Our guide Javier was great. He was very knowledgeable and patient. I advise to bring along bug spray otherwise experience was great.

Itinerary
The Clear Kayak Florida Bioluminescence Tour in Titusville offers an experience you do not want to miss. See majestic sea creatures, gaze at the bright star-lit sky, and experience the wonder of bioluminescence. Florida is home to two types of bioluminescence, which varies from season to season. In the colder months, the Bioluminescent Comb-Jellyfish takes over our lagoons. These creatures have a unique ability to light up and glow from the water. On our tour, you will get a chance to hold them and watch them light up. Don’t worry though, these jellyfish don't sting! In the summer, the dinoflagellate plankton are present and turn the water into a bright neon blue. Every stroke from your paddle creates a beautiful ripple, neon effect. Watch fish swim underneath your clear kayak as they dart by like shooting stars. You might even see dolphins jump from the water, which looks like fireworks. The sight alone makes the Space Coast an incredible destination for some awe inspiring adventuring. Come join Florida-Adventurer and experience a sight that you’ll never forget. Please book in advance as this bioluminescence tour tends to book out two weeks ahead of time.

Our experience was amazing. The bioluminescence were great that night. Our guide was very knowledgeable in all aspects of the tour. We even got to seea baby alligator in the lagoon! I would recommend this company to anyone who wants to see the bioluminescence.
The adventure was great. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Learned about the biology, ecology, the stars and some good jokes! Netting bio eliminating jellies was great. Our GPS, though, took us the wrong kayak landing, so be careful. I highly recommend!!!!!
Terrance and Javier are most excellent tour guides, knowledgeable, fun, and helpful. If you take this tour I hope that they are your guides, the experience was vastly enriched by their knowledge and care.
Terrence and Javier are very knowledgeable and gave us a fantastic tour. I highly recommend this experience.
Unfortunately the weather didn’t allow us to go out on the water, not the end of the world, but they refused to refund us. They would only rebook at a later time but we are visitors from out of state so that seemed rather unfair. We drove over an hour to get to the location and waiting another hour there, just for them to say we cannot go out. Waste of time and money, make sure the weather is perfect before planning your trip.
There was no bioluminescence in the water. Apparently there isn’t any this time of year and they knew it. So we just kayaked in the dark. They sold us an experience that they knew we would not get. They sold us a higher price clear bottom boat that was much more uncomfortable with lower dysfunctional seats knowing there was nothing to see through it. They sent us to the wrong parking lot with no one there and no cell service. We had to leave it to find cell service and call to check on location or what was wrong.
Jeremiah was a great kayaking guide. He made sure we were safe and had fun. He shared lots of interesting facts, in an interactive way that kept us engaged. He even kayaked backwards so he could see us and we could hear him better! He passed out comb jellies for us to touch and showed us techniques for making them light up in the water. We had a great experience and would definitely go again.
The bioluminescence tour was AWESOME!! Our tour guide Jeff was very educational and super helpful with my family and I. We had the best time ever! Definitely recommend, thank you Jeff for a 10/10 tour.
Highly recommend. So amazing to see the bioluminescence. We had fish jumping in our kayaks and mar winked in briefly. Freedom and Hope were such great guides. Very informative and interesting. Loved it. Definitely would do again.
Jeremiah and Freedom did a fantastic job as tour guides. Knowledgeable, funny, and made sure we got to see some great bioluminescence. There was an issue with a truck on the Cocoa trip so Josh called me directly and he also informed me that visibility was better in Titusville at the time, so he asked if I wanted to rebook for the Titusville trip. I appreciated the clear and proactive communication.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bioluminescent Magic in Motion! (Casual) If you're looking for a surreal, bucket-list Florida experience, this is it. The clear kayaks allow you to see the glowing water beneath you with every paddle stroke — like trailing stardust. Beacon 42 is remote enough to offer dark skies (ideal for the glow), but still easy to find with GPS. Our guides were professional, informative, and made us feel completely safe — even if you're not an experienced kayaker. The bioluminescence was most visible when we disturbed the water — whether from paddling or even splashing your hand. It felt like being in a real-life Avatar scene. Tips: • Go on a new moon or as close to it as possible for peak glow. • Wear bug spray — this is still Florida. • Bring a towel and wear water shoes — your feet may get wet. A magical experience I’d recommend to locals and visitors alike! Great thanks to Terrence & Jeremiah!
