I was a little hesitant to go out because of what's going on, but it was ultimately a good choice. The price was affordable and the food was good.
Had an amazing time I would definitely do this again . It was very historical learned a lot of things about Miami we walked to 4 different places great food great time
My husband and I enjoyed every single items we sampled on this tour. For the price of the tour, the quality/ taste of the food was good = good value. The tour guide Steve was nice and informative. But he spent a little too much time on a cell phone during the tour. I recommend this tour to anyone who likes to eat.

Great trip including Joe's Stone Crabs. Foodie adventure

I went as a graduation trip with my girlfriend. It was my first time in South Beach and this was the perfect thing to do on the trip. Our tour guide was Steve, and we ended up lucking out and being the only ones on the tour. Originally we thought it would be a little awkward, but Steve made it really fun and gave us A LOT of information about the town. We walked to four different destinations. We had gelato that was handmade and absolutely delicious. We then went across the street and had some fresh crab. The third destination was a few blocks away, but not a far walk at all. We had some super authentic Haitian food and the BEST mojitos, and the restaurant was covered in hand painted artwork from a Haitian artist. Our last stop was a French food place that had charcuterie plate, ratatouille, and some of the best French desserts I've ever had. Overall the food equated to a good sized meal, so it was well worth the money. The only regret I have is not taking this tour when we first got into town, because Steve ended up telling us about a bunch of different places to go to to eat and have fun. We will definitely take his suggestions into consideration for our next visit, and we will definitely be revisiting some of these restaurants. This is a must do if you visit South Beach.

This is our first time in Miami and decided to do a food tour. We chose the South Beach Food Tour. Our tour guide, Steve, was very nice and informative. He provided us some historical facts about the area. The restaurants we went to for the food tour were unique on their own. We met at the 4D Gelato, then to Tap Tap Haitian restaurant, then to News Cafe, and lastly, the Otentic French restaurant. The foods were amazing. We especially enjoyed Otentic because of the variety of foods that we tasted. We will surely return to taste more of South Beach and Otentic.
Great evening- walking, visiting and eating!:) All restaurants were courteous, efficient and served delicious samples. We will go again and take friends. Thanks Steve for a nice food tour in Coral Gables.
Our tour guide Steve was awesome!!! They were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended! Good food and drinks, as well as tidbits of local history and culture.
I recently went on a food tour with 3 good friends. Steve was our guide. He is GREAT! Seriously! If you want to get a taste of Miami and learn about food, this tour is for you. I honestly didn't expect to enjoy the tour as much as I did. We were in a small group of 4. Not sure if that made a huge difference but I felt like we had personalized attention. I was hoping for a Cuban stop, but there wasn't a planned stop on this tour. I'm not sure if you can find out in advance where they will stop. But if you are open, you are in for a treat. I will definitely do it again the next time I'm in Miami.
Steve was excellent. The food places were awesome. We had Italian, American, Hatian, and French food. We talk about the Art of the buildings and the city. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything was very well thought out. This is a must do inmiami and choose Food tours of Miami.
This was the first time my wife and I went on a Food Tour. We met our Tour Leader, Steve at a designated location. He was punctual. Text communication was awesome! The instructions on parking and expectations were perfect. We had Italian, Haitian, Cuban and French. All of the selections were delicious! Thanks again Steve. We will do it again this summer 2016.

bad food and not much info about history/attractions

A food tour is the only way to discover a city or town you have never explored!!! This tour was great and even better because we were the only 2 people. Our guide Stephen was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend this tour!!!

The tour had an excellent mix of historical information and delicious food and drinks. As a frequent visitor I appreciated seeing a different side of this great city. Our group ended going back and visiting some of the restaurants we learned about along the way. I would highly recommend this activity!!
We had a wonderful time on our Saturday food tour! The food and drinks were delicious and the tour was interesting. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food and drinks that were provided on the tour and we definitely got more than our money's worth. The restaurants along the tour were well chosen local spots with great atmosphere and local flavor. We live in Miami and all of the restaurants chosen were new for us. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Miami or living in Miami and wanting to try something new!
