Eduardo, our tour guide was the best!! He made the history of the Medicis interesting and actually entertaining. We learned and saw so much on this tour- highly recommended!!
I had an incredible time on the History of Florence: Famous Medici Family & sprinkles of the local artisans I wanted to see with Martina through Withlocals. From the start, Martina was professional and friendly, creating a relaxed atmosphere while sharing her vast knowledge. She expertly tailored the tour to match my interests, which made the experience even more personal and engaging. Martina brought the story of Florence and the Medici family to life, diving deep into the history, culture, architecture, and daily life of the time. I learned so much and had a fantastic time doing it. I highly recommend Martina for anyone looking for an unforgettable tour in Florence!
We had an absolutely brilliant tour of Florence, focusing on the history and role of the Medici family with Federica. Federica is everything you would want from a tour guide, knowledgeable, kind, patient, pragmatic and fun. The Medici tour had a tremendous structure and was very informative and Federica brought insights and knowledge that you would not get from a guide book. The whole experience was faultless and we thought we got excellent value from the tour.
Laura is extremely knowledgeable, full of fascinating stories about the historic families of Florence. It wasn't our first time in Florence and we've read guide books, but Laura was able to tell us much more, and more interesting things than dry facts. She is very personable and it was a pleasure to spend the time with her; we highly recommend this tour, so pleased we chose it. Thank you Laura
Michele did a phenomenal job of providing us a Florence family tour. He provided lots of colorful facts and stories from the time Florence began as Roman city to the modern times and how it evolved. He also provided us a walking tour and had great tips on trying Gelato and other fun things to eat. Now we know how to correctly pronounce pistachio the Italian way and we got an understanding of Pinocchio 😊. I highly recommend spending a day with Michele!
Laura was fantastic! In the past 40 years I've visited Florence 31 times already, yet Laura still and unexpectedly showed me things I hadn't seen before. She has a great knowledge of the city and of it's history and habits, she's very kind and open, it's a fantastic and unusually lovely experience!
Michele was awesome. Friendly. Engaging. Energetic. Knowledgeable. He arranged a tour based on our interests on the Medici family with visits to Medici Chapel and Palazzo Vecchio. It was four adults. He adapted to our need to stretch out our aperitivo break! Really, why rush drinking the aperol spritz! I have found private tours using Withlocals to be the highlight of all our tours in Florence and Venice. When I return to Firenze, I will book Michèle again.
We spent a lovely morning in the knowledgable and passionate company that was Omar. Being a proud Florentine showed as he guided us through the history of Florence with local insight.
We had a wonderful morning with Michele. He is a born story-teller and brought us back to the centuries of the de Medici family in Florence. Not too many dates and names, but stories to make us understand the intelligence, power, friendships, religion, intrigue and love for art of this famous family. All whilst walking in the center of the city and pointing out good local restaurants, shops and drinking a cappucino. Michele also gave us tips for our next stop in Tuscany. Thank you Michele for a lovely morning!
We spent a very enjoyable morning with Alessandra walking through the streets of Florence and hearing the stories of the families and powerful people who shaped the city and its architecture. Alessandra is extremely knowledgeable about history and was happy to answer all our questions and adapt the tour to our interests. We loved discovering areas of the city that we wouldnt have otherwise known about.
Chiara was so amazing, thank you for a wonderful tour of Florence! This is exactly what we were looking for, she is very knowledgeable and friendly, and this was by far the best tour we had on our vacation! Can't recommend Chiara enough!
My husband, son and I had a wonderful historical tour with Laura. Her knowledge of the the history of Florence, obvious passion for the architecture and art of her city, and pride of being born and raised as a Florentine,… made for an incredibly enriching experience. We have all been to Florence on several occasions, so we were looking for a tour that went deeper into the historical aspects of the city. She is a brilliant woman whose depth of knowledge was apparent. She also was open about much of modern Italian life, which I loved learning. On a personal note, she is just a kind and caring person. I would not hesitate to book your next tour with her.
