Was a beautiful place to visit, very well introduced and explained by our profesional guide Roberta , who provided us a lot of art and historical informations. We didn’t felt the time was gone so quickly…was so much beauty inside the palace! A lot of art masterpieces well pointed by the guide ! Many thanks and best regards to Roberta, FlorencePass !

Beautiful palace with much to see. Need to book timed tour of Royal apartment if wish to visit (included with most tickets). Varied exhibits to see from art, statues and fashion. Self guided tour let us go at our own pace. Cafe inside for refreshments when needed. Go early for quieter visit
The palace apartments are stunning- each room is more opulent than the next. The costumes from each era are also fantastic. Arrive before 11am as the crowds arrive in the afternoon and it’s a bit chaotic. The Boboli gardens are clean and pretty but most of the statues are scaffolded and the Neptune fountain is emptied of water snd under some Reno’s, so that was a tad disappointing.
This was our first visit to Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens. It will not be our last. The palace is so immense and full of artwork that it would take a few visits to encompass it all and many more to appreciate the full beauty of the collection. The gardens are unique and built on a hill behind the palace. It is a relaxing was to take in the neighborhood and also see some of the major sites of Florence.
Gloria was outstanding with her knowledge. The Tour was amazing and so interesting Gloria gave us information on everything. We asked her several questions and she had every answer! She was so kind and upbeat! We would definitely recommend this tour on your trip to Florence.
The star of our holiday experiences The Palazzo Pitti is stunning. The granduer of the rooms alone makes a visit worthwhile and the enormous art collection within those rooms is truly incredible. In all Florence it was my favourite visit and I would happily go again. Sadly it was far too hot to enjoy the Boboli Gardens which are part of the palace.
Do not miss this place. It and the Bardini gardens nearby are wonderful. Pitti has a huge art collection, a large and interesting display of costumes through the ages, and some bedrooms on display. If you are lucky you might get on a guided kitchen tour!
The Pitti Palace was commissioned in 1440 by the banker Luca Pitti in an attempt to outdo the Medici family; but his luck changed and the family had to sell it to them in 1549. They initiated major expansion works, lavishly decorating the rooms and creating what are now the Bobboli Gardens. With the death of the last Medici Grand Duke in 1737, the Habsburg-Lorraines took over and lived in the palace until 1860. King Vittorio Emmanuel I briefly lived here from 1865-71. The Palatine Gallery was opened to the public in 1874 and the palace was donated to the state in 1919. To my mind, the building has a functional, depressing outward façade, like a prison, deliberately hiding views of the gardens behind. But the extensive interiors are a real treasure-house. The visit is equivalent to 6 separate attractions, and in many ways, more absorbing than the Uffizi. The Palatine Gallery is housed in a luxurious suite of rooms, filled with artworks, largely by Tuscan or wider Italian painters; Tintoretto, Raphael, Murillo, Gentileschi, Lippi, Titian, Caravaggio and more. The fun is finding them tucked away among the others, and guessing what the subject is. These rooms are enjoyable for the decoration alone. For me, the Ark Room was the most impressive, with its simulation of a large tent and action going on around you – fresco, trompe a l’oeil and marbling combined. The Royal Apartments were unfortunately closed, but there’s still the Museum of Fashion and Costume, the Modern Art Collection, and the State Rooms. In the latter, trompe a l’oeil is taken to the limit in some stunning rooms. The Russian icons did not work for me, but some of the items in the Treasury were mind-boggling, especially the ivory carvings (yes, I know tastes change over the centuries). Café not the cheapest and service not great. Boboli Gardens are an extra fee.
This is a really impressive palace to visit with numerous exhibits on display so be sure not to miss them as they are located inside the walkways around the courtyard. If you have not a sore neck after visiting, you've not been looking at the building properly, as the ceilings are the stars of the show. There's just about everything you could wish for in a palace of this scale, art, furniture, sculpture, clocks, bronze, ceramic and beautifully painted and ornate ceilings. My ticket was part of the combination with the timed visit to the Uffizi, but go early to avoid the crowds.
We really enjoyed our visit at the palace but This review is for the cafe at the Pitti Palace. The staff at the cafe were extremely rude to us and had a very obvious dislike of tourists. We were nothing but polite in the cafe but, we were treated so badly it was very upsetting. My daughter was laughed at and ridiculed for ordering something vegetarian. I was then, not given the cappuccino that I ordered and paid for. When I went to the counter to politely ask for my cappuccino I was mocked and abused. When I asked a waitress for help, she was also rude and yelled at me. This does not give a good representation of the people of Florence. Do not go to this cafeteria.
