Don’t arrive early just at your reservation time as there is no early access. The Grandkids love the starfish and stingray Hands on tanks. I would like to have seen more than one mermaid. Also the time before the opening of the show needs to have more interaction with the kids. Maybe a shark costume person .
We love this aquarium & the people !!! It is obvious all the critters are very well taken care of. It may seem small, but you walk away from one station and walk back to it five minute's later and get a whole new look at sea life that has crawled/ swam out of hiding. It is family friendly and affordable. We will visit EVERYTime we are in the area!
What an amazing and mesmerizing experience. My two daughters (ages 9 and 12) spent several hours with two mermaid guides. The mermaids took their time and made sure each of my kids was completely comfortable before getting into the tank with their own mermaid tails. My daughters looked so beautiful and elegant in the water. There were cow nose rays, a few nurse sharks, and a ton of fish in the tank with the mermaids. Both of my kids are excellent swimmers and were familiar with swimming and snorkeling with a mask prior to this experience. I truly think that helped a lot. Also, Candy was so helpful with the booking process. This was such a memorable experience!
This is an adorable little aquarium. The tanks were so pretty and clean and the animals were healthy. We chose to do the stingray encounter. It was fun to let them come up to us and touch them. We wanted to swim with the fish but they weren’t offering it that day. The staff was so sweet and friendly and love what they do. The mermaid show was great. I do not see how they hold their breath and smile and act like they aren’t about to panic. I have so much respect for these merpeeps! Check them out!
We really enjoyed this aquarium. Not too big and overwhelming but still has a very large variety of sea life. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Fun and magical for little ones, healthy, clean, well taken care of animals with knowledgeable friendly staff.
It’s physically small, but turned out to be a great experience for our family that included a young teenager, two preteens, mom and dad, and grandparents. We got to feed the rays and sharks, pet rays, starfish, snails, and sea urchins. There was educational information everywhere and the mermaid show was amazing. I was worried that it was going to be a bust but it was not. Definitely recommend this experience for all ages - if they are interested in sea life (husband was bored).
I first learned about this place from watching the Netflix series “MerPeople.” I finally found the time to go visit this attraction. It was great! Friendly and knowledgeable staff, gorgeous birds and sea creatures, and a wonderful mermaid show. I highly recommend checking this place out! Keep up the good work Mertailor!
Lots of interesting aquatic creatures to see and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They appear to take good care of the creatures and their habitats. I like how all the creatures there have names. The colour-changing octopus was a personal favourite for me! The mermaid show was very cool as well. A fun way to spend about an hour and a half.
This place is truly a hidden gem. I took my young daughters for a magical mermaid experience, but had just as much fun as they did. The mermaid was stunning. The aquarium displays and touch tanks were some of the best I have ever seen. All of the staff were welcoming and friendly. This place is worth the drive or even a flight. I will definitely go again the next time I am in Florida.
Do you have grandkids visiting?! This place is amazing. Yes there is a real mermaid! There are numerous tanks with different marine life you can “touch”! Even if there other people there there are enough tanks dispersed that it doesn’t seem crowded. Staff is on the floor to give you valuable info and insight. Definitely a must see. Only 45 min from The Villages. We did the 11 am show Followed up with DANs clam shack about ten minutes away. They bring in their seafood from Martha’s Vineyard. If you like seafood. Yum
Awesome! Compact enough to see the fish up close, then feed the sharks and rays. Kid-friendly, too. The staff are knowledgeable and volunteer lots of interesting information. Don't miss the mermaid show!
My sister took me here for my 60+ birthday. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The mermaid show was great and I had fun feeding the stingrays.
Took my elderly parents for a visit and were pleasantly surprised. The doors open right at 11:00am and you cannot enter earlier. There are plenty of hands-on exhibits where you can touch starfish, stingrays and urchins. The staff are full of interesting information. There are also macaws and lots of other sea creatures like eels and lobsters. It is dark inside, and you are not to take flash photos. It probably takes about 1/2 hour to see the exhibits and then wait around for the mermaid show at noon. There are benches for about 30 people, so some of the kids sat in front on the floor. There were probably about 60 visitors during our show. Mermaid show was 'ok', I was actually more interested in the sharks and rays swimming around. Plenty of parking.
Rain was forecast and we fell back on this activity. What a chance! Touching skates, feeding them and feeding sharks was really fun. The mermaid show is outdated but requires great mastery that commands respect. In short, we had a pleasant time that was not expected!