Excellent art history class, if you're interested in the art of Florence and the history of the different families. Very informative! Amazing explanations that brought to life many details that we would have missed or not understood the significance of without the tour.
Our Guide, Piero, is knowledgable, good-humored and a skilled storyteller. We enjoyed three hours of both insightful and entertaining information shared by a soft-spoken, well-mannerd and highly competent guide. Thank you, Piero!
Our guide Martina was wonderful. Learned so much and she speaks perfect English so easy to understand. It was an outstanding experience. We recommend this tour and especially if Martina is leading it!
Not easy to interest three 15 yo teenagers! Martian was perfect. Lively, talkative, interesting, fun. We discovered a lot of hidden stories about places we had seen the previous days. I recomand her without hesitation. Benjamin-Geneva
Absolutely fantastic tour led by Piero! My family and I shared a fun morning with Piero. It was very easy to meet up with him at a central location. Although the day was very cold and windy, Pieros stories about the secrets in Firenze kept us going! The stories he shared were really informative, off the beaten path- PERFECT for what we were looking for when we booked the tour! He was constantly trying to engage with us, and made us feel very comfortable! He truly understands the subject matter- that was very apparent- yes, an expert! So if you are looking for a tour guide that really knows his stuff, Piero is the person you need! We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Piero as a tour guide to anyone interested in learning more about this beautiful city!
Martina made my Florence experience so special with her breadth of knowledge, passion and overall fun personality. She exceeded my expectations of the tour. The tour was better than I ever could have imagined because I got to see a side of Florence that I'd really only get to see if I was a longtime local that knew about the secrets. To say she is an expert is an understatement because of her extensive knowledge. I had questions about shopping and she gave me excellent tips and recommendations with those as well. Shes eager to help and extremely passionate about this beautiful city. Highly recommend the tour and especially the fabulous Martina!
We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Florence. Only had a limited amount of time there and the walking tour provided a great intro to the city and its history. Highly recommend. If driving in from outside the city, be sure to ask/research about parking options ahead of time.
Wonderful tour of signs & symbols of Florence. Guide was engaging, knowledgeable and friendly. He took us through the streets and piazza's of Florence. Wonderful time and enjoyed it very much.
The tour was everything I hoped for. Piero is very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Italian history. He is also very nice and engaging. I loved the stories and will definitely remember them! Also really appreciated all the tips he gave us (we already went to the gelateria he recommended and it was delicious!)
Appreciated a lot the personality of our guide (Omar), his affection for his city and his ability to showcase little known historical gems that dot the landscape of this incomparable city. If you're a history buff, take the tour, you will not regret it!
A first class guide that provided exactly what we Were Looking for . Highly recommended piers was very pleasant and helpful
Arzu customized a wonderful 3-hour tour of Florence for us during our recent trip to Italy. From the moment we first made contact I knew it was going to be an amazing experience. We met Arzu on Ponte Vecchio and began a whirlwind 2-hour tour of some of Florence's most amazing historical spots. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Florence and its history and we learned so much during our time together. She was able to point out the small details that would go unnoticed if you were simply walking by as a tourist. It was like we were let in on the little secrets of this beautiful and historic city which made me feel an intimate connection with it.Our tour ended with an hour at the Accademia Galleria where she again provided so much inside information, especially some details on Michelangelo's David.Aside from her knowledge and passion for Florence, she is an absolutely delightful person and it was our absolute pleasure to meet her and spend 3 amazing hours with her in Florence.Grazie di tutto, Arzu!:)
My family and I had a great time sightseeing with Ivana. She is very smart and took us to see the hidden historical spots in Florence. We were amazed! The tour was great! Ivana is very knowledgeable and pleasant. We liked very much to see Florence with her.
Mattia was very kind, answering any question about Florence and its myths. He planned a perfect journey through the city, passing by the most iconical places but also the non-tourist ones. It was the best end for our trip!
A wonderful stroll around the quirky parts of Florence with Piero. Great stories of mystery and intrigue into the lives of Strozzi and Medici families. Would highly recommend this tour.. Piero is a lovely guide.
