Kayak + Guided Snorkel & Morning Sail Hosted By Honest Eco

We’ve been in Key West for a week, hitting all the museums and parks, and even thoroughly enjoying a sunset dinner cruise. But today was our last day, and we definitely saved the best for last with the Schooner Appledore Snorkel and Kayak Tour. Captain Jordan and First Mate Pintaliy were absolutely awesome. The food was great, too—pulled pork BBQ, chicken salad sliders, slaw, pasta salad, and boiled shrimp made for a super filling lunch in a gorgeous setting. Highly recommend them if you're looking for a great all-day cruise!

Guide Charlie was very knowledgeable in the mangroves as well as pointing out fish during the snorkel experience. Offering fresh fruit and veggies as snacks was an added bonus.

My time as a solo person was amazing, so don't miss out! Alexa and Heather took great care of us on the trip. They made sure we had anything we needed and also provided great information on the history, types of birds and marine life, etc. The fruit and snacks were great and appreciated! Alexa does a great job with maneuvering the boat and docking. Looking forward to bringing my family out again on another visit to Key West.

This trip is educational and fun. Our two teenagers loved it. For the morning tour, adrive early and walk around the docks. We saw massive tarpon and a manatee. Take drinks if you want anything other than water. We would definitely go again! Thanks Heather and Alexa!

I’m so glad we went on this tour! Captain Charlie was full of knowledge, friendly yet professional. He was in the water the whole time with us, showing us all the cool things and making sure we were comfortable. We saw a nurse shark, sting ray, tarpons, and lots of smaller fish. We kayaked under the mangrove trees and learned a lot about birds and why they say the fish in Key West live in the trees. Group size was small, which made it even better!

Excellent tour with this company! Andrew the Captain was professional and knowledgeable about the area. Savannah his first mate was great! She was hands on for everything from giving us a great tour to providing yummy snacks! Highly recommend!

Booking was easy, directions were clear, and the experience--from start to finish -- was amazing. We learned a lot about birds and their habitat during the kayak tour in and around the mangroves. It was just the right length. Snorkeling on the reef was the highlight of the trip for our whole family, members ranging from 12 to 72. The fruit and veggie/hummus snacks we're delicious and hit the spot at just the right times. Andrew, our captain, and Savannah, first mate, were friendly, knowledgeable, and patient, answering our endless questions. I highly recommend this trip.

The catamaran was very comfortable. We had ample space, shade, and easy access to fresh cold water, yummy fresh healthy snacks and restroom facilities. The Honest Eco team members were excellent. Captain Dan and our guide Charlie were both professional, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and fun. The small group size, there were 15 of us, was ideal for personal service. The activities were amazing. Our snorkel gear worked perfectly and the explanation of how to use was simple and complete. The location for the snorkel, along the reef was perfect as we saw much plant and fish life including big nurse sharks, stingrays, tarpons, goliath hogfish, and we even enjoyed a leisurely swim with a giant loggerhead turtle. And I know all this info because our excellent guide, Charlie was right there in the water with us sharing info and pointing out the sights. Then we kayaked into some very cool mangroves, again with our guide sharing stories and knowledge. It was fun and learning and of course beautiful out on the water going to the Wildlife Preserve. And everyone, from children to seniors, interests in doing and participating were supported and provided with a fun trip!! Would definitely recommend!

Honest Eco is the best! This was my fourth time on a trip with them, and this time I did the Kayak + Snorkel trip. 5 stars!!! I've left reviews before so I'm not sure if the platform will let me submit this. Captain Andrew and First Mate Sav led an amazing trip. What a cool crew. I appreciated learning where we were, having visual aids, great music and the fresh trays of fruit and vegetables! Everything felt seamless from getting in the kayaks to snorkeling. I could write a few paragraphs, but I will say we saw a yellow spotted sea slug, three stingrays, a huge Loggerhead sea turtle, a great barracuda, giant tarpon fish, Angel fish and more. Thanks for such an amazing day 🥹.

We had an incredible experience with Honest Eco as a family. Savannah and Dan were wonderful! They both took the time to explain what we were seeing, give us information about the areas we were heading into, answer all of our daughter's questions, and made sure she felt included throughout the adventure. The kayaking portion through the mangroves was both fun and educational, and we loved paddling right into the mangrove tunnels. Snorkeling the coral reef was a highlight of our trip. We saw lionfish, lobsters, and tons of colorful fish, making for an unforgettable experience. The fresh snacks on board were a nice touch, and it was clear that Honest Eco genuinely cares about the environment and sharing that passion with their guests. The small-group atmosphere made the tour feel personal and relaxed, and the entire crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. If you're visiting Key West, especially with children, we highly recommend this tour. We would book with Honest Eco again in a heartbeat!

