Egmont Key Snorkeling Dolphin Tour

We will not book with this to our company again. SEE PICTURES FOR THE WEATHER. WE WERE EXPECTED TO GET ON A BOAT AND GO SNORKELING IN. We booked for a 9:00 AM tour and knew that it might need to be rebooked because the weather was bad. However, the tour guy told us that we needed to rebook because we were the only two people on the tour. We asked if there were other times available that day and waited almost 2 hours before they said that we could go at 1:00 PM At that time the weather was still not good and so we told them that we had made other plans and asked if we could cancel and get a refund. They said they were going out anyway, but the weather was rainy and the ocean was choppy from 1 to 3 PM. We asked again if we could get a refund never heard back from them. The communication and customer service with this company is unprofessional. We do not recommend at all.

Kevin was so awesome the place he took us was sooo beautiful. Saw dolphins manatees. Super friendly and helpful with my daughter.

We recently rented two boats with Captains Tim and Kevin for a large family group trip to Egmont Key for a snorkeling tour, and it was one of the best experiences we’ve had in Florida! From the very beginning, the booking process was smooth and the captains were incredibly accommodating. They tailored the entire day to our big group—making sure everyone had plenty of space, adjusting the itinerary to keep the kids engaged, and providing clear safety instructions without being overly strict. The boats were clean, well-equipped, and comfortable, which made a huge difference with so many of us on board. The snorkeling at Egmont Key was absolutely amazing. Captain Tim and Kevin knew all the best spots and shared fun facts that kept everyone excited. What really stood out was how kid-friendly the whole trip was—our children had a blast jumping in the water, spotting fish, and exploring the island. The captains had so much patience and made sure the slower-paced explorers and the energetic kids all had a great time.

5 stars – Absolutely fantastic experience! We had the best time on our Charter Finders trip in Florida. The weather was perfect, we saw tons of dolphins playing in the water, and we spent time exploring beautiful Shell Key. The captain was awesome — knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure everyone had a great time. Everything from start to finish was smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable day on the water! We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area.

It was a beautiful day for a boat ride. We saw some dolphins and Kevin was great at slowing down so we could see them up close. It was so hot, we did not go exploring on Egmont Key per se but loved just hanging out in the clear water around it.

Honestly, this felt like a DIY snorkeling boat tour. We weren’t able to go to Egmont Key because of the wind, which was disappointing but understandable. The tour guide took us to a different location instead, and the water for snorkeling was waist deep and totally cloudy. He also didn’t have flippers for snorkeling on the boat, or enough snorkels and masks for everyone. It wasn’t a great experience. I wouldn’t recommend anyone spend their money for this.

It was fantastic—we had so much fun, and the captain was very kind! He was very patient with us while we looked for dolphins 🥰🥰. He played music for us, and it was a blast!! We loved this tour and have to come back here!!! Highly recommended—a million times over 👍👍

Captain Troy was knowledgeable, friendly and willing to make our trip memorable.

The coordination with Viator and the captain of the ship was not great. He did not know our reservation existed and could not find it so we ended up leaving an hour and a half later than scheduled and did not get the full tour in. We did not go to Egmont only to Shell Island

We went as a small group to celebrate my adult son's birthday. Had a great time! Captain John was very knowledgeable, paid attention to safety and the weather, took great care of us! This is the 3rd trip we've done with Charter Finders, and it's always been a good experience.

We had an amazing time snorkeling at Shell Island and visiting the ruins with Captain John! We found lots of great, big shells and Capt John even found us some dolphins to jump in the wake of our boat! 10/10 would go again!

Nice experience & day. Kids enjoyed snorkeling even though visibility wasn’t the best. On the way back, got to see dolphins, captain slowed down and circled them for better photo opportunities. Nice little day! Definitely pack sunscreen, water & snacks.

It was a great day out on the water! We got to see dolphins play in the boat’s wake and we saw a manatee while snorkeling. The captain was knowledgeable and got us to some great snorkeling spots

Excellent journey out in the boat. Smooth ride. Marvelous time on the Island Very quiet place to enjoy couple time.

Although our guide was great we didn’t get to go to edmont because of rough waters. We saw no dolphins or turtles and there was no snorkeling. We basically paid to go to a different beach to go shelling. Which although fun, was not worth the money.

The boat ride was fun but I was a little disappointed because I paid for the Dolphin Snorkeling trip and we did not do any snorkeling. Didn’t see any dolphins but our tour guide said it could possibly be because of the weather.

10/10! The trip to Egmont Key was fantastic—After another company canceled our reservation last minute, the owner of Charter Finders stepped in and was incredibly accommodating. We saw two dolphins, found a starfish, and discovered some of the largest shells we’ve ever seen! Hunter, our captain, was great and made the trip really enjoyable. Hunter pointed out interesting things, landmarks, homes, and boats, along the way and entertained us with stories. If you want a more personalized trip, book this instead of a "ferry" tour . . . you'll be glad you did!

I learned so much about dolphins! And we got to see the new babies and they knew the names of the dolphins we were following! Such a great time!

Excellent! Captain Elija was wonderful, and we had such a great time at all the stops! Yes, there was more than just Egmont. Even got to see dolphins. Highly recommend!

Captain Elijah was amazing. We had the best time and this was hands down the best cruise we have taken in pinellas county thus far! When we book this again, we definitely want Captain Elijah on our tour!! He knew lots of information about the islands, nature, and wildlife. 10/10 experience, definitely recommend!

