We had the pleasure of touring Grimal Grove and doing a tasting this afternoon. The history of the place is fascinating and, while Adolph Grimal was clearly passionate about his exotic fruit trees, current ownership and management has obviously picked up that ball and run with it. Amazing place and one of the hidden gems of the lower Keys.

Very cool place! We learned of this place on a TV show and put it on our bucket list! Tour guide was outstanding, as was the exotic fruit tasting. Back story of Adolf Grimal is great! Great value for the money!
This review is long overdue, as we had the pleasure of taking this incredible tour a couple of months ago. From the moment the gate opened and we were warmly welcomed, until our departure several hours later, we were completely captivated. The tour exceeded our expectations in every way—not only because of the depth of knowledge shared with us, but also because of the genuine love, respect, and care shown for the land. That passion made the experience feel especially meaningful. And, of course, the perfect finishing touch was what we have affectionately dubbed the “charfruiterie” board—such a delicious and memorable way to end an already wonderful experience! Thank you for sharing this special place with us. We would happily take this tour again and again and cannot recommend it highly enough.
What a Treat! Jenn was our host and walked us through the grove explaining the various exotic trees and the history of each. Then treated us to samples of all the fruit at the end of the tour. The experience is something I found pleasantly unlike any other excursion in the Florida Keys. A fruit tree grove in the Keys?? Just an absolutely great experience. We will definitely be back
Fun and educational. No actually fruit picking but we got to try many different varieties of fruit grown in the orchard.
We tucked this place into our memory after watching Gordon Ramsay explore it. We were in the Keys, and knew this was a place we didn't want to miss. Loved learning about how this land was started, the unique fruits, and getting a chance to taste some things my taste buds have never tasted. Such a welcoming environment and a great tour guide as well. Worth the trip.
I learned so many interesting things about fruits, the grounds are beautiful and our tour guide so knowledgeable. After the tour, we were able to sample at least 12 fruits, pickles and jam.
The guide was very informative and we really enjoyed being able to do and see something unique in Florida
This was a really neat and interesting tour and a unique thing to do while in the keys. I tried many fruits I hadn’t heard of!
This tropical fruit park and botanical garden is renowned as the first breadfruit grove in the continental US. It houses over 150 types of rare, exotic fruit trees. Our guide Eric described each of the trees and picked fruit directly off the trees for us to see and taste. He also gave us a wonderful history of Adolf Grimal, the original founder of the grove, about his passion for tropical fruit and how he brought all of these trees to this area. After the tour, we had a delightful tasting session featuring many of these exotic fruits. We learned they are also making other fruit products like breadfruit vodka and ice cream too.
Unique and educational tour. Got to try fruits I’ve never heard of. Jen was a great tour guide! I would recommend it!
It was a very interesting tour and we were able to see and taste many tropical fruits from around the world. The history behind this place is very interesting as well. Our kids enjoyed the tour as well and especially enjoyed the "velcro" leaves from the breadfruit.
Very unique and informative tour about the different fruits and the different trees and just the entire history of one man’s vision now coming back!!
I did the fruit hunting tour with my daughters, ages 12 and 9, and we all loved it. The tour guide did a great job of keeping the girls engaged, and then we had fun tasting the fruits and jams. This is a really great, laid-back activity to do with your whole family. I already want to go back in different seasons to see how everything changes and what will be ripe.
Very enjoyable and educational experience with a delicious tasting too!
An enjoyable and enlightening small group tour of the gardens with all the Tropical Fruit Trees, hosted by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide. Really enjoyed the tastings.
Thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour through Grimal Grove. Lots of tropical fruit trees together in an easily accessible area. Was introduced to many tropical fruit trees I had never heard of. The fruit charcuterie board was fantastic.
Very knowledgeable staff, great tour! We had a great time and got to purchase some really unique fruits!
My husband and I had such a good time We weren’t sure what to expect. Jen was phenomenal. We enjoyed learning about Mr Grimal and all the delicious fruit grown at Grimal Grove. A must see !!!!
What a cool experience off the beaten path in the Keys! We had such an informative tour of the farm and learned so many interesting things. Everyone that is helping this farm run are doing great things for the Keys and beyond! The tasting was amazing and makes this a can’t-miss experience.
What a great tour. It was so interesting. Our guide was so knowledgable. The fruit tasting and Breadfruit Vodka samples was great. Definitely a great experience.
Very interesting tour. I tasted fruits that I had heard about but never had an opportunity to experience. Loved them! I didn’t like mango and papaya from the grocery store but the varieties in the grove were very tasty. Knowledgeable and fun tour guide.
