We’re still talking about our private wine tour in Tuscany with Fabio. He was absolutely amazing. From the moment we met him, it felt like we were spending the day with a friend. He showed us so much, took the sweetest pictures of us, and made the whole day feel so easy and personal. My fiancé and I got engaged toward the end of our wine tasting, which made the day even more special. I’m so glad Fabio was part of a day we’ll be telling stories about for the rest of our lives. If you’re planning a private wine tour in Tuscany, ask for Fabio. We really do feel like we left with a friend. Thank you, Fabio, for a day we’ll never forget!

Itinerary
Our first stop of the day is at a beautiful winery belonging to one of our prestigious Italian aristocratic families. Here we taste three wines paired with salumi (cured meats) – but first, there’s a fascinating guided tour of the historic cellars and the olive mill, which we will reach through underground tunnels that pass beneath the villa
Now buckle up and get ready for some off-roading through ancient woodlands and rolling hills. Hop aboard the 4x4 vehicle and take in the beautiful scenery, from the cypress trees to the rustic farms and churches, as we make our way to Rignana, a typical Tuscan restaurant and winery with stunning views. Get your taste buds ready for lunch of delicious food and red wine (and a blind olive oil tasting). You won’t want to leave!
The adventure continues as we continue our drive through the incredible countryside on our way to our final stop of the day. Here you will take a tour of the impressive villa and hear about some incredible events that have happened here during the last 600 years and the famous families who have lived here. There will be time to relax and walk around the stunning grounds, soaking in the unique beauty and views, whilst learning more about wine before you sit for the final tasting of three wines paired with cheese. The perfect end to a truly unforgettable day.

This tour was amazing!!! We went to two wineries and had a delicious lunch at a farm house. Sara was a fantastic guide! I would highly recommend!!!
We took private wine tour and we were picked up at our hotel in Florence. We were greeted by our guide Sara and our driver Giuseppe. Sara was very informative about the wine and how it is made and we were brought to three wineries. One wineries had a restaurant where we had a lovey lunch. The wine tasting had meat and cheese to go with the wine. The area is beautiful and it rain the day we were on the tour and Giuseppe did excellent job driving on the back roads. This tour takes about 6 hours and it was such a nice day seeing all the country side. Thank you Sara and Giuseppe for such a wonderful and memorable day.
The moment Fabio met us at our house we knew we would be in for a great day- he’s exceptionally energetic, engaged in great conversation, and we also took what was a master class in the wines of the Chianti region with our guide and level 3 Som. Both winery visits were intimate encounters with welcoming staff. Our first stop at Principe Corsini included an introduction to the family history, as well as the traditions that the winery and prince carries on, including the wines innovated by his later son (who tragically passed way too early). The second stop after a terrific lunch and tasting at Fattoria Rignana (with a welcoming host as well), was at Poggio Torselli. Our host was a young Som and we thoroughly enjoyed his conversation and instruction as well. We were even greeted by the estate’s homeowner, a charismatic and humble Pasquale Cusano (who works in the gardens and on the grounds- look up his bio). He and my wife enjoyed a great conversation (and I’m glad she didn’t run off with him😉). Fabio was the consummate guide, equally friendly, interesting, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Fabio and his capable driver, Labi.
This was a terrific experience if you want to visit a beautiful winery, have a scenic drive throughout Tuscany followed by a delicious lunch. Our guide Sarah was outstanding--she was knowledgeable in every way!!!
We didn’t have a car, but wanted a day out of the city during our weeklong stay in Florence. This tour was perfect. We were about a dozen people, hosted by a very attentive and helpful guide, her name was Oz. We were driven to a gorgeous historic villa, where a wealthy family makes wine and opens their home and production facilities to small groups like ours. We enjoyed a wine tasting after visiting the grounds and cellar, then were driven through the gorgeous Tuscan hills to a country restaurant with views to die for. More delicious Chianti, followed by a family style meal served in one of the most beautiful locations ever. If I’m being super picky, I’d say the food there was not “wow”, but everything other aspect of this tour was so good that it didn’t really matter. It was simply a lovely day and very much recommended.
The best time ever. We would recommend this to anyone traveling to Italy. Our tour guide Fabian was incredible and so knowledgeable about the city, wineries and history.
We took the Wine Safari and it was amazing!!! Our guide Sara was the most wonderful guide we have ever had. She knows a lot about wines and loved everything we learned from her. She is funny and very helpful. The tour gets you to wonderful wineries and we had lovely lunch in one of them. Fabio our chofer was wonderful too. This tour I recommend a lot. You see the Italian country side which is incredibly beautiful. Loved everything!!!!
Alex took us into the countryside to two amazing wineries. We had an incredible lunch at the first. Both places were welcoming and informative. The entire day was perfect and Alex made sure we had the best time. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the area. Highly recommend booking with Walkabout.
