Had fun learning about different aquatic animals. Nice size . It was in an area close to everything so I was able to walk around and explore
Regular price admissions in person were much less than paying the Viator price on the site. We utilized a credit and still over paid. Entire time spent was less than 45 minutes as the aquarium itself was very small.
Small but cute aquarium. The fish tanks, sea turtles, and sting rays were awesome! They even have a rescued sea turtle with a prosthetic “arm.” Definitely recommend stopping by.
A little tour of the Key West aquarium on a sunny day Wasn’t too expensive but was a little shabby The staff however were very helpful and informative and answered any questions we had The project itself is worthwhile but could do with being updated Great staff
super small aquarium. the tanks don’t have much to see in them and we finished the whole aquarium in 20 minutes.
We really enjoyed this! Shark feedings, guided tours and more! Also a great escape to the AC during a very hot and humid day. The staff was great, even offering free ponchos when a mid-afternoon pop-up storm occurred during the outdoor feeding demonstration. Not a large aquarium, but a quality one. Definitely worth the price of admission for a little education and break from the Duval crawl!
Cool aquarium in the middle of all the attractions. Lots of fish and sealife from the local area. Not the largest but more than you think inside. Touch tanks and your able to touch a gator as well. Definitely worth a stop if looking for things to do in old Town Key West. Dog Friendly as well!!
This a great experience. It was not a very large facility but a nice display of animals to view. The staff was very professional and helpful. I was experiencing a heat exhaustion and the staff was very attentive. They provided me with a chair, water, and even an ice pop with electrolytes in it. I don’t know the two young ladies names that assist me but please give my kudos to the both of them🙏🏾🥰💯.
Such a great experience! We went early and it was the best! Not too busy or loud and the animals were very active. Great staff and just a sweet walk thru space.
This is a great place to bring friends and family to learn all about the amazing aquatic animals throughout Florida. The ticket offers 2-day admission, so you can go one day and go back there the next day.
Kids enjoyed seeing the turtles 🐢. They also enjoyed being able to touch some of the sea creatures.
This aquarium was small but clean. You didn’t get a strong yucky fish smell when entering. The funny part is there is a fish food truck right outside the entrance. I bet the mischievous ones get fed to them. The shark feeding experience didn’t disappoint.
The aquarium is one of the things you really feel like you need to do while in Key West. It's pretty small and does not have a wide variety of animals. We did see upside down jellyfish which neither of us had seen before, but everything else was the same as other aquariums. There are some great live sessions where you can learn about fish, turtles, etc. We went to the outside area where fish can swim into it directly from the ocean. We caught a glimpse of a shark tail and one of the staffers confirmed that they have a nurse shark in there. It wasn't very crowded when we were there but it wasn't peak season either. We were there about an hour or so. We did not watch any of the films, so I can't speak to their quality. We may have missed out.... This would be great if you are traveling with kids.
The aquarium was smaller and older, but was very clean with very knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed the shark feeding. They have so many different shows and tours that you can see one regardless of when you get there. We really enjoyed it!
Fun and informative afternoon visit to the aquarium.
Admission was easy and personnel was friendly. Nice variety of sea turtles 4/7 species. One of my favorite activities was watching Lola get her prosthetic flipper attached.
Nice but on the small side. Nice variety of fish.
Small, but nice aquarium l. The sting ray feeding by Matt was informative and fun. Nurse sharks were also i terestinf.
Enjoyable time exploring the various exhibits. A good experience for an hour and if you have children.
great exhibits of aquatic life. . interactive experience with some of the species of fish. . very informative videos and educational content regarding the species exhibited. great location right near mallory square
Loved the aquarium … it’s clear the staff very knowledgeable and dedicated to the success of the aquarium (attended 2 talks and both were great)— all the exhibits had terrific displays of fish. It’s not a huge/expansive aquarium like up at Boston (for example) but per square foot basis just as good !!!!!
Stay for the presentations. Aquarium is small, but the presentations make the experience. It was a fun experience. I also enjoyed seeing all the old photos on the upper wall of the aquarium over the years.
Lots to see up close! Really enjoyed the mangrove tank, with sharks, barracuda, sea turtles and tarpon! There was also a huge green moray eel, and keeper talks. Free feed outside in the wild fish sea tank- and many varieties came up to eat! It was a fun stop and love the history of it also.
The aquarium is nice, small, exhibits are pretty, seems well cared for. Outside exhibits were very limited and some under construction. Because of these factors the price was high. That said, it’s a non-profit dedicated to good work so I don’t mind supporting them.
The aquarium is small, but they do a good job with what they have. The staff were friendly and helpful. It wasn’t crowded when we were there so was easy to get a good view of presentation and ask questions. The presentations were 15-30 apart so you didn’t have to wait long. The morning presentations repeated again in afternoon, so since ticket is good all day (can leave and re-enter) you can catch a presentation later if needed. Only gave 4 stars because like most everything in Key West it is a little overly priced for the value in my opinion. However, I do recommend it especially on a rainy day since most presentations are indoors.
A wonderful experience in Key West, especially for families with children. Learn so much about the sea life around Key West! Great exhibits, excellent staff that’s very knowledgable about everything in the aquarium. Tours on the half hour, covering all the different exhibits in the aquarium. Learn about sea turtles, health and rescue. Watch the feeding of all the different fish and sharks! What a fun afternoon… bring the kiddos!
