Snorkel Tours To Shallow Coral Reefs At Pennekamp Underwater Park

Not as expected. We were given waivers asking too much. On the boat the captain told stories of prior guests getting badly injured, always says sure to remind us “they signed a waiver so not our problem.”

Amazing! From checking to the final docking it was great. Bring cash, reef safe sunscreen and it is not at the park you check in across the park!!

We had a great tour and enjoyed snorkeling the reef among hundreds of beautiful fish. Captain Rick and Carolyn were welcoming and helped point us in the right direction to see the reef. The boat was comfortable and included cold drinks for a reasonable price. Would recommend this tour to others!

It was good but the area wasn’t as clear as I remember it but still a good experience I’ve done this charter before and remember it was better

Captain Rick and Ivy were wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable, and the snorkeling was first rate. We saw so many beautiful fish, barracuda, and a spotted eagle ray. Unforgettable.

Getting on this boat was one of our favorite things we did in the Keys! I was a little nervous going way out into the ocean with younger kids, but it was absolutely amazing and so glad we did!! From the crew, to the stunning boat ride, to the snorkeling obviously this trip is a must!! Get on this boat and any other boat ride you can, the Keys (ocean) are magical!!

The tour is run by a wonderful family team. VERY helpful including the phone call we received to ensure that we got to the boat on time to make our trip. The tour ran very smoothly. Brought us to amazing coral reef with beautiful fish. Great family company that is worth supporting as the choice for going out snorkeling in Miami.

The initial boat ride out was good. Took about an hour to board, talk through procedures, get vests, etc and arrive at the reef. Once at the reef, the water was extremely wavy. One passenger fell due to the extreme waves. Everyone put in their gear and started snorkeling, many people were struggling due to the waves and I was one of them. I got back on the boat 5 mins after struggling with the waves. For the next hour, I was extremely sea sick on the side of the boat. Many people proceeded to get back to the boat after me with bad sea sickness. Many snorkelers had to be rescued with a flotation devices. 90% of people were back on the boat before the time was up. I’m very been on this trip with this company before and had no problems. The water then was calm. I don’t think it was safe to allow people to snorkeling in those wave conditions.

The place is not Pennekamp or at Pennekamp State park! It was Sundriver Station. It is a red and yellow building on the opposite side of the road before Pennekamp Do Not UnPack at the dive shop because you check in there and then drive 5 miles down the road to the boat dock. The circle K and boat dock are on the opposite side of the road when heading south. Not knowing all this information and a traffic accident almost caused me to miss the boat and really stressed me out. Due to the road to Key Largo and traffic situations that happen often plus needing to go to two different places once you get to Key Largo give yourself double the time GPS says it takes to get there. The boat and crew were fantastic. Justin was a super guy and very helpful! Remember if you take your phone into the water with you be sure it stays attached to you or around your neck. My adult daughter’s phone is now at the bottom of the reef somewhere. The crew and others tried hard to help her find it to no avail. We are hoping it downloads to the cloud before it dies. Lol

Overall good experience. Cost was fair. Would have been nice to have guide in water.

It was organized ,nice and on time but it was not at the coral reed at John pennekam Park .you adveritice like this . We ben at the John pennekam before and it is more beautiful and with more life marine . This coral was outside the Park . Also it is said that the snorkle it is not included but it is doesn’t said it is mandatory. It is not fair to makes us but snorkles there . I was fine to do it only with the mask

The snorkeling part was fun the crew was nice but we paid for the jesus statue tour and drove almost 3 hours each way just to go see that and was not informed until we were out in the ocean at a different snorkel spot that we would not be going to see the jesus statue. It was extremely upsetting as this was one of the most important parts of our trip the captain pointed out to other boats that were going to see the statue and said to us they are going to it it's about a mile on that direction and we are not. If they would have informed us before getting on the boat that they were even thinking about my going we would have went on a different boat

Awesome time! Definitely worth the money. Captain is very knowledgeable and helpful and friendly. Very easy adventure even if you aren’t a strong swimmer it is very easy to participate. Hardly any effort whatsoever while swimming around the reef. So many types of fish to watch and observe. Absolutely beautiful and worth every dollar and minute.

Carolyn and John were both so friendly! Be prepared to either bring your own snorkel or purchase one from the shop for $15 and coral reef sunscreen! Bring your own towel too!

Wonderful experience. 10/10 recommend to anyone thinking of doing it. Kids and family friendly. The crew was amazing

My dad and I took this tour based on the TripAdvisor reviews and it did not disappoint! We saw so many different fish in the reef and the reef itself was beautiful! The crew was super nice and helpful and the tour was great for families and first timers like myself. Awesome experience and would definitely go again if I got the chance!

Crew and staff at the shop and on the boat was awesome!!...couldn't ask for more friendly people....only problem was the grass floating in but that is obviously beyond the control of the crew...mother nature always rules lol

First, I want to say the boat trip was great. The water was beautiful, great location! My only issue with this company was dealing with the staff on shore. There were too older ladies that were rude and talked down to me and my family, one worked the register at the store, and one at the dock right, which left a very sour taste at the beginning of our trip. I understand they say the same thing to every customer, but that doesn’t mean that they get to talk down to people and make them feel like they’re dumb little children. You can explain something to inform, but you don’t have to be condescending.

