I discovered this tour on the Marriott Bonvoy app, "plan your stay". Very pleasant time spent on the water with Brian our guide. Luminescence (not the blue one as later in the season), flying/jumping fish, alligator eyes in the dark and a bonus of a manatee being disturb. Very instructive on Florida eco tourism, wildlife, all of this in the dark. If only the mosquitoes left us alone while around the cars

Don't miss out on Bioluminescent Kayaking at Haulover Canal in Titusville. Kayaking through bioluminescent water is truly a magical sight to behold, and it's an experience that you'll remember all your life. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon. Our cooler water bioluminescent experience is the Bioluminescent Comb-Jellyfish. These jellyfish light up blue when they are disturbed, creating a surreal and magical effect in the water. In the summer, dinoflagellates are present, which are single-celled, planktonic organisms. They naturally produce light so when the water is disturbed in which they are in a bright blue-green light glows. When you kayak through the sparkling water, you’ll feel like you are in another world. Florida-Adventurer’s Bioluminescence Kayaking Tour is locally owned and operated. We know the best spots in Merritt Island Nature Reserve. Our certified tour guides are knowledgeable about the area and they will share interesting facts about the bioluminescence and other wildlife we’re sure you’ll meet along the way. Please be sure to make your reservations early as this Florida kayak tour tends to book out 2 weeks in advance.

I booked our trip in Mid-October for my husband, our two friends, and myself. We booked for the 9:00pm tour and we were the only ones there which turned out to be great! Our tour guide, Brian, was friendly, funny, and taught us a lot about the wildlife we were seeing. Our weather was great and it was a very peaceful trip. We got to see both the bioluminescent plankton and Comb jellies. The bioluminescence weren’t as bright since we were at the end of the season, but it was still visible and even pretty bright in some areas. We look forward to continuing to bring our friends along as I find this to be one of the coolest hidden gems in Florida!
We booked day of traveling...it was so easy. Got caught up in traffic and could not make our tour. Called before tour started and they moved us to the tour following the one we were supposed to be on. Super nice! Tour was GREAT! We went out with 14 others. Tour guides were awesome. Answered questions, no matter how stupid they seemed to be. Had a great sense of humor. Javier and Terrance were the absolute best! Very knowledgeable about the echo system and history of the area.
By far one of the best adventures I've ever done. My daughter and I really enjoyed this and will do again. Your guides Jeremiah and Freedom were amazing.
Hands down the coolest experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been on dolphins tours in Pensacola, whale tours in Washington/Canada and this is by far the coolest experience. We got to see Venus, the milky way, several constellations, up close encounter with a glowing manatee and dolphin. Thousands of jumping fish which looked like a laser light show. Our guide was spectacular. A nearby guide from a different outfit sounded like a drill sergeant taking 1st graders on a field trip- we definitely won the lottery with our guide. The trip would not have been the same without Brian. O appreciate guides who don’t overshare but gives you the interesting information you need to fully enjoy the experience. We did this on our last night in town- had we done it before I would have made the drive to do it every single night. It’s super difficult to photograph with a cell camera but I’ll share the photos I was able to capture. The in person experience is insane compared to these pics.
We had an amazing experience with the best guide named Freedom! We were also accompanied by a new guide on her first day, named Chance, and she was absolutely amazing, despite it being her first tour! Freedom was extremely nice, and knew the area super well, which helped ease everyone’s mind on the bioluminescent tour. I would highly recommend choosing Freedom and Chance as your guide!!
Absolutely amazing experience! The guides were very friendly, informative, and helpful. We were lucky enough to see a launch while kayaking. The water was magical, and so peaceful. Highly recommend this trip!
We had so much fun! We were surprised by how much we saw light up in the water and our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. It was a great time stargazing too. Would definitely book again!!
My husband and I could not have asked for a better experience. We have experienced the bioluminescence before in Jamaica but this was next level. We were spoiled by being the only ones on the tour, and our guide, Brian, pulled out all the stops. He is incredibly knowledgeable about all of the species in the area and had an answer for all of our questions, from how long dolphins can hold their breath to how the mangrove trees reproduce by propagules. Brian took us to all the places we were most likely to see awesome stuff. We saw the 'trifecta' of creatures on our tour: an alligator, manatee, and dolphin. Brian even knew what specific alligator we were looking at and how long it had been residing in that area! Of course, the bioluminescent dinoflagellates were the star of the show. The real-life magic of these glowing blue organisms cannot be overstated. You can see every single fish dart through the water, leaving a sparkling trail - and there are TONS of them. It is so unbelievably peaceful just gliding through the glowing water in the clear night. The conditions were optimal when we went - lovely temperature even with long sleeves on, light winds, and a new moon. We did not have an issue with mosquitos or other annoyances on the water despite being August, though there were some in the parking lot area. Nothing bug spray couldn't ward off. In sum, this trip is nothing short of magical. It was worth the hour drive from Daytona and far beyond that. If you're anywhere near this area, it is an absolute must. I would do this a hundred times over.