Of all the charters and excursions we saw while out on the water, HonestEco was the quaintest by far. If you want standing room only and a party atmosphere, this is not your tour. But It’s exactly the experience we were looking for. We are glad we booked it. The kayaking was great, and the snorkeling at the reef was amazing. Had the weather been nicer the very next day, we would have booked to go again. Key west is best out on the water! Our hosts, Alexa and Claire, were amazing. We appreciated an all female crew (pure luck, by chance) and their knowledge. The snorkel gear was acceptable as well. What did we see? Birds (all of them), turtles, sharks, lobster, every single reef fish, and other excursion boats throwing pool noodles at people as they jumped in the water (yuck). Tips: Bring reef safe sunscreen please, and apply right after kayaking to give it time before snorkeling.

Captain Andrew and Marine biologist tour guide Charlie were truly fantastic. Both were professional, knowledgeable and clearly love their work. We saw so much wildlife and had a wonderful time.

We had an incredible time on this excursion! The crew was extremely knowledgeable, experienced and helpful. My girlfriend and I were newbies at snorkeling and the thorough instruction of how to use the equipment and the safety protocols put us at ease and made snorkeling a fun-filled, incredible experience! I want to give Charlie a special shout-out as he provided special support to my girlfriend (who was particularly nervous) to make sure she was comfortable and doing well. I highly recommend the "Kayak + Guided Snorkel & Morning Sail" excursion as top-tier. I would imagine all of the Honest Eco Tours are excellent! We would definitely book more excursions through them! This was a great trip, we saw Dolphins on our way out to the reef, the staff was amazing, Thank you Captain Noah, Charles and Sara they were excellent, Charles explained a lot about the area, the history, and they described what we were seeing. Once we got to the reef Charles swam with us and pointed out all the different types of fish by name. We saw a lot of fish, and a shark swam right under us, we had a great time. And we couldn’t have asked for a better day and crew. They severed fresh fruit and vegetables & Fresh water. Supplied the scuba equipment. The boat was nice and clean and plenty of room. customer service was wonderful and we highly recommend what a great experience. Be sure to bring some cash to tip the staff. We had a great experience!! Libby and Charles were awesome hosts! It is tryely exo friendly. Only bad point is that ee couldn’t sail today and had to motor it out for the whole trip.. next time hopefully we can sail too! Definitely recommend this trip!

We had a great time. Captain Libby and Charlie are very patient with the group. We especially like learning about the birds and the nature in the area. It was very windy the day we went, but they were very professional and did a great job.

My mom, sister, and I had the most amazing time hanging out with Brian and Dan today on the guided kayak/snorkel trip. Not only did we see amazing views and wildlife but our guides were incredibly knowledgeable and fun! They were so excited to share tons of info and show their love for the ecosystems surrounding Key West. They scoped out the coolest spots for us to kayak through (literally through!) the mangroves and the snorkeling location was absolutely amazing! We even got to see Dolphins on the way back to town which wasn’t even planned for our excursion. If you are looking for a friendly, family-owned team to take you out on the water in the Keys, whether it’s the snorkel, dolphin tour or sunset cruise, please use Honest Eco! And if you get to sail with Brian and Dan, you are in for a real treat. We will come back next time we’re here!

This excursion has it all - sailing on a catamaran out to the Wildlife Refuge, guided kayaking and snorkeling/swimming. Dan and Charlie were perfect hosts, and extremely knowledgeable about the ecosystem. Loved that they keep the group small (we had 10 people) and the delicious snacks - they really take care of you. Highly recommended.

I took the guided kayaking and snorkel tour - it was unlike (in a good way) any other water tour I’ve taken in Key West. Dan and Jackie were an outstanding crew, they kept it light, fun, and safe. The kayak tour amongst the mangroves (you actually paddle into them!) was super informative and interesting. The snorkeling portion was not at a dying reef (typical of most Key West snorkeling trips), but at the Key West National Wildlife Refuge where Jackie pointed out live sponges, lobsters, and fish. While on the boat, we were served fresh pineapple, carrots, cucumbers, and delicious hummus. Honest Eco is genuinely concerned about the environment, they are a top notch operation. I would re-book with them in an instant.

Captain Dan and Charlie were great. Charlie was very knowledgeable on sea life and we enjoyed the entire trip. Great snacks and cold water. Great option for someone not interested in the boozy tours and crappy food out there.

I never took the tour so my rating reflects my opinion of the business practices of Honest Eco. I booked a dolphin and snorkeling tour 2 1/2 weeks in advance. The day before the scheduled tour I was notified by Honest Eco that my companion and I were the only two who had booked that specific tour so they asked if we could choose a different date and time. We agreed, but asked that they notify us if our originally scheduled tour got more reservations and would take place because it's the one we preferred. We came to learn that our originally scheduled tour did in fact take place. When I questioned Honest Eco we were told that a private group had reserved the whole boat so they could not accommodate us. I don't know whether I was told the truth or whether Honest Eco was just juggling people around, including us, to fill up their boats. Honest Eco apologized and refunded our money. They may give great tours but their business practices leave much to be desired.

Captain Alexa and Charlie worked together like a well oiled machine to make the trip fun and fascinating! Give these two raises! ;) It was a great experience out on the water. As a bonus, I asked Charlie for advice on fulfilling a dream of seeing manatees and his guidance was spot-on! I found some! Thanks Charlie!

