Shell Key Shelling, Shark Tooth & Snorkel Kayak Tour - St. Pete

My wife and I had an absolutely amazing time. Our guide, Taylor, was enthusiastic and made sure that we had a good time. She was very accommodating to kayakers of all skill levels. She was very knowledgeable about all the wildlife we saw and she helped us find a shark tooth. It was a great day!

Such fun! Not too physically taxing. Got to see some beautiful areas. Taylor, our guide, was personable and knowledgeable. She made the whole experience wonderful!

We were not natives to Florida so every time we come we try to make some time and go on a kayak adventure. This one was fantastic not only did we find huge shells but we saw fun wildlife as well. Dolphins, sharks, and ducks! The admission fee is well worth it for this trip. The tour guide was just amazing she had a wonderful wealth of knowledge and was great to be around. Since we went in the morning it was beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

It was better than anticipated. Our guide was so knowledgable and flexible to our speed. She had an uncanny ability to spot marine life under the water at great distances. She definitely has a passion for what she is doing. It was a highlight of our visit.

This experience was absolutely amazing. Taylor was so sweet and so informative. Throughout our journey, she told us about the preserve and the wildlife in the area. She also took us through some mangroves on our way, which were simply mesmerizing. Any questions we had she answered, and was 100% honest about anything and everything, which I always appreciate. The trip was a workout, but so worth it. I look forward to book again in the future with my parents.

Went on the early trip to shell key and from start to finish the trip was awesome. They made sure to point out all the wildlife on the way and were very knowledgeable about the animals and the area. Shell key was awesome as well! Great adventure!

My husband and I have been on kayak tours before but this one by far was the best! Taylor and JR were so knowledgeable about sea life and shelling! It was so refreshing to see them get as excited as we did when seeing dolphins (up close) and manatees! This experience was unforgettable!! We will definitely be booking with them again our next vacation in Florida!

People canceled and I ended up being the only one on this adventure! Taylor was an excellent tour guide, and her knowledge of Shell Island was incredible. I learned a lot. There were a lot of manatees in the water and I actually was walking with them through the water. It was amazing! We also saw a lot of dolphins and birds. She found the most beautiful shellls for me and I enjoyed myself immensely!

We had a great time. We saw dolphins several times which was very exciting, and watching the birds struggling to swallow giant fish they caught as we kayaked was very entertaining. The guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, which made the experience amazing.

Taylor was AWESOME! She communicated before hand very well with the threat of rain and we worked a game plan that worked perfectly. She is very knowledgeable about all the surrounding areas and wildlife. Don't hesitate Book Now!

What a great way to spend the afternoon! I will admit, I was a bit hesitant about this trip being in my 50s and not exactly in shape, but I need not have worried! Our little group of six was very well taken care of - our guide made sure everyone was comfortable and could travel at their own pace, yet she managed to keep us together as a group. The mangrove tunnels were beautiful, and a nice change of pace to rowing on the open water. Bring lots of water, you will definitely need it, and maybe a small snack (power bar) to enjoy at the beach when you take the break to relax for a bit. I would highly recommend this adventure to someone looking for something fun on the water!

Honestly the best tour I’ve ever done!!! Paddled 3 and a half mile through beautiful mangrove tunnels, mangrove coasts, and shorelines. Saw plenty wildlife and found so many cute shells at the island. The tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable, would tell us the history of the islands, little fun facts about the wildlife, and any techniques for kayaking. As someone who’s never kayaked before, this was still incredibly easy and fun!!!

Really nice kayaks with great back support, excellent and thoughtful guides. On the way out these adorable Cormorants stuck with us and kept diving under the boat, which was really cool. Taylor showed us a whole bunch of different snails and birds and water creatures on the way and near the island. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys kayaking or SUP!

Really nice kayak tour with a well informed guide, who showed us really big beautiful live shells from the water and told us about the wildlife in the area. She even took us on a mangrove-tour just to show us how beautiful it is! Lots of birds swimming around and under the kayaks, they were so cute! Even saw dolphins too, and they came really close! Found beautiful shells at the beach. I highly recommend this tour.

This is the tour!! Absolutely loved this tour, shell key is amazing so the area is great. We got to see lots of birds, fish, crabs and even a dolphin with her little kid up close. We got to take a shortcut through the beautiful mangrove and found lots of cool shells. I would call this the complete package for anyone who loves nature and wildlife. Our guide Taylor was supernice and took pictures of our journey free of charge. She actually made our experience soo much better. 5 * just for her effort.

That if you have never kayak before the water can be a little hard to paddle with the wind. It's not like going down a river.

Local Tide Tours was very professional. It was easy to book online. When I called with questions, I spoke directly with the guide. Taylor was very upfront about weather conditions and very courteous with requests. While on the tour, Taylor explained the history of the area and included great detail about the mangroves, wildlife, and sea creatures. Our group consisted of teenagers, a college student, and middle-aged women, and the pace was perfect. This kayaking and shell collecting experience was a highlight of our Florida trip! I would definitely recommend Taylor and Local Tide Tours!

Not only was she prepared and flexible for different types of weather, she was knowledgeable about the waters, the wildlife, the shells, etc. She engaged both my kids and even towed one when he was too tired to keep paddling! this was such an amazing experience! our guide was absolutely amazing and very informative. she was able to spot a jellyfish for us and also a shell of a horseshoe crab.

We were visiting St Pete’s for a family birthday but wanted to sneak out to enjoy Florida nature. We were so lucky to book with Taylor who was a source of knowledge and so fun to kayak with. My daughter and I have done kayak tours before but no-one gave us such great tips to maximize our paddling and minimize our discomfort before. Shell key did not disappoint and Taylor went out of her way to bring us to a newer site with lots of shells and sand dollars. We saw dolphins, a sting ray, bonnet head sharks and so many birds we hadn’t seen before. I highly recommend this tour and this company especially if you can request Taylor.
