience.
Meant to be a holiday highlight, the tour was cancelled late on the day before with email and phone calls going answered. Luckily I managed to find an alternative tour company.
Tour was cancelled on me by vendor. I must wait for 7 days for my $200.00 refund while on vacation. I could have used these funds to book another event!!! I'm not happy. No one reached out to me on your end to see if I needed support with anything. It was not until I called to ask questions a out my refund. Again, not happy with customer servic Thank you and be well.
Had an amazing river kayaking trip with Lucas a little over a week ago. Our kids (9, 12, & 14) were a little nervous as it was only their 2nd time kayaking, but Lucas made sure they felt comfortable on the water and shared his wildlife knowledge with us which they really enjoyed, especially learning about snake birds and their "special powers". The river was beautiful and gave us a glimpse of another side of Florida that we had not experienced before. It was quiet and peaceful with lots of wildlife to be seen. We were incredibly fortunate it to see around 10 alligators (small and never concerning), a turtle, several types of birds, and even a manatee! Our stop for lunch was great and the food provided - cold cuts, cheese, crackers, spinach dip, cherries, and oreos definitely hit the mark for our group. We had a really great time and would definitely recommend Adventures in Florida as well as our guide, Lucas. Thanks for some great memories!
We loved the tranquility in the middle of nature. Especially appreciated the little river beach interlude with Picknick and swimming after the first 3 hours. Very knowledgeable guide Greg pointed out a lot of wildlife and was helpful and patient. A bit of a workout but exhilarating experience. So glad we did it.
The kayak adventure was wonderful. The guides Greg & Lucas were excellent!! Greg was very experienced and knowledgeable. Kayaks were easy to manage. My only suggestion would be to put the group drinks on ice!! Very hot day and it could have made a difference.
Greg and Tim were awesome!!! Super personable and full of knowledge. The river was beautiful and peaceful! This was an absolute pleasure!
We were in Florida for spring break with our teenage son. The kayaking trip was a very welcome break from the crowds and parks. Our guide Sue was outstanding, and we learned a ton of area history and natural science from her. We are all seasoned paddlers and Sue adapted the trip to our skill level. We wouldn’t hesitate to take another tour with her! Thanks!!!!
Highly recommend the Wekiva river paddle! It’s just the thing if you want to escape the craziness of Orlando and experience a more natural Florida. Our guide Bill was an expert on the flora and fauna and took us on a leisurely paddle while gently pointing out interesting bits along the way. This is a do not miss alternative activity! Marilyn from Iowa
Outstanding! We are experienced paddlers and were very impressed with the beauty and serenity of Wekiva River. There was an abundance of wildlife. My husband and I were freaking out about the alligators. Bill, our tour guide was amazing. He is so knowledgeable and calm. Bill gave us so much information during our trip. Alligators are not interested in us. We saw a lot of the sunning themselves, one actually crossed the river while we’re kayaking. After we completed our trip we had a wonderful lunch, decadent, salami and cheese and homemade cookies. There was humus and carrots if you wanted to be healthy. Definitely worth going on this adventure. Ask for Bill.
What a day!! My partner and myself had the best day with Sue. The weather was perfect, the river was gorgeous, the wild life just wow and the whole experience was perfect. Never done this before, and I'll most definitely be coming back. Sue made this experience so interesting and fun. We can't thank you enough. Also thank you for the jaffa cakes lol Xxx
It’s was a beautiful trip. Weather was wonderful and we had a great guide. Very informative with area and habitat.
Such a beautiful, tranquil way to start our time in Florida! Jimi was so knowledgeable and easy going. We were in awe of the diversity of plants and birds. A highlight was seeing a tiny, baby soft shell turtle. we came away with a deeper appreciation for an ecosystem, completely different from anything we would see at home in Wyoming.
We took a guided tour with Bill through the Wekiva River. It was a perfect start to my birthday celebration. We enjoyed the River, sun and all of Florida's creatures.
This was a great excursion! We saw at least 8 alligators and alot of other wildlife. Unfortunately didn't get to see a manatee, but that's just luck of the draw. Note that the tour says 9am-1pm, but we were on the water until at least 2pm, and it was hot! But apparently we had a headwind slowing us down. Gina was our guide and she was great. I recommend this tour for anyone who wants to experience a beautiful Florida river.
