Discover some of the most beautiful reefs in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park, part of the world’s third-largest living reef system and the only living coral reef in the U.S. This guided experience includes two snorkel locations in protected areas where you may encounter turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels, Dolphins, sharks and various fish species. *Please note: Specific sites are not guaranteed, and full-face masks are not permitted. In unsafe weather conditions , your adventure will shift to a unique mangrove snorkel, showcasing a vibrant and lush ecosystem. Boat riders are welcome to join for a scenic ride, soaking up sun on the deck or enjoying the water to snorkel and explore the reefs. Important: All minors must have a liability waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. If parents are not present, please complete this in advance, as friends and family cannot legally sign. We observe a 24-hour cancellation policy, Failure to call or no show, will result in you having to pay again to attend, and no refund or rescheduled trip will be offered. If unsatisfied with your trip, please see management after disembarking for assistance.
The weather for the snorkeling activity was not the best! But Gabbi and the captain Katie? gave us a really great time! And we got the see some really cool fish! Really good information and they both were really Organised and on top that really funny.
Captain Katie and First Mate Abby were great! We saw the Jesus statue and then we were off to Horseshoe reef. We were able to see quite a number of fish and my favorite, a baby sea turtle!!! The water was very dirty around the shore and that made me apprehensive about wanting to go on the trip. However, when we made it out to the reefs the water was much better. It was still a little cloudy but we were able to see lots of fish.
This was a wonderful trip, the people made us feel welcome and we got so many good dad jokes! 10/10 I would do this again.
Had a great time on the Sea Star with Captain Brad, Scuba Joe, and Gabby. Tons of beautiful views and dad jokes lol. The crew was friendly, welcoming, funny, and informative. The reefs, sea life, and statue were awesome. The water was a little choppy but Captain Brad ensured a smooth trip to and from the snorkel destinations. Would highly recommend!
Awesome experience! Beautiful clear water, and saw a Caribbean Reef shark along with 100s of beautiful tropical fish. Brad and Gabby were amazing! 10/10 music selections, hilarious jokes.
Great boat trip! Our captain was excellent and loved the “dad jokes”… made the trip fun and memorable. We got to see the Christ of the Abyss, which was awesome as we were told by another boat operator that it was too late in the season to see it. Lots of fish, a couple of turtles and some rays. Unfortunately I got sea sick and could only do the first swim but my husband did both and loved it. Highly recommend! Thank you.

We had the BEST time snorkeling with Captain Brad and Scuba Joe. We came to Key Largo to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The water looked a little choppy, but upon arrival to the reefs, it wasn’t bad at all. The visibility was amazing! Saw a nurse shark and lots of fish. We even snorkeled the Christ Abyss statue! Awesome day, lots of fun, and laughs. The dad jokes were amazing too! LOL. You won’t be disappointed!!!
I took two morning snorkeling tours and had a great time both days. Captain Katie and her first mate both did a great job of reviewing the boat's equipment and safety procedures as well as covering what we could expect while in the water. Their experience really shined when we reached the reefs and the Captain carefully chose the anchoring location based on the currents and waves to put us in the best possible position to reach the reefs. The layout of the reef and which areas might give us the best experience were pointed out to us before each dive. I can recommend using this professional crew for a snorkeling experience.
Great time with Katie and Nate!! We hit 2 spots and there were some snorkelers and divers, but everyone was accomidated for. Clear communication, safety focused and a fun time!
A friend & I booked a 1/2 day snorkeling trip in hopes of seeing Christ of the Abyss. Unfortunately the water conditions were way less than favorable. What I appreciated most is Capt. Bradley & Scuba Joe took our safety in consideration first and made every attempt to show us a great time and still got us snorkeling by the man groves. It was still such an awesome experience! We had a great time - luvd the dad jokes & all the knowledge they shared about the area. I’d definitely book with them again!!

Great crew. Definitely take seasickness medicine beforehand. I took one Dramamine pill and I was still super sick the whole time but the workers were great about it. The reefs were beautiful but I didn’t get to enjoy it much due to being sick. Went to two different locations. It’s also clear the workers care about the environment

Best snorkel trip we’ve ever had! Brad and Joe were super entertaining and a lot of fun. They made the experience excellent. They provided everything we needed, including snacks and freshwater. We also got to rinse off with freshwater after our experience we enjoyed the music and the knowledge that Brad had about the reefs. Joe was very thoughtful and helpful to everyone.
Great opportunity to see a wide variety of sea life during the two spot snorkel trip. The guides were very knowledgeable and entertaining during the excursion.
This trip was booked for snorkeling instead we went on a boat with a bunch of scuba divers to a wreck that was in 20 ft of water they were three other snorkelers on the boat with me. We spent most of the day driving out to the wreck and back, three other people got sea sick and threw up! This is not a snorkel trip of any kind! This is scuba divers only do not book a trip where they take both scuba at sametime...only snorklers trust me! Don't make the same mistake I did.
The experience was amazing and safe! I cannot recall the names of the two young ladies who drove us out to the reef, but they were knowledgeable, and more importantly, I felt safe with me and my son on board and in the water. I’m a mom that worries about everything. There is nothing anyone has to be worried about on this trip. Great experience! Highly recommend!

