The directions to meet at Sergio’s Bar are not very clear in order to get into the catacombs; if I had not been persistent, I would have missed getting into the sites. I was told to wait for someone outside of the bar, but, as far as I knew, no one showed up. The Opera Museum is especially interesting.

Itinerary
Located just behind the Duomo, the museum showcases an extraordinary collection of original sculptures, reliefs, and architectural elements that once adorned the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Baptistery of San Giovanni, and Giotto’s Bell Tower. Highlights include Michelangelo’s moving Pietà Bandini, Donatello’s expressive Magdalene, and the original panels of Ghiberti’s Gates of Paradise. With beautifully curated spaces and stunning reconstructions, the museum offers a fascinating journey through centuries of faith, creativity, and Florentine genius.
Beneath Florence’s Cathedral lies the Crypt of Santa Reparata, an evocative archaeological site revealing the ancient layers of the city’s spiritual history. Visitors can explore the remains of one of Florence’s earliest Christian basilicas, dating back to the 4th–5th century. Among the ruins are intricate mosaics, ancient tombs, and structural foundations that predate the current Duomo. The crypt also houses the final resting place of Filippo Brunelleschi, the brilliant architect of the cathedral’s dome. A visit to the crypt offers a rare and fascinating glimpse into the city’s early Christian roots and the architectural evolution of its most famous landmark.
The Baptistery of San Giovanni, located in front of Florence’s Cathedral, is one of the city’s oldest and most significant religious buildings. Dating back to the 11th century, it is celebrated for its striking Romanesque architecture, its intricate marble façade, and especially its three sets of magnificent bronze doors, including the famous “Gates of Paradise” by Lorenzo Ghiberti. Inside, visitors are awed by the stunning Byzantine style mosaics that decorate the octagonal dome, depicting scenes from the Last Judgment. The Baptistery is a true jewel of Florentine history and a must-see for lovers of art, faith, and architecture.
Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence’s magnificent cathedral, is one of the most iconic landmarks in Italy and a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Built over centuries, the cathedral dominates the city skyline with its majestic red-tiled dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, a true marvel of engineering and vision. The interior is vast and serene, adorned with stunning frescoes, stained glass windows, and intricate marble floors. Highlights include Giorgio Vasari’s massive Last Judgment fresco inside the dome and the beautiful clock above the entrance, still working according to a unique 24-hour system. Visiting the cathedral is a journey through faith, art, and history, a symbol of Florence’s cultural and spiritual heart.

Yaniel of Accord Italy Smart Tours and Experiences was excellent highly recommend this tour guide and tour it was amazing and due to Yaniel who was knowledgeable but also caring and friendly made my trip to Florence a great memory
Would definitely recommend this purchase. Skip the line - sort of, you were able to enter through a side door. It is definitely worth the price of the ticket. The other museums included were a bonus.
Do this in advance and once you’re there, check the closing times of the various sights. I was told to go to the baptistery first, then I went to the opera, thinking I’d save the duomo for last. Unfortunately, that made me too late to enter the duomo and I completely missed out. Thought it closed around 5:15 but it really closed around 3:15. Tried to get tickets a few days later, but all was sold out.
The best part, the museum. The rest is worth it to get in without lines, but the interior part is quite disappointing
