Private Tuscany Day Tour: San Gimignano And Chianti Wine Region From Florence

Marco was great. He was able to take us to the most incredible winery. Plus San gimigano and added on Volterra. It was a perfect day.

If I could leave higher than a 5 I would! This is the second time my family has used Marco to drive us in Tuscany and we very much enjoyed his itinerary. Marco is full of knowledge about Italy and wines. We look forward to touring with Marco again!

Marco was a consummate pro during our trip from Florence into Tuscany. He had the day planned out end to end for us, with several great stops along the way, as well as giving us context and history along the way. The stop in San Gimignano was great - despite being a small town, it was more than easy to fill up an hour walking around the small streets, taking in the views and climbing the massive tower. The Chianti vineyards were great and the entire experience was a truly "Italian" one.

Our driver Lorenzo was a fabulous host catering to our specific location requests with good humour, wit and knowledge about the region, history and politics. Highly recommended if you have specific destinations in mind or would prefer someone else to take charge.

Our tour guide was Marco who was friendly and worked to make the day trip memorable for our group. He was able to accommodate our special requests to visit the American Cemetery and the hill town of Volterra. He was always prompt to pick us up at appointed times. We had a great day!

Marco and his team of drivers were amazing. Marco set up the best two days for my family and I exploring wineries through Tuscany. He had the best suggestions, was professional, timely, and made the process seamless for us. We also used him for transportation services. We had a wonderful day exploring San Gimignano and also visited Florence American cemetery. Marco organized a beautiful lunch and wine tasting at San’appiano winery for us. We met the beautiful family of the restaurant and then we stopped at Casa Emma to do another wine tasting. Everything was spectacular. It was an unforgettable day.

Definitely a bucket list item. Totally amazing experience of visiting Tuscany with a private guide who not only showed us the most beautiful landscapes and old cities, but shared the rich history of the region. Delicious lunch at a family winery with gorgeous vistas was a definite high point. Lastly, Tomasso became everyone’s favorite guide and we will absolutely recommend this tour to our friends.

Our experience on our tour with Marco was so much more than we were expecting! Marco was so pleasant and very knowledgeable about the area. The winery stop was just wonderful and such an experience we could not have imagined! He was very prompt at pickup at our hotel lobby. He provided us time to explore San Gimignano on our own, along with helpful recommendations while we were there. My husband and I were visiting my daughter who was studying abroad in Florence and wanted to do some wine tasting in the Tuscany Region. Decided a private tour was best as we wanted to do and see as much as possible . Marco was our driver and was amazing from the start of the tour until the end. Very personable and spoke great English. We stopped at a few spots along the way for pictures and a short visit to San Gimignano with great history and amazing views of the countryside. Went wine tasting at Sant Appiano and was greeted by the owner and gave us a personal tour, wine tasting and an amazing lunch. The vineyard, wine and hospitality was five star! We also went to tour and taste at Casa Emma Which was also beautiful and wines were delicious . Great conversation with Marco on the way home . This is a must do and def ask for Marco!

I can't say enough about Marco and the overall experience. I genuinely cannot express how much better Marco made our experience and chose the PERFECT vinyards. Marco is INCREDIBLY well spoken and speaks nearly perfect English. He grew up in Florence and is incredibly passionate about his city and his knowledge of the history of Florence and the wine made this tour a perfect 10/10. Will absolutely be returning to Florence and going on a different tour with Marco. One of the nicest most genuine people I've ever met, and we got SO lucky finding Marco. Can't wait to come back! Our tour was with Tomasso who was so knowledgeable, kind & patient! We were limited physically and Tomasso adapted to us from the first minute. He shared the Tuscany he knows & loves & we got to see some of the most wonderful places that we had not seen in any tourist’s guide. A truly exceptional experience! After reading all of the positive reviews, I had no doubt that booking with Tuscany Top Drivers was the right decision and I was not wrong! We were greeted at our hotel by Tommaso. He was a fantastic guide, a wealth of knowledge, a love for his country and his hometown of Florence. Tommaso is a true family man, hard worker and just a genuinely nice guy. Conversation flowed freely througout the day. We started with a tour through Florence to the Piazza Michelangelo where we had a gorgeous panoramic view of Florence and a very informative history lesson from Tommaso. From there we went to Siena where we spent time on our own walking through the village, soaking in the history. We were in awe as we toured the Siena Cathedral. Tommaso took us on a scenic tour to an outstanding winery in Chianti where we were greeted by one of the owners who gave us an overview of the winery before we sat down for some wine tasting. The wine was delicious, and we had the best lasagna ever! Wrapping up this amazing day was a visit to San Gimignano. Simply beautiful with it's midieval architecture and stunning views. We had an amazing day with Marco! He’s extremely knowledgeable and it’s easy to see his passion for food and wine. The vineyards you go to are mostly family ran, which means you actually interact with the owners and see exactly how the wine is made. If you’re someone who interested in food and wine, I HIGHLY recommended doing a private tour with Marco!

We booked our 5 hr tour very last minute and were fortunate that Marco was still available. He took us Casa Emma for a delicious lunch incl wine tasting. After that we took the scenic route to San Gimignano. By choice, we only had 5 hours for this tour from Florence and I highly recommend that you book a full day tour. It was our own fault, that we only had an hour in San Gimignano and we recommend at least 2 - 3 hours there. Marco was on time, very knowledgeable, easy and very pleasant to spend the time with and his Mercedes van was immaculate. Thanks Marco for the great Sunday, we will be back!!!!!!

<p>Amazing tour! Highly recommend! Marco picked us up at the Florence train station, he was on time and had messaged me where he would be standing etc. Marco was so nice, easy to get along with and we felt very comfortable. The wineries were beautiful and so fun. Our first winery, the owners came out and greeted us like we were family! Best lasagna we've ever had and we loved the wine so much we have a case coming! Second winery had great wine and gave us more food - cheese/bread and a plate of chocolate bits to eat with our wine. Loved it! These are just wine tastings - they will keep pouring until you tell them to stop! San Gimignano I could have stayed a few more hours as what a great little town. Recommend climbing up to the top of the highest tower as the views are amazing. Marco took us back to Florence and then gave us a little tour and took us to a spot to take a picture overlooking Florence. Beautiful! He spent extra time with us to show us this side of Florence and we were very grateful! He dropped us off, as asked, in Florence so we could walk around a little. He made sure we knew how to get to the train station to catch our train. What a great day! Thanks Marco!</p>

This was the best thing we did! Such a great trip and driver. A must do in Florence . It was worth every penny!

The day Marco planned for my family was a dream. I have been studying abroad in Florence for a few months and haven't had a day like this yet. Marco kindly picked us up from our hotel and drove us to a medieval village where we began our journey. He showed us a famous gelatteria, church, and beautiful towers we were able to climb. He then took us to two different wineries. The first was family run and we were able to try about 5 wines, accompanied by delicious Italian cuisine. Marco then took us to a second winery where we received a tour of the cellar and were did a wine, olive oil, and vinegar tasting while enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery. Marco couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating to what our family wanted to see and learn about. We highly recommend this tour for all people! Thank you Marco!