We had a great time on this tour. We received a great education on winemaking and the production of olive oil. The wines and the food were excellent. Our guide, Fabio, was the best -- full of humor, but also insightful and knowledgeable. Easily the best wine tour I've ever done.
Fabian was amazing. Knowledgeable entertaining and very fun to be with. Will request him our next trip. He is so well received at every winery and we never felt out of place.
Great food. Great wine. Amazing tour guide, Gian Carlo. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Tuscany and wine. The views are spectacular and you will not be disappointed.
Hands down the best thing we did on our honeymoon to Florence! Fabi our guide was cheeky and fun, but super knowledgeable on all things wine and Florence. The 3 wineries we stopped at (2 for tasting, 1 for lunch ... and wine) were gorgeous, historic, and had the best wine I've ever had. I would do this entire day again if I could... it was perfect. We also did another winery tour through a different company on a different day and it did not even come close to as good of an experience we had with WalkAbout's Safari tour. Do yourself a favor, book through WalkAbout, they're professional, kind, and make the entire experience easy and enjoyable.
Fantastic day, wine and food excellent. Guide Alessandro very informative, with wine, region and history. Would definitely recommend.
This was an amazing tour by far the best tour i’ve had in the 15yrs doing tours throughout italy as well as other countries. Fabio made this a spectacular day and is not only the nicest guy he’s is full of knowledge as well as funny at the same time he taught us so much about the history of tuscany as well as wine.
Gloria and Nando are amazing! This was a great trip (we are a 26 year old couple). We really enjoyed seeing all 3 wineries, and all of the landscapes and venues were stunning. Gloria was a great guide and we loved spending the day with her. The wine was also excellent! Gloria does a wonderful job of catering the tour to what you would like to learn / talk about, and it was also a really fun day. We also got to meet folks at the wineries who would tell us some additional information and do the tastings with us. We got some great photo ops (specifically at the last venue) and the private tour aspect was also really nice vs going with a group.
6 Close Crazy Friends on an Italy Vacation! Let me start with Gloria! Gloria is phenomenal at her job! You can tell that she really loves what she does! She shared personal stories with us, and was a wealth of knowledge about Tuscany. By the end of the day long wine tour, we felt like she was part of our friend group! She knew exactly what to say to make us laugh and when to just let us enjoy the moment. Tuscany is breathtaking but we would have no idea where to go or where to start without Gloria and the amazing driver Dominico. That man maneuvered us through spots and traffic that I thought would be impossible to get through. The vineyards are incredible. We got to go to a vineyard owned by an Italian Prince, and another Vineyard that is 600 years old (let that sink in!). The lunch at the second vineyard was really good so the walking around at the next vineyard will be a nice change. I can't tell you enough how much we enjoyed this wine tour. As friends we have all done trips together to Napa Valley and Texas Wine Country, but this one was by far the best one!! In fact we had such a great time that we completely forgot to get group pictures of the six of us. HAHAHA. Oh well. I blame it on the wine! Anyways, we can't thank Gloria and Dominico enough for making our Friend's Vacation a trip to remember!! LOVE YOU GLORIA!!! Love, the San Antonio 6!
We recently enjoyed a private wine tour with our guide Alex, and it was hands down the best wine experience we’ve ever had! From the moment he arrived, it was clear that Alex was dedicated to making our day unforgettable. His knowledge of wines and the winemaking process was impressive, and he shared fascinating insights that truly enhanced our appreciation for each tasting. Alex’s personality was a highlight of the tour—he was funny, charming, and incredibly friendly. His attentiveness to our preferences made the experience even more enjoyable! The Tuscan lunch provided was outstanding! The ragu pappardelle with boars meat and black truffle ravioli were unforgettable. The private nature of the tour allowed for a more intimate experience, something we wouldn’t have achieved in a larger group. We were also impressed by the high-quality vineyards we visited, each offering exceptional service. We even had more wine selections than we had originally planned! The comfortable transport added to the overall enjoyable experience. I can’t recommend this tour enough, and while it may not be the cheapest option, it was worth every penny. Thank you, Alex, for being an incredible guide—your passion for wine and travel made our tour truly special!
Fabio created a very memorable day for our private group. He kept us well informed of our schedule throughout the day. We did not feel rushed at all. Our group really enjoyed his insight and knowledge on all the wines we were tasting, along with the histories of each winery/vineyard. Highly recommend this tour if you want to experience Tuscany in a very unique setting. We were driving along roads less traveled and witnessed incredible Tuscan scenery. A huge thank you to Fabio!
Best wine tour we have done to date. It’s not cheap but worth every penny. High quality vineyards and wine selections. We were offered more selections of wines than originally scheduled. All the staff at each vineyard offered exceptional first class service. The lunch was really delicious and probably the best ragu and black truffle ravioli I have ever tasted. Most importantly. Our guide Alex is really knowledgeable about wines and a top notch guide! He’s so helpful, extremely pleasant and intriguing to have conversations with on wines, food and travelling. Transport was also extremely comfortable.