Had an amazing experience with my brother and his family! Katie and Gabby really knew how to handle everything and everyone with grace, humor, and firmness, as needed. This gave us as a mixed crowd of kids and adults the order we needed to make the trip comfortable and pleasant. I feel like we have a valuable review to offer because a month ago our adult son wanted to do a snorkel excursion like this one as well, so that experience is still fresh on our minds as a comparison. Weather aside—yesterday we had perfect weather conditions which also makes a huge difference—this crew offered a more comfortable boat and much better snorkel equipment than the first company we used, plus the areas where we were taken yesterday had a lot more coral and sea life to view while also allowing us to experience encountering the Christ of the Abyss statue which I was extremely excited to see! I am new to snorkeling but was surprised how easy it actually was with nicer equipment and that I could still view the statue from the surface. I really appreciated the effort Katie and Gabby made to make sure we got the opportunity since it’s not always easily accessible. It was a long swim over but they gave us enough time to enjoy it and then took us to another spot, less crowded area, to enjoy a safe natural reef with plenty of life to enjoy. On our first trip, my husband came back with a bunch of cuts and bruises from being too close to a tower that used to be a light house, but that’s where all the coral and fish were—not near the boat itself. On this trip, the reef was directly underneath us and we were able to enjoy all of it without having to swim too far (except if you wanted to see the statue (which was still very doable). Since the other trip hosted both snorkelers and divers, it seems like the crew focused more on the divers than on the snorklers. But with this trip, everyone was snorkeling and even without any scuba gear my brother still got to see a giant 7-foot stingray and others spotted turtles and starfish besides the colorful schools of fish that were hard for anyone to miss. Unfortunately, I missed the stingray and turtles but it was because I spent a lot of time with my head out of the water watching the kids! (My mommy/aunty side couldn’t help kicking in). But even with that, I was impressed with what I saw and had an amazing time. I also would like to point out that this crew also was well equipped and provided reef safe sunscreen (the other excursion didn’t) , plenty of shaded seating areas to fit us all in (my son’s girlfriend got sick), a huge cooler for everyone to use if they brought snacks and drinks, and a giant dry box to store towels and extra clothes and whatnot. They had cold water for us to drink but keep in mind that it’s from those orange cooler tanks with tiny cone cups, not individual bottles, so you might want to bring your own bottles for that. All in all, I had to say that this trip turned out to be a 10/10 experience and a more beautiful and memorable day for us all for an even better price than the first trip!! Will be booking with them again in the future for sure!
Captain Katie and Scuba Joe provided an amazing trip to the reefs. Horseshoe Reef was an actual colorful, active reef, which is unfortunately often rare to see. We saw lots of large fish. I also like seeing that this reef is getting a lot of restoration. They also took us to dry rocks, which was also active. Captain Katie waited until boats cleared out to give us the beat experience. I like the company’s commitment to the environment.
Captain Amy and Nate the mate did a great job. Purchasing, checking in, signing waivers, etc was all a very easy process. The Captain was very forthcoming when we arrived that conditions were rough and we could refund and reschedule if not strong swimmers. She also recommended motion sickness meds. The water was rough and about 1/3 of the boat got super sick, so I would listen to her. Snorkeling was great! My two teens loved it. We stopped two places with tons of fish and Christ of the abyss. We also saw dolphins. We didn’t see turtles or sharks but they said it isn’t uncommon. Staff was attentive and fun! Overall it was a great experience!

Captain Katie and Mate Gabby were absolutely amazing as hosts with Pirates Cove water sports! Both of these women were very knowledgeable and had hilarious personalities. Captain Katie was especially helpful when I came up from the ocean, and my eyes were on fire from the saltwater, she immediately gave me an ice cold paper towel to drip in my eyes, giving me immediate relief and allowing me to continue enjoying my experience. My husband and I will definitely be back again for another adventure of snorkeling and next time we will throw jet skiing in with them. We jet skied with another company, not knowing that Pirate’s Cove water sports offers everything water! Thank you ladies. 🫶🏼
Everyone was so amazing. The crew was great. The experience was one of my favorites ever. I’m ready to bring my grandchildren with me so they can enjoy this experience as well.

The captain and first mate were professional and courteous, but at the same time light hearted and very funny. They were very informative about the local waters what to do and what not to do. The cruise was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish! And the dive spots were incredible!

My family and I had an incredible time together on this trip! We got to see so many different types of fish as well as a nurse shark and an eagle ray! This was a very fun experience. Captain Cait and First Mate Liber were great. They provided very clear, professional instruction, but also made fun connections with participants and created an enjoyable environment. This is a great experience for first-time snorkelers, as you have concise and easily understandable instruction, and the excursion is not crazily physically demanding, yet you still get to see and experience some amazing sights and adventures. The long boat ride is certainly worth the beautiful sights beneath the surface of the water. The staff, the environment, and the excursion were all awesome. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
We booked a Pirates Cove Water Sports snorkel trip with Captain Katie and First Mate, Liber on Saturday, May 30, 2026. It was the best trip ever!! The water was warm, the fish were out, and more importantly, the crew was attentive and helpful. We are 73- and 82-year old women and are working toward a trip to Fiji. Captain Katie helped us learn to safely exit the boat with fins and snorkels. First Mate Liber was there to assist us with our gear getting back on the boat. Thanks to both of them, we had a marvelous trip! And will do it again next year. This is one trip you really need to do!!!

It was the best snorkeling experience ever—especially thanks to Captain Brad and Scuba Joe, who were amazing guides. I came all the way from Korea to experience this, and even though I was nervous, they helped me and made it unforgettable. Even if you don’t speak much English, you’ll still have a great time throughout the tour.

The boat ride and marine life were incredible! Such vibrant colors and diversity of species, not to mention the Jesus statue! This is a must-do if you’re in the Keys.
