Can’t praise Gypsy Gold Farm enough. The owner, Dennis Thompson, gave a fascinating history of the farm. We were able to pet the horses & donkeys. The Macaws are beautiful & very vocal. Note, bring carrots for the horses!!

What a wonderful experience! We learned so much about these incredible horses and had the opportunity to meet them up close and feed them some carrots.
We learned about the breeding program. We saw the beautiful, unique horses. We met giant and miniature donkeys and a couple of mules. Great experience.
great experience love the horses and staff are dedicated to carry forward these great horses
Excellent tour! Loved the history we learned and the gorgeous horses, mules, burros and birds!
Unique. Interesting. Informative. I highly recommend this adventure for horse lovers and non-horse lovers alike.
What a wonderful story the owner, Dennis, shared with us. The farm is clearly a labor of love for him and the tour was excellent.
Very informative. Love the beautiful colors and friendly horses. And donkeys, mules!!
Such a great experience. Horses and donkeys were amazing! Bad donkeys lol, got in to misbehave eating the horses alfalfa, they were so funny! Would recommend!
Wonderful walking tour and ability to interact with these beautiful, friendly and intelligent horses. Learned so much about these carriage horses used to pull the caravans of Gypsies. Donkeys, mules and macaws were an added delight! Highly recommend.
I gave this tour to my parents, and they have been absolutely raving about it ever since! My mother is hoping the owners will write a book with all the stories they shared, and has already decided to go again when I fly down to visit!
Beautiful farm, amazing horses and a great gem of a tour. The tour starts with a little history with Dennis and then guided and walking throughout the farm. we had a great experience and look forward to coming back for the story writing experience!
I relished a jolt of childhood curiosity and excitement listening to the preview by the owner who inspired with his personal story and shared with enthusiasm what makes this breed so special and captivating. A most inviting, tranquil, and insightful excursion! This tour is definitely one I’ll repeat.
I am so happy my wife booked this tour while we were visiting Ocala! This was the highlight of our trip. Dennis is a very interesting man with a great story. I agree with others that I could have talked to him all day! The farm is beautiful and what a wonderful and informative tour!!! The animals are well loved and such beautiful creatures. You really have to see it to really appreciate all the hard work and beauty of these creatures!! Thank you so much for a wonderful and interactive tour!!!
Fantastic farm with beautiful Gypsy Vanner horses and more. Dennis was informative and thorough in explaining the history of Gypsy Vanners and the Gypsy Gold Farm. Eileen did an excellent job introducing us to the horses (and donkeys) and giving us a great tour. Highly recommend! Excellent experience. I will go visit again.
I loved this tour. The property is absolutely gorgeous, the owners and everyone that I met were so welcoming and friendly. The history of the Gypsy Vanner is very interesting. Oh…and the horses….breathtaking!!!! Thank you for a wonderful tour, I will definitely be back!!!!
I can’t say enough great things about Dennis’s farm. The land is exquisite. Huge beautiful oaks surrounding a big horse stable with opera-singing macaws inside. Then under the oaks are the most majestic horses I’ve seen. You can just tell Dennis is a great guy. His daughters work the farm and do the tour with him. I want him to adopt me! 😂 Please go see Gypsy Gold.
Such a great experience. Got to see some beautiful horses. Learned alot and helped out a farm that deserves it!
Excellent well worth a visit very knowledgeable guide beautiful horses and cute little donkeys beautiful surroundings
David and I had an absolutely wonderful time at the farm. Dennis was a delight to listen to, Erin was a gem of a tour guide, letting us spend as much time and taking photos as much as we wanted. She answered all of our questions with loving knowledge, and I just knew how much she was connected with each horse, donkey and mule. I felt a loving relationship with each horse that I interacted with, having had a horse when I was a teen, it rekindled the emotional connection that people and horses share. That is one of the joys of my life. Thank you for bringing me back to those happy days. I wish you much success in your breeding program and send love each day to all of the amazing horses that I had the pleasure of spending time with,
The horses and birds were beautiful. Our tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable of everything involving the farm.
Such a Beautiful Ranch to learn about the history of the Vanner Horses. The tour was interesting, and you are able to pet the Horses and the Donkeys.
