Had a wonderful experience with Gwen! She was very personable and made the tour fun! 100% would book this tour again!
Paid 400 dollars for four of us to NOT SEE the Hemingway House; hilarious when we could have paid $19 dollars for a entry ticket with free tours inside which were more informative than the 2 hour tour; which we chose to do after. The boring Cesar wrap provided. False advertising again; not a good tour! There was one stop which was a small lunch provided. Broke locals ripping off tourists; do not recommend.
This was a complete scam when my family and I did this tour and have since changed their description. The tour did not include going into the Hemingway house even though that was the meeting point as well as calling something a “food tour” no it was a walking tour with lunch a Cesar wrap and a piece of key lime pie. Food tours go multiple places and get history into the food. This is a local trying to rip off tourists.
It doesn't include the Hemingway house, however you tour many of the important spots in his life here.Guide is local and very knowledgeable. Lunch was delicious! So glad we did it!
Our tour guide Caleb was very knowledgeable about Hemingway & Key west - provided great info as we walked. Please note that the tour did NOT include entrance into Hemingway’s home.
The tour guide was great. Knowledgeable and entertaining. Wear sneakers, its a long walk. It doesn't include admission to the Hemmingway house.
Caleb did a great job giving our group information on Hemingway and stopped for delicious food along the way too. Highly recommend!
Learned a lot and had a good time on this tour. Caleb was a knowledgeable and entertaining guide into the life of Hemingway.
Caleb was very knowledgeable about Hemingway and Old Town. He also shared a lot of information about Jimmy Buffet as an added bonus! For future tours, it would be great to know an ending point, as we had left our bikes all the way back at the Hemingway House.
Our guide really enhanced our knowledge of Hemingway and his life on Key West. O had no idea how crazy the island was even back then and how Hemingway fit right in. Would definitely recommend to others.
It was great! Learned a lot from our guide! Loved seeing and experiencing details about Ernest Hemingway.
Fun, interesting Caleb is a good tour guide. Very knowledgeable. The food was good key lime pie was great.
This tour was amazing! Our tour guide Caleb was very knowledgeable and great fun! The food was excellent as well. We loved it!
Great tour! Caleb was very engaging, funny and knowledgeable. Answered all our questions. Very good lunch. If you’re here in the summer months I suggest the early time. Also suggest going to the Hemingway Social Club after the tour for a drink and a picture with Ernest
If you are a Hemingway buff- or not, this is the tour for you. Caleb is a superb tour guide. My husband knows a lot about Hemingway, but Caleb is the “cream of the Hemingway crop”. We walked a ways, but it didn’t seem like it because we were totally engaged throughout. The lunch was incredible- homemade and fresh from a local deli and then there was Kermit’s famous key lime pie for dessert. Caleb makes this tour one of the best in Key West. (We’ve been on many food tours in Key West and this is our favorite)
Caleb was awesome. One of the best tour guides we have had in our numerous travels. Would highly recommend this tour for even more info on Hemingway. The key lime pie and wrap was very good.
Caleb is very personable and funny. He is a great storyteller with lots of interesting details! We heard a lot of information which is based on Caleb’s research.
Loved the walking tour, Caleb was a great guide and had lots of fun facts and stories. He even had a great story about Hemingway and Jack Dempsey that I haven't ever seen referenced anywhere. Highly recommend it.
Caleb was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He's got a great personality and was prompt. We really enjoyed the tour! Lots of interesting information.
The tour company attempted to get me to give up our tour for another. In the end, they ended up canceling on us, at the last minute.
Tour gives insight into the life of the famous author in Key West. Places and experiences around town that were intricate parts of his life. Caleb is a great guide!
What a fun, engaging and KNOWLEDGEABLE tour guide! It’s so obvious that he has an appreciation for key west history. Not to mention, when everyone that walks by greets him- you know you’re with a good local. Fun stories, fun facts (some we didn’t know!) and a great walk around the island. Highly recommend!
The tour is better than the Viator description. Knowledgeable and witty guide. Learned about Hemingway and Key West
This was an extremely enjoyable and informative tour! Our tour guide Liz was excellent and an absolute delight! She provided very interesting and extensive information and details about Hemingway, his wives, and his friends. The food was an exceptional treat and included all of Key West’s delights! This is an enjoyable tour to add to your schedule!
Hemingway walking tour. With wonderful Carol. New year’s trip 2024. All of us from Louisville Kentucky
Enjoyed our tour! Was fun walking around key west and learning about Hemingway! The food was delicious! Loved going to Kermit’s for key lime pie!
Loved our guide Caleb. So funny and willing to share personal life, it made the trip memorable. The key lime pie was great. My Cuban sandwich was tasty - albeit a little soggy. Caleb explained he had to pick up sandwiches to take to our seats bc the key lime shop was remodeling the restaurant. It was still good. Caleb is also a comedian. We are probably going to see him this week.
The company tried to switch our tour twice and when we wouldn’t switch due to other plans so they canceled all together. My feeling was they didn’t have enough bookings to bother. Now to fight and get my refund.
