Piazzale Montelungo is located 5-10 minutes walking distance from Santa Maria Novella train station. Grab a seat on the comfortable coach bus, and you will shortly depart for the scenic beauty of Val d’Orcia! During the picturesque drive, your guide will dive into some interesting information about the towns and lush land of the Valley. The drive to Val d’Orcia will take about two hours.
After driving through the spellbinding, Tuscan hills, you will be itching to explore one of the fairytale towns! Your first stop will be Montalcino, the land of world-renowned Brunello wine. Follow your guide uphill into the town, as you stroll through labyrinths of cobblestone, medieval streets. Your guide will lead you to a famous Brunello winery. A local producer will lead you through the winery, as he or she explains the secrets of Brunello production. Then, indulge in some samples of some of the finest wines in Italy! Cheers!
You will have some free time after the wine tasting to independently explore Montalcino and enjoy a pleasant, Tuscan lunch on your own. Montalcino is a hidden gem of Tuscany, encompassing the medieval essence of the region. We recommend you walk uphill through the town, until you reach the town's majestic Fortress. Here, you can find breathtaking views of the surrounding rolling hills, ancient oak trees, scenic roads, and perfect vineyards! . The medieval stronghold's impressive stone walls and towers will transport you back in time, evoking its strategic significance in ancient battles. The fortress is not only a historic gem but also a prominent cultural landmark, showcasing the rich heritage of this region. Don't forget your camera to capture the breathtaking landscapes!
After your journey through the rolling hills, you will arrive in Pienza, standing upon a hill and dominating the Orcia Valley with extraordinary views! Your guide will explain that Pienza is different from other towns in Tuscany, as it was rebuilt to be an idealist-Renaissance town by order of Pope Pius II. Enjoy exploring Pienza at your leisure - admire the atmosphere of harmony and peace that surrounds you.
As you walk along the narrow and charming streets of Pienza, you will be captivated by the breathtaking Pienza Cathedral. Located in the town's charming historic center, the cathedral is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture. You'll be enachanted by the cathedral's elegant facade adorned with intricate sculptures and delicate details. Pienza's relaxed atmosphere and charming ambiance make it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Tuscany. Val d’Orcia stands out in Tuscany as being home to some of the most stunning landscapes in the region. If you have ever seen a postcard from Tuscany, it most likely was a photo from Val d’Orcia! Your bus driver will bring you by some of the famous landscapes, so be sure to have your camera ready! Your guide will point out the Chapel of the Madonna di Vitaleta, one of the most photographed spots in Tuscany. This small chapel contrasts magically with the bright, green rolling hills, and it is perfectly framed with a line of cyprus trees. Legend has it that this was the exact spot where Virgin Mary appeared to the shepherds. The bus will also drive by the gladiator’s home in Ridley Scott’s Academy Award-winning “Gladiator.” Although the film primarily focuses on Rome, the gladiator character (played by Russel Crowe) heads home in a serene paradise surrounded by rolling, green hills and cyprus trees. Your guide will explain that this tiny slice of heaven was filmed in Val d'Orcia!
The last stop of your tour in Val d’Orcia will bring you to Montepulciano, home to the exquisite Vino Nobile vineyards. More recently, the town also became a popular destination, as it is where the vampire movie, "New Moon,'' was filmed. Spend an hour discovering the most elegant village in Val D'Orcia - full of magnificent palaces, Renaissance buildings, and imposing churches. There is no better way to finish a tour of Tuscany than with a wine tasting! Meet back with your group, and follow your guide to a wonderful winery in the historical heart of Montalcino. Follow a local producer into the fragrant wine cellar, and learn all about the Nobile wine making process. Then, savor the flavors of the famous Nobile wine! This tasting will be accompanied by some light snacks, made from fresh, local ingredients. Then, purchase any last-minute souvenirs before heading back to Florence.
The bus will take you back to Florence, and you will arrive back in the early evening. Don’t miss out on this magical opportunity to explore the postcard scenery and picturesque, hilltop towns of Val d’Orcia!