My Cousin and me took the one hour Tour and We loved it! When you arrive you see this place is nothing short of spectacular, the Barn is really something to see and the beautiful land full of very nice Horse corals fencing ,.Gentleman Owner had like a classroom of seats in his front lawn and tells his Story of how this all came to be with his love of Animals and the life and adventures of him and His late Wife which i personally loved - just let go of everything else and settle into the moment as He describes their involvement to how the Gypsy Vanner Horse became a real registered Horse and a big thing here in USA. The story he tells is heartfelt and He takes you with him on what was their Journey. Dive right in and listen and you can imagine it all and almost see each place He describes .. it’s a strong , enjoyable -excellent highlight that gets you ready to take the into excellent! His Sister in law who gives the Tour following thee presentation - She is totally perfect for this position.. She gives amazing tidbits and details of Each Horse & story along the way .. lots of interaction can take place as you interact and ask questions ..interesting facts you will learn about Mules and may see a Macaw Parrot or 2 - along the way .. You will also meet His Wife usually at beginning of tour that they together now own this magnificent Gold Gypsy Vanner Farm and Tour in Ocala, Florida - a must see !! Thank you kindly to All , Ann Hancock Boston, Ma My Cousin - a Altomonte Springs , Florida Gal her whole life.
What an incredible experience. This was one of the most beautiful activities that I’ve ever engaged in. The farm is incredible. And the horses are magnificent. The owners are incredibly knowledgeable and are so happy to educate about the history of this type of horse in the United States. It is incredible and not to be missed. I would highly recommend it and I have to say I would probably take the same tour again. Excellent all around.
The animals and staff are amazing. I have taken visitors there many Times and everyone has been thrilled with the experience. Photo ops are plentiful….. bring carrots and apples for the animals.. You are allowed to feed them
We absolutely loved this tour. We learned so much about this breed and its origins, both in Britain and North America. They are fabulous animals, as are all the others on the property. The people, the animals, and the setting made for a wonderful afternoon! I would recommend it for all!
Ce fermă frumoasă și cai. I especially appreciate the owners love and understanding of the ţigan culture. I highly recommend this tour.
As a horse lover, I really enjoyed this tour. Enjoyed when Dennis told about his life and how he ended up bringing the horses to usa. The tour was great seeing all the horses plus donkeys and mules. The macaws were beautiful too. Enjoyed it
This is a must see. The owners are pleasant, informative, caring and hands on. We loved hearing about the history of the horses and the farm. The animals were friendly. You could tell they were used to nice people coming to visit them. They would come to the fence as we walked up. Animals were well, I mean "well" taken care of.
Great to hear from the man himself of the history of the Gypsy horses, then he followed along in the walking tour to help the tour guide with any needed information she might not know and like to throw in a few extra stories
Owner’s knowledge and experience were impressive! Great humor! Got to pet the horses. Cute gift shop with good prices.
I have been interested in Gypsy horses for years and I was excited to find this tour. Dennis, owner of these gypsy horses, gave us a brief history of the horses, how his wife saw a pretty pony in a field in the UK, and how that lead to all you see on the tour. The horses are beautiful, friendly and love carrots (take lots LOL). This is a casual tour as you walk along the way Dennis talks about the horses, answering any questions you might have, you are not rushed as there is no tour behind you. As you wonder along the shaded path to see more and more horses you will think you are in a magical place, as the grounds are so lovely and Dennis was so personable!
The tour was amazing. I learned so much about the history of the horses. I was able to get up close and personal with the horses and get some great photos of the horses. We were lucky enough to meet two babies, 1 was 4 days old and the other a week old. Beautiful animals! Well worth the trip.
Had a great time. I really enjoyed the tour. Staff were friendly, and the tour was interesting. Enjoyed petting all horses.
The horses are beautiful, gentle, and friendly! We learned a great deal from Dennis Thompson about the history of the British breed and his success in bringing them to the US in the 90s. We also learned about the British Gypsy Roma and Traveller peoples, minority ethnic groups with a history in Britain that dates back centuries; the Gypsies were the keeper of the horses. Fascinating short lecture and generous-in-time walking tour! Don't forget to visit the gift shop.