The excursion was amazing. We snorkeled at a reef that was actually a national park. The water was a little more shallow, which was very much to my liking. We saw many species of fish, including parrot fish. The boat we were on was relatively new, super clean & well equipped. Their masks were perfect and fins were great! Captain Rick and his first mate Liber were welcoming and curtious. We are DEFINITELY looking to book with this company again.

We had a great last minute trip. We went out on the three o’clock and than again the next day at 9. Captain Rick and mate Liber along with Carolyn, Ioy took great pride in explaining everything to us. Kept asking if we needed anything. Thank you for the great adventures. We saw Eagle rays, turtles, and lots of fish

We had a great time in this excursion. They took us to a beautiful coral reef, and we were able to see so many fish. It was perfect for me, my mom, and my adult son.

This was our first time snorkeling and we had a fantastic time. The captain and crew were very safety oriented and attentive. My daughter got to see a couple of nurse sharks while at the reef. Thank you for a great experience!

We had a perfect experience on our Snorkel Tour with Captain Rick and Carolyn. They were very informative with the history and information. The boat was spotless and well stocked. The instructions were perfect and the snorkeling spot was amazing and we had plenty of time to explore. They were very kind and helpful and I highly recommend this adventure everyone in our family had a great experience!

Beautiful underwater views with abundant fish and coral. The experience was amazing with clear, warm water. Captain Rick and Brandon were wonderful crew making sure everyone was safe and having a great time.

This was our 9 year old daughter 1st snorkeling tour so we want to make sure it was low key and not going to overwhelm her. Sundiver shallow coral was perfect. Our boat crew did a get job getting us set up and ready to snorkel without making it to complicated. The reef was easy to swim to, clear to see, and had a great variety of fish. Overall was a perfect 1st adventure for her and we also had a great time.

This trip should have been canceled due to bad weather, and wasn't. The water was very choppy and dangerous. There was rain and audible thunder while we were in the water which prompted me to go back to the boat. Lightning quickly followed which caused the captain to finally blow the horn to get everyone out of the water and back in the boat. A complete waste of money and very dangerous.

Reef was not far from shore and was shallow so nice to see everything. Saw a lot of fish and a lobster. Visibility was 9/10. Very happy with the tour.

Great reef, great captain and mates! Very friendly and informative.

This was a really great experience. We took our adult children and their spouses out for the day. It was cloudy and I was really anxious about what the boat ride would look like. Make sure you check your your wind for the day wind between zero and 10 mph. You should have minimum waves and the boat ride should be pretty smooth. A couple sprinkles doesn’t ruin anything at the reef. We saw plenty of wildlife and everything was really organized Brandon justice and Joe did a great job of explaining the process and navigating us to the reef. Thank you all so much here’s to making memories

It was beautiful and this tour company knows their stuff. The equipment was clean. The boat was efficient…. I actually got sick at the end on the drive home from the waves. I didn’t even have to go into my bag. One of the crewmembers gave me a ginger too. It really meant that they were aware of me.! please support people who support the these guys are great!! This is a great race too. I can’t believe it’s in America.!!

ultimately, it is up to mother nature. The crew were fabulous, but they could not stop the squall that also stepped up the waves in my case this meant I couldn’t quite make it out to the reef, but I still had the exhilaration of the boat ride and getting out there in the water. I’ll be back for a rematch another day.

The guides for the tour were very friendly, engaging, professional, and committed to safety of guests, as well as safety of the reef. Unfortunately the weather was rainy and we had to turn back early due to lightning but I would go again on a day with better weather. It was very affordable.

I feel they are only interested in the money. The water was extremely choppy and the boat ride uncomfortable at times as we bounced at least a foot off our seats a few times. Once in the water, the waves were so strong that very few people were actually able to actually make it to the reef. I did not make it more than 5 feet from the boat and had to come back to the boat. I have snorkeled several times in Key Largo off a boat and had no difficulty making it to the reef. I feel they should have cancelled the trip or at least offer our money back

It was canceled due to weather. But they refunded money and notified us.

Well, it was nice to be part of this experience. Well organized and on time. The captain and crew were very clear with the instructions. We were able to see the coral reef and swim the beautiful waters. We only saw small fish.

Beautiful reef with lots of marine wildlife. Water was the perfect temp and clarity. Could not have asked for a better experience. Boat crew was also great!

Great boat ride and lots of sightings. My kids saw a sea turtle and we swam behind a stingray for a bit. Justus and Rick were great giving tips and helping our kids with their gear. When our youngest had trouble with his snorkel, they swapped it for one of theirs. The only reason this is not five stars is because I thought, based on the description, we would see Christ on the Rocks. We only learned about that being only the 9 am tour when we were signing the waivers. Would be nice to make that distinction in the description.
