The Pitti Palace is not to be missed. Our guide Roberta (though this name may be a spellcheck error) was an enchanting and engaging storyteller. She cheerfully led us through the many stunning galleries of prized artworks and amazing architectural details at a good pace, and we were allowed to revisit rooms after her tour was completed.
Our guide was amazing! And the palace is breathtaking! Thoroughly enjoyed as the area was not crowded (we did 8:30 tour) so you go to fully enjoyed the architecture and artworks of famous artists in the time of the Medicis. Highly recommend, at least with our guide. She made the history come alive!
This small group tour, was the absolute best of many tours we have experienced, so far, across Europe. There is nothing better than a guide who is passionate about art history, and who brings art to life, provokes thought, and invites questions. If you have any interest at all in the Medici dynasty, the Hapsburgs and Artists: Raphael, Botticelli, Caravaggio, Titian, along with sculpture, frescoes, silks, and period furniture crafted with semi-precious inlays - then you should not miss the opportunity to take this tour of the PItti Palace.
Amazing palace to view, we booked the palace, but not Garden… Also booked a reservation to view the Royal Apartments that was outstanding. They book for 20 people maximum per tour (they run them regularly) when you go in ask to put on the list.
Our tour guide was Camilla. Her explanation of the impressive collection of masterpieces made our visit special.
Camilla was a fantastic guide, incredibly knowledgeable and excellent communicator
I recently visited the gallery and had a refreshing experience. The calm, welcoming space showcases thoughtfully curated contemporary African art. The atmosphere feels accessible, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Though small, it allows you to enjoy each piece without rushing. The seren is a peaceful, inspiring spot and definitely worth visiting
The palace is beautiful but none of the paintings etc within are fpr the Medici family very misleading
Superb guide made this visit a wonderful experience. Thank you so much Camilla. The right pace of tour and Camilla has so much knowledge.
Thank you for an amazing tour. Our guide was wonderful! She was VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE about all the art and the buildings! Thank you for a wonderful time!
Tour guide was excellent. Audio equipmemt worked well. Lots of historical details, good stories and our group had many questions all of which she had amazing answers for. Lot of very interesting artwork in the palace. The guide pointed out choice pieces and told stories of the history and significance. Definitely recommed this tour.
Camila was our fabulous tour guide. She was so kind and knowledgeable. Answered all of our questions and really told us the history of the palace and the families. Really enjoyed our tour with her.
Excellent opportunity to see how King's and Queen's lived in the Medici dynasty. We visited twice and also the gardens. Many beautiful parts of this building including this photo of the Medici Chapel
Our docent, Camilla, was so informative! An art restoration artist herself, she shared artistic and historical insights not only of the many works of art in the Palatina Gallery but also of the Medici family! She graciously accepted all questions and answered the questions thoroughly. Camilla warmly welcomed us to the Pitti Palace and was a delightful and thoughtful guide!
Guide was very informed about art. She gave a great presentation on various paintings. Saw some of the great artists works
We had a fabulous guide she was very knowledgeable about the many masterpieces held at the Pitti Palace and she provided a great deal of history of the palace ownership and Medici family. Highly recommend this tour.
Camille was a friendly and knowledgeable guide, passionate about her work and the palace. We thoroughly enjoyed this introduction to one of the most amazing collections of art and furniture in the world. Whilst it covered just the tip of the iceberg as far as all the works in the gallery it was the perfect tour for us beginners as otherwise it would simply have been too overwhelming to take in. The staff were also helpful in assisting us with another problem for which we needed some Italian language skills!! and we are extremely grateful for their assistance with this matter. They were caring and thoughtful and it really made our day when we had this issue resolved! We had plenty of free time after the tour to have a coffee in the cafe and then do a self guided tour of the fashion gallery (well worth a look) and other later paintings in the huge galleries which continue past where this tour takes you. A lovely morning.
Camilla has a wonderful personality and brilliant knowledge of art, the Pitti Palace and The Medicis.
The palace of the first family of Rome. It’s part fine art, part soap opera, all the things that make Florence great. So much to see, so little time. A wonderful tour.
A fabulous detailed guide through the art treasures and history of the Florence first families. Our guide was very skilled and knowledgeable.
Our tour guide was amazing. So informative and very sweet. One of the best tours we had. Do this tour will not regret it. Thanks
Great tour, lots of extra detail and descriptions. Guide asked about art we liked and pointed out pieces in different rooms. Was great to have a guide as there is so many pieces in the palace.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative and the tour was great. The grounds are beautiful.
We were fortunate to be part of a small group with an outstanding guide (Camille?). She ensured that we were able to enjoy the outstanding works of art, in a setting which overflowed with a potentially overwhelming number of works of genius. This beautiful setting was truly brought to life for us.
Our tour guide from Florence Pass was very knowledgeable and informative about the works at Pitti Palace and she made our experience worth while and a good experience.
This place is full of treasures. My friends were able to see the original of a painting which had hung in their home as children. Added bonus was the impressive collection of women's fashion pieces. Only wish we had more time to see the grounds.