Voucher information incorrect-tour guide had tickets instead of pickup at office. Tour only lasted 30 minutes as a result of mixup not 2 hours. Guide rushed through tour as she said had other bookings. No tour of other parts of Pitti Palace-saw remainder on own. Terrible “tour”. Will demand refund-don’t book with them
Florence was Italy's center of culture and commerce during the Rennaissance era. The Medici family was, predominantly, Florence's leaders in governance and banking. Today, you can visit their residence, Pitti Palace. Medici family were generous patrons of the arts. You can see many masterpieces in the Palatina Gallery, It's dominated by gold. The magnificent paintings were created by leading Rennaissance artists such as Raphael, Caravaggio and Fra' Fillipo Lippi. Lippi's paintings create the emotion associated with Christianity, unlike any other painter. Some areas are a bit confused, but the Pitti Gallery is one Italy's outstanding artistic venues.
Amazing experience. So much history and so much to see. It was also close to the other sites of Florence.
The palace is amazing. I could go ten times more. The guide was great. The instructions on how to get the tickets were wrong
Gloria was an energetic, well-informed guide. We loved her study of Rafael’s works as we toured the palace. Marvelous!!!
I've been to Florence many times and somehow never visited until this trip. It's a great addition to a trip to Florence! The palace is beautiful and the art is just the frosting on the cake. The Garden is great, too, and provides a beautiful view of Florence if you walk to the top of it. Highly recommend as a combination ticket with the Ufizzi Garden!
Booked this experience for myself and my significant other on holiday. Only to queue in line at Pitti Palace, and be told that my booking was invalid, and that they “normally experience this problem” with this booking. My husband was super excited about this specific experience and so we repurchased the tickets, as we were already busy that day and did not have time for Viator’s logistical issues. I would’ve much rather have bought the ticket at the actual palace because it was the same price with less complications and they could get us in sooner
The guide command of English was poor. hard to understand . She did not explain or go over the history . It very hurried and rushed
I highly recommend the guided tour. Before the tour I knew a little about the Medici family bankers and some of their influence on the arts and sciences. I had no idea how extensive it actually was. And, their influence in the Roman Catholic Church.
Guide was on time. She seemed somewhat disorganized but gave a great overview of the Pitti and Medici family before we entered the museum
Take your walking shoes along... it is a huge gallery. Also advisable to book the combo ticket for the gardens.
The Palace and the amount of art is overwhelming. We also enjoyed the special exhibit on the life of Eleanor of Toledo.
A visit to the Pitti Palace in Florence also offers a more material experience of aristocracy with exhibits like the Porcelain Museum, Treasury of the Grand Dukes and the Museum of Costume and Fashion for an in-depth look into the possessions and daily indulgences of the ruling class. Directly behind Pitti Palace are the marvellous Boboli Gardens. The Medici family established the layout of the gardens, creating the Italian garden style that would become a model for many European courts. The vast green expanse with a regular layout is a real outdoor museum, populated by ancient and Renaissance statues.
It was easy to get the tickets, we were able to get in quickly and the museum was impressive. Was disappointed that the Boboli Gardens was a separate ticket. IT should made clearer on the description what is NOT included since if you are unfamiliar with an attraction you would have no way of knowing. The fact that costume museum was closed was also a disappointment and not called out in the description.
Seemingly endless series of incredibly decorated rooms. All with artwork. And Napoleon’s bathroom! 🛁
the rooms are absolutely beautiful and worth the visit. There is also a cafe outside for a cappuccino break which i recommend after touring the whole place. you can than get a 10 euro ticket to visit the gardens which is also a great walk and view of florence from the top hill.
The tour included a guide who never arrived. Waited over 30 minutes and still didn't arrive. An employee of the Palace was helpful. Telephoned the agent who was not helpful. Employee of the palace spoke to agent and we eventually got a ticket to enter but with no guide.
The palace was beautiful. I’m unfortunately there were no audio guides to rent so you are on your own if you don’t hire a tour guide. Parts of the palace were closed which wasn’t mentioned prior to our visit. But the treasures and art are spectacular. The biggest issue was retrieving our tickets prior to the visit. We were told a tour guide would meet us there. No one was there. We called Viator and they said to pick up our tickets at the Pitti ticket office. The ticket agent said they didn’t hold tickets for independent tour groups an sent us to the front entrance. The front entrance sent us back to the ticket office. We again called Viator and handed the phone to the ticket agent and they worked it out. But it was 45 minutes of wasted time trying to figure out how to get our tickets. The email should tell you exactly where to go and what to do (it only gives very general instructions). But better yet, we live in a digital world. Send us the actual tickets in email before we arrive. That would have been amazingly convenient and provided a much better experience.