I had a great time on the tour. Even though I thought we would visit more restaurants (we visited 4), the food was delicious and our tour guide was awesome
This was a great tour for the local food cultures of Miami. We had Cuban, Italian, French and Haitian. All were good, even for picky eaters. I was going to pick a favorite but I cannot. They were all good and we would try each of them again in the future. The walk was not too far and there were interesting points of interest along the route.
Food and restaurants were excellent. If you're doing the tour just to eat, this is for you. We spent the right amount of time at each restaurant and I felt the portions were good and I did not leave hungry. Tour guide, Andy, left much to be desired. More training is needed here. His girlfriend tagged along on the tour, and 90% of his time was spent devoted to her. I think she got the VIP personal tour while the rest of us tagged along like quiet lost ducklings. It was very unprofessional and awkward. Felt like a 3rd wheel on their date. I expected to learn more about the significance of the food and restaurants and even the sights on our walk between the restaurants we went to, but very little info was given, since Andy sat at a separate table with his girlfriend and only talked to her until we got to the last restaurant. I've been on a lot of food tours around the country and I would rate this one a 2 for tour guide and 4 for the food, averaging out to a 3 overall.
We are residents of Miami and took this tour to get a better idea of what Miami Beach has to offer food wise. It was really a fun little tour. We had plenty to eat, even a mojito was included and the variety of food and restaurants was fun. Steve does a good job of keeping everyone organized and chatting up the crowd as well as historical information about the area and restaurants. We ended up making great friends with the other tour folks and that made it equally fun. This could be a great thing to do pre or post cruise ship.
Today my husband, a close friend and I had a wonderful food tour on South Beach with Food Tours of Miami. Steve, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable about not only the food and restaurant scene, but the fantastic Miami Beach architecture and the history of the area. We went to four very diverse restaurants and had wonderful and unique samplings at each. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to get a flavor (in every sense of the word) of South Beach, and all that it has to offer.
We were at South Beach for my bachelorette! Did the food crawl and had so much fun. Nick, our guide, was cool! He handled our craziness and was patient with us (9 girls). The places were awesome! Everyone was very welcoming. The food were great! My favorite was the gelato place...yum yum! :)
I went with my wife and daughter on a warm Saturday afternoon. If you purchase through Groupon make sure you bring the printed group on paperwork or have it available on your smartphone. Steve is knowledgable about the area, restaurants and food. I've been on other food tours where we did a lot more walking with quick tastes at the restaurants. Steve brought us to places where we got to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant as well as cool off. I definitely plan on going back to Tap Tap and Otentic. Highly recommended.
My review is a little late, but the Food Tour of Miami was great! Our tour guide, Steve, was a wonderful host full of information about South Miami. I used Groupon coupons for the tour and lucky us, there were only 4 people on tour, therefore, we received customized services. We went to 4 restaurants all different but pretty good food samples. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in a little history and a little food and drink. I would look forward to doing this in other cities as well. The only down side is that it did include a lot of walking, if you are not up for that, this tour will not work for you. Overall, it was great and a lot of fun!
The guide (Steve) was great and we could tell he really enjoys what he does. We went to 4 different restaurants all completely different from the other with completely different cuisines. We were highly impressed with all the food and sampling and Steve gave us a lot of history and background information through out the entire tour, he also gave us coupons to return to each restaurant for a meal. It was a amazing experience and we would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested.
It is really a food tasting. Went to 4 different restaurants, Italian, Cuban, Mediterranean, and French where they served fairly large portions of multiple items. On other food tours, they just served a sampling. Amazingly, the tours lasted over 3 hours.
If you have been to South Beach Florida you may have seen nice architecture, art, wonderful diversified people and experience some great restaurants, food and drink. If you haven't you might want to go and while you are there take the Food Tours if Miami walking tour. During this tour of about 3 hours you will experience all of the above. Every place visited was different but all were enjoyable. We had a wonderful guide, the owner and met some wonderful people while enjoying different foods and cultures. It is not costly and in fact we were able to usea Groupon for further savings. ENJOY! Bob and Veronica Wroblewski, Rhode Island
I can honestly say I got my money's worth. From the gelato to the Cuban espresso shot. They say eat before, but don't eat a lot because your in for a few treats. The tour guide Steve is friendly and very informative. This food tour sealed me and my friend vacation. We got to see a little more of Miami Beach than we set out to. Eat slowly and take small bites because if you don't you'll go into food coma. Other than that, it was memorable going to four restaurants and seeing there culture and food traditions. I highly recommend it!!!
