I would choose another method for the tour. There are better options. If you’re going to fast the tour skips ahead. Go to slow and their lots of dead time. Take the conch train or basically any other option.

Itinerary
See that big red buoy straight ahead? It’s hard to miss, as it’s the last thing you’ll see before the ocean. This marks the southernmost point in the Continental United States! Well, sort of. Let me explain. NOTE: The tour is over 100+ miles long, with more than 70+ audio stories, and takes about 2-3 hours to complete. New, Lifetime access, no expiry. Use it anytime, on any trip, as many times as you want.
The Historic Cedar House is coming up on our right. It’s pretty hard to miss, given the name! Why do they call it the Cedar House? Take a look at the house and the fence surrounding it. That’s right, they’re both made out of cedar. This is one of the only homes in Key West made entirely out of cedar.
Ahead on the left we can see the famous Kapok Tree. It’s the big one with wide branches spreading straight out from the trunk. Kapok trees are some of the largest flowering trees in the world, reaching heights of over 200 feet tall. They’re found in warm tropical climates, and considered sacred by many cultures.
The intersection ahead marks the beginning of US Highway One. Mile marker zero stands just ahead on our left. We’ll be approaching from the back of the sign, so make sure you walk around to the front for a better look.
If you’d like to take a quick detour to a piratical attraction, turn right onto Caroline Street. This will take you to the Captain George Carey house, home to the Pirates Well. The well is just out in front of the house.
On our right stands the Captain George Carey House! Have you ever heard of the “Wreck of the German Brides?” It’s a real thing! A ship wrecked near here in the 1800s and five German women survived. All of them were single, and every one of them ended up marrying a man from Key West!
Take a look to the left. See the sign for Truman’s “Little” Whitehouse? It’s a short walk from here, so if you’d like to check it out, you can follow the signs. But if you don’t, just keep heading down Whitehead Street while I tell you a little about it.
On our right stands the Audubon House and its surrounding tropical gardens. You can’t miss it! Constructed in 1849, this used to be the home of Captain John Geiger, one of Key West’s wealthiest men.
We’re approaching Greene Street, home to a very special Key West landmark: Captain Tony’s Saloon! The barstools in this establishment bear the names of celebrities who’ve stopped for a drink there. Want to drink at the same bar where Robert DeNiro, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, and Clint Eastwood once tossed a few back? This is your place.
On our left stands the new location of Sloppy Joe’s. Time to set the history straight once and for all. As I mentioned, this isn’t the original Sloppy Joe’s. But did you know that neither was Captain Tony’s Saloon? So where was the original?
Believe it or not, that white house with the porch on our right is the oldest house on the island! Built in 1829, it was home to the prominent wrecker, Captain Fracis Watlington, who lived there with his wife and nine daughters. Yes, you heard that right: Nine!
Notice the large white church to our left? That’s St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, one of the area’s most beautiful buildings. You wouldn’t know it by looking, but the church has seen its fair share of tragedy and disasters over the years.
Remember the fire of 1886? The white building with three archways on our right is the San Carlos Institute, and it’s where that fire began! These days it’s a museum, library, theater, and school. Oh, and an art gallery. It’s also been recognized as one of Florida’s most beautiful landmarks.
Just ahead on our right stands the Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. Here, you can see over 50 butterfly species from around the world, as well as gardens replete with flowering plants, exotic birds, and cascading waterfalls. Sort of a paradise inside of paradise.

Great low cost tour of some of the most famous places in key West. Technology worked pretty well, and was easily able to select locations out of sequence on a moving map as we wandered around town. Lots of good "inside Key West" trivia included as well.
This added so much to our trip! A memorable highlight for sure.
Great information and very easy to use. You could start and end at any point which was great because the best parking in a crowded area was halfway through the trip. As soon as we got out of the car and called up the app, the narration began with directions to the route. Loved the ability to stop and go into a museum or other attraction, get a drink and then resume your walk. Do go into the Butterfly Conservatory. Best attraction in the Keys
We did the stops going backward due to our location. That threw off some of the narrative stuff going in reverse order. You can start anywhere, but I recommend going to the stops in ascending order.