Three of us did the bioluminescent tour and it was awesome! We happened to go on a very dark night and the glow in the water was fantastic. Every stroke of the paddle lit up a bright blue. We saw lots of fish and even sting rays swimming in the water and leaving a glowing trail. There was a very light rain and every raindrop glowed when it hit the water. The effect was amazing. We were lucky enough to see a manatee even which I believe is rare at night. Our guides, Lucas and Gavin were the best. They were knowledgeable, professional and very good at their jobs. One person in my group cannot swim and had never kayaked. She felt perfectly safe and thoroughly enjoyed the experience thanks to the expertise of Lucas. I cannot recommend the bioluminescent tour with Florida Adventurer enough. It’s a bucket list trip.
What a magical experience! It was super easy to purchase tickets, even last minute, and Terrance was a great guide. He was welcoming, funny, thoughtful, knowledgeable and helpful. I will absolutely be recommending the experience to anyone I can. The night we went was a "10/10" one for bioluminescence, even with a bright moon, and the air and water were the perfect warmth. Our group was expected to be 12, but only 5 of us showed up, and it really was fantastic. It was amazing to see not just the glow as we moved our paddles or as the kayaks bounced on the waves, but to see fish and rays illuminated briefly like ghosts in the water as they darted around. Learning more about the history and the science from Terrance made it even more memorable.
My childhood friend and I always wanted to experience this adventure and decided for her birthday to do it. It was a good experience and guides were friendly and knowledgeable about the refuge.
Had a wonderful time! Terrance was funny and you could tell he wanted to give us the best experience possible! He gave us some history of the area, a science lesson, and we saw a dolphin!! The glow was amazing. One in a lifetime opportunity for us and it exceeded expectations!
Such a fun night under the stars! The waters were calm. We expected more bioluminescence waters (like the pictures), but we saw a bunch of jumping fish and learned a lot from our guide “Terrence” about the history & ecosystem! Thank you 💦
The bioluminescence itself was beautiful, and I believe we would have enjoyed this tour much more if we had been able to spend more time experiencing it. Unfortunately, about five minutes into the tour, one kayak cut in front of a tow boat and nearly caused an accident. There was a lot of profanity afterward, from the tug boat driver, naturally, as it could have been really bad! But the guides were just like, well, that’s what happens when you don’t listen. I get it, but maybe have more guides helping with inexperienced? I don’t know. We weren’t experienced but we got the drift of it after a few minutes. I just feel something should be done so everyone could enjoy their time. The same kayakers had difficulty steering and keeping up with the group, eventually needing to be towed by a guide. Another kayak became lost twice, which resulted in multiple stops while the group waited. We ended up spending a significant portion of the tour waiting for others rather than enjoying the bioluminescence. My money felt wasted. Hopefully you have a better experience. The guides were friendly, but I feel the experience suffered because the group was not managed more effectively. What should have been a peaceful and memorable kayak tour became frustrating, and I left feeling like we missed out on a lot of the experience.
Ronnie was painfully goofy. The bio was good and stars were beautiful.
This was the highlight of our vacation! I was afraid to keep my kiddo out quite late, but he and I both absolutely loved the whole experience and it was WELL worth it. Would absolutely book again. Our guide, Terence and his team were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly—they made it so comfortable and fun.
The experience was excellent - I’ve never seen anything like it! The guides were very knowledgeable and did a great job at reading the group.
We had an AMAZING time with our guide Terrence. We did the 11pm tour and saw so much bioluminescence and learned a great deal about the history of the area. We caught comb jelly (and released them) and it was a beautiful setting. He took photos and videos for us for memories and it was a truly one of a kind experience. Would highly recommend and Terrence was awesome! Bugs were also not as bad as we thought, but we doused ourselves in spray and brought long pants and shirts. Recommend brining towels for after and bug spray for on the kayak. Phone camera do not do this experience justice. It’s out of this world!
It was just my mom and I on the tour and we had Javier who was wonderful! He was so sweet and funny. It was a full moon so the glowing wasn't as vibrant but it was still amazing to see! A few manatees swam near us and a shrimp jumped into our kayak! Such a cool experience and we loved it!
