Florence: Uffizi Gallery Self Guided Tour

This was a disaster. Visitor uses a local agency called Italy Pass. They did not send our tickets as they were supposed to. After arriving at Uffizi we were told we were not admitted and had to walk through town to find the Italy Pass office to rectify the problem. We had purchased audio tour through Viator but they did not honor it at Uffizi. Poor communication, poor execution.

I’m not sure I would do the audio tour again. If your phone has issues you can’t access it.

You should ONLY book this tour if you are absolutely sure your plans will NOT change. We were delayed in Milan and I sent them a message asking to change our time to the following day as no changes could be made on the booking. The Bot they have managing their customer services is not dynamic. It just sent me my original booking confirmation. Tried messaging on the morning of the day we were headed to Florence....same experience. Needless to say I lost my money (since it non-refundable) and didnt see the galllery.

Horrible experience. I and several coworkers could not open your app and I got n tickets due to a dozen server failures. Nor did the phone work to contact help. Bought another pair of tickets from museum. This was my worst experience in Florence.

The entry ticket is fine, but the audio guide is unusable. Pre-tour information says to download the guide before entering, but the app has no facility to do this. There is limited 4/5G signal in the Gallery, and no public WiFi, so streaming in real time is impossible. If you can get into the guide, once you've reach the second floor, you can't switch between map and audio without exiting, and the Gallery route bears no resemblance to the guide's. This is a truly terrible product, so avoid at all costs. In the Gallery, you can rent an audio guide for €6 and guess what - it works. Other reviews have said the exactly same thing, so the operators clearly don't care, they just want your money.

This was absolutely amazing, the tickets ready on time and facilitated our experience. They were very polite and communicative.

It was great not to have to wait on a long line for tickets. The audio guide provided a wonderful background information to the various exhibits in the museum.

Wear comfy shoes...busy up till the cafe appeared..skip the cafe..bad reviews anyway...2nd half much quieter.

Download and print the ticket? My phone was not working properly that day and the museum wouldn’t let me use the reservation number without the ticket. Finally called and a representative sent the ticket to me via email but I never got the self guided headset to listen to my tour bevcause I didn’t het that ticket which I had paid for.

I am a travel agent and my clients took this tour and had a great time! They had a last minute schedule change and the staff was incredibly helpful and graciously allowed us to move the ticket to the next day. They were responsive and kind and were incredibly understanding of our needs!!

We had a few small changes to our plans during the trip, but the team handled everything without any hassle. They were flexible, responsive, and genuinely focused on making sure we enjoyed our trip.

The Uffizi Gallery was a really good experience, especially if you enjoy art and history. The gallery is huge and there was so much to see, so I’d definitely recommend taking your time and doing the self-guided tour. There are so many famous works inside, including paintings by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and Caravaggio. Some of the highlights include Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, Leonardo da Vinci’s Adoration of the Magi, Michelangelo’s Doni Tondo and Caravaggio’s Bacchus. One of my favourite parts was the view from the windows. You could see Palazzo Vecchio and the Ponte Vecchio, which was beautiful and made the visit even more enjoyable. The atmosphere inside was really impressive and it felt amazing knowing you were surrounded by so much famous art and history. There is an admission fee for the gallery, but I thought it was worth it considering how much there is to see. We spent a good amount of time there because the gallery is so big, and you could easily spend several hours exploring all the rooms. It was quite busy, but that’s understandable for such a famous gallery. The staff were helpful too, and the self-guided experience meant I could go at my own pace. I visited the Uffizi Gallery solo and really enjoyed the experience. I’d definitely recommend it for solo travellers, art lovers, history lovers, couples, families and anyone visiting Florence for the first time. There’s so much to see that I’d definitely recommend making time for it during a trip to Florence.

Only accept cash in restaurant which is not ideal during peak season and a young family! Very congested from room to room and it was a morning ticket. Paintings could be spread out to manage crowd control.

Audio guide did not work. The areas did not support enough Internet and could not download the guide before we went. There for 3hours. Best to do own research before you go. The Michelangelo section was right at the end so it was rushed as they were closing.

I would like to request a review of the amount charged to my credit card. The tickets show a price of $29.00, but I was charged a total of €214.03 by Viator. Could you please explain why the amount charged is so much higher than the ticket price? I would appreciate your assistance in reviewing this charge and clarifying the discrepancy. Thank you.

DO NOT PAY FOR THIS! Apparently Italy pass can just never send you the tickets, and then when you aren’t able to enter the attraction and request a refund, they can deny your refund, claiming that they have “evidence” that the tickets were sent to you, despite the fact that you never received the tickets. Long story short, we didn’t get to see the gallery, and we are STILL out over $100.

The download for the self guided audio portion did not work.

Great opportunity to see one of the famous works of the word artists !! MUST SEE!

This gallery is beautiful, overcrowded but overall beautiful and totally worth the wait and the effort in organizing this visit before you get there

wish we had a guide but great museum

Marcelo our tour guide was wonderful! It was our third time visiting the Vatican and we saw so many new things! He even provided great advice about visiting St Peter's Basilica after our Vatican tour.

If you want to see the Gallery you should not take a bus. You need private transportation to Florence. Buses cannot go into Florence, and it's a long walk to and from. We took a bus booked through Viator. We were told we had plenty of time. That was not true. By the time we walked to the Gallery we had less than an hour before we had to leave and start back to catch the bus. You need hours to do justice to a trip to the Gallery.