Terrance was great told us in detail every part of our Kayak trip my wife and I and grandkids had a great time
Terrence was an excellent guide! He was very knowledgeable about the wild life and very thoughtful making sure we got to see the bioluminescence in the water, comb jellies, manatees and alligators! I love the fact that they are giving a portion back to the Merritt sanctuary!
My family planned our entire vacation based on the moon and the date that would be best to see the bioluminescence. We booked in March and vacationed in September. A few days prior Hurricane Helena hit (only a few days later another hurricane hit). On the evening of our tour it was thunder and lightening along with a down pour of rain. We had a party of 16 and half were under the age of 17. After unsuccessfully attempting to reach this company through the Viator app I found a cell number. I contacted the instructor when we got to the end of a bridge with flooding while in a mustang. I inquired about the reservations and he was beyond rude. He spoke down to me, yelling and accusing me of lying. He said to contact them the follow day regarding rescheduling (I had an entire week of vacation left). I was unable to do that as he continued to accuse me of lying and was EXTREMELY rude to another adult in our party. I requested a call from management but have not heard back to date
I was rained out told by Viator I would get a refund and then denied!! It was flooded and lightening out! How could we go or even enjoy ourselves?! Disappointed in the. Trip and Viator! Never again !! Do not do it! It’s not worth the money anyways
We had an amazing experience out on the water with our tour guide Emmett. He was extremely knowledgeable and very accommodating. He guided us wonderfully throughout the tour and was very patient considering my kayaking skills! There was no pressure and he made the tour extremely enjoyable. The only reason I do not give this tour 5 stars is due to a rearranged location at the last minute (after we had departed to drive to the location from Orlando) I found a missed call (due to having been driving) at a gas stop. When I returned the call I was made to feel like I had been in the wrong for not answering and it felt like I was inconveniencing them! Having said that, The location and tour did go ahead and was brilliant. I would not hesitate to book again.
Bioluminescence was a nice experience. Guides stayed out until midnight waiting out the rain so that our tour could run. Javier was a great tour guide, very personal and insightful about the wildlife.
There was a very bad storm with lightening. The road was flooded and we were unable to attend. We tried calling the number provided over and over and received no answer. Being 80% of our party were children we did not feel it was safe to attend. We turned around and continued to attmept calling. The man finally answered and refused to reschedule us or refund us. We lost over $1,000 as a result. He called our family liars and stated he does not refund for bad weather. I do not recommend this not only for the poor refund policy but the mistreatment from the owner.
We booked this tour over the phone to make sure we knew everything we needed for the tour and that the weather was going to cooperate. The guy seemed nice and knowledgeable. He gave us directions as to where to meet our guide (they don't have a physical address). I also got an email telling us where to meet our guide. We arrived on time to our location. As we were looking for our guide, we got a phone call telling us out location changed. He starting giving us directions to the new location at a rapid pace. We were so frazzled that we messed up the directions. I tried calling back and he did not answer. We finally found the location at 7:43 for an 8 pm tour. Nothing was clearly marked and the guide was no where to be found. We called the guy who had called us back and exchanged multiple calls. He finally said the guide must of left. We were confused, our tour was scheduled for it 8 pm and we arrived at 7:43. He said he sent an email about the change of location, but I never received that email (I even asked for proof of that email which he.could not provide). We were frustrated and sad that were not going on our tour. The guy on the phone was rude and not helpful. At first he said he could cancel/refund or reschedule. When we decided to take the refund, he refused. He was unprofessional and nasty and did not want to help in anyway. If he was kind and tried to help us in anyway, this could of been a much different situation. Luckily, BK adventures was on site (clearly marked) and made room for us on their 8 pm tour. The chaotic situation was solved quickly once BK assisted us. Don't book with Florida Advenuture use BK adventures!