This was a great tour! Comfort way of knowing the Val d’Orcia region and our guide Cecia made it wonderful!!
It was a lovely trip down to the South South part of Tuscany. We hit three excellent cities. Our guide was very good. The stops were not what were originally listed, but I feel like it worked in our favor. We do have one complaint. Nothing was mentioned about how much climbing steps there were in Montepulciano. Being older and out of shape that was an issue.
Cecelia was a wonderful guide, one of the very best! Extremely knowledgeable and compassionate-would like to enjoy another tour with her as the guide! The tour was better than expected! Thank you Cecelia!!!!
You get to see the beautiful towns in Tuscany in a day. Wine tastings were also very good. You are on your own to explore the towns so that you get to see based on your choices.
The trip is very great. The guide Lucy is very friendly and the driver is very good at driving
Very nice trip, Tuscany was so incredibly beautiful that I honestly didn’t want to leave! I wish I could have stayed there longer. The breathtaking scenery and charming little towns completely stole my heart. Especially thanks to our amazing tour guide, who was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. The guide made the whole experience even more enjoyable with interesting stories and a great sense of humor. I really enjoyed every moment of this trip and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tuscany. Thank you for such a fantastic experience! Thank you for making this trip such a wonderful and unforgettable experience!
Great tour - see a lot in the day. Our guide Cécilia was really good
Thank you for a wonderful time! The bus was very comfortable. Our guide, Roberto, gave such clear explanations, and his thoughtfulness made it easy and enjoyable even for non-native English speakers. The schedule was relaxed, which was great because we had plenty of time to enjoy ourselves outside of the tasting.
We had a wonderful experience on this tour! Everything was very well organized, and the team was punctual, friendly, and professional. Our tour leader, Roberto, explained all the details of the trip clearly and gave us excellent recommendations that helped us make the most of our day. Our driver, Cosimo, was also great and made the journey comfortable and enjoyable. We really appreciated their attention and care throughout the experience. Highly recommended! Tour date: October 29th.
This day was the gem of our time in Tuscany. Many thanks to our guide Roberto that made our day perfect. We appreciate his informations given during our trip and the music that came with them sometimes. We reccomend this tour as the locations were fabulous. Our driver Cosimo drove saffely and the bus was clean and cosy. Many thanks to them!
Roberto was exceptional!! We had the most amazing day with Brunello wine tasting, gorgeous views of the val’d orcia and beautiful towns of Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino. The driver Cosimo was great!!! Definitely recommend this one!!!
The tour was great and Ana was a wonderful tour guide! Would recommend for those wanting to get a taste of Tuscany.
Ana and our driver valentine were great! Ana is trilingual fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish so she did well with our group! The wine tasting and pecorino cheese was all sooooo good we ordered some to ship home! And you can't explain the views 😍😍
It was very interesting experience. Everything were very comfortable, our guide Antonio told a lot of useful information.
We had an amazing time at Val D'Orcia with the guide Antonio and the driver Cosimo! We booked this tour looking for those iconic Tuscany views and that's what we got it. Beautiful views, delicious wine tasting and we've received a lot of information from the Ciao Florence team. Thank you!
It was very nice trip, the tour guide Mr Antonio is very helpful and proffessinal, everything in the trip is amazing.
The trip was amazing. Lots of great places and good food to experience. Poggio il Castellare was great, lots of good wine. Pienza was our favorite town, amazing streets to walk through and the lunch at Latte di Luna was perfect! The guide Cecilia (cici) was very patient and kind, she spoke surprisingly well and knew a lot of stuff about the places we went (she even spoke Portuguese with us!). Also congrats to driver Antonio for taking us through such narrow and windy roads. Overall amazing tour. Even though the weather was bad, Cecilia made it better with her lightness and the towns were great to visit.