The museum was amazing. The audio tour was a bit confusing as it did not tell about every room and skipped from display to display. That being said the information on the audio was very informative.

The ticketing was easy, although don’t forget the aviator ticket is not the actual ticket and we had lots of problems with the audio hide. Use one from the Uffizi instead.

We booked mainly to skip the queue. Very busy but plenty of great Art and history. We added the digital guide from Viator which didn't work at all.

DO NOT BOOK THIS SCAM. i booked for a tour with an audioguide. The audioguide DOES NOT WORK inside Uffizi gallery. We ended up paying extra 12 euro for the in-house audioguide, which is fine. Bombarded with message from the tour operator prior to the date, but requests for refund remain unanswered.

No advantage that I can see to book here unless admittance is sold out on Uffici site. The audio guide is app based and very incomplete and not up to date.

Incredible and you can spend a half day there easily. That being said, the audio that came with my Trip Advisor entry tickets was absolutely the worst. We should have rented the audio from the gallery when we got there. Buy your tickets in advance to avoid the long lines but do not get the audio that you download to yourself phone under any circumstances. The numbers coded do not match the numbers in the gallery, and the application keeps shutting down. It doesn't matter if you add the app to your phone or not. It doesn't work properly or narrate well. I am a long time TripAdvisor fan but this audio download to my cell phone was a waste of money.

Me and my wife visited the museum today. I previously bought the tickets from the museum website including the Audioguide. We paid an extra 8€ for this audioguide service (35+8=43€ each). As advised by the museum we download the complete audioguide to our phones at home long before arriving to the museum. Today, when we arrived there, my wife's audioguide simply did not work at all and mine worked but several things where not correctly shown and the order of the art pieces where shown in incorrect places. A few things simply did NOT work at all. It was really a terrible experience and we felt that we wasted our money. More... we were surprised to see that the audioguide that you could get at the museum was less expensive, only 6€ and we paid 8€. This is really a bad service that made our visit a bad experience and I can not recommend it at all. I'm sharing this so that other visitors are not deceived as we were. It is a shame that an important museum as yours sells a product like this !!! Nuno Melo

I am sure the chances of getting in without a ticket bought in advance are slim to none however the ticket should be renamed 'advance' ticket not skip the queue. Massive queue taking ages until you actually get in. You are then faced with a very busy gallery with further queues to see some exhibits. Also faced with lots of people more concerned about their social media channels etc getting the perfect video/pics etc i.e. obvious to others and just standing in the way. Yes some lovely works of art but overall felt disappointed. If you like to stand around in queues then highly recommended.

The gallery was fine but instructions on the audio guide were not clear. I got over there in the line and asked about the audio guide and they told me they had no wifi to be able to download the guide so I had to rent one there which was an extra 6 Euro.

I paid viatior for an audio guide I had to pay again to get one. Too many people in the museum... at moment you see more phones taking pictures than the pictures. Tourismn s killing this city

Highly recommend see the rich culture of the Renaissance. So many collections of the paintings and sculptures of the famous artists.

Great for entry tickets but YOU HAVE TO BRING YOUR OWN HEADPHONES & DOWNLOAD TICKETS/GUIDE PRIOR TO GETTING THERE! Learn from our mistakes - I did not realize you had to bring your own headphones and so that was a huge bummer because we couldn't listen to the guide since we didn't have service once we got there.

No audio since no wi fi in museum

Loaded with incredible art and the views of the city from the building enhances the experience. Botticelli, Michelangelo, DaVinci, many others. You must visit if you are in Florence. We booked access to the museum with audio guide.

I was not provided with adequate information regarding: ticket pick-up. Only upon chatting with Viator did I receive such information. Viator representative was not readily visible at site. As a result, I had to purchase tickets again at a cost of 50 Euros. One hour after my appointed time, I received a man email from Viator with directions and attached tickets. Once again, the only information sent to me prior to appointed time was a voucher with no tickets attached nor clear directions as to where Viator representative would be. Very frustrated and disappointed, especially as all other tours booked with Viator were wonderful!

We booked this tour with audio guide and the Gallery charged us again for the audio guide. We were allowed to enter prior to our scheduled time. This must be standard practice, the gallery was too crowded to really enjoy the exhibits. We were disappointed overall.

Very expensive using get your guide. Ticket eventually sent showing a lower price than what I’d paid and the audio guide never arrived. When the tickets arrived they were for a later time with a different time for each of us. Galleries overcrowded and having bought the gallery’s audio guide (the get your guide one not having arrived), it was hard to get close enough to the picture to see the number to input to the guide. The should display it clearly on the wall. Nevertheless impressive in its quantity although positioning often a bit bizarre. They say the “ Stendhal effect” is where people become overwhelmed by the beauty of the exhibits but it is more likely the exhaustion of battling your way through crowds fiff e.g. a glimpse of a few famous paintings.

The experience was great. The company where I bought the ticket was very helpful. I booked a wrong date and they helped me to reschedule the date in a couple of minutes. Highly suggested to buy tickets.

The audio was difficult to follow so we wasted quite a bit of time figuring it out. It would be helpful for audio to match the layout of the gallery.

Arrive early, book early look for the door numbers on the building across street to meet your tour organizer and get your headphones. Great experience

Beautiful gallery, rich culture, stunning art. It was busy, but you could look round quite easily.
