Itinerary
Get an introduction to the history of the Italian Renaissance on a walking tour of Florence city center, and discover a host of historical monuments with the help of a local guide. You will see first the outside of the Church of Santa Croce, the principal Franciscan church of Florence with its wonderful frescoes.
Then it is on to Piazza dei Peruzzi and the Bargello Palace. A short walk will bring you to the Porcellino market and here your guide will tell you all about Ponte Vecchio, Florence’s oldest bridge dating back to the 14th century.
Wander around small streets that date back to the Middle Ages to arrive at the political heart of the city at Piazza della Signoria. Get impressive views of the Uffizi Gallery and Palazzo Vecchio, historically the home of the government of Florence.
Arrive in Piazza del Duomo in the oldest part of the city. Marvel at the marble engravings and the magnificent dome of the Duomo, the baptistery's paradise door and Giotto's bell tower.
Continue to the Basilica di San Lorenzo, from where you can explore the market district by yourself.

Stefania, our private guide was brilliant extremely iinformative, fun, and a great way to learn about Florence A treasure of experience!
Our guide Aurora was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and encouraged questions with a friendly attitude
Giuilo was our tour guide. Because this was later in October, we were the only two people on this tour. Giulio adjusted the pace of the tour slightly to fit our pace and tendency to wander off course taking photos. He took his time showing us around the major attractions in Florence, making sure we watched our step with curbs and traffic while explaining the history of Florence. He patiently answered all of our questions and made suggestions for what to see in our extra days in Florence. This was an excellent tour to begin our vacation in Florence. Would highly recommend this tour.
Aurora was fantastic! Super knowledgeable and showed us many hidden gems including restaurants! This is my fourth time to Florence and I found out new fun facts!
Julio did a great job of teaching us about Florence on our first day. This was an excellent way to become familiar with Florence!
This is a must do for the first time traveler to Florence. Our guide went over historical facts about the Medici Family, Dante, Machiavelli and the statue of David. It goes beyond the great shopping and dining.
Great way to learn about Florence. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and it was nice being in a small group.
Nice and casual. It was like walking around Florence with your best friend. We saw numerous sites, and heard many many stories about life in Florence and it's history.
Gave us a good overview of the city and its history. Liked the personal anecdotes about the city and its people
Our guide was supremely knowledgeable, friendly and lovely. She answered so many questions and truly brought this magnificent city to life. A small group so we had lots of attention. Highly recommend this tour.
Glenda did an amazing job. Her knowledge of the history of Florence is fantastic. Since no one else signed up for the tour at the time, I had a private tour with her. She pointed out sites that I would have never noticed on my own. I would highly recommend Glenda and this tour. She also gave recommendations on shopping for leather and gold. She also pointed out her favorite coffee bar, Gilli. Grazie Mille, Glenda!
Think our fab guide was called Giulio - he changed the walk depending on how far/fast we wanted and his knowledge and passion for history was contagious. Made for the best possible first day and would recommend as he has so much to help you get maximum benefit out of your stay depending on your preferences. Thank you!
I would like to give a tip how do you do that. We loved it guide was wonderful she was very knowledgeable and kind, the city was clean and beautiful. We loved our guide, great value just the right time
Our tour guide Giacomo was excellent! He knows Florence very well, the history, the architecture and the stories behind. We enjoyed the tour very much.
We had a great time. Glenda did an excellent job. 💚 She showed the beautiful city of Florence and its history.
It was a nice walk around the city, and the guide was also very nice. I think it was somewhat lacking in information, like the tour could have been a bit more filled with nuggets of information... But maybe i'm just picky! it was a rainy day so part of the time we were sheltering from rain :)
A very informative tour. Our group was only 4 which I think made it easier. The guide was lovely, I don't know how she remembers it all.
This was a nice walking tour, not too long and our guide Glenda was amazing. We were lucky enough that our tour was private as everyone else had cancelled and Glenda took us around the city and told us all about it. We took the night tour which was nice and things were not as busy. The tour ended at a nice late night snack time at the central market food court.
We had a great time on this tour! 2 of our 3 people had never been to Florence and this tour provided a great option for hitting the highlights of Florence. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who only has a few days in Florence. We used the information from this tour to check out additional tours and museums based on the information and recommendations provided by our guide, Glenda.
This tour better then we could have imagined! The weather was horrible but our tour guide Glenda still gave us the best tour we could ask for. She was very knowledgeable and answered many of our questions!!