WARNING: The tour itself and Captain Elijah were absolutely fantastic. Be sure to book directly through the charter company and not Viator however! Viator sold us three spots on a boat that was already full (Viator was supposed to block it off but didn’t, which the owner told us they do to him all the time). Thankfully the owner was super accommodating and went out of his way to book us on a different day, but we will never book direct with Viator again- will go to the tour provider directly!

The views were spectacular. The islands Thad took us to was beautiful. Found some amazing shells and met some really nice people. Thad was a great captain.

This trip was amazin! Me and my mom had Captain Craig with us and he made this trip very memorable. We went all over the gulf and saw many dolphins and even had a few ride with us next to the boat. Great time!

It was a great way to spend 4 hours. Chris was a good host and captain. Not a trip for individuals with mobility issues...getting on and off the boat is down / up short narrow ladder. Valet parking is $20 not $15

Excellent trip! Great for families looking for a personalized experience with more flexibility that’s the larger tour boats offer. Captain Chris was great! Highly recommend.

Overall, a great outing on a pretty good weather day. Saw some dolphins and enjoyed some time in the warm waters snorkeling. The gear and snacks on board were nice.

I was in the area for spring break with my teen daughter and her friends. I found this tour the night before and I am so glad I did!! It was a wonderful experience and Captain Brian was excellent! He was friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife and the area. An absolutely fantastic afternoon zipping around the Gulf and exploring Egmont Key.

Great snorkeling trip!! Was a last minute decision to go. Got right in. The staff were so friendly and helped with every aspect. Answered questions. Really cares about their customers that you’ll have a good time.

Boating, beaching, wildlife, snorkeling, learning all in one tour! Captain Brian was fabulous. He had such an eye to catch the wildlife; we saw dolphins, manatees, eagle rays, and jelly fish. Egmont key was small enough to leisurely walk. It was our first time snorkeling in FL. You could go as shallow or deep as you wanted. If you like boat rides then this is for you too since the ride out to the island is about 40mins depending on waves. Highly recommend! Brian gave us a ton of local attraction ideas too

Capt Brian was awesome! Even if we didn't see dolphins, manatees and a sea turtle (!), the boat ride and spending time at Egmont Key was worth it. Although he was on a schedule, when we were leaving to go back, he took the time to investigate the darkness he saw in the water and sure enough, there were 2 manatees right where we were swimming! He was friendly and knowledgeable and answered all our questions about marine life, the area, boating and fishing. I will schedule another outing with him and highly recommend you do the same!

Was so much fun! Brian was a fantastic tour guide, he was fun, very knowledgeable and great music taste! Will be recommending to friends traveling to Florida.

We’ve been on bigger, more commercial boats, but this was a MUCH better option! It was perfect for our family of 5 and a much better, less rushed experience! Captain John took us to great spots for shells and we tried for some dolphins too. I would highly recommend!!

It was a rocky start with Trip Advisor booking not processing booking with the actual boat charter company, but Tim and Heidi with CharterFinders made the trip enjoyable once we were on the water. Heidi was a great boat captain! Great fun! We had plenty of time to enjoy the water and take in the sights.

Captain Brian was polite and professional. Enjoyed Egmont, but water quality was poor for snorkeling, so he took us to a better location where we had a memorable time snorkeling and finding shells and sea urchins. Dolphins were scarce, but he used his connections to locate a group of them. By continuing to position the boat, Brian afforded us ample opportunity to watch and photograph the dolphins. Can't speak for other captains, but I sure am glad I didn't get that "Captain Ron" guy. LOL The only negative was parking. Would prefer to have the valet parking that was required added to the cost of our tickets and then have it validated instead of digging for a credit card as cash was not accepted. Didn't see any warning about this issue prior to arriving.

We seen a lot of dolphins, toured an abandoned military island where tortoises roam and then went snorkeling at shell island… the captain was very informative and friendly I’d highly recommend this to anyone visiting the Tampa area.

Very enjoyable excursion! The boat ride was very fun! We did see dolphins a couple times. We enjoyed swimming at Egmont Key. Snorkeling....not so much! If you are thinking this will be similar to snorkeling in the Caribbean, forget it! Water is too murky to see much at all. All we saw was one stripped fish and my husband brought up two sea urchins that were very cool to see. I thought the description said we would get history information about the island...not! Only info we got was to the questions we asked. Also thought it said there was a guided tour of the island...not! We did not care about either of those as we were there for the water, but if you want those things, hopefully you get a different guide.

Captain Brian was awesome. We had our elderly mother with us and he was very gracious in helping her get in and out of the boat. We saw dolphins and manatees. Collected many shells. Great family fun.

For the people who haven’t snorkeled before, it was a cool experience and our captain Brian made sure we had the clearest water we could and had a good time.

Our favorite day with a 5 and 8 year old was this charter! We were allowed to bring our own snacks and cooler and did the morning tour. The boat was fast and it felt like we had the ocean to ourselves! Captain John took us to a vacant island for snorkeling and shelling so it felt like we had to world to ourselves!! Dolphin and manatee seen. Will book again!

Very nice tour, saw a lot of wildlife including dolphins, sea urchins, hermit crabs, fish, and a seahorse. Very nice tour of the Island, tour guide took pictures for us and was very knowledgeable.

Captain Brian was amazing we saw so many dolphins. He tried to get them to play behind the boat. We saw a manatee while snorkeling the island and so many cool fish and shells. So worth it! would do it again if we had time :)