This food tour was well done and worth the time and money. There were only four stops, but it was plenty of food, a good variety, and an interesting route that allowed the group to see various areas of South Beach. I definitely recommend taking the time to do this.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Visited a sandwich/gelato shop first...delicious. Next stop, mojo pork and fried plantains...very good, then off for a Kosher dish of falafel and cucumber salad....good....the grand finale was a French restaurant, my personal favorite. There was plenty of meat, cheese and quiche to share between the 15 people on the tour, there was even extra that was packed up for some to take home. The quiche portions were quite hearty and delicious. The desserts were my favorite (I tried to upload a photo, but was not able)...especially the Crème Brûlée. Only thing I would have liked to see is if the owners or managers of the restaurants would have provided a little background information on the restaurant and the food we were eating. I would definitely take the tour again, the next time I have visitors in from out of town. Hopefully it will be when the weather is a bit cooler.
Ok so I am not a food critic and I don't know much about food but my partner is quite the culinary fanatic and she went out of her way to research and pick this food tour because of the great reviews. HOWEVER this was very very very far from anything exciting. We first started at 4D Gelato where we were served "Gelato" (Italian for ice cream...some might argue a healthier version) which I enjoyed because I am an ice cream addict haha. They had many flavors which you were allowed to taste and then you were served a small cup. Moving along, our next destination was a Hatian restaurant where we were served some Plat Frittay (to share) and a mojito (luckily not to share). Here we were given extensive lessons on the artwork in the restaurant which was nice. Then we were off again in the blazing heat being given history lessons about the area, which was not completely a bad thing. I for one like learning more about places that are completely foreign to me. We then got to the American restaurant where we were served "bruchetta"...like I said earlier I am not a food person so it turns out it was bread and some tomatoes. The little piece of bread was ok but once our tour guide announced we were leaving to the last restaurant soon after it dawned on me that we had visited 3 of the 4 restaurants and I have only had a small cup of "gelato," 2 pieces of "Frittay" and a small piece of bread. So I started asking myself how exactly am I going to be full by the end of this tour. On to the last spot, a french restaurant. We (all 15 of us on this tour) sat round the bar and were presented with 3 meat platters, again to share. For what its worth it was decorated nicely, however it was clear that it would be impossible for everyone to taste a bit of everything because frankly it wasn't going to feed everyone. My partner, like I mentioned is a culinary fanatic so she enjoys tasting these things...salami, cheese whatever, so she asked the tour guide if he could pass along some items on the board but his attitude was rude, pointing out that its for everyone to share. Eventually she was able to get something to nibble on but it was clear at this point what we were receiving was not value for money. Next came the quiche which was decent and lastly the dessert...oh the dessert. All those pictures you see up here is what you get however there are only two platters to share between 15 people. I saw some parties pick one desert to split amongst themselves and so my partner picked a cream puff for us to split and the "almighty tour guide" approached her in the rudest way saying its all for sharing. At this point she was irritated and hungry, I was irritated and hungry so we gathered our belongings and left for a slice of pizza. Do not get me wrong there isn't anything wrong with all four restaurants we visited. The french restaurant at the end was really nice. The food they had looked lovely. It is the food tour that my problem lies with. They say eat a light breakfast because your going to be full. Everyone burned more calories than they consumed walking all that distance for so little food. I heard more about the city of Miami than I got to eat. IN MY OPINION its not worth the money I paid for all be it I paid half price because we found a deal on Groupon. I hope others who enjoyed the tour would take the time to write an opposing review so those who are on the fence can make a good decision. I wish the company all the best. P.S Learn to take constructive criticism.