This was a fantastic day on the river. Our guide, Sue, was friendly and very knowledgeable on the nature and wildlife throughout the kayak tour. We saw several alligators and birds! It was relaxing, beautiful and peaceful on the river. Sue took lots of pictures of us and navigated us through the river. This far exceeded my expectations, it was the best day we have had while in Orlando. We will definitely be back!
I was looking for a fun activity to do with my 2 teenagers and this 5h kayak tour led by Jimi, our guide, was fantastic! We booked last minute mid-week and Adventures in Florida was able to accommodate us for the next day. It was just the 3 of us and Jimy. Punctual, well organized, very informative, fun, with a picnic break (cheese, salami, crackers, fruit, cookies). We saw turtles, alligators, birds, and a manatee a few feet from our kayaks! Christmas in July!!! The tour ends at a small marina with bar. Go for it you won’t be disappointed!
Our family had an amazing experience taking a trip down the Wakiva River with Greg and Bill. We saw manatees, aligators, and a wide variety of birds on our outing. We highly recommend them for your next outing!
Our tour guide Jimmi was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the kayaking alone was a fun and enlightening experience. I was a tad disappointed that our group did not see any alligators or manatees, but I know that is not under anybody's control. However, I'm not happy that the tour did not match the description in a few ways, which made it worth much less than an experience I would expect for $85.60 per person. One key thing is that our tour only lasted 3 hours, as we started at 9AM and we were out of our boats by 12PM. I thought there must be another walking tour portion over lunch because we were way under time, but we were simply sent home at that point. Also, lunch was NOT included in our tour, which is something I had expected because it is included in the description. If we had a full 4-hour tour and didn't have lunch, I wouldn't have minded, but given that we were done in 3 hours and still weren't provided lunch, I feel a bit ripped off.
Wonderful tour in kayak on the river in Blue Spring State park. Gina and Bill were the best guides👏☀️🙏 They knew everything about the wildlife in and around the river. We saw alligators, lots of birds and Ospreys! We are a family (2 adults and 2 children 12 and 14years) and it was perfect with a 2pers kayak. There was some current and it was tough doing it on your own. We didn’t see any manatees -it’s too hot in July🤩 Unfortunately there was another family on the tour and they were very noisy. Bill tried to tell them that the animals would be scared, but they didn’t listen to him😠
Bill and Gina are very friendly, kind and knowledgeable guides. They did well in setting expectations before we got in the water. We are guests in the nature and not the other way around. They sat a good pace across a group of people with very different level of skills in kayaking. We had a great trip and can really recommend it. In particular as a welcome breath of fresh air and quiet nature in contrast to the intensity of Orlando.
Very helpful trip. Jimi is very patient with us and is never been kayaking before. Our kids are very happy. We will definitely be back
Jimi did a great job he went out of his way to keep us informed and interested . Would go again. River was clean and cool we all took a dip near the end.
It was a long trip ( 4 hrs ). Jimmy was very helpful. He is very patient with our group. Me and my friend who never done the kayak before and at the end of the trip we knew for a little bit now. I hope that my group members didn't feel disappointed in us 😆. We saw 4 crocodiles and it was very interesting. A lot of different kinds of birds. You guys should try it. Recommended it
Jimi was a great guide -- knowledgeable and experienced. Our paddle was a bit different from the listed itinerary in that we paddled a couple hours upstream (it's not a fast current) and then had lunch before paddling back to the launch. The picnic was perfect as it wasn't too heavy but still energizing. We saw a few small alligators and one larger one up on the shore, which was quite cool. The boats were very stable so I wasn't worried and it was easy to get in and out when we started and stopped.
This was a beautiful kayak trip and seeing the manatees was definitely the highlight. The only thing I didn’t expect was to paddle up river for an hour and a half in order to float back to our original location. I had expected to float down river, which is what the description said… for four hours and shuttled back.
Amazing views (nature, animals, etc.), and Bill was an amazing tour guide (also the coolest because he brought Oreos and grapes)! In terms of tips - make sure you bring clothes that you're okay with getting wet and dirty (especially if it's your first time kayaking). I'd also recommend getting the single kayaks if it's your first time, as the two-person kayaks can be a little difficult to coordinate. Lastly, also make sure you wear lots of sunscreen - it is very very sunny! Overall highly recommended if you want to see nature in Florida that isn't just the typical amusement parks we all know and love :)
This was a great experience, the guides were kind and knowledgeable and the river, nature and wildlife were so peaceful and beautiful!
