If you want to have an incredible experience, you should definitely take this tour with Troy! He picked us up at the hotel, making our lives so much easier than schlepping around Key West to get somewhere on time in an unfamiliar city. We headed out in his extremely comfortable (wonderfully air conditioned!!)van. He gave us restaurant tips along the way, pointed out things that the average tourist might not be aware of and shared the fascinating history about the early days of the Keys. We crossed over several bridges as we traveled through the Keys, getting an interesting lesson on the environment and ecosystems of the region. At Bahia Honda State Park, we saw an historic railroad bridge, iguanas (pretty exciting for city people!), and had time to dip our toes into the amazingly warm water of both the Gulf and Atlantic. From there, we went to Deer Key, where deer just wander through the neighborhood (again, pretty thrilling for city people!). We opted to skip the walk on the 7 mile bridge, but driving over it was thrilling. Our final stop was the Blue Hole. It was a quiet, magical place, with birds and other wildlife. After that, we spent the time being driven back to our hotel, chatting and sharing stories about places we’ve been (Troy is a fascinating guy, with some really interesting stories about living in Alaska and the times he’s sailed all over the world). We both really enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it to everyone!
Florida Keys Nature & History Tour from Key West, Florida was a fantastic half-day adventure and a great way to experience the natural beauty and history of the Keys. One of the highlights was seeing the Key deer, a protected species that was incredible to observe. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared fascinating information about the history of the old railroad and bridge access into Key West, which added to the experience. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a mix of wildlife, history, and scenic views while visiting the Florida Keys! Going to Bahia Honda State Park was also incredible!!
Tour was wonderful and Troy was exceptional! My family and I had a really great time.
We did an Eco tour with Troy and it was amazing! Troy was friendly and had a wealth of knowledge about the history of the Keys and the wildlife that lives there. We desperately wanted to see manatees and he made that happen - thank you so much Troy!!! We also saw deer, dolphins, manta-rays, alligators and lots of lovely birds. We came from a cruise and communication and pick up were easy and Troy gave lots of good recommendations for what to do after our tour with him. He also dropped us off at our preferred spot at the end of our tour. If we are lucky enough to come back to Key West we would definitely do another tour with Troy.
Its a long drive but got to see the Key Deer alligator a beach the old railroad . Guide told us about a lot of history
This was a good way to see more Key islands and the causeway. It was nice to get background history on the people, plants & animals that live here. We appreciate the hotel pickup, too!
First off I wanna say we had Carol as a tour guide and she was terrific. She is very knowledgeable about the history of the keys. It was fun seeing the little key deer’s walking in front of the van. She also told us about the history of the railroad and we were able to actually walk under the area and look up and see the work that had been done all those years ago. She gave us many tips on restaurants to go to. I hope if you do take this trip, you’re able to have her as your guide.
We wanted the half day tour. Unfortunately, they did not have a driver and canceled the event on me that morning. We did not receive any notice about the the early arrival of 9 am and could not adjust our schedule.
Overall, it was a super experience getting to see and hear about a few of the other islands in the keys along with the 7 mile bridge. The tour van was clean and comfortable and our tour guide/owner, Troy, was knowledgeable and most importantly, personable and entertaining. Nice tour. Would recommend.
We learned a lot about the history, nature and culture of Key West on this tour. Our guide, George, was very knowledgeable and entertaining with stories about the Keys. He gave us some choices based on our interests. He always pointed out animal sighting and knew we would the famous Key deer.
It was nice to tour the island with a local who knew the history. The nature portion was only okay, since it included seeing deer in a questionable area in someone’s yard, but at least we did get to see the rare deer.
Troy was an incredible guide, very knowledgeable, made the entire trip comfortable and worth while. He showed us all the hot spots in key west, super friendly cool guy. Highly recommend especially if first time visiting key west.
Fun trip seeing all the keys! And endangered key deer. Good history of all the keys and the original bridges and railroads.
Great tour guide (thank you Nancy!) and full of learning and experience! I always wanted to see key deer and was truly happy to see 4 of them at a spot that only a tour guide like Nancy will know!
Highly recommend this trip! Troy is very personable and knowledgeable about the area, and you will learn a lot. We very much enjoyed the tour, and the four hours flew by. Being picked up and dropped off at our hotel was a big plus as well. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
You can tell that Carol loves The Keys. She is knowledgeable and was a pleasure to have as a tour guide. She knows just about every answer to any question our group asked—although we didn’t have to ask many because she gave such a thorough explanation wherever we visited. Highly recommended. Thanks, Carol!
Our Tour Guide - Troy was absolutly wonderful. He went out of his way to make our experience the best! I recommend you using up the Keys for your next trip!
Driver very knowledgeable of history of Key West & lower keys. All 3 stops were very interesting. I am glad we took the tour.
A highly enjoyable way to traverse the many keys and bridges that make up the area! DeeDee, our guide, was very informative of the local history, life and times before and after Flagler's "Folly", as well as the floral and fauna. This tour included time at 7 Mile Bridge, the Blue Hole, and spotting the protected Key Deer. Pickup up and drop off at your chosen locations was provided. Definitely a great way to get out of the city and see these important sites.
We had an amazing time George was so amazing and knowledgeable! I am buying a book about the Keys . Recommend this to other friends.
The best. Kim our guide was awesome. Explained everything and was very personable. Made the whole trip. We saw the deer. Flaggers bridge and history. Birds. Fauna. Blue hole.