We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour with Caleb. He is very warm and engaging, and his colorful curation of Ernest Hemingway's life and times in Key West was fascinating and fun. He was able to make something he does frequently feel fresh. We enjoyed getting to know him and seeing Key West through the eyes of a Hemingway aficionado.
Caleb was our Guide. He was knowledgeable and did his best to keep us in the shade. I can't wait to hear about his play!
Very knowledgeable and entertaining guide provided some great stories and insight to the Hemingway experience. A highlight of the trip!
This was a fascinating and fabulous walking tour! The tour guide, Caleb, made all the difference in the world. He was extremely knowledgeable about all things Hemingway and kept the conversation lively throughout the entire walking tour also included in our tour that we didn’t even realize it was lunch and a rum punch WITH amazing Keylime pie for dessert. It was a warm sunny day and as I stated, Caleb was a fabulous guide. We’re so happy we took this tour and learned so much—good stuff ‼️
Caleb was a great guide. Warm, friendly, and told some great stories about Hemingway. Was a perfect addition to the Hemingway House tour which we did afterward. Love the Kermit stop for food and drink. Gave some great recommendations around the island and had some delightful personal stories to tell about his experience in Key West.
Caleb was a wonderful tour guide! We loved learning about Hemingway from him as we walked through parts of Key West! Happy we did the tour early in our visit so we knew a bit more about the history of where we were.
Liz was a perfect tour guide. This walking tour was full of information, and we got a better feel for downtown Key West.
This is a wonderful way to get to know Key West and appreciate the Key West that Hemingway knew. While the tour does not include a tour of Hemingway's residence on Whitehead Street, the tour does visit most of the places that Hemingway frequented. Our tour guide, Caleb, was excellent. A novelist himself, he had an excellent knowledge of Hemingway's life and writings. His stories about Hemingway and his influence on Key West added an extra dimension to our discovery of the history and culture of Key West. The tour included an early lunch at Kermit's Key West Lime Shoppe which included a slice of its famous Key Lime Pie. It was a great way to spend the morning.
Caleb walked us around the neighborhood of Hemingway house and gave us a great history of the man and the area. He was very articulate and provided many insightful observations of lesser known facts about him. He also provided a good intro into the living history of Key West. The meal was very good too.
Our guide had really done his homework! As we walked through areas of Key West associated with the author, he related stories of Hemingway's life that really gave the flavor of what life was like here in the 20s and 30s. Plus, he was extremely engaging and personable. It was a great experience.
Caleb was excellent! We had a great time and learned a lot. This was our first time to Key West, and this tour gave us great insight into this remarkable town and its history.
Loved Liz our tour guide and the little facts she knew about KW and Hemingway! She was very good at keeping all of the group interested!
Liz, the tour guide is friendly, informative and organized. It’s a well paced tour and we learned a lot about Hemingway and a bunch about the island also. Would recommend the tour to anyone who can handle an approximate 1.5 mile casual walk and can hear normally. It can be a little noisy along the way.
Caleb was our guide and was amazing!! He was so informative and really loves his job!! We learned so much!!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and organized. She had lot of great facts about Key West and Hemingway. We would highly recommend this tour.
Caleb was a wonderful guide we learned a wealth of information about Key West and Hemingway from the 11 years he sent on the island…
Caleb was an awesome, knowledgeable tour guide. He answered all of our questions and generally made the experience worthwhile! Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Key West!
First of all, call this a Hemingway Walking Tour with lunch - not a food tour. The only time we ever got out of the sun and the too fast paced walk was a sit down lunch that we had to scarf down in 20 minutes. The guide did not interact with us very well, wanting to only walk and talk with one another person so we really couldn't hear that well (there were only 5 on the tour other than the guide). She also got some things wrong about Hemingway (getting confused on the wives and the number of years he was married). According to our guide, Hemingway must have been married at 10. Reason I know this is because we had visited the Hemingway House and had an amazing guide. Our tour guide here also didn't know Hemingway had a sister boat now located in the Bass Pro shop in Islamorada. So, if you want to know all about Hemingway, visit the house and take a guided tour and then go to Kermit's and get your own lunch, which BTW was very good, although we didn't know what we were getting (including a rum drink) until it was hastily plopped in front of us. We were so disappointed in this tour. But if you enjoy long, fast walks to a few signs that says Hemingway was here, and hopefully you are not a vegetarian or teetotaler, then by all means, you'll enjoy this tour. If not, well, then just pass on by. Of course, judging by all the favorable reviews of this tour, we may have just had a not-so-good tour guide.
We really enjoyed our tour and learning so many "behind the scenes" tidbits about Ernest Hemingway. The walk was comfortable and we were amazed how much we covered as we were constantly engaged by our guide, Caleb. He was interesting, funny, informative and really friendly. Great way to get some exercise and see some historic sites. We left the tour with ideas on new places to explore, which made this the ideal tour for us.
Only one food stop. The food we ate, other than key lime pie, was unrelated to Key West. Other food tours were better and less expensive.
Great walking tour with a great tour guide!!!! So happy we did this! We learned not only more about Ernest Hemingway, but lots of very interesting information about Key West. Our guide also gave us new places to visit, that we didn’t even know about. Worth the money!! Loved it!
