We had an excellent experience! Beautiful weather and educational programming. Our guide was very pleasant, knowledgeable and entertaining! It was a great way to spend my birthday!
Excellent boating, beach combing and kayaking experience with Captain Jerry. He was friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area, the wildlife and culture, etc. My family and I were the only passengers that afternoon so he asked what we wanted to see/experience most and was happy to tailor the trip to make that happen. We really enjoyed the variety of being able to boat, kayak and spend time looking for shells on a beach outside the park. Would highly recommend this tour and this captain if you want a small group experience that focuses on the environment of the Everglades.
Serene peaceful nature experience. We had a lovely small group and were able to experience the true mangrove area away from the Marco crowds. Loved seeing the dolphins and birds and getting quietly away in kayaks.
Great trip! It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with Don, our guide, who was knowledgable and informative. He shared a lot of history of the area as well as information about flora and fauna (shells, sea creatures, edible plants, etc.). We saw osprey bringing fish to their nests, a bald eagle, dolphins, and just missed some manatees as they darted away from the boat. It's great to see the Everglades from the water. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us about all the animals, trees, and waterways that we saw. We got to see a small shark and a few dolphins as a bonus. It was a perfect day!
We had so much on the Boat Assisted Kayak Eco Tour. Being able to boat around the Everglades seeing the birds and shells and islands was amazing. And our guide was so incredibly knowledgeable. He even found us a pod of dolphins on the way home, and they played in the boat wake! We would definitely book with them again but without the kayak part: We'd rather spend that time walking the beach with our guide and learning more about the native populations and shellfish and wildlife.
Our naturalist tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We loved going in a kayak so we could see wildlife without so much disruption. The animal and plant life were incredible. They made the logistics super easy, and paddling was peaceful, not hard at all. This was one of the most remarkable short trips I have done in my life.
Don was very knowledgeable and showed us a side of Florida that we have never seen before. We loved learning about the history of the area and exploring the 10,000 islands.
Fabulous time out on the water in Everglades National Park with personable expert guide Dan. Dolphin, osprey, bald eagles, pelicans, cormorants, shore birds, even a magnificent frigate! Walked a sand bar and small island, kayaked in mangrove channels, and motored across wide expanse of the park. Magnificent!
Wanted a little more indepth tour so we decided on this. Our guide, I believe Dan, was very nice and patient. My 8 year old son asked a ton of questions and he never got annoyed but instead was happy to answer all his questions. I loved that it was relaxed and no other people as we explored the everglades. My only suggestion is bringing bug spray, because oh my goodness during the walk the mosquitos got us.
Dan was a great tour guide. He knows the area in and out. He took us to the places we could see the wildlife and he's familiar with the National Park rules and promotes education of the environment and ecosystem. We had the boat ride, walked an island, and took a peaceful kayak tour. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us the ins and outs of the island so we knew where to eat dinner or stop for ice cream after the tour.
All 3 tours were great! Our guide Chris was super knowledgeable. Equipment was in top-notch condition. In order from most interesting to less interesting, I recommend mangrove tunnel kayak, boat/kayak 10,000 island, swamp hike.
Dan was a very informative boat captain and engaged guests answering questions with ease! It was great having a small group as well.
Wonderful experience and the highlight of our trip to Florida- which included the Everglades, Miami, and the keys. This was all the family talked about. We did the mangrove kayak trip and had a great guide and wonderful time. Thank you so much!!
Dan Hubbard was EXCELLENT…. He is incredibly knowledgable of the area. He is a very skilled captain. He is friendly and patient. The tour was excellent
Don was very good as he was on our last trip. Very knowledgeable about the area, birds, sea life , and history. Highly recommended Thanks again Don
This was an amazing experience for our family! To have an in-depth look at the ecosystem of the mangrove islands was spectacular. Our guides Don McCumber and Ray paid attention to all the details. They both were a wealth of knowledge as we found fish, shells and animals and taught us about the history of the area as well. Highly recommend!!
We had a wonderful time with Don (guide) and Ray (boat driver). Don was so informative and managed to find all sorts of shells, and wildlife. Perhaps we could have spent a little more time in the Kayaks. We would definitely go again.
I had such an amazing time. Chris, our guide, was so passionate and knowledgeable. He took time to point out as much as he could and was happy to answer any questions we had. I could tell his love of the Everglades stemmed far beyond being a tour guide. He was so excited to share his amazement of this unique ecosystem it was hard not to be excited as well.