The horses were very well behaved we were very happy that nothing went wrong we had a blast and would do many more times. Thank you for the amazing ride and amazing horses to ride!!
This is a wonderful adventure, learning about this amazing breed, how it was brought to the US, and how it was developed in the UK. We saw many horses, babies, donkeys, exotic birds in a beautiful setting.
Taylor’s easy-going personality was a plus for the tour. The horses were amazing. Patience, the donkey, was a great hit with all of us as he broke out of his pen and accompanied us around the farm. it was an unexpected treat for us.
What a charming morning! These Gypsy Vanner horses are incredibly beautiful! They are very friendly and clearly are expertly cared for with a great deal of affection. They love to be petted and will happily approach visitors to pose for pictures. The two hour experience is roughly divided in half with the first half being a very informative and entertaining talk about the history of the breed and how they came to be in the Florida. We were very fortunate in that the Farm's owner graciously gave the presentation himself! The second half of the tour consisted of a leisurely stroll through through the large corrals. We even got to pet the foals! Our charming guide answered our many questions and introduced us to the personalities of each of the horses. There were only (20) guests on the (40) acre farm - just lovely! The tour is perfectly suited to seniors. Chairs are provided for the talk. The walk was very easy but for those with mobility concerns several of the corrals are very close to the barn and there are chairs outside to sit out part of the walk if need be. The talk's educational content was primarily geared to an adult audience - it would not be suitable for very small children. Also (just to manage expectations for younger guests), these horses are not available for riding. The Farm does support school programs for the very young - I do not know if they have tours that are suited to younger families at this time (should have asked!). Logistics of getting there from the Disney area are quite easy - the drive was about 90 minutes on the Turnpike. The tour ended closer to 12:30 which was perfect for checking out the many local restaurants for lunch in nearby Ocala. It made for a delightful day!
If you are looking for a unique experience in the Ocala, FL area, this is it! Be sure to include the history/informative part prior to the walking tour. I would go back again...and again...and again, well you get the point! The horses are magnificent, the mules friendly and the owners make you feel at home!
Ages 58 to 85 ,we were the first ones to fly in for a family event . Trip advisor search for fun things to do lead me to Gypsy Gold tour. It was wonderful!!. The owners, Dennis and Erin were so welcoming and accommodating to our group . I was expecting beautiful horses and was not disappointed!, but was not prepared for the narrative Dennis provided …. Fascinating and educational . I highly recommend!
We did the 2 hour tour, which included a 1 hour overview of the history of the Gypsy Vanner horse. The history was very interesting to hear about and the tour of the farm was very enjoyable. Would highly recommend doing the tour that includes the history/overview of the horses. There were many different areas that we toured with an abundant amount of beautiful horses to get up close and personal with. We were allowed to pet the horses and the gal giving the tour was very informative and knowledgeable. There was Macaw's and Parrots at the ranch also. They would sing us a song and talk to us. That was fun. Beautiful property, beautiful horses, and beautiful birds. Very nice experience.
A beautiful walking tour. The horses are simply gorgeous. Such noble creatures. Bring baby carrots.
I was running late and the guide called me to make sure I was going to join the group. So glad I found this horse farm on this site. I bonded with some of the older horses and finally figured out how to feed one of them carrots. The guide was informative and it is evident she enjoys her job. If visiting Ocala, it’s worth the time.
Nice guided tour. Learning experience. Tour girl very knowledgeable about horses and donkeys and stallions and animal pregnancy and overall good explanations.
Excellent tour of a beautiful working farm and horses. Everyone was beyond nice and knowledgeable about this breed and its introduction to the states. The property was beautiful and shaded, but its Florida so bug spray, sunscreen, hats and water a must. Also, its a farm and there are horses, dress appropriately and expect to get dirty.
Beautiful experience!!! Beautiful horses that Gipsy Gold’s team take care of like the apple of their eyes. It's worth a visit!!!!
I was there with 2 friends and we all liked it a lot. Not only the place itself but also the 3 owners. Incredibly nice and great people with whom you could also have such a conversation. They really told us a lot about the place and the history.I would recommend everyone to go there once:) Since I'm from Germany I can't go a second time to do the longer tour.