We wanted to have a Tuscan winery experience, and found the wineries quite interesting. It is nice to understand the history of the wine in the region and was great to be within the winery. Unfortunately, it was horribly rainy on the day we went for that tour, and a major portion of the tour included walking around that various villages. At one point I wanted to go back to the bus, but the meeting point was in the village centre, so we were stuck in the city in rains. I also felt that the highest trek for Montepulciano could have been the first stop, and not the other way round. Our guide Cicelia was friendly.
Cecilia was an amazing tour guide! Despite the rain, she went above and beyond to accommodate us and make sure we had a wonderful experience. She was attentive, professional, and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the entire tour. Her positive attitude and dedication made the day truly memorable, even with the unexpected weather. We had an incredible time and couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Thank you, Cecilia, for such a fantastic experience! Highly recommend!
Overall a good experience. Our guide, Cecelia, was great, the drive through the countryside was beautiful, and the three small Tuscan towns that we visited were lovely. The visit to the second winery in Montepulciano was fabulous; the guide there was very engaging and guided us through the full tasting experience of their wines, sharing information about the grapes and the aging process. The first winery visit outside of Montalcino was, however, disappointing. The "guide" gave us a two-sentence "history" of the winery and then we sat down to taste the wines, which were poured with no explanation or information. We had a brochure with the names and descriptions of the wines, but there was no information provided by the winery staff. Also, the Brunello wines of the region are hyped in the tour description and by the guide, but only one of the three wines we tasted at that winery was a Brunello. Additional information that would have been helpful in advance for us: no eating or drinking other than water on the bus and no bathroom on the bus.
This was an excellent tour, a great value for the money. The tour group was a mix of people (Spanish, Brits, Americans, Chinese and some others) and the information presented was in English and Spanish. Daisy was our tour guide and she was fantasic, giving good information on what we were seeing and doing, giving clear direction of where the meeting point was after "free time", and giving suggestions and advice on what to see and do in each of the three towns we stopped at (Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano... as well as Villa Poggiomanzuoli, which is where the home scene in Gladiator was filmed where we stopped for some quick photos). Giancarlo was our bus driver and did a great job of getting us to the towns on time quickly so we had more time to wander, and was right there to pick us up again and take us to the next spot. He also had some good recomendations on things to see and do in Firenze when we returned. The wine tastings themselves were ok. Padelletti Winery in Montalcino was a nice smaller family run winery, that had a great table wine, and a dry Brunello, and the owner is the 27th generation to run the winery and was a pleasant host. The other winery (Talosa) we went to in Montepulciano seemed more rushed and "business like", and only had two wines for us to taste, and just was a different feeling then the first winery. I am not normally a "tour group person", but I actually enjoyed this day with Daisy, Giancarlo and the rest of the group. I met some nice people from around the world, and even if we didnt fully speak the same language, after some wine we all had a good time! The towns were beautiful (lots of steep roads and stairs- be aware), and outside of the winetastings, your involvement with the group was up to you. Daisy would lead the group to the fortezza at Montalcino- or you could wander off and do what you wanted (which is what i did) until having to meet at the apointed time at the rendezvous site. Same thing in Pienza and Montepulciano. Great day- I would do it again!
Very fun tour of small Tuscany towns. The winery tasting were very unique and lovely, and the opportunity to independently explore the towns was very nice. After all the wine, make sure to use the toilet before leaving, otherwise the two-hour bus ride back to Florence will feel twice as long!!
Enjoyable tour. Lucy was great. She did a great job explaining what to expect at each of the stops. Easy to understand. Each stop had it's specialty. The tour was at a good pace.
The tour was enjoyable, although the time at each stop felt somewhat rushed. We had a large group of nearly 60 people, but Lucia and Reynaldo managed everything exceptionally well. All three destinations were absolutely beautiful. My only suggestion would be to skip the winery stops and allow more time to explore and appreciate the beauty and charm of these wonderful places.