Anna was an EXCELLENT tour guide and art historian. She made the tour educational and interesting. This tour although it says 2.5 hours turns out to be longer. The two hours is with the guide but then you have hours of extra time touring the palace and gardens. It was a great tour! Loved it!!!
Camilla was 10/10. So incredibly knowledgeable but also fun and made the palace come alive again. Such a unique experience, cannot recommend enough!
Our tour guide, Christian was amazing. His knowledge was never ending and we learned so much while seeing a stunning palace, the finest art and gorgeous architecture!
The best palace in Florence. Spoilt by all the various forms of art from sculptures to paintings to interior design, architecture to name but a few. Every room was awash with treasures. Took our breath away.
Lovely! Absolutely amazing. A very experienced and knowledgeable guide walked us through the gardens and through the various rooms in the palace. Her English was perfect and she was easy to hear and understand, and she obviously had a lot of knowledge in artwork. This was so informational and interesting and I could have stayed in the beautiful gardens for hours. So happy with this tour, highly recommended!
Great guide with wonderful information to share about the art pieces! The art in the Pitti Palace is amazing and the tour did a great job of hitting the highlights.
Way too much time spent on explaining every little detail about the paintings. It was way too much information. We paid $73 each for the tour and then found out it did NOT include the gardens. We had to exit and get in line and pay more. Not worth the money at all.
Great trip, Fantastic guide who genuinely cared about his subject and had a huge amount of knowledge about both the Pitti palace, Florence and the art he talked about. Would definitely recommend
Cristiano is a wealth of knowledge. We have been at the Pitti Place numerous times before on our own but never were able to appreciate it the way we did after our tour with Cristiano. He has 30.years experience and a passion for what he does and it shows. We would highly recommend anyone interested in history and are to sign up.
Seeing original artworks and understanding in context of historical people and events. A wonderful snd enthusiastic tour guide who brought great joy in sharing such treasures
I’m sad to write a mixed review. I had very high expectations and they were sorta met but then again, not really. The building and art were spectacular, the history awesome, the guide was knowledgeable and helpful. The problem is that much of the artwork is as it was a hundred+ years ago. So you’d walk into a room and it was stuffed with awesome artwork but instead of being awe’d, I was trying to position myself around the room so I could actually see the art in a reasonable light. Sometimes that worked, often not. I would contrast this with the Dumo museum where the art is spectacular AND THEN they make it even better by the setting they place the art in. I can’t say enough good things about that place.
Our guide was fantastic! Knowledgeable, linking the story of the lives of people who had lived in the palace with the rooms & set- she was calm, with warm humour- I loved the art & the small size of the group
Our guide, Camilia (spelling ?) was awesome. She was very knowledgeable and took you to the things you needed to see. We were very happy with our experience !!
Amazing walkthrough tour of the paintings. Our guide was so knowledgeable she really brought the artwork to life. She explained the colors, significance, and story behind the paintings. One of our favorite places we have visited in Florence.
The guide was very informative and helpful. There were so many art pieces in Pitti Palace. There were many Raphael’s work.
Our guide was exceptional!!! The tour was indeed a small group that was only 6 including the guide. I do not think we have ever had such a knowledgeable guide on any tour! And she had a wonderful way of imparting her knowledge. I believe the Pitti gets overlooked because the Uffizi is better known. The ability to see Botticelli’s, Raffaello’s, Caravaggio’s, Tintoretto’s and others up close and personal without being packed in was exceptional! I highly recommend this tour.
Our local tour guide displayed a tremendous knowledge of art and history. We highly recommend this insightful tour.
Loved this tour so much. Our guide was Camilla - an art restorer who understands and knows art to its core (both literally and figuratively). First of all, we went to the wrong place and were slightly late (by like 5-10 min) and someone met us and caught us up with the group which was so nice. Second, Camilla just made the art come alive. She knew what to focus on, the masterpieces, the interesting little known things, she mixed it up and made it come alive. She even asked us to pick out artwork we were curious about and she knew all of it, unprompted, and had such great insight. Pitti palace is way too overwhelming without a guide, imho. There is just overwhelming amounts of art in no particular order, and I think viewing it with a guide is the best way to go. Highly, highly recommend this tour and Camilla!
This tour is not to be missed if you visit Florence!! The building is not much to look at from outside but enter the doors and your breath will be taken away by spectacular works of art inside! Our guide, Sarah, did a phenomenal job describing the palace and all that it holds! After the tour we had a delicious lunch at their cafe inside then we continued our own tour exploring other parts of the palace!
This tour was good but not my favorite tour in Florence. If you are going just for the art you will love it. If you want more insight into the Medici family and see how they lived, you will be disappointed. None of the rooms had any of the original furnishings, just art work.
Great experience and the palace was not crowded at all. I do regret not booking the additional gardens tour with this, but the art and building history is gorgeous and fascinating.
Guide was nice but don’t waste time not interesting just go thru on your own. Too expensive for experience;(
Nice tour with so much art! Lots of paintings, and some furniture from the Medici palace. Good history from our guide as well. Good headsets so we could hear our guide and keep up with the info she shared.
