Itinerary
We will meet at the "P" parking sign in "Piazza della Calza" by Porta Romana, near "San Giovanni Battista della Calza" at 9:45am, ready for a 10:00am start. This tour is perfect for those on holiday who wish to sleep in a bit longer in the morning but still want to enjoy a full day exploring the beauty of Tuscany. Upon arrival, you'll meet your expert guide, easily recognizable by their purple T-shirt. After brief introductions, your guide will whisk you away to the first stop of the day: a charming winery in the heart of the Chianti region. The drive to the winery will take about an hour, during which your guide will outline the day's itinerary and share fascinating insights about Tuscany’s history, culture, and landscapes. As you relax and take in the scenic drive enjoy the rolling hills, dotted with vineyards and olive groves. Your guide's engaging stories and knowledge will enhance your appreciation of the region, making the drive both informative and enjoyable.
Drive through Tuscany which is a picturesque region renowned for its beautiful landscapes, breathtaking views of rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, and cypress trees, charming villages, and, most famously, its wine.
Reach the first winery of the day located in the charming village of Ulignano near San Gimignano, Tuscany. This family-run estate offers a welcoming atmosphere where visitors can enjoy guided wine tastings and have the opportunity to sample a variety of wines, including Chianti, Super Tuscans, and Vernaccia di San Gimignano, paired with local delicacies.
Reach the second winery just 5 km to San Gimignano. The estate's scenic location offers stunning views of the Tuscan landscape, making it a memorable destination for wine enthusiasts and travelers seeking an authentic Tuscan experience. After visiting the cellars , here you will be able to taste 3 different types of wines including Vernaccia, Chianti Colli Senesi and a lovely rosé.
San Gimignano, often referred to as the "Medieval Manhattan," is a small, enchanting town in Tuscany, renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture and impressive skyline of ancient towers. The town is famous for its historical significance, with notable landmarks such as the Piazza del Duomo, the Collegiata (a Romanesque cathedral), and the Torre Grossa, the tallest tower offering panoramic views. Visitors can wander through its narrow cobblestone streets, explore artisan shops, and enjoy local specialties like saffron.
After departing from San Gimignano, the journey back to Florence will take approximately an hour. You'll be dropped off at the starting point, with a camera full of photos and a host of new friends. Back to Florence at 5:00 pm

Francesco was an amazing tour guide during our wine tour. He provided us with lots of insight and knowledge into the Chianti region during our drive to the wineries and answered all of our questions. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to explore Tuscany and a few different wineries in the region.
Francesco was amazing! My girlfriend and I loved the tour. Both wineries were lovely but what made this tour so good was Francesco’s company, knowledge and insights. It was a special day. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a Tuscany wine tour. 10/10.
It was exactly what we were looking for. The two wineries were lovely and they were more than enough. The time spent at each location was perfect. The stop in San Gimignano was wonderful.
This tour was fantastic. Our driver was very knowledgeable and kept us informed of everything we were doing and why we were doing it. We went to two different wineries and a medieval city. We were grouped with another family and we had a fantastic time
This is the first time I've been disappointed with a Viator excursion and I've used them many times. 8 people were crammed into a mini-van for the day-long trip. I've been on many vineyard trips in Tuscany, the two that we were taken to on this excursion didn't come close to measuring up. The vineyards weren't pretty (unlike the others I've been to), they were in areas that seemed more downtrodden. We met some very nice people during this event, but I wouldn't do it again. Disappointed in Viator on this one.
We had such a great time. Very friendly and knowledgeable operators (from the driver to wine operators). Enjoyed all wine from both vineyards. We even had one in our group that doesn't drink wine and he enjoyed. Would highly recommend.
Great tour. Francisco was great. Two wineries were perfect and loved the time to explore San Gimignano.
We had a great time on this trip. Wine was great ordered and shipped straight to my house. Perfect. We went to San gimignano and it was amazing. Best pizza I've had and great shopping. Our guide Frances was very personable and friendly. Explained places along the way and was a safe driver. Thank you so much for this trip
Our van driver Francesco was so enthusiastic and well-informed and he made us feel like family and was always available. The people in our group were lovely, fun and friendly. The wineries were excellent- just a joy to taste the wines in such beautiful surroundings. San Gimignano is a unique place, and the talk our guide gave us really put it in perspective.
It was an easy ride to the wineries and the driver was excellent at explaining the sites as we went along! The wineries where great at the way they treated us and taught us about wine making!
What a great day! Our tour guide Francesco was awesome, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The small group in the van was very nice and friendly. The two wineries we visited were typical of the Tuscan region and were in stunning locations. San Gimignano, a scenic medieval walled town with legendary towers, was very interesting, especially so since Francesco had primed us on its history. (He even called cabs for us when we returned to Florence!)
Jean Francois was the perfect guide! Florence born (French mother), he was personable, knowledgeable, and authentic. The wineries we visited—one large and one small—had delightful staff and the perfect selections of wines. Our group included three couples and by the end of the first tasting we felt like fast friends. This experience cannot be overrated!!!! Our last two hours in San Gimignano was storybook.
Great trip! Everything went smoothly and was enjoyable. Got Tonya’s some great wines and olive oils as well as see another town we would not have originally seen! Valentina was fantastic! Very knowledgeable of the area and a great driver.
Valentina was informative and friendly. The wines were enjoyable and the scenery was breathtaking.