The aquarium was ok. It’s very small and doesn’t have any parking which was a bummer so we got soaked walking there from our car which didn’t make for a great experience. They also don’t have a bathroom there you have to go to the mall next door. They had a decent amount of fish and some turtles and rays. My daughter’s favorite part was the touch tank. It’s all basically in one room and I think the gift shop is larger than the actual aquarium.
This is a great little awuarium. We did the indoor exhibits and really enjoyed all of the species of fish that was there. Outside shows were great as well
Not what we expected; I felt sorry for the sealife living in such small pools. I know its a very old venue and they do the best they can but not worth going, unless you're craving air conditioning.
We really enjoyed the Key West Aquarium. It's a fairly small aquarium but it kept the kids entertained for an hour or so. The talks were very informative (we attended the sting ray and turtle talk) and there were plenty of opportunities to ask questions. There were also fish in the tanks to look at too. Would definitely recommend visiting.
We visited here on a recent trip to Key West. The aquarium was nice, but small. Close to the cruise port, even though we were not on a cruise. The staff was friendly. They offered us free photos. We saw plenty of fish and turtles. A nice stop to escape the heat.
I have been to several aquariums. This is a very small. You can walk through less than 30 minutes. It’s a nice to visit if you’re under 10 years old. Teenage I wouldn’t recommend.
I diont know WHO said this was great! I went online to buy tickets at a discount through the company, glad I did!!! It was 33.00 for me and my grandson. The place was extremely small. It had some fish a couple Rays and a couple sharks. There was a couple turtles one of them looked like he was sick. It takes about 10 minutes or less to walk around the entire place. I really spent 33.00 to keep the people employed and the animals fed. If you want to feed the animals and keep people with a job, then go. Don't go thinking you're going to see something spectacular, just a heads up. My grandson was ready to go after 3 minutes.
They canceled our date for our event and never gave us notice until we got there need a full refund please contact me asap diaz3458@gmail.com
Lovely small aquarium with really nice and helpful staff. Most is indoors but there is an outdoors area as well. Interior arguably is dated but I felt that was part of it's charm.
Locals at the Hotel were I was staying recommended i visit The Key West Aquarium. What a disappointment. Only about 20 or so aquariums with some fish swimming around nothing impressive. Also some tanks had some small stingrays and a few turtles. One turtle was laying motionless and others patrons thought it was dead. We asked some of the staff there why that was. She replied. “It’s probably tired” not sure why a turtle would be tired from swimming around the very small tank that it was in. Turtles swim hundreds of miles in the open ocean and when they want to rest they sink to the bottom of the ocean so as to not attract attention to predators. This turtle was floating in the tank motionless. The $29.00 admisión they charged is not worth the visit. So if you’re in Key West don’t bother going to the Key West Aquarium. You will be waisting your money. Better spend your money getting a nice cold Piña Colada at the many local bars.
Very small aquarium. Lots of different fish aquariums and some small areas for turtles. There is a place with some nurse sharks. I would recommend if you really like looking at different types of fish as the price is not that bad.
Cute little aquarium. Enjoyed watching the shark feeding. The young girl doing the feeding was very knowledgeable. Worth a visit.
Very interesting, eclectic variety of sea life. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Great place to see and learn about the diversity of sea turtles and the challenges of their survival. Good place to take children.
Awesome place to go and they are adding on to it in 2021 so for the people that have been there before I suggest you go back because after looking at what they plan on doing it looks awesome!!
We went in to see what the aquarium offered. I am so glad we went in as we learned so much about the sea world. We jumped into a tour that had already started. MIKE was leading the group and did a FANTASTIC job explaining and was very welcoming to questions. If he didn’t have the answer, he was assured to get an answer in our case. It is nice to see someone take so much pride in their job. It is obvious that he cares for the fish there on a personal level. It was a great visit.
The aquarium staff was amazing. The amount of knowledge was a sprinkle of humor was very impressive. It’s a small aquarium but packed with personality! I loved Spike and Lola!
Was disappointed with the value and overall experience. Adult tickets were like $22 while kids tickets $11. It is basically one room with two outdoor areas. You can view all exhibits in under 20 minutes. If you are in Key West, there are better options to spend your time and money on.
Very little to see, run down and felt uncomfortable looking at the way in which the sea life were kept. Not worth the money, very poor
Rainy day in Key West so we were looking for something to do— this is a nice spot but it is indoor/outdoor so plan accordingly. We enjoyed the exhibits and staff were friendly. We learned a lot in an hour.
Disclaimer - we frequent the Georgia Aquarium so our expectations were a bit high. This aquarium is tiny. You can get tickets as a bundle with some of the other attractions on the island. We bundled with the shipwreck museum and that combination was perfect. Both take about an hour and they are across the street from each other so it turned out to be perfect. There aren't a ton of exhibits at the aquarium but they do try to enhance the experience with some short guided tours and with knowledgeable staff that will give you interesting tidbits about the history of the museum if you make small take with them.
This was a fun time! I learned about shark myths and new facts! Enjoyed the indoor and outdoor areas. ButMost of all I loved seeing the different types of turtles!
Small aquarium but fantastic. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Shark feeding was memorable as was stingray feeding. Learning abput the different fish that visit from the ocean st feeding times.. Lola the sea turtle who has a prosthetic flipper made for her... the variety of sealife. Going back for a return visit today.
The place was very clean the fish and animals were very vibrant Had alot of different types of fish Had some turtles and some sharks Was alittle expensive compared to amount of things to see and do