What a fun day! We viewed 17 gators, one manatee, many turtles, fish, birds and various vegetation as we kayaked downstream on a relaxing ride. The stretch down the St. John river was a bit of a workout as we dealt with boat wakes but a fun challenge. Our guide, Gina, was informative, and our group was small, which made it even more fun! We’d do an experience like this again!
Very exiting but also relaxing tour where we were able to enjoy the good things from the wild life with a very knowledgeable guide.
Made great new friends. Saw 17 alligators, 1 manatee, and a lot of other animals. The beginning was great. Lunch was provided and still thankful. At the end I flipped my kayak but hey it was a hot day and I wanted to go for a swim.
Beautiful and very meditative river tour! Sue is a great guide! Lots of wildlife, gators, birds and Turtels.
Today we had a wonderful day at wekiva river very well-organized by our ambitious guides. Besides wonderful nature, we encountered aligators, turtles and more. Definitely recommended!
Took the kids ages 9 & 12 on the Wekiva River tour w/ Jimi as our guide. He was so knowledgeable and fun, pointing out all the wildlife and teaching us all about our surroundings. The scenery was incredible and all the wildlife we spotted was unforgettable! We saw tons of birds, turkeys, an owl and some big gators! The kids got a bit tired of paddling 3/4 the way in, but other than that it was perfect. I would highly recommend, it was the highlight of our week in Orlando.
My husband and I are inexperienced kayakers in our early 70s. We received a call the day before to discuss our level of experience. The person I talked suggested we use a two-person kayak. That worked for us and by the end of the trip I am now ready for individual kayaks. We had a very relaxing experience and saw alligators, a variety of birds, a snake and turtles. Our guide was good at spotting and pointing out animals and birds (alligators) we may have missed. A relaxing morning in nature.
We had a wonderful time. Our tour guide Gina, was the best! We saw lots of wildlife including gators and were able to kayak to the springs where we could get out stretch swim etc. The kids loved it! Gina was very knowledgeable about the wildlife very helpful and just all around fun to be around! We would definitely book this trip again!
This was a great experience. Enjoyed the educational comments and jokes throughout the paddle. Loved seeing all the birds, too. A very nice way to spend time as a family and definitely worth the cost! Quick reminder to remember to bring cash to tip!!
We loved our kayak trip. Our guide, Guy, was informative and entertaining. We were his only customers for a 5 hour wonderful river tour. My wife thought it was a great day. We saw alligators, multiple bird species, and fish in the water. It was a great time. We got pretty messy but it was fun.
Great experience! Jimmy is a very knowledgeable guide tour with lots of experience. We seen lots of wildlife including alligators & it was fine..! A great way to spend 4-5 hrs outside of the usual crowded typical Orlando area attractions & view the natural beauty of Florida’s environment.
Jimmy was so informative. He made us feel comfortable with the wildlife we encountered and gave us a great experience. All in an amazing location, he was attentive to all members of our party. The food for our snack was great. As a former guide from another area of the country I can't give a higher recommendation. For both the location and a guide service based upon our experience, you couldn't go wrong.
Excellent experience all round. We were a group of work colleagues in Florida for a conference and took the opportunity to see some of Florida's wildlife. Bill was a great guide - knowledgeable and patient. I would highly recommend this as a relaxing way to get close to nature. Many thanks to Bill and Gina.
Guide was a great communicator. He confirmed day before and responded to questions via text. We were runners 8 minutes late and they politely waited for us. Jimi and Sue were very nice, friendly, and helpful. We had some good headwinds coming back and they assisted. The sights were so classic Florida.
Gina, a passionate paddler, led us (an Australian couple in their mid-60’s) and a younger family from Chile, on a wonderful kayak tour of “Green River”, for those who know their Creedence! Alligators on logs and in the river, BEAUTIFUL birds, turtles and truly informed commentary from Gina. We have done 3 wildlife tours, if you like, in the Orlando area, and this was the best. Relaxing but always interesting paddling, and Gina was keen to do an extra hour with us after our fellow paddlers headed off after a very good snack/lunch. In Gina’s words, “I love paddling”, and we loved paddling with her. We would do it again tomorrow!
