Itinerary
Leonardo Da Vinci machines are displayed at the Galleria Michelangelo, where the Macchiaioli used to meet, in one of the most renowned streets in Florence city centre. More than 50 models are displayed in four rooms: the largest one is dedicated to civil machines, in the second room flying machines are shown, war machines are to be found in the third and in the fourth the recently developped collection of anatomical models can be admired. Most of the models are real working machines. A documentary on Leonardo Da Vinci’s life and works is displayed on large screen monitors. The gallery has an agreement with Caffé Michelangiolo, the restaurant inside the exhibition area. At the bookshop you will find many publications and gadgets.

Great indoor experience for kids. Plan for about an hour with reading signs and engaging the hands on designs. We actually liked the Brunelleschi portion the best after having visited the Duomo nearby. Four stars instead of five, as some of the hands on activities need to be fixed.
Very interesting to see the exhibits of some of Da Vinci's inventions. The museum is well work a visit.
Great self-guided tour of interactive fun Museum. It was only $24 for two people. No lines, not crowded. Was supposed to only take approximately an hour to go through, my husband and I spent 2hrs playing! It was fairly easy to find easy to buy tickets with English speaking stuff great gift store at the end. We learned a lot about Leonardo da Vinci even guiding ourselves through and had the best fun playing with all the interactive displays.
We all found this museum a positive surprise. Da Vinci was really a man without limits.
Museum ok but not much to interact with or touch. Smaller scale models of some of his inventions. As museums go it was OK, kids would find it alright. Central to city. Small shop inside for books, toys, pens etc. There is another leonardo interactive museum close by with many full scale models to touch and see as they should be and only €8 or €9.
A nice little museum focussing on Leonardos inventions and innovations. If you are wanting to see his paintings, apart from a small display and an electronic touch screen detailing some of his most famous works. A lot of interactive works that are fun for all ages!
Greatest museum ever seen. Amazing what DaVinci could do both in art & inventing. Very nicely set up. Very nice staff.
We really enjoyed this museum. It was astounding at times what one man explored and experimented with in his time, that has had profound impacts on our own. While this was the main DaVinci museum, it had a lot of interactive elements which was a nice surprise. We visited in mid September and there were no lines or crowds. Lovely that ticket lasts all day so you have flexibility as to when to go. We stayed about 1.5 hours.
A great 90minute opportunity to see, enjoy and even touch/try out many of the models. Adults and children alike will appeciate the works and ideas of clearly , a great man
Fun for all ages, very interesting and great value. The staff are very welcoming and the exhibits are set up well
The Leonardo D Vinci Museum is one of the best values per ticket we purchased while in Italy for three weeks. The museum is well done, the exhibits well curated, the placards are we written. It was not crowded the day we were there, so we could take our time at each display. I would highly recommend.
Very good value for money. Good to see Leonardo’s inventions and it definitely give you an insight into the mind of a genius and his life. Would recommend attending. Also the shop could do with having some Da Vinci Themed postcards!
Very enlightening visit really enjoyed this. Didn't realise how much he'd invented & wrote early designs for. Good price
Great value and great experience for the money! I would recommend this museum to everyone (especially families with children as there is a whole lower level dedicated to them)!!!
We were allowed to visit the centre with our Toy Poodle. Given that there are very few places you can visit with a dog in Florence so this was a very welcome way to have a break from the August sun. The team at the desk were lovely and it was great getting to see interactive objects designed from Leonardo's drawings. Also got a photo of our puppy as the Mona Lisa which is so cute!
Wonderful experience , the details of the inventions of Leonardo were great
We visited this museum yesterday and really enjoyed it. It is really well set out and the information provided at each display is great. We spent around 90 mins in there and we didn’t feel rushed. Two hours is probably the maximum time you need. Definitely worth a visit.
I didn’t receive any tickets, I checked any way possible, but I could get the qr codes or anything like that
Excellent experience and I will recommend to everyone that has been in Italy to visit this place
Interesting exhibition with good explanations of his work. Fun working models. Good for children and adults.
It was very interesting to see how Da vinci designs looks in real life but i was more into the artistic side which wasn’t satisfying for me as there is minimal number of his paintings. The voice over was informative but i think if more details were written next to the paintings it would have been more interesting. Overall. It was a nice visit but not a must see!