OK so when we entered the park, there's more than one Kayak company that's on the sides until you get to the end, we didn't know which group was ours since there were multiple, so we had to ask each guide where our company was. That took longer than we expected. Then because alot of other people didn't know where it was we started almost a half hour late. That's not my issue. We are novice kayakers, and they never mentioned it was only 2 person kayaks, not single. I have gone down the Nantahala river and so has my girlfriend. So this particular day, there was about 10+ mph winds due to a storm that was forming. You could hear thunder and they said it was far enough out where it wouldn't affect us, well the wind kept picking up, as we started our journey with guide the waves were hitting the side of our Kayak we tried staying center but we tipped over, it was too deep where we couldn't touch the ground (im 6'1) so there was a assistant guide that said it was their first day, so he helped my girlfriend get out of the water and they both injured themselves, scraping against sand and mangrove roots, I didn't. So the guide ended up bringing us all out of the water and said it was canceled due to the wind. As we sat in our car changing clothes we noticed they left us and just went back out in those dangerous conditions. I don't know what happened after but the guide lied several times saying weather was fine and that it was canceled. With the risks involved, I think he wanted the money more than making sure people were safe, I'm sure owner will look up previous weather report and I want to see what you have to say, kayaking at night is dangerous, but unsafe weather conditions with novice kayakers is a risk they are OK taking because they make you sign forms to prevent them of their responsibility, so they can just do whatever they want. They didn't probly even make a report of what happened, because if they did they should've made sure we were OK by following up. Instead all we got was a thank you (processing payment). Safety comes second to money for this company.
Looking for more bioluminescence, but we did not go in peak season, had nothing to do with our tour guide Emmett, he was great! He was knowledge, kind, funny all the things you for in a guide. We'll be back in peak season and definetly recommend anytime of year
Our guide, Emmitt, was great! Despite not being able to see bioluminescent sights, he made the best of the situation and showed us wildlife (horseshoe crabs, fish, and tiny cone jellyfish).
Clint was very good at what he does, The Bioluminescense were outstanding! We loved the trip!! With Bug Spray on we didn't have issues out on the water, but on land the bugs were bothering us.
It was really amazing - beautiful clear night, so many stars and the bioluminescence was gorgeous. Our guides, Clint, Emmet, and Andrew were really nice, very helpful and provided a great experience.
The guides were knowledgable and fun. We saw lots of bio activity, got to see a rocket on the launch pad, tons of shooting stars, our group had great energy and our guides were awesome. I recommend the clear kayaks! Thank you Andrew, Clint & Nick!! See you again soon.
This is an excellent adventure for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to experience something different in Florida. The bioluminescent algae was bright and plentiful especially under the clear kayaks. The fish lit up the water as they swam from our paddle strokes. It was a clear dark night so the stars were incredible, our group saw 3 shooting stars. Our guides Nick and Clint were great, both were knowledgeable, professional and very helpful. This is a great tour group.
I just finished this tour last evening with my family (we were a party of 5 adults). The pros: Brian (our guide) was a very entertaining fellow, and he brought us to a spot where we could see luminescent waters and FISH literally jumping into some of the kayaks. They provided my whole party with sturdy two-seater kayaks, paddles, glow sticks, and life jackets with the necessary safety features. FYI: skip the clear kayaks; they are not worth the money or the work to paddle them. The other guides on the tour were also amiable and took safety seriously. I would have liked to have given it four stars, but here are a few cons: We got in the water 30 minutes late. We watched several other tours bring in larger groups than ours ahead of us, who all started on time. When we were finally allowed to enter the water, we were instructed to stay close together—very close. My husband and I are experienced kayakers, and not everyone else is. Fair enough. HOWEVER.... During most of the tour, our kayak was constantly getting rammed into, and I took a hit to the head with a paddle twice. We tried breaking away within a safe distance of the group but were told we had to stay very close, which meant more bumper car action.I almost felt like we were being treated like toddlers. Heading back, the water was a bit choppy and a few in our group were struggling to get back to the point that we offered to tow one of them in. The cons aside, my family really did enjoy this extraordinary experience. The view of the stars was spectacular. I'm a Space Coast local and would return to this area to kayak again, but I probably would go with a different company.
So many mosquitos. The group was too large. Seats on the clear bottom boats are very uncomfortable. The range in the level of experience among the group made for a long kayak. A lot of people didn’t know how to kayak which makes it pretty boring for more experienced kayakers because we had to keep stopping for other people in our group. Seeing the bioluminescence and animals was cool but not worth it because of all of the above.
It was honestly a phenomenal night. The bioluminescence in the water was so magical, felt like straight out of a fairytale. My friend and I also got lucky and was able to witness a rocket take off that night. Our tour guide was very informative and reassuring. It was a pleasure having him as our tour guide Overall it was great experience, would definitely would do this again.
Our trip was canceled due to the bad weather..we applied for a full refund but until today we have not received anything 😒
The Staff is unprofessional. I am not interested in a rain check from a company that operates this way.
