Key West Safari Eco Sandbar Tour Adventure With Snorkeling

This is a really fun experience. You drive your own boat and then stop for a swim/snorkel. It was really fun! Our guide Cole assured our safety and was informative about the area. He pointed out wildlife and was just a very nice young man.

Well planned, safe, nature driven, well guided tour. Definitely a nice break from Duval Street for the day. Ask for Noah to be your guide. Great dude!

Had a fabulous time on the water with the cutest 2 person boat. 45 min boat ride out to Mud Key. Our guide Sparky was amazing. Took us through a mangrove sanctuary and then on to the best sand bar. We relaxed for another 45 minutes. Very private and the calmest waters. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks Sunset Watersports. Very professional. I will book through you guys in the future!

We LOVED our time out on the water. Noah was an incredible guide, very knowledgable about the area and very confident in his role. The hidden gem beach he took us to was wonderful. We had a marvelous time! We would definitely recommend that you try this tour. It included driving our own boat, lots of water time and snorkeling in a hidden area. SO MUCH FUN!

Totally worth it! I've never been so its a little scary, but the water was beautiful AND we saw a pod of dolphins!

Logan was an amazing tour guide. Very patient and explained things well. We had a great time. Boats are easy to use. A nice way to get out on the water and explore Key West.

Unique experience, great way to see the water ways and sand flats around Key West, provided time for exploration and light snorkeling, and riding/piloting your own motorboat made our experience more personalized and thrilling. We didn’t see too many fishes, but a few popped out near the mangroves, and even a few crabs. There was some issue with one of the boats in front of us stopping and starting, supposedly due to the engine cutting out, but we were all able to make it back to the marina without problems. Great way to spend the afternoon and definitely the highlight of our trip!

Very fun experience. Got to drive a fun little boat, enjoy the local scenery, drive through the mangroves/sandbars, and hang out at the sandbar. We went to mud keys and my wife wasn’t a fan so my only suggestions would be to go to snipe keys instead for a better experience. Overall still great. I would have liked to explore another sandbar or more area on the boat if the trip was longer.

We had an amazing time on the Safari Eco Tour with Sunset Watersports Key West in Key West! Driving the two-person mini boats out to Mud Key was such a unique and fun experience. The tour was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation — soaking up the sunshine and seeing wildlife through the beautiful mangroves on the way out to Mud Key. The scenery was incredible and the tour guide made the whole trip easy and enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Key West. Bring sunscreen and get ready for a fantastic day on the water!

This was not at all what I expected. We took off from the marina, 4 boats following the guide, and went full throttle for 20 minutes out to the Mud Keys. We stopped at a small beach and was told that we would be there for 45 minutes. There wasn't much to see on this small island and no worthwhile snorkeling. The guide provided no information and there was no music or anything else to do. We then returned to the boats and went full throttle back to the marina. A big disappointment!

Great excursion! Relaxing and invigorating to "captain" your own boat on calm beautiful waters. Stopping at the sandbar to hangout/snorkel was a nice feature. Major bonus points for stopping to see several dolphins playing in the water near our boats. Our tour guide, Sparky, did a great job!

Great trip. Cole was a great guide!! We got caught out in a rain storm and he made sure it was clear before he lead us back!

We booked a the 1:00 Key West Safari Eco Sandbar Tour Adventure with Snorkeling. There were only four guests, so we were a small group. My husband LOVED driving the 2-person pistol speed boat. We cruised thru the mangroves on our way to the mud flats. A thrilling ride. Didn’t see much wildlife - a few birds and a crab. But being in the mangroves was fun. We didn’t snorkel, but the other guests did. It was nice that they provide the equipment. Kyle was a great guide. He was attentive and informative. We would definitely recommend this tour.

This is really cool adventure! You get to pilot your own pistol boat cruising through the beautiful green waters out to the Mangroves and Mud Key. Once there we explored the island, swam, and snorkeled. Kyle was our guide infinite. Highly highly highly recommend. Not your usual boating experience!

Wear shoes you can hike in muddy key and not sandy shore. The hike on the key was very fun we saw a hammock and a swing built on the key. Driving these comfortable boats was a blast. Fun group activity. Don’t be afraid to go full throttle. Only flaw was the guide recommended a 50-100% tip per person of the overall cost. Exorbitant and rude lout of touch comment.

20 minute trip on a sporty runabout arriving at mangroves where slowly explore followed by a shallow anchor to swim and explore the mangrove on foot.