Our family loves breadfruit and tropical fruit in general. Grimal Grove has the kind of fruit you can't find in the grocery store, with the ability to taste varieties that are seldom seen. Jen, our guide, gave us all the great details and treated us to a wonderful fruit board. We can't wait to use some of this knowledge in our own island home.
Kids’ view: The tour guide was really nice and she let us try many interesting fruits. This was definitely a 5 star experience. She was really good at explaining the history of the orchard.
As someone who lives in Key West, there’s never a shortage of things to do—but it’s always exciting when something new comes along. Recently, my aunt came to visit, and we decided to take a drive up to Grimal Grove. I had heard great things, but once we arrived, my expectations were completely blown away! Patrick gave us an incredible tour of the grove, sharing stories and history about the land, the trees, and the exotic fruits growing there. He brought the place to life in a way that made the time fly—we honestly could’ve stayed all day. The grove itself is beautiful, peaceful, and easy to get swept away in. After the tour, we enjoyed a sampler platter of fruits, many of which we had never even heard of before, let alone tasted. It was such a fun and unique experience. They also have a shop where you can buy items like their honey—which, by the way, is the best I’ve ever had. We made sure to stock up! Whether you’re visiting the Keys or lucky enough to live here, Grimal Grove is an absolute must. I loved it so much that I’ve already decided I’ll be bringing more friends and family back to experience it for themselves. Huge thanks to Patrick—you can truly see the passion and heart he pours into the grove. It’s something special. P.S. Try the Mutiny Vodka made from their breadfruit, you will not regret it!
What a great experience! We loved everything about this and will be back soon! We learned so much and tasted some really amazing fruits! Loved everything we purchased and need to buy more honey as TSA took ours!
A very unique experience. Took the guided tour with Jen, who was great! Tasted some very delicious tropical fruits. A worthwhile experience!
We had high hopes for this tour and Grimal Grove did not disappoint. We were treated to the very interesting and informative history of the grove and its owners, the variety of trees, and the delicious fruit they produce. It was a delightful experience!
Grimal Grove is an awesome experience ! To quote our tour guide, “It’s a hidden gem here in the Keys!” She showed us the different fruit trees along with their history & what their fruit tastes like. We tasted fruit, honey, pickled fruit & their own vodka. It was a great tour and she was awesome.
The Grove is one of the best things I’ve experienced on my Keys trip. If you are in the Lower Keys you MUST take a tour. Get out of the touristy corridor! Many of the tropical fruit trees cannot be found anywhere else in the USA! Plus breadfruit is being cultivated and made into vodka #mutinyvodka. Very Informative, excellent tour guide and, best of all, you have a tasting of the fruits which are in season at the end! (& maybe the vodka)
We were having some cool, dreary weather on our trip and found Grimal Grove on an internet search. We weren't sure what we were getting into, but ended up loving every minute. Jen, our guide, had so much interesting information about the history, trees and plants on the property. She was happy to answer all of our questions, and we found it interesting how she was using the tropical fruit in a variety of ways in her cooking. At the end of the tour, we had a beautiful display of many fruits to sample including some delicious jams that Jen made. We also were able to sample a couple of vodkas made from breadfruit grown on the property. If you enjoy plants, fruit trees and gardening, you will enjoy this tour! We highly recommend it.
This is such a cool place and a tour for the senses. Samara was so knowledgeable about every tree/plant there. We had an opportunity to taste so many fruits, smell herbs and other plants. At the end there was a platter of everything in season at the Grove and it did not disappoint. What a fun afternoon, we will be back.
Great experience not to miss. Don't be put off by the appearance from the road. Looks like an abandoned site but it is a project in progress. Be sure to take the tour to find out the fascinating facts about this place. Don't miss the fruit tasting end of the tour and especially the breadfruit vodka and freshly squeezed sugar cane juice!! DELICIOUS!!
We have been regular Keys summer residents for many years, but this is the first time we wandered over to Grimal Grove with our two boys (10 and 13). Sara was our tour guide and she was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The tour far exceeded expectations and was one of our most favorite Keys experiences ever. It was a taste, smell, and visual adventure and will be one that we highly recommend to our out of town guests. It was family friendly, and both boys loved every minute of our visit to this gorgeous property. What a hidden treasure!
Shane was a great tour guide. The exotic fruits were delicious. Such a cool place to go and visit! The history of the trees and the land was really cool. We also had a very personal experience as well.