Due the place the tour was being held there weren’t enough bars for my phone to receive their calls texts. The phone literally read SOS. They weren’t able to let me know their truck broke down and they needed me to meet at a secondary site. I’d arrived an hour early (7pm). I decided to leave 8:24pm at which point two texts came in that explained. By the time my phone was up enough that I could respond it was 8:36pm. which was when they let me know there was no one able to meet me anymore. Not their fault not mine. I’m out $85 though. Bummer.
I do not recommend A Day Away Kayak Tours. I booked the bioluminescent night kayak tour in January through another booking site for our March trip to Cocoa Beach. On the day of the tour I received a call at 5pm from Josh with A Day Away stating that the tour guide was stuck in traffic and would not make our 8pm tour. He asked if we minded going at a later time that evening or the next day. We chose to go at the same 8pm time the next day. On the following day, we ran into a wreck on the way to the site entering Titusville. The wreck covered both lanes and we were diverted by police to turn around. We noticed that they were at the point of sweeping the glass and decided to turn back around to see if they would let us pass as there is no other way to go around. At this point, it is 7:30 and we repeatedly tried calling the office to let someone know we would be running late. No one answered at the office and the voicemail stated to call the number from our confirmation. The only confirmation I received was from another booking site which did not contain that information. We pulled up to the location that was given to us from Google Maps and the booking site and it was a Napa Auto Parts on Forest Drive. At that point, the guide, Brian, called to see where we were. I explained that we followed the directions that were given to us from our booking. He stated that he didn't know where we were and that he'd "see us next time." He said he would put a note on our account for a refund, but to please call the office. We told him that we had been trying to call the office for 30 minutes several times, but no answer. He said, "keep trying" and let me go. I called the office as soon as I hung up with Brian. Josh immediately answered clearly angry. I told him what had happened and he challenged me the entire conversation. He told me that they do not refund. He offered a voucher to use any time, but I told him that I live over 700 miles away and would most likely not be returning. He said, "Well, I don't know what you want to do then." I said that I would need to dispute the charge with Booking site. He said, "Fine. We'll fight it!" and hung up on me. I did dispute it with booking site and A Day Away lied to them saying that we were a no call no show and stated that I received a confirmation from Viator! I never received a second confirmation from them directly, only the booking site. So, we didn't receive the service we paid $160 for and it was because their guide was stuck in traffic the day before. We offered them grace for that and remained flexible with them, but they could not do that for us? They must really need the $160. I never received a separate confirmation. They are the ones that had to reschedule. The Google Maps directions (screenshot of where it took us attached) were incorrect. And I'm met with unprofessional behavior? The name that comes up when you select directions from our booking came up with another name, so also beware of BK Adventures. It didn't take us long to see the terrible reviews from Google, Yelp, etc. for me to realize that I should have read more reviews before booking. Lesson learned. Please learn from me and read some of the other reviews and book with another outfit They are wild. Lastly, if you are looking to book a bioluminescent tour, be sure to check the seasons. I also didn't realize March is not peak season, so there was a high chance we wouldn't have seen anything anyway. Again, lesson learned. Don't book with this company. I organize trips for a living and this company is beyond unprofessional. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere otherwise you might have a birthday surprise ruined like we did.
Katy , Excelent , Excellent, Excellent. The most pleasant Tour with her!! Great personality… perfect for your!
It is a very interesting tour. Best thing for me was the highly interesting science behind the phenomenon of the bioluminescence and other beings in the water and the ecosystem at the lagoon. Katie, our guide, was very knowledgeable!! She made the tour such a learning experience, which it was cool! Only bad part is that we stayed on the water just an hour out of the hour and a half that we booked.
We ended up being the only people on our tour. It was a beautiful night and we were able to hear dolphins and manatees all around us. Clint was our guide and he was fantastic. Would definitely do this again!
It was a beautiful experience that we had viewing the bioluminescence! The tour guide Clint was super kind and amazing!
I’m rating this tour a 2 for two reasons. First, there was no bioluminescence to be seen on Sept 23! I’ve done this trip before and it can be spectacular. The Beacon 42 kayak tour leaders should have told us that the season was over, but they took our $75 / person anyway. Second our guide was a disappointment. Many of us couldn’t hear her and when we could hear she wasn’t able to talk seriously and clearly about the wildlife. On the positive side, just being out on the water at night and seeing stars was great!