A fascinating museum that brings Leonardo da Vinci's ideas to life. It was amazing to see working models built from his original sketches, along with many scientific inventions and interactive exhibits. Being able to touch and operate the machines yourself made the visit even more engaging. A unique and memorable experience that I highly recommend!
Overall not a bad experience. Lots of information and nicely laid out, weird you had to scan your ticket to go upstairs to the other part of the exhibition, and then again at the top. If you skinned enough you could easily walk through, very strange. Some, not all, of the exhibits you should have been able to interact with were broken or had bits missing so not exactly as interactive as it could have been. Staff were friendly, and the place was clean I've said I'd recommend, because it's not a bad museum, especially if they fix what is missing or broken, it is worth a visit....never know when you go it may be fixed. They give you directions so you don't go to the other museum. We did both and both have great highlights.
Worth the money, well placed and the staff were friendly and helpful. My kids would have had a great time playing with the inventions !!
The museum is mostly models and toys for children. If you have limited time in Florence, I would skip the museum. There are far more interesting and informative places to visit.
This easy self-guided tour of three floors of exhibits was an eye-opener. The exhibits demonstrate how advanced Da Vinci was for his time in the sciences, engineering, and aeronautics; and how relevant his work is to today, 500 years later.
We arrived a little early and the staff member that greeted us was quite rude, this was a little off putting. We returned later and once inside the museum we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The amount of inventions were impressive and having an opportunity to try many of them out was great. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
What a consummate genius with so many brilliant engineering designs. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Interesting , worth a look Would be difficult if you had children. It can get noisy when there are lots of kids
Loved it! I liked that you could explore all of Da Vinci’s inventions at your own pace. They even had samples you could try out to see them in motion.
Unbelievable history lesson! Much, much more than Art! Good for kids to learn about & DREAM BIG!
Booked a last minute ticket for the wrong day by accident and the staff were very kind and a great help changing the ticket for me. Overall the museum was okay. Not quite what I was looking for as it was more for kids.
Buy your ticket online, it's cheaper. The museum was a nice fun walk through, very informative on Da Vinci's creations and inspirations. A lot of interactive exhibits too, good for kids and adults. Took about 30-45 min to walk through completely. Not too crowded of a place too which was nice.
It is a very interesting museum. There were lots of children on the day we visited, so be patient around the interactive models.
Very interesting for kids and any adult interested in invention and engineering. Very family friendly.
Walk in, no line up. Some parts are geared towards kids, Somme parts towards the big kids. It was lots of fun and informative with lots of information on Da Vinci's works.
The museum had a good amount of reading and interaction to help explain some of the theories behind his ideas.
I like to include at least one hands-on experience during our trips since many of them tend to focus on museums and cathedrals. We’re certainly not children but this was very enjoyable for a retired couple, particularly my husband who is endlessly fascinated by how things work! We learned a lot about Leonardo Da Vinci which was a bonus. Just go. You’ll enjoy it.
Just a mediocre museum. There are better things to see. It was a fill in the time choice. Just for something to do
It's mostly for kids. If you are a group of adults, you're probably not gonna think the 10 euro entrance fee is worth it
Alot of fun to be had in this museum with several of Leonardo's inventions to try out.
It was an excellent museum showing many of the contributions of da Vinci’s engineering, medical recording s and artistry. What an amazing man!
Very educational. You could stay all day. Kids would enjoy the challenging games. Should be no minimum
If you're in Florence and have some time on your hands pop in and visit this museum. It's not as famous as the Uffizi or the others but this is a little gem of a place. With multiple models and descriptions of Da Vinci's inventions you'll learn a lot and see some really neat displays. It's not the most fancy place in the world but if you have 90 minutes or so you can easily see everything here and learn some new things.
The best experience because it was so interactive, price was very reasonable we stay for about 2hrs, your kids will love it, even the little ones, something for everyone. If felt very clean and but there is toilets on the way out to wash hands after touching everything.
This museum caters for all ages and abilities. A really interesting, interactive experience. Fun for all the family
As an engineer, I wanted to see this exhibit. It was interesting but a little disappointing. Aimed at a younger audience I think.
What a great museum. A man of many talents who help invent some of the many items we use today. It has some interactive things which is good for the kids to learn and play. It takes about an hour to go around.
We are 2 over 70 people who had a fun time at hr museum. Lots of hand on things to do as well as explanation of Leonardo’s discoveries.