This bioluminescent kayaking experience was AMAZING!! Javier and Hope weren’t only experienced and knowledgeable but also fun and made it exciting and enjoyable especially for our groups being first time kayakers. Our High school seniors graduates had fun in spite of the mosquitoes. lol advice to potential kayakers TAKE LOTS OF BUG SPRAY! And anti itch cream for the following day.
We had so much fun! So so glad we came prepared- heavy duty bug spray to keep the swarming mosquitos away- it worked and we were fine. There are even portable potty’s at the launch area so we girls were fine.
There was only one guide for 9 people of which 6 had never been in a kayak. The active water way was seriously scary. A large travelling barge and shrimp boats everywhere. Lots of downed trees that could not be seen in the dark. These factors made it very uneasy. The other company had 5 guides with there group. Freedom made the best of what she had.
Wonderful experience. Freedom was a great guide. Be patient because there are a lot of people doing the same thing. Bring bug spray!
Really great experience! Terrence was very knowledgeable I would do this tour again during more of a peak season of the jellies!
Pictures on the website are completely deceiving. This is merely a nighttime kayak tour. The only bioluminescence we saw were the jellyfish he put in a jar for people to look at. Very disappointing. The guide was awesome though and very knowledgeable.
I was very disappointed when my Bioluminescence Kayak Tour was canceled on the same day due to high winds/weather. I do appreciate the safety concern but why should I have to still pay? I was not given an option but to accept a rain check. I was in the area for only two nights and neither night offered acceptable weather conditions. It seems pointless for me to travel, book a hotel plus expenses again in order to do the bioluminescent tour. Buyers beware.
Our tour guides were Terrence and Javier. They were excellent! Very informative and personable. We didn’t have to bring our cameras as they took pictures and videos of us for us. There was lots of history we saw a comb jellies , and horseshoe crabs. I would highly recommend this tour and would highly recommend Javier and Terrence. Thanks again! Josh,Kim ,Jen, and Taylor
Must see near Orlando! Bioluminescence Kayaking at night under a clear sky with an abundance of stars. It is in the middle of a preserve on the Indian River! Brian, our guide, was fun, friendly and full of knowledge. We saw lots of comb jellies and some phytoplankton. We had a view of the Kennedy space Center with Artimus ready for launch! It was so quiet and peaceful! We heard drum fish and saw night herron! No gators(thank you very much) If you have never done this, you definitely need to put it on your bucket list.
It was so relaxing, with the beautiful nature, and our guide Brian was so knowledgeable and answered all our questions. My son loved it.
Our guide Zoey was great. Really gave us great information and found spots that were once on in lifetime opportunity. We are fish jump into kayak and good information on where to come back to when it is more bright.
Such a peaceful experience. The guide was knowledgeable, gave us enough info but also gave us time to enjoy the trip. The comb jelly super cool. I was hoping for more but I know it Isa nature so you have to appreciate what you see! The other wildlife made the trip as well. The black drum sound was awesome. The night herrings flying by was spectacular. We also had a small dolphin swim by and surface just enough for us to see. I don’t think the other kayaks got to see it but my Juana’s and I were lucky for a quick glance. I highly recommend this tour. It was easy paddling and so enjoyable!
We had such a great time! Highly recommend! Brian, our guide was very experienced and did a great job leading the group and keeping us entertained!
Amazing experience with Brian/Bryan. Most memorable night of our visit and so so worth it. I would pick this activity over other tourist attractions in a heartbeat! We saw a gator, jumping fish, bioluminescent comb jellies, DOLPHINS, etc. Love love LOVE!
Terrance was an amazing guide. He informed us of the history of the area, was very patience with the beginners, and took amazing photos.
Super cool experience got to see the bioluminescence and got to see beautiful stars and comb jellies! Very friendly and easygoing guides and I would recommend to a friend. We went in October so it wasn’t too cold either but definitely got a little wet and definitely bring bug spray in preparation!
Such a unique experience. Definitely a must do. Our guides, Brian and Chris, were fun and knowledgeable. Thank you for a great kayaking excursion. The science explanations were very interesting!
This was so worth it. My party of 4 (Soul Sisters) annual vacation to FL was topped off with this tour. It was really fun to see the water glow and was a bonus to see it flowing directly beneath us. Terrence was a great tour guide and shared his knowledge with us. We enjoyed it so much, that we plan on going on the Manatee and Dolphin tour next year. Just pieces of advice: As much as I loved the Clear Kayak, you sit lower in it. It is more like a seatless canoe. not recommended if your short as I am (4'5") we had to use more arm power and stretch over more. Next time will be in a regular kayak as you sit a little higher. I would also add that you use deep woods bugs spray, We had just the reg bug spray and assuming with the water it was not very preventative.