Valentina is awesome guide with passion! It’s a nice trip with vineyards and San gimignano
It was a great stress free experience! Our guide was informative and helpful. The views and wine were amazing! Definitely recommend!
Luigi was the best driver ever!
Great experience!! Luigi was the best
Overall, a great experience. I went with my boyfriend. Pickup point was easy to get to from our hotel in Piazza della Signoria. Francis, our driver, was very nice. Our favorite was the first family owned spot, gorgeous views and delicious wine and olive oil. The second place was very commercial and we sat inside so felt like back in the US. We expected only charcuterie for lunch and they gave us a very delicious lasagna in addition. Family owner there was a salesman. The stop at San Gimignano was a beautiful break from busy Italian cities. Still would recommend this small group tour (we only had 6 people book) for the experience. So fun!
Francis was the best! He was full of knowledge about everywhere we went and he made you feel like family
Terrific time in Tuscany! Two wineries and one medieval town.
Great tour with Ned! He knew a lot of history and was very easy to talk to. He took pictures for our group and brought us to two beautiful wineries and an historic village. I would highly recommend it!
Valentina was wonderful! So knowledgeable and accommodating. This was an amazing tour. Beautiful country, history and wine. What more could you ask for?
We had a great tour, Valentine and Irene were our guides and they were fantastic! Both vineyards were beautiful, great wine and a lovely stop off at San Gimignano on the way home. 10/10 day!
We visited two wineries in the Tuscan countryside with different personalities. We tasted a total of seven wines between the wineries. The views from one of wineries were spectacular. Lots of great photos. Each winery had an owner who presented alot of information about the wines and regions. We also stopped at San Gimagano which is super cute Tuscan hill town. Our driver Alex was also great. The reason I am giving the tour four stars and not five stars is because the van is too small for the number of people on the tour. I ended up sitting in the middle of the front seat wedged in between the driver and my spouse. All other seats in the van were taken. I am short and my knee was tight against the dash board. You are in the van for more than two hours so I would expect it to be more comfortable.
Pros: in the Tuscan countryside, nice wineries, food was decent (we are vegetarian) at the first location, knowledgeable presentations by winery owners/operators, views at the second location, San Gimignano was beautiful and not overly crowded on October 12th. Cons: the minivan was crammed with people. My spouse and I ended up being squished into front seat with the driver. My spouse sat in the middle because she was able to better tolerate the twisted position , her internal organs being repositioned and having her knee pressed into the console. It was NOT comfortable as was advertised.
Great guide for fun group! Would highly recommend.
A lovely day with a very nice guide named Alessandro. Loved the local winery and beautiful views. Their wine was delicious! But only food was little pieces of bread with olive oil. The larger winery had some good but not what I would call lunch. Wine was just ok and a little pricey. Loved having 90 minutes to explore San gimignano- beautiful and fun place to spend the afternoon!!
Excellent, great tour and guide was very informative and helpful!
Jean Fran Cois was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and great delivery. Learned so much both in the van and on the ground!
John Francois did a great job guiding us! Vineyards were wonderful and the views spectacular!
First winery was great! Good wine and good food, host very informative, knowledgeable, and personable. Second winery, smaller family winery, had great views. Wine and its presentation was subpar. Stop at San Gimignano was fun, a little longer stay would be better
Amazing day. Breathtaking scenery, great wine, wonderful wander through a medieval town. Tour guide was warm and welcoming. Absolutely hit.
Amazing day with some of the best wines!
Our day trip through the Tuscan Countryside with Ema (Emanuel) was fabulous. 100% recommend this day trip
This was a fantastic tour and great value for everything you get. The 2 wineries were awesome and Ned was a fantastic guide. Highly recommend to anyone looking to try some wines on a Tuscany tour!
Ned was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable with a good sense of humor. The first winery had the best wine ever. The second winery had picturesque views of Tuscany!
Great tour. Loved both wineries. The tour of the small town was cute but longer than it needed to be - 90 minutes. There was a decent amount of tastings at the first winery. Only 3 at the second one but they offered a wine club that we joined. We were at the back of a van, so didn’t live that. Took a tour a few years ago where we were the only ones and that had some advantages but clearly more expensive.
We had a lovely time on our trip today! Francesco was a great tour guide, and the wineries were beautiful.
Ema (short for Emanuelle) was amazing! So informative, kind and funny! We've tasted amazing wines, took a lot of pictures and had fabulous time! Can recommend!
It was a wonderful day. Our driver Francesco was awesome.
Ema was a wonderful guide! We went to two wineries, both served light food. Scenery was fabulous! Then we had a few hours in San Gimignano which was a delight! Perfect day in the Tuscan countryside. Would definitely recommend!
Ema was the perfect guide! He was funny, knowledgeable, and great at communicating!
Such a fun experience! Our tour guide, Valentina, was very knowledgeable, the wine and snacks were tasty, and San Gimignano was the perfect end to the tour.
Francesco did a nice job sharing knowledge of the area. The wineries were beautiful and the wine delicious. Happy we made the choice to do this!
Antinello (Tony) was a fabulous tour guide! We enjoyed the scenic view from Florence to Tuscany! Highly recommend!!!
Ned was awesome! Tremendous trip and experience!
The tour was fantastic. Our guide, Ned, was so great and made our experience unforgettable. We would recommend this to anyone wanting a memorable experience!