This tour was exactly what we were looking for. A perfect opportunity to get our bearings in Florence and to get a sense of what we might like to revisit in subsequent days. Our guide, Daniel, was great -- with lots of wonderful suggestions of what a person might want to do and see in Florence. We took several of his suggestions in the days that followed and -- in so doing -- found our way to some really special Florence experiences.
Everyone should do this walking tour the very first thing when they get to Firenze - the guide was very knowledgeable and gave us all the necessary details as to how to navigate the streets and find the best attractions. We went thru’ the best of Firenze in about 2-3 hours giving us enough information to spend more time at each museum or site on our own .. we even got introduction to shopping in Firenze including the infamous leather artifacts ..
While visiting Italy, we were based in Rome and had a free day to travel to Florence. This two hour walking tour was a great way to see the main sites in Florence. Daniel, our tour guide, gave us great insights into the most famous places and discussed the history of the city including the Medici Family, Dante and, of course, Michelangelo. We would highly recommend this tour. Daniel also helped us map out the rest of our day and even gave us some great recommendations for lunch!
Thank you Glenda for the interesting sightseeing walking tour. To discover Florence by night was really a pleasure, it seemed another city, much quieter.
Glenda was a terrific guide on our evening sightseeing tour of Florence. We definitely felt more comfortable exploring the city on our own after this tour!
Had a nice tour with our guide. Very detailed and gave a thorough explanation of everything we were looking at. Saw pretty much all the highlights. She kept checking in with us to ensure we were good. Solid tour!
Our guide Daniel met us at the station and tailored our walk to our specific wants. Two hours probably wasn’t long enough but we were ready for a rest and enjoyed our lunch at a restaurant recommended by Daniel. An excellent and interesting tour.
We really enjoyed our walking tour of Florence. It's so much better going on a small group tour as your guide ( in our case Glenda ) can interact with you on a very personal level and can make the story of Florence come alive in a much more interesting way than when you are in a huge group. Glenda was really friendly and informative and told us lots of interesting snippets of information as well as giving us all the historical facts about this beautiful city. I would really recommend this company and found the tour well worth the money especially if you only have a short time to see the many fabulous attractions Florence has to offer.
This was amazing- exactly what we wanted. We did this tour shortly after we arrived in Florence. This gave us the opportunity to see how truly Florence is a walking city and what to expect and to make sure we didn't miss. We loved our tour guide, Alicea, she was very knowledge and fun! Thank you!
We had a wonderful time in Florence, although very hot, we had a guide to ourselves who shared many stories about the architecture and history of Florence on a morning walking tour. The shops, food and scenery were amazing - only wish we had more time to explore - we had to be back on a bus to the cruise port by 3:30 which does cut the day short - we'll have to return to see more.
We had a wonderful and very informative walking tour to see the major sites in Florence. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learned a great deal.
Our tour guide Glenda customized the walking tour to our interest. Great guide and 2 hours was the perfect amount of time. We covered many areas and Glenda keep the tour moving while relying interesting stories of Florence.
We were lucky enough to be the only 2 on the tour, Daniel was a fantastic tour guide, very informative and very easy to talk too, would highly recommend him and the company for a tour
Glenda, our guide was wonderful. Her English was good and her knowledge of the history of Florence exceptional. She showed us many interesting spots. Gave us an interesting history of each and answered every question we had. Very worthwhile experience. Thank you Glenda!
My son and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful introduction to the wonderful Firenz! Thomas, our guide, was very pleasant, articulate, informative and fun. He was also very nice to also find us shade while we listened to the wonderful History of Florence and its beautiful sights and art. Thank you Thomas! We enjoyed your wit as much as the history, especially dialect insights for your lineage and the lack of pronunciation of "k" :) take care and best wishes! Bev and Connor
Very good and informative tour. Focused information and not exaggerated. Very well organized and well versed guides.
Guide was very good. All main sites covered at a good pace. Lots of interesting bits, you would not get in the guide book Small group so no issue hearing the guide or asking questions.