The bioluminescent was definitely something different and cool to experience. When I initially booked and paid through this app I was charged an additional $9 international transaction fee from my bank because this app is based in London not the United States as portrayed. This was NOT disclosed at the time of purchase. The tour guides seemed a bit disorganized, it took forever to get people checked in, they had no cell service and had to walk around with phones raised high to try and see a roster for the tour. This should have been downloaded ahead of time. We booked the 11pm tour and we were 30 mins late getting into the water. The clear kayaks were the most uncomfortable kayak I have ever experienced. Although it was cool to see the bioluminescent through the boat we found them to be very uncomfortable, fairly easy to paddle but we felt we were sitting way too low. Our tour guide talked too much, we didn't have a lot of time to paddle around and experience other creatures. It was expressed by the tour guide they really needed good reviews because they get a pay bonus and she was poor. She also pushed for tips. The tour leaving late meant returning late. We did get our 90 minutes but it was mostly spent floating and listening to our guide talk. We did not get back to the hotel until 2am after showers we did not get to bed until 3am.
We did the clear kayak bioluminescence tour with Brian and Clint last night and it was just amazing. My husband and I took our 21-YO twins and we were all just amazed with this excursion. Brian said this was near the end of the season for the bioluminescence, however, we thought it was on full display with lots of active fish jumping out of the water. It was very buggy out but this is just unavoidable since the season for the protozoa is June-Sept/Oct. Be sure to pick an evening not near the full moon for the best experience.
The night was absolutely amazing! We took the 11pm tour and my friend and I were the only one scheduled for that time. We ended up having a private tour with our guide. Talking about our guide, Brian: the absolutely best! He is so sweet and made our experience 100% better! I’m planning to go back with my family this time and I will request our tour to be with him; i would advise anyone to do the same!
The overall experience of witnessing the bioluminescent algae was awesome. Being able to see the waves lighting up, and each splash did the same. We were able to see the water glow up like it had blue glitter mixed in. We could put our hands in the water, and see our hands glowing once we removed it from water. Witnessing this was fabulous. The bad and ugly matter though. I didn't see anywhere that Tandem kayaking was required when booking this for my family. I was under the impression that my husband would be required to tandem with our 11 year old, my 15 year old would have his own, and I would have my own. It was ONLY tandem kayaking. We learned very quickly that our family is not meant for tandem kayaking, even with the fact that all 4 of us have individual kayaking experience. The website stated we didn't need any experience, and I would like to say this is not for people with zero experience in kayaking or even tandem kayaking. The water was choppy and with minimal tandem kayaking experience, my oldest and I often found ourselves turning in circles, going far away from the group, running into other kayakers, etc. Katie, who was leading our group was extremely knowledgeable about our surroundings and stopped in multiple places to give us a scientific/historical lesson of everything we were seeing. This was cool to hear about, however, the booking also didn't make it seem like we would be spending 20 minutes holding onto a branch to learn about trees. My impression was that our time would be spent freely kayaking, maybe even brought to an island where we would be able to get out of the kayaks and swim or splash around. We also were not told that the water we were in was only about 4 feet deep. At the beginning of the tour, our guide was almost knocked out of her kayak by a manatee. This instilled panic in my entire family, as we were then worried about tipping and ending up in deep water. We also weren't told that that there was a chance of being tipped by manatees at all. The water was choppy and it was hard to maintain the same speed as the rest of the group. We were told at the beginning that our "end" tour guide, Alora, would always be behind us and that the group was "only as fast as our slowest kayaker". Both myself, oldest, and my husband and our youngest often were behind Alora. This did not ensure that Alora was keeping an eye on all kayakers, which we were told she was doing. Being able to witness the water lighting up was awesome, but the entire experience was more stressful than the booking would have led you to believe. We would not recommend for anyone who doesn't have experience in kayaking in general, or no experience in tandem kayaking. We would not recommend this to anyone who expects to just kayak, swim, or touch the water. There were 2-3 times where the guide stopped the tour to talk and it became overwhelming and was hard to concentrate on what she was saying when we were constantly paddling to stay in the group, not run into each other, or constantly turn around. If you plan on taking pictures and video, bring a camera that actually has night vision. You won't capture the beauty on your phone at all. Very disappointing to find that out the hard way. We would not repeat. in the hour and a half of the kayaking tour, we spent probably only 20 of it in a good mood. We were able to see a dolphin swim by, fish zipping around under water, and the water light up as we kayaked around.
It was so fun and so beautiful! Katie (Katy?) was so fun! She had so much cool information she was able to share with us!