Great driver and narrator. He told us all of the things to see and look for.
This was an easy walk, up and back the two main streets in the old downtown Key West. Good history talks, this takes an hour or four, depending on photo and shopping stops…
Inexpensive. Easy self guided tour that takes you from Duval Street down to the Southern most tip in Key West. You can stop and pause when you need to, and also relisten to it later! Wonderful facts as you walk. Clear voice that's easy to listen to on your own device.
The guided tour of down town Key West was great. Due to some time constraints and where we were parked, we had to do the tour backwards. It would have been better to do the normal way as some information at later stops builds on earlier ones. However, the app worked really well and the information was interesting and fun. Definitely worth it!
Key West is beautiful, and has lots of interesting architecture. We enjoyed walking around town and learning some things about it as we went along.
We were very pleased, The positives: 1) Price is great $9.99 2) interesting information, And good length, each stop has around 1.5 minutes of info. Also Voice is easy to understand. 3) you can advance each stop on your own or it will go to the next stop based on your walking and gps. 4) begin tour whenever you want, no meeting time 5) you don’t have to steer at #1 stop, we began the tour midway since tattoo was near our ship. Small negative: It takes a few minutes and a little confusing to set up and get going. Not bad, but not just as simple as hit the reservation link. We will definitely use them again in other cities.
wonderful idea and interesting facts. We passed a lot of places that we were surprised were not on tour. They looked historical but I guess you can't put everything there. Had problems with phone with tour but it could be on my end. Didn't get to finish
The concept of being able to do the tour at our convenience and at multiple times is fantastic. We weren’t aware that we had to bring our own headsets, so we used our phone instead to play the guide comments. We did part of the tour one day and the remainder on a second day. The narrator is an excellent speaker with interesting and fun commentary almost every block we walked. From my perspective, I think this is the best way to get a comprehensive overview of Key West, provided you’re up for a long leisurely walk. Narration on each point of interest starts automatically as you reach an area marked on a map. Whoever designed the approach and the easy to use app is brilliant.
A good alternative to guided tours. I would think a guide would be more interesting but this is good for those that want to take more time
A potted history of Key West delivered in a very simple and easy manner via an app on your phone. As you walk up Whitehead and back down Duvall Streets, the app automatically plays at each relevant historic or cultural site you pass by. We learnt about some of the founding fathers of Key West and some of the major historic events. Very informative and useful 2hr self guided activity!
This was a very fun and inexpensive activity for our trip! We shared headphones and walked around for about two hours listening to the audio. This was a great way to learn more about the history of key west on our first day.
Great way to hear history of Key West and historic sights not already described on signs. Bring headphones and best enjoyed at average walking pace.
The app was easy to use. Followed us at our pace. We could stop and restart at will. We learned interesting information about Key West!
Easy to set up and follow. Narrator was clear and gave great information. Not too long commentary but can learn more if you wish to. Can stop and pause the tour to sight see, shop, have lunch and then continue. Very well done and would do again. This is our 4th audio tour with this company and would definitely recommend.
Great tour of Key West. I learned new and interesting things about this city. App was easy to use. ssssssssssssssssssss
The audible walking tour of key West was fantastic! Easy to load to your phone, or tracked me as I walked and I learned fun and historical information! I would highly recommend purchasing this tour! A great price also!
What a nice walking tour! Go at your own pace, stop along the way to eat, drink, or shop. Super informative and really nice that the audio starts as you approach each point of interest, no need to stop/restart the narrative.
Never did a self walking tour It was great lots of facts Could stop anywhere and then just pick it back up It had everything you wanted to see in key west
Self Tour app worked great. Loved all of the information. Kept up with you whether you were walking or driving a golf cart.
Very easy to use app. The narrator kept our attention with stories and highlights all along the route. If we stoped to eat/shop, as soon as we started to walk again, he would pick up where he left off. We felt as if we had our own personal tour guide giving us the history of Key West. We would highly recommend using this tour.
Easy to use. Fun info and a pleasure to walk along and have the story begin. 100 characters is a lot to write. Merry Christmas