We had an absolutely amazing morning with Alexa and Jackie exploring the edge of a mangrove island and then snorkeling on the sponge "reef"! They are incredibly knowledgeable about the environment, and we learned so much about the keys ecosystem. Plus, they are just kind, energetic people and heart and even most of Jackie's jokes were funny:) Our biggest challenge for them was finding a way to get Lauren into the kayaks, wetsuit and snorkel equipment because she has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. No worries, though! They rose to the occasion and made sure everyone in our group had a great trip. I highly recommend choosing this tour if you're looking for an alternative to the crowded booze cruises and want to learn about the keys ecosystem and enjoy a great sail.

What an amazing experience. The mangroves that we travelled to were way offshore and as pristine as it gets. Our captain, Alexa got us there through a maze of sandbars and got us within kayaking distance. That is when our naturalist guide/biologist Jacki took over and describe the incredible wildlife we were sharing the mangroves with. Including the small sharks swimming around our kayaks. Afterwards we jumped in and had an amazing snorkel around the garden of sponges filled with all sorts of fish life. On our way back Captain Alexa set sail while we watched for dplphins all the way back home to Key West. Certainly a day on the water we will all remember for a long time to come.

Our family had a great experience on the Honest Eco "Kayak + Guided Snorkel & Morning Sail." While the snorkeling was a bit underwhelming on our particular trip due to recent storms, it was amazing while out kayaking to see dolphins, a sea turtle, pelicans, frigate birds, an iguana, and upside-down jellyfish by the mangroves. We appreciated the friendly crew and their fresh fruit & veggies.

Well run operation you will do some snorkeling and it will be guided and you will do some kayaking which will be guided. They offer water and very light snacks if you have children and they get hungry a lot please bring food for them or pack a lunch and they can put it in their cooler. We saw nurse sharks so many species of birds, stingrays, squids, turtles, beautiful barrel sponges and coral bright orange. We learned a lot about the animals and Flora plus history of the keys. Libby and Jackie were a great crew and it was an easy-going day on the water. Oh and dolphins !

Amazing experience with a wonderful guide and captain of the boat. We had a great time kayaking around the mangrove, I did not snorkel but others is and had a great time. the snacks where fresh and tasty. I would highly recommend!

Capt Libby &Jackie were great and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and wildlife. Weather in Dec was nice. The provided wetsuits and floatations made snorkeling easy and comfortable. We saw a sea turtle while kayaking, fish & lobsters while snorkeling, and dolphins while sailing. My 8 yr old daughter loved it, and the 4 1/2 hrs flew by. There was plenty of room on the boat (which has a restroom) and it had a stairwell that made getting in and out of the water easy.

Amazing staff, experience and weather. We got lucky with the weather, but the staff and the experience were expected from the reviews and they did not disappoint! We did get to see some dolphins, sea turtles, a ray, and so many fish and coral!

My wife and I went on a morning tour that included snorkeling around the reef and kayaking in the mangroves. We were guided by Captain Dan and First Mate Heather. They were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable, sharing stories about the waters we were in and facts about the history and sea life we were encountering. The crew was fantastic and made the excursion so much fun. The boat was in great condition and immaculately kept. The adventure they set up for us was a lot of fun and kept us going and engaged throughout. The reef was loaded with beautiful colorful fish. The mangroves were full of life with everything from Pelicans to Nurse Sharks swimming in and out of the mangroves. The adventure was a welcome change from all the bars and restaurants that Key West is known for. We will take this or a similar tour the next time we are down here. Dan and heather, you were great and Honest Eco represents the kind of attitude we look for in exploration.

We enjoyed our experience on the morning kayak & snorkle. The weather was great and the team was very good at their jobs. I had never been kayaking before, and I was very nervous. They made it easy and enjoyable! After kayaking thru the mangroves, we snorkled and enjoyed that very much as well. The snacks were fresh, healthy and very tasty! We highly recommend this kayak and snorkle trip out of Key West with Honest Eco tours. My ONLY complaint is this: Telling people to arrive 30 min prior to boarding is unnecessary. We were pretty miserable waiting for 30 min in the heat. Why not just tell people to be there 5 min before departure?

This was by far the best snorkeling and boat trip we took on our vacation. The women that ran it were professional friendly and super authentic! We loved the snorkeling spot and having a guide just tell us where to snorkel. The delicious food the sharks the water. Everything about this adventure was top notch and amazing!

Would highly recommend we saw dolphins the staff came into the water for the snorkeling and pointed out fish and on the board gave a history of the keys and all, about the dolphins. Small group and great staff do this and do not go with larger companies

Laura and Andrew were amazing and very welcoming! Although the tide was low, Laura did a great job in guiding us around the island where we saw lots of different birds, crabs, and an up close look on the mangroves! We also saw lots of cool fishes, a nurse shark and a stingray while snorkeling!

This was one of our favorite things we did while in Key West. It was relaxing and fun! Kalynn, Andrew and Dale were professional and knowledgeable. Next time we're in Key West we'll definitely do another tour with Honest Eco!