Guide was very informative and biolum was beautiful! But they need to be more aware of the kayaking skill level of the group. That was my first time kayaking (and leading) and I got no pointers or help other than how to hold the paddle and be in sync. Made it difficult to appreciate the first part of the tour, until the panic subsided. And I felt like the kayaking part was rushed. We were paddling too quickly to be able to really enjoy what we were seeing. Aside from the bio, the night sky was beautiful and I felt like we were not given enough time to enjoy any of it. We were jetting off to the next stop instead of enjoying the moment. And the lecturing was non-stop, informative, but non-stop. I also felt like the final message of the tour was confusing. Like we should appreciate this special ecosystem and all its’ sparkly glory - but we’re also stressing it out AND part of the problem? Weird. Made me not want to go again AND made me feel guilty for being there.
Our guide was Brian, he was great. We had a great time. I would recommend it for everyone who loves nature. We saw the water light up throughout and fishes jumping in and out, clear sky with all the stars. I don't recommend if you're scared of going out in the ocean at night. You would also need some amount of stamina for paddling.
My husband and I went on the clear kayak tour last night at 8:30 pm on a 3/4 full moon and it was an absolutely amazing experience. The glowing blue light was so bright and stunning, every second I was in awe. It was literally one of the best things I’ve ever done and I can’t wait to bring everyone I love here!! I’m already dying to come again lol! We loved Katie’s energy so much and felt so grateful she was our guide! She shared so much amazing information about the science behind the bioluminescence all around us that made it feel even more surreal and special! She also taught us a lot about the nature and history of the surrounding area. It was really cool to learn from her! Thank you Katie!! We felt super safe with her and loved that Florida Adventurer has smaller group sizes. Watching the bioluminescence light up all the fish around us and sparkling under the clear kayak was especially incredible. This is such a beautiful majestic place and an experience you don’t wanna miss definitely head there asap!!
Got denied clear kayaks, instead they offered regular kayaks, which is available for much less. Further, they won’t refund, they’re giving me a rain check. I live in India, would definitely take the 20 hour flight back just for the rain check 🤦♂️ BE ADVISED GUYS
This was an incredible experience! Truly one of the most magnificent things I've seen--certainly my favorite on this trip. Forget Disneyland, go feel like real-life Moana. We saw tons of little fish zipping around, a shark, and tons and tons of gorgeous, bright blue algae. I thought the pictures and photos used to advertise the experience were exaggerating--in fact, they don't do it justice. Our tour guide Patrick was funny, friendly, gave great explanations, and made us feel like part of the family. Things to know: -If you're particularly bad at kayaking, you might get left behind. Usually there will be 2 tour guides--one at the front and one at the back. If numbers don't work out, you might be in a smaller group with just one guide at the front. If you're teamed up with the funniest person you've ever met in your life, who also sucks at kayaking, you will likely get distracted, turn in circles, fall behind, and get lost. Due to absolutely no fault of our wonderful tour guide Patrick (I'm naming my firstborn after you, ily Patrick) we got completely lost and got adopted by a 2nd group (whom we also couldn't keep up with, incidentally). Even so, we never felt unsafe. The waters were still and calm, and we found our way back to the shore when it was time. -The insects that sit around and bite at you on the shore before the tour are otherworldly. They're really small, like so small you can hardly see them. They gather at your ankles, and they itch like you wouldn't believe. Think a combination of fleas and mosquitoes but brimming with the fiery hatred of Satan. The bug spray definitely helped, but we put it on thicc. I recommend putting it on literally as soon as you step out of the car. -We debated a lot whether to take the 8:45pm tour when it would still be a little light out, or the 11pm tour, when it would be completely dark. We ultimately picked the 8:45, which I liked because it was a lot less scary to go out with a little light than to venture out onto open waters in the black of night. I'm like, terrified of the ocean at night. The light didn't impact our ability to see the algae at all, so if you're not into staying out late, don't be afraid to pick the 8:45. There's also a lot of info about the brightness of the moon, and I suspect that it wouldn't actually make that big of a difference. The algae when we went (late July) was really, really bright. Seriously, go do this! It was worth the flight out to Orlando alone. Be prepared to have a fun, informative, silly, spiritual experience.
Zack led our trip along with Dan & Sam. Zack was very knowledgeable about the lagoon & wildlife. We took our family, 5 adults, on the tip & were absolutely amazed as we watched the blue glow of darting fish, a small stingray & some crabs. The bioluminescence tour is an awesome experience! Bring mosquito repellant & towels for the ride home.