I went on the tour because of the great reviews it had on trip advisor, however was extremely disappointed as to what I experienced, I believe others don't write terrible reviews because the company says they will follow up on bad reviews in a professional manner etc... this is not a terrible review but an HONEST review. To begin with I read all the instructions and I did eat breakfast, a heavy one matter of fact, the tour states that tasting at the different restaurants is equivalent to lunch. Ice Cream to start off with is actually not the best place in my opinion, however I enjoyed the ice cream served and we moved onto the next place. We also went for lunch on Saturday 28th June at 11:30am. We arrived at the Haitian restaurant where we sat down and were served appetizers and a mojito. All this was fine, at the American restaurant we were told we would be served cheesecake as well and we did not receive the cheesecake just a poor excuse for bruschetta, I have had much much better. The bit on the tour that really got to me and what I found disappointing was the ending which was the French restaurant, the tour guide, kept emphasizing that we had to share the food, clearly if there are just a few cheese boards with selected meats, it was quite annoying and irritating that you were not able to take enough on your plate before he grabbed the board and passed it to the other party, it would have been nicer if they had waited for each person to take a decent amount, (I had one slice of salami, could not get the caramelized onions passed over or the mustard and a cube of cheese) Food Tours if they do respond should not tell me about what I had and what I did not have. The quiche was a decent portion but the cheese and meat board disappointing. Lastly the dessert board came out and I was extremely offend when the tour guide came out to me and told me off for not sharing the desserts. Now, he did not mention anything about sharing desserts, six desserts on each board and there are 15 people, I saw about four people take one for themselves and followed, there was no knife to cut or share anything at first and to pay $45 for this was ridiculous and if anyone paid the $85 value they truly got ripped off. At least three dessert boards could have been ordered and not just two if this is meant to be a tasting. He was telling me off for taking one dessert, I mean its a bit ridiculous if me and my partner are sharing the one dessert, which was a small cream puff. After that I was truly fed up with the deceptive tour and left early and went to find a pizza store because this does not fill you up. BEWARE, you will be hungry after, it says eat a light breakfast, please eat a heavy one. Also the restaurants that we went to on the tour were all low class restaurants, most of the food was bland, and not that enjoyable. Its best to just research good restaurants in Miami and go and taste a different on each day rather than the tour. Its a bit expensive for the tiny amount of food received, and there is hardly any meats involved, mostly breads, if thats not your thing, forget it.
We started our tour with a little confusion about our receipts but was handled with much patience on Steve"s part.Steve was our tour guide and he was pleasant and informative, made the tour more special. The restaurants were nicely diverse, starting with an excellent Cuban cuisine with the tastiest black bean soup ever! We had delicious gelato to cleanse our palettes then on to Pita Loca where I had the best falafel of my life.If they were in Weston I'd eat there every day.On to Ontentic a sweet French experience from food to staff. It was better than i expected and I will tour again when guests are visiting, hopefully Steve will be available.Thank you Steve : - )
It was better than I expected. Our tour guide, Steve, was genuinely enthusiastic, knowledgable about the area, restaurants we visited. Furthermore, he gave us info on other places to visit in South Beach and Miami. We ate at places such as Tap Tap, the only Haitian restaurant in South Beach. Fantastic! Very different, beautiful artwork inside and you'd never know it from looking at the place from outside. Go and enjoy soon. The French restaurant we visited Othentic was also excellent, best quiche I ever had, very nice people. The tour offers tastings only but they are nice portions with assortments, by the time you're done you're more than satisfied! The tour started out with gelato at 4D Gelato, again, excellent! The tour is great, our guide, Steve, was great. So glad we went.
I enjoyed the tour greatly. There is so much history in Miami and for locals we tend to overlook. There are so many places and dishes I would have never tried if it wasn't for the tour. The food was great! I plan on doing it again with a few more friends.
I was a little concerned I wouldn't be full from the sampling because it states to eat a light breakfast, but there was tons of food. The variety was excellent and my favorite was Otentic. I loved the coffee sample at Charlies Cuban, which unfortunately has closed now. I would recommend the food tour, it was a nice walk around South Beach.
We enjoyed the food and the tour. We will definitely go back to at least one of the restaurants to try more dishes. Besides the food, we learned some history about the area, had a great Haitian mojito and met some new people.
Stephen was great and the restaurants that he selected had great food. A really good time and I would totally recommend this to anyone who wants to experience a fun food tour in Miami
My daughter and I never go to Miami but decided the food tour looked interesting. This was a great experience for tourist and Floridians who never go to Miami. The food was excellent and the guide was well informed on Miami history. This was such a great experience we are trying to get a group together to go back again.
We live in South Florida but don't frequent the Miami Beach/South Beach area so were unaware of the great options for reasonably priced food. We had a great time with friendly people and delicious food.