Booked the bioluminescence late tour on a Thursday night. As it was late in the season, I was cautiously optimistic about how luminescent the waters would actually be or if we'd see anything at all. It was just my brother and I and Jeremiah, our tour guide. Fortunately it was a dark night and the temperature was perfect. Jeremiah was very knowledgeable about the whole area, including wildlife, trees, and, of course the focus - the waters. It was a great experience and the waters really did light up as we paddled and played with the luminescent creatures. Would highly recommend this tour. Unfortunately it wasn't bright enough for pictures with cell phones, but worth it.
We took a kayaking tour on the night of Saturday 09/06/25. Our tour guide was great. Very friendly, knowledgeable and bit of humor. Enjoyed our experience thoroughly. Be prepared for Mosquito attack.
Decided at the last moment to book this tour on the off chance the weather would would be good. Glad we did! Fun and relaxing trip on the water at night. Jeremiah was amazing and we truly enjoyed ourselves!
We, a family of 5, went on the bioluminescent kayak tour last night. You definitely feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. We were concerned that we weren’t in the right area because there wasn’t any sign of life for a while. Luckily when we got to the destination we finally saw others. We checked in and waited til it was time to go over the safety rules. We were glad we had bug spray because the mosquitos were awful. Once we got in the boats they barely bothered us. Our guide was great! I wish I remembered his name. He was informative and funny which is a great combo. We saw fish jumping out of the water. Lots of jelly fish. I even held one. And the bioluminescence was great! We were concerned because you couldn’t see it immediately but once we paddled out a little ways it really popped. We would definitely recommend doing this.
The Sunday we were supposed to go on the tour the weather was terrible and they worked with us to get it rescheduled for later in the week. We went Wednesday night, Brian was our tour guide, and he was fantastic. He knew a lot about the area and The environment. He also showed us cone jellyfish that were bioluminescent as well. It was a really great time and would recommend it to all.
Fantastic tour led by Freedom. Well organized, great equipment, safety focused, and extremely friendly. Freedom was focused on ensuring everyone's needs were met while delivering educational background of bioluminescence. This was 2nd tour with Florida Adventurer and would highly recommend.
Javier and JJ were amazing guides, very organized, knowledgeable about the bioluminescent plankton and jellies, and able to control the chaos of a large group of both young and inexperienced attendees. They successfully guided us to comb jellies and dinoflagellates. However, I would say both the size of the tour and the low age restrictions are detrimental to both guides and attendees. With so many kayaks out (12) it was hard to hear the guides instructions and information. Also, the young children were either frightened or overly excited causing lots of yelling and some crying. On top of that, people who say they have experience kayaking obviously did not, so smaller groups would be easier for guides to help those who needed it and let all enjoy the information given. I find it hard to recommend this trip because of you're an experienced kayaker it was frustrating and I would tell someone it would be easier to do it alone, and if you're inexperienced you should have more assistance. Again, Javier and JJ were amazing at handling what was booked for them.
Very informational and fun experience exploring Haulover Canal! Jeremiah even caught a blue crab for us to see and comb jellies that glow when you touch them.
Went out with Terrance and Chris and it was AWESOME!!! They were so knowledgeable and made it so much fun, highly recommend!!
Have to apply bug spray or wear long shirts and pants. Stars were amazing. We felt we would have preferred more paddling and less floating. View of cape on water was cool.
It was an amazing experience. The bioluminescent water and the clear sky made it feel magical. The tour guides did a great job in making sure everyone was safe, included, and explained the environment around us in the most detailed way possible. The only thing is that there was very little time to play with the water but everything else was perfect. 10/10 would recommend as it is not something you see everyday.
Our guide was Jeremiah who did an amazing job keeping us safely organized, educated and entertained. The Bioluminescence was really cool to see and the adventure was complimented by some great wild life experiences. The literal star of the show was the nights sky. Our tour started at 9:00 pm on a perfectly clear night. The remote location of this tour, away from light pollution, enables easy viewing of the Milky Way. Absolutely amazing! Come prepared to protect yourself from Mosquitoes. We wore long sleeve shirts and shorts and a few layers of repellent. Didn’t have any issues with bugs except for those that joined us in the car on the way back. Launching in the open top kayaks was very comfortable and Jeremiah did a great job supporting the kayaks to ensure we all launched safely. Bring towels and/or change of clothes as you will get wet from paddling. Be prepared for the dark and allow your eyes to adjust to getting around in the light of the stars.