I loved the (private-two of us) tour with Martina. She is a great storyteller and it was nice to hear interesting details about Florence you cannot read elsewhere. Moreover she could tell about typical Florence families and other local politicians from the Renaissance period and on. Just book it!
Together with my father we had a tour in Florence from lovely Martina about the symbols and mystery stories in Florence. Even though it was cold we enjoyed the tour and the enthuasiasm and kindness of Martina. If you are looking for a special tour which you cannot do everywhere, we would recommend this tour and especially with Martina! She tells the story very captivating and knows many small details from the stories. (Even some nice restaurant/ice cream restaurants)
We had an evening walk with Mattia through Florence and it was wonderfull!! The city at night is really beautifull and with such a guide its really nice!! He tould wonderfull stories, is very good informed and tells passionated about the city, the history and the buildings. We now know a lot of new things about Florence! If you go to Florence, ask Mattia!!
Thoroughly enjoyed our 2-person tour with Mattia: he took us on a vivid and colourful journey into centuries of history gossip. We met many of the main characters of Florentine society throughout the centuries, as we stopped at the city's historical landmarks. His descriptive story-telling allows for a visual experience of Florence's legends and real love stories, whilst revisiting the main buildings and statues, which you will no longer look at with the same eyes. Absolutely worth it!
The booked 3 hour guided tour with Federica is highly recommended. You get a ton of information about Florence and the history of powerful families. You can see all the sights and also have a super friendly competent and excellent German speaking guide. Thanks again to Federika also for the many tips.
After a short discussion with my friend about whether we are doing a guided tour at all and then also the "noble" variant, I was fortunately able to assert my head. We chose the tour in English despite German offers and with normal language skills we can recommend it to everyone. Every minute of this well thought out tour was worth it. And we didn’t realize that until we saw the large tourist groups in front of the big attractions known to everyone. The special thing was also that you experienced many small details that are not so in every guidebook. Martina's warm way of telling the stories immediately captivated us and time flew by. We also consumed this experience during the coming days in Florence and especially tasted the food tips. Thank you for the great day Martina After a short discussion with my boyfriend if we do a guided tour and at least a "special" private tour I luckily won the discussion. There were many offers in German but we decided to take an english tour and that is what we can recommend to everybody with normal language skills. Every minute was worthwhile. That we didn't only recognize after we saw the big tourist groups surrounding the famous sights. One special thing was that you get to know many things you can't find in the travel guides. Martina's cordial manner and the way she tells the stories had put us under the spell and time was flying. We have drawn on this experience in the following days in florence especially while trying the restaurant recommendation. Thanks for this wonderful day
With Frederica, we had a great time and discovered great stories while exploring the city. We really recommend Frederica who is great and gives good advice and places to go like locals.
I state that I was born and live in Florence but thanks to the arrival of friends from Turin I organized a guided tour with Omar so that I could enjoy with them the atmosphere of a Florence still a bit orphaned by tourists. It was an incredible experience. Omar was able to take me and my friend's 10-year-old son from Turin by the hand, telling us a story that spans centuries and has as its common thread the human genius between a street, a monument, among the most known places (which was able to show me with new eyes). The time spent together was really rich in information and pleasant for the intensity with which Omar conveys to you the love for this "flower" of the city. Whether it's your first time in Florence or you are now an honorary citizen, don't miss the opportunity to take a walk with Omar you will be fascinated by his stories and what he will make you discover step by step.
Don't miss the Tour with Omar. Never seen a guide so enthusiastic, in every word he feels his passion for Florence.
Maja was a wonderful guide. She responded to the interests of the children and told great stories from the time of the Medici. Her German is excellent
Piero's guided tour was fantastic, he knows a lot of stories about the city and especially a multitude of details (architectural, anecdotes, etc...). We would recommend it to our friends without hesitation! Thank you Piero
Mattia is an excellent storyteller. Florence does not appear to you at all in the same way. Mattia brings to life the stories and legends of Florence's love affairs. A very long time. Thanks, Mattia.
Federica the Withlocal guide who accompanied us on this beautiful tour was very kind. Recommended for all
