Waited 25 minutes for the tour guide in the designated park, looking for a guide with a raised pirate flag but never found him/her & have no idea what happened. Tripadvisor was great to work with & the amount of money paid was quickly refunded.
Armando was a delightful and seasoned tour guide who combined historical knowledge, practical tips and genuine kindness during our informative visit. We had never been on a free walking tour so didn’t know what to expect. On all counts our expectations were surpassed thanks to our excellent guide. Thank you Armando from your favorite Belgian couple.
Excellent guide. Very interesting with lots of hints and tips about food, shopping and life in Italy. An interesting walk, at a nice pace. Well worth doing at the start of your trip.
Great introduction to the history and architectural monuments of Florence from a native. The pace was relaxed (even if Florence, in general, isn't - very busy!), and we hit our marks right on time.
Deborah gave us an incredible tour of Florence through the stories of the Medicis. Thorough and full of stories that brought the sites to life. A must tour on your first day in Florence to help you understand and get acclimated to the city. Thank you, Deborah!!!
Our guide Alessandro was very personable and knowledgeable about the history, which we appreciated. Large group which was fine for this. He had a lot of good tips for seeing the main tourist attractions and a few restaurants and gelaterias; would be good to do this tour at the beginning of a Florence visit.
Nice overview of the city on our first afternoon. The walking tour really helped us get oriented, and our guide had wonderful food and shopping recommendations. Not knowing much about the Medicis in advance, some of the history was too detailed for us - but that's a personal preference.
A good tour for first time visitors
Armando was fantastic! We booked this for the day of our arrival as a way to get oriented to the layout of the major sites in Florence. We got so much more than that. As a local, Armando is a charming, knowledgeable ambassador and a fantastic storyteller. And he is an amazing source for restaurant recommendations too that guided every meal we had in Florence! This tour really is the perfect way to start your stay.
It was great! Our guide, Deborah, was fantastic and a wealth of knowledge, including interesting historical scandalous behavior. A must when visiting the city!
This was our favourite activity in Florence! We learnt so much from our guide Armando who was so knowledgable, attentive and charming. He covered so much of Florence’s history and culture, which we would not have learnt otherwise. The tour was a full 2.5 hours which meant it was very in depth and we got to see the historical sites as well as some recommended local shops and traders. This was an excellent tour! Grazie mille Armando!
Honestly such a fun and informative walk around Florence. Our guide Armando was really knowledgeable, charming and funny. He brought everything to life through interesting stories and anecdotes and pointing out so many small details that we would never have spotted ourselves. He also gave some really helpful advice for seeing attractions in more depth on our own and recommendations on a couple of good places to eat. Do give it a go - around 2.5 hours at a gentle pace and a good intro to some of the many highlights of Florence.
Deborah was a very articulate guide who gave us a very comprehensive summary delivered with humour
Our guide, Armando, made this tour truly special. He was so charming, knowledgeable, and entertaining. He gave us history we never would have known and took us to places we could not have known about. He told us where and when to buy tickets to locations of interest and kept us moving along at a perfect pace to see everything he wanted to show us. He was just wonderful and brought the city to life for us.
The walking tour is great start to see the sites of the city and to get your bearings. The wonderful guide shared his favourite places to eat, or have a cheeky wine from one the the wine doors. The tour is a must for sorts time visitors to Florence.
Aaron was our guide and Ferdinand the driver. The tour was well organized and it keept times perfectly. The time in Pisa was enough for the highlight. S. Gimignano is well conservated and the wine tour was great. We had the vegan option for lunch and it was satisfactory. No proteins avaliable. Siena guided tour is worth the experience as we love to hear the history of the cities we visit.
We had a great experience on our walking tour of Florence! The tour was very well paced, with plenty of time to take in the beautiful sights without ever feeling rushed. Armendo was friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable, and he shared lots of interesting information and history throughout the tour. It was a great way to see the city and learn more about Florence at the same time. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Florence!
Fabulous tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and interacted very well with a large group. Would highly recommend
Great city tour with knowledgeable guide that brings real knowledge and some humour to the 2hr walk around key sites
Guide was superb (Anando?). So much great info. These tours make learning history fun.
Armando was a wealth of knowledge! Very entertaining! Also, the length of the tour was perfecto! Thank you, Armando!
Excellent guide. We had an amazing time. Our guide was really enthusiastic and fun! I also appreciated how he always tried to keep us in shade, even though it was a sunny day
Aswell as a lot of historic information, Alexandro had tips on good places to eat and shop. He was a great guide. It took 2 hrs start to finish, which is just the right amount esp in 30+ degree heat.
Great tour that covers the main sights of florence! Our tour guide was very informative and shared interesting facts about the city.
Our guide was great and the tour was well organized! We hit all the major spots and learned a lot about the city.
We had a brilliant funny guide! So much information and recommendations. Highly highly recommend
Armando is the best! He's extremely passionate, has such a charming way of explaining everything, and he's so very kind & funny. It was a delight walking around the city with him. He makes everyone fall in love with Florence . And obviously me too 💖💖 even though I live in Rome and it’s not my first time visiting this fantastic city. I could not recommend this tour enough, it was a wonderful start in getting to know Florence and it's history. I’ll absolutely repeat this experience and force my friends to come with me next time!