Troy was a most gracious host & tour guide! So knowledgeable, fun & entertaining. This was our first trip to Key West/The Keys and it was so enjoyable and memorable. Would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone!
Good little tour if you don't have a car. Definitely went some places I wouldn't have thought of on my own.
Our tour guide George from the tour operator „up the keys“ shared his deep knowledge of Key West and the nature reserves and all the surroundings of the tour with us. He provided lots of interesting information and I can only recommend him as well as the tour operator who is very customer friendly and reliable.
Excellent tour! Really enjoyed the sights and info the tour guide provided. She was helpful and pleasant and full of history. Highly recommend this tour to see the wildlife and nature side of Key West.
Dee Dee was an amazing guide! She knows so much about the islands and is upbeat and friendly! We would highly recommend this tour!
Wild life, --key deer, alligator, iguana, birds, the coral reef restoration stop, and JP's knowledge of the islands.
This was a great tour. Our tour driver was a long time resident who is a wealth of knowledge about the Keys, history and wildlife. We had adequate time at each stop to take pictures and take in the sights. We saw key deer, old seven mile bridge, a natural butterfly habitat and a lot more! We rode in an air conditioned van which is needed in Key West. Highly recommend!
From the moment our knowledgeable tour guide, George, picked us up at our hotel, to the end of our amazing journey several hours later, we were captivated by the natural beauty and rich history of the Lower Keys. George grew up here, exploring the then-undeveloped region with a young boy’s curiosity, so much of his knowledge is based on personal, first-hand experiences. His recollections brought the entire tour to life, in such a unique and mesmerizing way. Wow, we enjoyed every part of this incredible journey —from the vegetation to the wildlife to the untamed vistas that surround the hubbub of city life. Don’t dare miss this tour! —John and Pat Bowers
The trip was great. Very interesting! Glad I booked this Tour. George went above and beyond. Thank you for an excellent tour.
Loved meeting Mr Mike and hearing about all the history. He was a plethora of knowledge the vehicle could be better with working AC and less stuffy and perhaps a little more comfortable.
Scott was a wonderful guide and we are greatful he went ahead with the tour despite only the 2 of us onboard. Friendly and knowledgeable, this a great way to see and learn about the Florida Keys. We wish we had the time to do one of the longer tours, but this was a fabulous taster.
Scott was the best! Extremely accommodating to each Well worth the time Highly recommend this tour to everyone
Scott, our driver and guide, was amazing. He told us what to expect at each of the 3 stops, had snacks and water, gave us tips about places to go in Key West, and even offered to drop us off at a different location if we wanted. During our tour, we got views and photos from the 7 Mile Bridge, visited the Bahia Honda beach area, and saw Key West deer, Brown Pelicans, and an alligator.
What a great tour! My husband and I were picked up by George, our tour guide, and were immediately impressed with his personal knowledge of the area and its history. George provided a unique insight and shared many interesting stories throughout our time on the tour. It was definitely one of the best tours we’ve been on!
Excursion during cruise on Royal Caribbean. Amazing and Educational. Family-Friendly. *Correction: Actual travel: April, 2017*
Scott was an excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable and accommodating. I recommend this tour. We enjoyed seeing the little Key deer.
Great way to see more than just Key West and learn about the history of the Keys. Look for deer and other wildlife.
I went with my daughter. Scott was fantastic! We enjoyed our day! I had my 17 yer old with me and she loved seeing the animals and learning about ways to preserve their environment and history of the area
We saw so much in so little time! First we stopped at Bahia state park, then the seven mile bridge. Afterwards we saw alligators at the Blue Hole, and lots of deer at the deer refuge. Very professional and interesting.
Scott was a great guide. We were the only ones on the tour. He was friendly and informative while giving us some space as well. Lovely to see the deer.
Great!!! We enjoyed so much. This tour is a great way to learn about the nature aspect of Key West. It was Great!!! We enjoyed it so much. Elaine was an excellent tour guide. We met at the designated location on time. Elaine has so much knowledge of the area. She answered our questions with precise information. We learned so much!!! Elaine provided enough time for each stop site and took all the photos we asked her to take. Transportation was very comfortable. I really enjoyed the experience. If more tours like this nature are offered by the company, I’ll definitely book it, and definitely look to be under Elaine’s guidance if she is available. We met at the designated location on time. We were picked up promptly at 9:00 in front of our VRBO. Our driver/tour guide was Elaine and she was absolutely the best!!! She was so friendly and knowledgeable and we learned so much from her . We got to drive over the seven mile bridge, see some Key deer, and stopped at a state park. I would 100% recommend this tour with Elaine as your guide .
Great time learning about the History of the Area plus the wildlife. Scott was kind and helpful and it was exactly what I wanted to see.
The guide was super nice. The tour was just a little bit too simple for the price. It felt like we were in the van longer than actually exploring or touring.
Scott the operator very friendly, knowledgeable and great tour guide. Saw Key West Deer, went to Bahia Honda, The Blue Hole and several other stops. Highly recommend.
Scott was a great guide, he showed us everything that we wanted to see and took good care of everything.
We were able to learn a lot of the history of the area, see a lot of sights, beautiful views. Tour guide was amazing.
Excellent trip with Scott. So enjoyed seeing the keys and learning more of its history. Key deer were amazing.