The guide determines whether a tour is enjoyable or not. We booked this tour based on the positive reviews, yet our experience was quite dissatisfying due to limited knowledge and the dry interpretation of the guide. Net net: manage your expectation when you book a tour like this - it's like Russian roulette if you get a solid guide or a less experienced one. Details: We went on the evening tour on this past Sunday when we first arrived in Venice. We have gone on a dozens of walking tours, paid and free, in other cities. In general, tour like this offers stories, history, culture, and tips for how to enjoy the place. This one we had was by far the least informative. The pros: - Our guide is friendly, polite, and honest. We can tell that she is a nice person and genuinely want to deliver a good job through her smile. She is clear on what she doesn't know, and would look up the information on her phone. - We covered the points mentioned in the description. - Our guide showed up on a Sunday night 7pm. We are grateful for people working on holidays and evenings. - It's not as hot as the night falls! Recommend you consider an evening tour, and hope the guide has grown to be more informative/entertaining. The cons: - Dry interpretation, seems to be memorizing off a cheatsheet. There was no story, but more of a "this is ... that is ..." style introduction. I find it hard to relate to her and her narration. - Lack of knowledge of Florentine history: she showed us the formerly-Jewish-quarter-turned Republic square. We asked her the relationship between the Jewish and the Christians in Florence, and she said "it's good" and that's it. We wondered if she didn't understand our question. - No knowledge on the general tips of navigating Florence. When we asked her where we should line up to get into the Duomo the next day, she didn't know. - No information on local's life: She'd point to a hole in the way, and say "this was how Florentines used to buy wine", but not mentioning anything of the food and wine culture of the locals. We didn't learn anything about where Florentine's hang out, or tips about restaurants. - The tour lasted 1hr 40min, as compared to the advertised 2 hours. - A touch unprofessional: Our guide was on the phone messaging and taking photos of a cute dog. We really hoped we would like this tour, but find our curious minds unsatisfied. We came to our hotel binged watching a few youtube videos on Florence to finally feel a bit better.
Loved this tour! We took it the day we arrived so it acclimated us to the area. Definitely recommend!
We did this walk after we’d been in Florence for two days and had mostly sorted our way around. On reflection It would have been better to book this earlier. Possibly on the day of arrival. The guide was knowledgeable but to be honest we didn’t really learn a lot as had done so much exploring on our own with guidebooks and 4G!
The gentleman who did our Tour was from Portugal but has lived in Florence for 30 year's was the best walking tour guide we have ever had. He was extremely informative and we came across things that puts are different perspectives on the city.
Duccio Tiracorrendo of Guide Florence Tours accompanied us on a half day tour of Florence. He is a very knowledgeable guide explaining the history of the various sites in a very simple and understandable way. We highly recommend this gentleman.
Our guide Martina, was very knowledgeable of her history of Florence and the Medici Family. We heard all about different architecture and artists of this wonderful city. Martina was very informative and easy to get along with, she gave us a list of local eateries and shops to visit. We tried them and bought and were very pleased with what we found. Thank you Martina.
This tour delivered on its promise. It’s a great orientation to the sights of Florence and will help you plan the rest of your trip. I would highly recommend taking this tour at the beginning of your trip if you’re going to do it at all. Daniel was very knowledgeable and was happy to answer other questions (outside of the planned art/history talking points). He also pointed us to some of his favorite eateries and even took us directly to his favorite sandwich shop (All’Antico Vinaio) after our tour was over. Thanks Daniel!
This guided tour was perfect to see all the main places of historic importance in Florence. We learned loads of interesting facts and our guide Julia was super lovely and made the experience really relaxing.
We had a whirlwind 24-hours in Florence and very little time to waste. Some of our group had been previously but it was the first time for our teenage daughter and we wanted her to get an overview of the city and its history. We felt fortunate to have Daniel all to ourselves even though we have booked a group tour. Daniel was delightful - knowledgeable and patient with all our questions. It was an extraordinarily windy day and he did his best to shield us and make sure we could all hear him. His English was excellent and his passion for his work was clear. We covered a lot in 2 hours and it provided a wonderful overview of an incredible place and helped us build a to-do list for a future, longer visit. Very pleased with our experience and would recommend without reservation.
Awesome walking tour! Learned a ton about the history of Florence. Daniel was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about Florence. Also loved the small group of 6 - makes it more personable. Thanks for the great tour Daniel!
Our guide was very helpful, although the summer crowds were a bit daunting. Fortunately the tour allowed us to skip the massive lines in many places.
This was an excellent way to orient ourselves to the city. We were fortunate enough to have just three persons in our group which meant that we could engage in an ongoing conversation with our guide for the better part of three hours!