We had such a fantastic time on this tour! Captain Dan was incredibly knowledgeable, as a Florida Master Naturalist he was able to tell us all about the wildlife we encountered, including the pods of dolphin that played in the waves from the boat. He also had extensive knowledge of the Calusa Indian tribe and the archaeological history of Chokoloskee, as well as stellar command of the boat. We left with a new appreciation for the Everglades and the rich history still inhabiting the beaches and waterways. We can’t wait to return and bring our friends. We will book Captain Dan again for sure! So much more to explore and learn. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
The guide leads you to great places where you feel the magic of this place. You want to talk? He is there. You want time to breathe and let impressions sink in? He steps back. Super professional. Kids can ask a million questions and get answers. This was just a wonderful experience. Seeing and feeling how great our world can be.
It was a great experience. Dan was a great guide and helped us learn about the area. The challenge was getting drenched in the thunderstorm and getting back safely in the storm. It was tremendous fun, even though we got soaking wet. I would go again in a heartbeat.
The tour was fantastic. We got to experience the beautiful nature and saw lots of birds, a large school of dolphins and more. Our guide Dan gave us good insights in the Everglades' ecosystem. I had been looking for a tour that focuses on spotting wildlife and experiencing nature rather than action and adventure on faster boats.
Great tour, absolute amazing!! Guide Don showed us a lot of birds, small alligators and explained nature in the Everglades. Kayaking very easy for young and older. Thanks a lot for a wunderful experience.
Thoroughly enjoyed this experience and highly recommend it. Captain Charles was a wealth of information! The combination of wildlife sighting, environmental education and nature experience was second to none!
Just a great trip with a very good captain. he gave us lots of informations about the enviroment and the history of the everglades and we saw many birds, horseshoecrabs and even dolphins. the captain has years of experiance and can answer every question, thank you!
Don, our guide, was full of fascinating facts on the area, wildlife and history of the Everglades. We are a family if 5 with 3 teenagers, all of us captivated. We learnt so much. We saw osprey, bald eagles, so many shells and had a wonderful boat ride with dolphins surfing behind us. I’ll never look at a shell the same again. Highly recommended. Thanks Don, hope to see you on TV at the premier later in the year!
We had a great time, and we saw thousands of birds, a dozen dolphins jumping near our boat (being close to them doesn't disturb them), and lots of other wildlife. Our hilarious guide Don answered questions about everything we asked him with passion
My husband and I were fortunate to be the only two signed up for the morning tour, so we got our fabulous tour guide, Don, all to ourselves! Everything we knew about the Everglades we learned from watching TV, so we were expecting to spend most of our time in kayaks, surrounded by sawgrass, deep the swamp. Our experience couldn't have been less what we'd envisioned, yet completely wonderful in the most unexpected way! The Everglades in this area are salt water, so primarily mangroves, and we spent the first portion of our trip enjoying a leisurely boat ride and seeing a variety of birds and wildlife. We then reached an island where we walked the beach looking at shells, tiny crabs and a variety of other sea life. We even rescued two horseshoe crabs that had gotten themselves flipped upside down on their backs. What a wonderful feeling to watch them swim away and live to 'crab' another day! The kayaking portion of the trip was short, from one beach to another, which was fabulous because we both hate paddling. One we arrived, we saw the largest shells we'd ever seen, and found chards of pottery from the Indian tribe that used to live there. Don was a wonderful fountain of information on both the sea life, as well as the history of the area, and we were fascinated by all he shared. In sum, book this tour...you'll enjoy every minute!
Our group of 4 had a picture perfect day and it was certainly an experience to remember! Our captain and guide, Dan, was terrific. He provided a lot of opportunities to enjoy the dolphins, the various birds and fish, the flora and information about the ecology during our trip. Especially interesting was the information about the work being done by Florida to preserve the Everglades. We loved seeing the various shells on the island we visited (and Dan knew the names of all of them) and we REALLY enjoyed the kayaking experience, despite two of us being complete novices. Dan was a great teacher and encourager and made it a fun and non-scary experience. We hope to do this again.