My boyfriend planned a surprise visit to South Beach for my birthday and planned this tour so we could sample a few restaurants at the beginning of our trip. We absolutely loved this tour! The tour guide was very knowledgeable about Miami’s history, which was fun since we came from Indiana and knew very little about the area. We went back to both Tap Tap and Otentic during our trip. We look forward to returning in the future and would absolutely do another tour with this company.
The food was excellent and the free tour of Miami and its culture was included. Now we want to try Sunday's tour now!
Steve is a great guide. We went to a couple of restaurants from very different cuisines and they were all delicious. And it wasn't bad as far as the walk. Everything is on an even level, so no hills or anything crazy like that. Now, when they say to eat breakfast before, make sure it's not a big breakfast like what we had because we were so stuffed by the end of the tour. The samplings were great and I wanted to eat it all. I've never liked quiche and now I know French quiche is where it's at! Steve was also extremely versed on the history of the South Beach area, which I wasn't expecting. I learned a lot about the architecture and design of the area. The restaurateurs were all pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely go back to those places, and they make me want to seek out those cuisines at home. And Steve provided water! That was another nice, unexpected bonus. I would definitely recommend this tour. You'll get some Miami history and visit local restaurants for authentic, yummy food--a great way to experience something other than big name restaurants with overpriced food.
This tour is everything I thought it would not be. We signed up for this for a bachelorette and it was humorous, the food and drinks were delicious and totally worth every penny you spend and the sights were beautiful!! I'm from south Florida and I saw things that I've never known about. So much fun and worth all the money. Steven was also so great and I loved him as our guide. -Lauren
We went on this food tour as a group of about 10 girls for a Bachelorette party before going out at night. It was a lot of fun and Steve was a great guide! I've lived in Miami my entire life and had never been to any of the restaurants that we stopped at. The food was delicious, especially our last stop at the French restaurant. Steve was very educated on Miami Beach and i learned a lot. Would definitely recommend.
Food Tours of Miami didn't disappoint on the experience received: the food was enjoyable, the walk was easy, and a three hour tour felt like one because every sense from smell to touch was engaged and satisfied. I highly recommend this food tour for large groups, families, or even for a date. It was an economical way to eat a lot and experience a variety of foods as well as local Miami culture.
These restaurants were ones I had never seen before, and the food was something I wouldn't try on my own but now would try again - delicious. The second place was the best, with unique Haitian food and the best mojitos I've ever had. I was pretty full by the third place and the fourth place was a huge amount of food. I didn't even need dinner that night I was so stuffed by the end. The tour guide commentary was also a pleasant surprise as I got to learn things about south beach that I had never known before even though I've lived here for five years.
Food Tours of Miami really know their stuff. I live in Miami and before this tour, I have to admit that my impression of South Beach restaurants was that they were all Tourist Traps. I owe it to Food Tours of Miami for shedding a whole new light on my thoughts of South Beach Cuisine! We went to incredible restaurants with amazing character and authentic cuisine from around the world. I was originally worried that the hurricane-like storm conditions would put a damper on the tour, but this incredible experience completely took my mind off the awful weather. In fact, it was the best rainy day ever! The two people that opted not to show up for the tour totally missed out, but the rest of us weren't complaining because it only meant more delicious food for us! We enjoyed everything from Haitian, Cuban, French, and authentic Italian Gelato to top it all off. I can't wait to go back to these restaurants and even do the tour again, as our tour guide mentioned the restaurants are not always the same. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of South Beach and had just the amount of passion to make this an unforgettable experience. Try out their pub crawls as well!
I was skeptical of this tour when my wife purchased, however it exceeded all of our expectations! We would have never experienced these restaurants on South Beach if it wasn't for this tour. Definitely worth the value and we will sign up again when we return to South Beach.
The restaurants selected for this tour were great. The French spot at the end of the tour was the perfect icing on the cake. The Cuban coffee was splendid. The bruschetta at the News Room was delish! Three pieces of advice that would have been helpful before the tour is 1). Do not eat a heavy meal before the tour and 2). Dress comfortably (good walking shoes) and 3). Decide exactly where you will meet your Food Tour guide and describe what you look like and get a description of what your tour guide will look like..