My wife and I joined the Val d'Orcia tour during our trip to Italy this October, and it was the highlight of our time in Tuscany. Our guides, Lucy and Ranaldo, made the day special from start to finish. Lucy was warm, knowledgeable and a wonderful storyteller. She brought the history, food and traditions of each village to life in a way no guidebook could, and she was happy to answer every question we had. Ranaldo looked after us with the same care. He was a calm, skilled driver on the winding country roads, made sure we were comfortable throughout, and knew exactly where to stop for the best views of the rolling hills and cypress-lined roads. The day was well paced. We never felt rushed, yet we covered a lot. The landscapes, the hilltop towns and the local food and wine were all beautiful, but it was Lucy and Ranaldo's hospitality that made the experience feel personal rather than like a standard tour. We would recommend this tour without hesitation to anyone visiting Tuscany. Thank you, Lucy and Ranaldo, for a perfect day in the Val d'Orcia.
Lucia and reynaldo are really warm and knowledgeable people. Felt like home. Truly recommended.
We enjoyed our trip with Ciaoflorence. Lucia and Renaldo were great, thank you so much for making the trip memorable
Guide Lucia was very good we had good time
Tere was so much fun - she was energetic and knowledgeable! We had great stops at great wineries and when an unavoidable problem arose at one of the restaurants Tere found alternative options quickly for a large group. My only negative is that there was zero description of the amount of hills and stairs involved. But we made it in the end and overall the trip was a success!
Tere was an excellent host. She is funny, relatable, and informative. She went above and beyond to make sure everyone was engaged and taken care of. She also provided recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants, which made the wandering even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour.
Great guide Juan Marco, great driver Reynaldo and great day. Second of the two tastings was especially good as the sommelier took the time to ensure every knee hos to properly taste a wine for the first time to decide if it was right for them. Other towns visited were good as well as Juan gave us lots of information about each. At the last town I had the opportunity to sing with a street musician. Highlight of my day.
a memorable trip that was wonderfully organized and the tour leader Marco was a delight. he was friendly and had great recommendations. i was a solo traveler but had no problem of feeling “lonely” on this trip and actually had great conversations, if you’re looking to book a trip to this part of Tuscany- book this trip without hesitation.
It's amazing trip.it worth to pay for it.
Good had fun & lots of pictures
Great guide and driver, had a wonderful day and a great experience 😊
The day trip was amazing. Went for it with my wife and a 3 year old son. The experience was great. Cecilia had organised and handed everything perfectly. The group size was perfect and very comfortable.
It was a beautiful experience. Cecilia was a nice guide
We loved the experience, the places were so beautiful and we had plenty time to enjoy each village. The guide Cecilia is awesome, I tottaly recommend it.
A pleasant experience. ! Cecilia , it was very professional and very kind and helpful . The wine tasting it been really nice adventure. Kindly recommend!
It was good, so much to see an so little time unfortunately. We tried 5 different wines and had some free time to walk around three different cities.
Very easy instructions for the pick up point. Nice tour guide and very knowledgeable.
Great tour with beautiful destinations. Multiple stops bit did not feel rushed. Ceci was wonderful!
Cecilia was so nice! The first winery, they did not give us anything to eat either wine (which was 10.30 am). We were not happy with their employees) But overall, it was nice trip.
Ceci was awesome, great guide and great trip! Had time to wander the towns and the wine tastings were good in beautiful locations!
It was a great trip to get a taste of Tuscany. The guide was incredible trying his best to translate to English, spanish and portuguese.
Nice experience! Camila and Reynaldo are the best!
Amazing trip in Toscana ! Camille and Ronaldo were amazing guide and driver !! Truly recommend them for your next trip !! Camille is super nice and careful for the group !
A really great trip seeing some amazing villages in the stunning val d'Orcia. Beautiful day and really good guide in Camila, who made the day run smoothly and efficiently. Highly recommended!
I really enjoyed the trip to Bal d’Orcia and saw some really gorgeous landscapes and towns! Our guide Camille was extremely well organised and would always send us small messages to tell us at what time to get to the meeting points so we wouldn’t forget. And cheers to the driver Renaldo too for getting us out alive from all the spiraling roads!