We were a group of 5 adults seeking a quiet, calm, eco-friendly kayaking tour of the everglades. This experience did not disappoint. We were led by Chris, an extremely knowledgeable guide who educated on the fauna and flora of the mangroves we were navigating. Friendly and passionate about nature, Chris lead the group pointing out the alligators, birds and the diverse plants and trees of the mangroves. We were fortunate to see a mother alligator and her younglings, small blue herons and other varieties of large birds. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who seeks a peaceful approach to the everglades' beauty.
Exceptional Guide! Very nice, interesting and helpful employees. Wonderful first experience at the Everglades. I highly recommend!
Our guide was so knowledgeable, generous and helpful. Saw how the Seminoles created an island with oysters. He showed us all sorts of birds and sea life. The best thing was seeing three dolphins while kayaking!
In spite of the cold (blankets, gloves, hat, etc. were all needed), our guide, Don McCumber was informed, passionate and easy going. He was excellent, and we would recommend this tour to all!
Knowledgeable tour guide, chill vibe, and tons of wildlife. Highly recommend, especially if you like photography.
Chris was great. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We learned a lot about the vegetation and animals in the area. We saw baby alligators, grown alligators, various birds. We also kayaked through a mangrove canary.
Don was amazing in his overall knowledge from anything A-Z! We saw so many shells with univalve and bivalve mollusks inside. Lots of King Crowns, Fighting and Horse Conch. Some were huge. One Whelk Egg Case was 6-7 feet long. Also clams, Venus Sunray, Cockles, Razor Clams and Rose Petal Tellin. We kayaked a Mangrove tunnel and would have done more but a very low tide and some rough water made for challenges that were best avoided! We highly recommend the company and Don!
We chose the right tour! We learned a lot from our highly knowledgeable tour guide, Ron. Everything started and ended in beauty and in between we felt cared for and inspired as we witnessed and learned about the beauty and wonders of the Everglades, its inhabitants, and its former inhabitants. Loved being out on the water in an eco-friendly way. Thanks for providing this service!
We participated in this tour recently. The size of the tour, six people, was perfect. More than half of the tour was spent on a flat-bottomed motor boat among the 10,000 islands. This tour is good for people who are interested in a lot of facts about shells, birds, etc. There was one dolphin sighting by some participants but no manatees or herons. Participants should bring their own water and snacks. Dry bags weren't needed but would be smart to bring if you'd like to take electronics.
Great boT trip with Dan. A very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. Prompt to start, interesting information. I learned a lot about the wildlife and the history of the area. Would love to do it again sometime!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for our Boat Captain & Kayak Guide Don McCumber. Through his descriptions of the nature and his actions in the Everglades, it was clear he loves and protects the environment. Don provided excellent service to us!
Our guide, Chris, gave us so much information on the ecosystems! I loved learning about the flora and fauna during our kayak tour. He pointed out rare orchids on the way. The kayak tour was peaceful through mangrove tunnels and a great way to experience the area.
For lovers of natural ecosystems, it is worth every penny. The guides are funny, super knowledgeable, flexible and kind. We learned about the local history, the local flora and fauna, works of art centered in this location. We even got to taste some local bushes/berries in case we ever got stranded on those gorgeous, life-teaming, sugar-sand beaches. My only regret is that we didn't have more time. Three hours were too little.
Everything I hoped for. Serene, quiet, great pace, mangrove tunnels, bromeliads, birds, alligators, tons of info. Guide Chris Thorn was excellent.
The owner is a completely thief. We negotiated a refund but he rejected the request on TripAdvisor. We drove 4 hours to the property and he was late for so long. Don’t go there if you don’t want to waste your money.
We had a great time watching dolphins and lots of bird viewings. The islands were beautiful and the kayaking was relaxed and fun.
got message cancelling tour when we were 3/4 way there. then booked different tour.. payed for both tour but still waiting for refund from cancelled tour 20 days later
I had a wonderful time. Chris is knowledgeable and personable and well informed about the local flora and fauna as a local. We saw saw alligators, turtles, paddled through ma groves as Chris pointed out many native and invasive species. As an amateur naturalist myself I loved every minute of the tour and will hopefully bring my 11 year old back so to have the same wonderful experience. Chris was on time and efficient. The tour organizers communicate well and at no point did I not know what was going on. Thank you for making my last day in Florida awesome!!
Had a great morning Kayaking with Chris on the Turner River. Chris was a fountain of knowledge with plants and animals.