The Chianti tour was wonderful . My family of 18 took the tour w two of their awesome trucks. Fabio our tour guy was amazing so knowledgeable as we drove thru the beautiful country side of Italy to 3 wineries . Learning so much on the making of wine and olive oil. The foods and wine we tasted were delish. The lunch we had at one winery was also delish. It was just a fabulous day . Thank you Fabio and our driver . And of course Italy for its beautiful country side and amazing wineries .
My brand new wife and I had an amazing time on this wine tour. Our guide Alex couldn’t have done anything different to make this better, we had an absolutely amazing time! He was so knowledgeable about the wines and the process and imparted a good bit of that knowledge on us! He was funny, charming, personable, and very very friendly. My wife isn’t the biggest fan of red wines and he went out of his way to call the spots to include a white or roseate in the mix so that she could enjoy the tastings as well. This was so incredibly considerate. The Tuscan lunch provided was a highlight meal, and we were in Italy for 2 weeks so that’s saying a lot. Having a private tour allowed for a much more intimate and personable experience that I honestly know we wouldn’t have had elsewhere. I’ll finish up by praising Alex once more, and I’m sure all of the guides are amazing, but Alex is the man. This was the highlight of our honeymoon and we will cherish these memories for decades to come. -Andrew and Stephany Bersson
With our wonderful guide, Alex (Alessandro) at the helm our Chianti wine safari in beautiful Tuscany was one of the most memorable, special, fun experiences of our entire vacation in Italy! As we journeyed from Florence to the 3 wineries we visited Alessandro provided us with very interesting information and stories about Italy, Florence, Tuscany, the long history of Chianti wine making and the unique wine making production at each winery. We tasted some fantastic wines, and olive oils! We even bought an extra suitcase so we could bring several of those delicious bottles of wine and olive oils home with us! Grazi Mille to Alessandro and Walkabout Tours! In addition to being a very knowledgeable sommelier, so charming, and great fun!!!! we truly loved every minute of our wonderful Chianti adventures with Alessandro!!!!!
The winery tour was amazing!!! The third winery was the absolute highlight- such a stunning place with ancient paintings, statues and furniture and we could not have been looked after any better - the tasting was set up in a private room and and we were given a beautiful run through of the five wines we sampled (with three varieties of goat cheese!)! Fabian was a great guide, interesting and caring.
We celebrated our 49th anniversary in style! Alex was a most excellent driver/guide for the day. It was just my husband and me and the day was perfect! From the wine tasting to the scenery to the backroad drives and to the eating of delicious food at every stop…perfect. Thank you so much!
lavo our tour guide and Labi our driver were amazing. So informative and so fun! We had a great time and will be recommending this to all our friends that plan to visit Florence
Did this trip today with Sara our guide and Daniel our driver. Was a really great day. Sara was very knowledgeable, friendly and Daniel was a fantastic driver and so courteous. Off road was bumpy at times but that was part of the whole experience. Lunch was delicious and staff very attentive. Highly recommend
Lavi was absolutely amazing. She is so knowledgeable and approaches the information in an accessible, easy-to-understand manner. Romolo was a fantastic driver through some pretty tough terrain, as well! I would absolutely recommend this tour; my boyfriend and I had the best time.
This was our favorite tour during our 10 days in Italy! We toured 3 villas, learned about each of their productions, and tasted 9 wines, with a lunch in between. Our tour guide Gloria and driver Romulo were amazing — very knowledgeable and very accommodating for my mother who does not drink and is vegetarian! Each villa had a very unique identity, history, and production which was so interesting to learn about. Of course, the best part was all the amazing wine and understanding what causes the differences in terms of color, taste, and smell. Best experience, highly recommend!
On the occasion of my husband's 70th birthday, 14 friends met in Florence for 5 days. After much research, we choose to use Walkabout Tours for a Private Wine and Lunch Tour for one of those days. We had an great day, and everything was as promised but what was 'over the top' was our guide... GLORIA !! She was the highlight of the day !! Everybody loved her. She had a beautiful voice, and great English, easy going and was well informed…the perfect tour guide. If you have a chance request Gloria....and we highly recommend the service that Walkabout provided in answering all our requests.
Together with Giuseppe, our trusted driver and Sara we spent a day in the Chianti hills visiting renowned wineries and tasting extraordinary typical food and wines... Sara guided and accompanied us with her detailed explanations and her passion for her beautiful land.
I really liked the tour, the places are very cute, the eye-catching vehicle super comfortable, very informative and the lunch very rich. Alessandro is a super good guide, with lots of information available and Rômulo handles the off-road vehicle super well.