Lots to see here with a host of rooms full of artworks. Nice cafe to take a break. I would recommend if in Florence for 3 days or more.
Entry was very easy and no lines. Sadly there were no audio guides so you should get a tour. We enjoyed the time there but an audio guide would help.
the Pitti palace is a must see and the gallery is one of the most amazing private collections I’ve seen in Rome. That being said; if you can find your tour operator that’s great. My normal experience was you wonder from various tour companies asking where your tour company meets and no one knows or will help. Since there are at least six at every attraction and you just want to avoid the crowds and the lines. It’s not a pleasant experience. I’m not impressed h this time with my booking experience. Sorry but other companies just email your tickets.
A great museum with an amazing set of paintings that rivals the facilities that was home to at least 3 sets of rulers of Florence. A must see. Advance tickets and early visit recommended.
the palace and museums were awesome but i had an issue at the entrance - the staff couldn't find my reservation and it took a while for her to give me the ticket and had attitude. although i had no problem with viator, the staff at the palace was really impolite.
Absolutely worth seeing. One of the most beautiful attractions in Florence and Italy. Stratospheric collections with works by the greatest of the Renaissance.
Highly recommended, it is a place that you can not miss and enter. It is a must and better visit with guide, which was very good.
For 38 euros you buy the combined ticket Uffizzi, Pitti and Boboli Gardens. Highly recommended all Palace exhibitions. I was very struck by the Fashion Museum, very interesting pieces.
It is worth spending a couple of hours, or more, seeing this beautiful palace and gardens. If you have the Firenze Card, it is included. Avoid the cafeteria at all costs, in addition to a very rough treatment (bordering on poor education), it is quite expensive. In addition, the terrace has ridiculous rules, such as that you cannot be more than three at a table or that these cannot be put together. In fact, I was able to see in person how they raised a couple who had two children. A nonsense.
…it looks majestic and imposing!!…this beautiful Pitti Palace in Florence!!…fantastic architecture!!…it was built by the Pitti family!!l…which was later sold to the Medici family!!…and thus became their residence!!…over time it was then enlarged and renovated!!…the building overlooks the wonderful Boboli Gardens!!…in this Palace there are various Museums!!…I visited the Palatine Gallery!!…here they are preserved some sublime works!!…a vast collection of paintings by very important painters!!…like Raphael…Titian…Correggio…Rubens…etc!!…there are also the royal apartments…but yesterday it was closed!!…then the Silver Museum …the Gallery of Modern Art…the Porcelain Museum and finally the Museum of Fashion and Costume!!…I was lucky enough to have a good guide!!…who described the most important paintings!!…and also the various rooms and the details of the Palace!!…it is said to be one of the most famous museums in the world!!…Palazzo Pitti!!…yes yes!!…definitely worth seeing if you arrive in Florence!!…
We loved it, to stay at least 3 hours. It's very worth it even if it doesn't have as much fame with Uffizzi or Academia, I couldn't say that I liked it more... The gardens are separate and since it was raining we didn't take them but from what you can see from the palace they must be beautiful Adults in low season €10 and children under 18 free. It's amazing to see how the Medicci lived at that time. To highlight the exhibition of the history of fashion.
I didn't like the museum much. He has many paintings, some positioned high up on the wall and you can't see them very well. The ark room deserves a separate note, which I liked, with its frescoed walls as well as the ceiling which seems to have a pink and white drape. You can find less famous paintings by Raphael, Titian, Van Dyck, Caravaggio, Rubens and even Orazio Gentileschi (Artemidia Gentileschi's father)
Must-see palace in Florence full of wonders to see it takes about 2h30/3h to see everything There is a cafeteria to eat Thread-cutting tickets are very convenient and avoid queues I recommend 😊
Hermoso lugar.
Also here as in other packages I paid an unnecessary surcharge not having purchased tickets from the official website but leaving out this detail and being cmq was brought to light of everything in the order, I was very pleased to accept it and I will tell you it was worth it because it was AMAZING. It's too little a single day to fully enjoy it I will definitely return!!!