This eco-boat safari was one of the coolest things we did in Key West. Driving your own little boat through the mangroves makes it way more fun than a typical tour where you just sit and watch. The boats are easy to handle, even if you’ve never driven one before, and the guides explain everything clearly. The ride itself is beautiful with calm water, tons of wildlife, and amazing views you don’t get from the main tourist areas. We saw birds, fish, and just enjoyed cruising through the backcountry. The snorkeling stop was a great bonus and a nice break to cool off. Everything felt well-organized and relaxed, not rushed or crowded. It’s perfect if you want something adventurous but still easygoing. I’d totally recommend this to couples, families, or anyone who wants to do something a little different while in Key West. Would 100% do it again!

We stood there and watched employees turn customers away, telling them the snorkeling boat had “already left.” That was a lie. Our reservation was for 1:00 PM. The boat did not leave until 1:12 PM — without our party of four and another group of six who were also right there. Ten people abandoned while staff shrugged and doubled down on the lie. When we questioned it in person, we were treated with open hostility. When we called the number provided for refunds, the person on the phone was just as rude and dismissive. No apology. No explanation. No accountability. This wasn’t a misunderstanding — it was blatant incompetence paired with terrible attitudes. They wasted our time, our money, and a chunk of our vacation, then acted like we were the problem. If you enjoy being lied to and talked down to, this is the place. Otherwise, avoid at all costs and book with literally anyone else.

Excellent day on the water! The Captain & crew were knowledgeable, fun, and friendly. The Captain was able to navigate us around a storm which took us a little longer to get to out to the sandbar but he routed us so that we could see dolphins. Ended up being a highlight of the trip! The lunch was good and there was plenty of food and drinks. Best day!!!

Kyle was a great tour guide. The boats are easy and fun to drive. Snorkeling is loosely used. Went out to a "mud" island. Not much to really see but was refreshing to be in the water. We had fun.

This was a great tour! The mini speed boats were fun and something a little different. There is something about being on the water that makes everything better! The team members were very friendly from the time we checked in and throughout the tour.

Overall, this was a fun excursion and reasonably priced. The views were nice, not incredible. You are supposed to arrive 30 minutes before the departure time. We were 10 minutes late, getting there 20 minutes before departure. The worker was not nice about it, even though we were registered and in the waiting area 10 minutes before the safety briefing even started. The boats are mid. The size of them is a little bigger than a larger jet ski, so be prepared to feel that in some of the wake. The excursion consisted of about a 20 minute boat ride at full speed to the mangroves, idle speed through the mangroves for 10-15 minutes, then we anchored on a small beach in the mangroves and hung out in the water for about 45 minutes to an hour. During this time there was the option to swim around, check out a swing or hammock in the mangroves, or snorkel. There was not much to see snorkeling where we were stopped. Once the time was over, there was a 20 minute ride back to the dock and the excursion was over. Some things that could have been better: had the small boats stocked with a small cooler of water/drinks. Included a cool spot to stop and snorkel or somewhere to potentially see things like dolphins, or stopped at a larger sand bar to hang out. The excursion has potential, just needs some refined tweaks.

Cool experience off the island. An opportunity to see a unique environment. I would do it again. Our guide was kind, helpful, and funny.

These little boats are fast and fun! The weather was gorgeous. We got lucky and saw a huge pod of dolphins right next to us. The sandbar was nice except for the mosquitos. The guide Dorian was informative and chill. Bonus the Stock Rock Grill before and after was also a cool vibe.

We had a great tour guide, very informative of how to drive the boat when we hadn’t done before it was also very easy! We saw dolphins on the trip, nurse shark (friendly) and fish. Was a really great day and views!

We've used viator many times. By far, one of our best excursions. Boats were easy to use and fun to ride. Mud beach was amazing. Just sitting in the water And wandering thru the mangroves. Company did a great job! Would do it again!

Great excursion. Was fun driving the 2 person boats, good instruction, small group (3 couples total). Nice swimming/snorkeling stop. Cafe at the marina was a good option for lunch.

Great captain, great sail, and plentiful drinks on board. But if you’re going for the snorkeling, don’t bother. This section of the reef off of Key West is almost completely dead. It was depressing to see what climate change has done to the Great Barrier Reef. This information should be noted on their website before purchasing, and not promoted as a snorkeling trip at nearby hotels.

Exceptional cruise, pristine ship, super helpful and friendly staff, excellent food. Can't wait to go again. Don't miss Scarlet night! We have cruised over 15 cruises, and this is by far the best.

A lot of fun boating, not so much the snorkeling. Our guide was very knowledgeable and got us going in the two-person speedboats and we had a fun time heading out to the Mud Keys. Unfortunately, the water was very murky around the key and full of floating bits of wood and grass and such, so we didn't bother snorkeling.