Wonderful tour and a great guide. I love walking tours and this tour in Florence was wonderful . The guide was knowledgeable, humorous and indeed local Italian :) I highly recommend.
Armando was an excellent guide. Very informative about things to do and places to eat. Loved the ear piece and enjoyed his good humour. We spent an enjoyable 2. 5 hours with him. Would highly recommend.
Great to do your first day in town for history, and main spots to see. Two hours well spent. Organized. Earpiece was efficient.
Absolutely perfect! Armando is the best tour guide!!!!Amazing experience.
Armando was such a great guide for our walking tour of Florence. He was very aware of the intense heat of the day and ensured we made regular stops in the shade for him to explain each point of interest . He included all members of the group on his explanations and his passion and enthusiasm for his subject was infectious. He helped make our first visit to Florence both interesting but entertaining. Thank you so much !
Great introduction to Florence and its history. Was a good starting point for our visit to the city. Armando our guide was excellent and gave lots of tips for things to do and places to eat.
Detailed and informative tour with fantastic views of the city.
The tour was good and the guide was very good, but he ended the tour on the edge of Santa Croce Square, which was full of pickpockets and other tours ending simultaneously. After 37 years of traveling all over the world, my wallet was stolen, which has caused a nightmare. The tour could have ended in a safer place. The police told me Santa Croce is the worst place in terms of safety.
Camilla was an excellent guide very knowledgable. We really enjoyed it.
Camilla was very informative, sincere and knowledgeable. She provided us with a lot of context and insight into the history and culture of the era. She also made recommendations for places to eat and explore. Superb!!
Great experience. Our guide Camilla was great and we learned so much about Florence from her. Definitely recommend
The guide was very knowledgeable and showed all the expected sights, giving additional information about galleries, opening times and prices as we went. Would thoroughly recommend for anyone wanting an introduction to Florence .
Armando was very knowledgeable! He was entertaining and gave lots of practical information! It was hot, though, and I was ready for the tour to be over when it was.
A wonderful way to see Florence for the first time.. Alessandro was very knowledgeable and entertaining so it was very enjoyable.
We booked this walking tour through Viator, drawn in by the low cost, good reviews, tip what you can model advertised in the listing. Unfortunately the experience didn’t match the description. Finding our guide was unnecessarily difficult. We were told to look for a pirate flag, but there was no flag in sight, and several other tour groups were meeting in the same spot, so we ended up going group to group asking if we were in the right place. A clearer signal, like a flag with the company name on it, would make this much easier for future guests. Armando was warm and welcoming at first, and he encouraged questions and participation. But as the tour went on, he grew visibly frustrated when our group asked things he didn’t seem to know the answers to, eventually telling us he didn’t have time to address our questions despite having invited them. We spent a disproportionate amount of time at the Duomo, which felt like padding to kill time, and we stopped at his friend’s sandwich and wine shop where he encouraged purchases and then seemed impatient waiting on people to complete their purchases. The actual sightseeing could have easily been done in about an hour and a half without all the filler. The most disappointing part was what happened with the tip. The listing is explicit that tipping is optional and should be based on your own budget, and we tipped in good faith based on that. At the end of the tour, Armando reacted with visible frustration at the amount and called us out about it in front of the entire group. This was unprofessional and put a bad taste in our mouth after what had already been a mediocre experience. We’d also encourage Viator to rethink how this is set up. If there is an expected tip amount, that should be stated clearly on the website up front rather than left vague. Better yet, the tour should be priced higher so guides are paid fairly for their work and are not relying so heavily on tips from patrons to make a living. No guide should be pressuring guests or dictating what they are required to tip, and no guest should be made to feel judged for tipping in good faith based on the information provided at booking. Finally, we we’re also notified by one of our hotels in Italy that tipping wasn’t an expectation in Italy.
Very informative and fun tour. Great guide. Visited the most crucial sights regarding the history of Florence.
Fantastic tour guide. Gave a great sense of history and context. Great local recommendations.
The guide was excellent, extremely knowledgeable and very entertaining. The tour was over 2hours; every minute was worth it!
Great way to start our visit to Florence our guide Armando was really friendly and gave us loads of interesting history and tips on where to go
Camilla was so knowledgeable, passionate about the history, and clear in her explanations. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Camilla would seek shade to explain things which I was so grateful for in 36 degree heat! Thank you so much Camilla. The tour company provide headsets. Just bring water/ snacks.
Excellent fantastic walking tour of Florence. Guide was very knowledgable and funny. We were shown lots of places of interest and given lots of history info as well as tips on places to eat, best ice cream and were to buy leather goods. Can’t recommend this tour highly enough.
Armando was an excellent story teller and guide! We did this tour right when we arrived in Florence and it was a great introduction to the historical center of town and helped us get comfortable with where to find everything. Armando gave a lot of great advice that was very useful. Highly recommend as an intro tour.
