I enjoyed the Dark Heart of Florence tour with Stefano. I expected a little more ghost-y or macabre history, but it was fine. The city is beautiful at night. The history of all the powerful families was very interesting. What I didn't like was the little audio earpiece, it sat very precariously on my ear and fell off whenever I looked up.

A wonderful tour - well paced, interesting and interactive. Would highly recommend!
This was a lovely nighttime walk through the city of Florence with Stefano who narrated wonderfully and really showed passion and knowledge about his beloved Florence. Learnt a lot about the history of the powerful families and all their shenannagins. Really worth the time and money.
We did the Dark heart of Florence tour on the last night of our holiday, was a great way to see parts of the city we hadn’t already explored & hear all about its history, Marcello was an excellent guide, so knowledgable & it was great to listen to the stories whilst weaving though the relevant streets, a definite must for anyone interested in hearing about Florence’s most historically powerfully families & the scandals that accompanied them, a great way to end our holiday ☺️
This is our third experience with this company that began with some frustration and confusion. We were early as was asked, but no one was there, no sign, nothing. When our guide arrived he quickly gave us our headphones and we were off on time. It was very interesting hearing some of the details of Florence’s past, and the places we explored. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of booking into the Cathedral in Siena first thing the next day, so we had to leave halfway through. Would I recommend it? Yes.
The tour was interesting and informative and Stefano was an excellent guide telling us so many dark stories. He even helped us secure a taxi for the following morning after we asked him for help. I was concerned because the tour company had rescheduled us from earlier in the week, but it was completely worth the wait.
Very informative and fun way to see parts of Florence at night when it is less crowded. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. having radio headsets was very helpful to hear him during the entire walk. Make sure to get some gelato at the end.!
Very good walking tour covering several landmarks in 1.5 hrs. Stefano was very knowledgeable about local history.
okay tour which gives you a good insight into florence, a little boring to be honest however maybe that’s personal preference, some on the tour really really enjoyed it
Really enjoyed this evening history tour. Our guide was Stefano. He had a lot of knowledge about the history of Florence and the ruling families of the Renaissance. The audio devices provided were great. As someone who sometimes has difficulty hearing in crowded places this allowed us to hear every word. We did cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. Which may be difficult if you have mobility issues. I would definitely recommend this tour.
The guide has lots of info and not so well known facts. He did a good job but not a very animated speaker
Stefano was a wonderful guide and storyteller, and it was such a fun way to spend our evening. We loved seeing some lesser known corners of Florence and hearing all about its history from such a knowledgeable source, and being at night gave it a great ambiance. The pacing was perfect with ample breaks between walking. Highly recommend!
We liked the idea of a night walk and Stefano was a great host. He led us around the lanes and alleyways and past ancient buildings and bridges and gave us an interesting insight into the wealthy families of Firenze and of course their loves and betrayals. We learnt a lot and would recommend this tour as the City looks beautiful by night .
The guide is knowledgeable and certainly knows his history about the Medici family. We felt this tour was a bit too long; by the time we reached Ponte Vecchio, we were both done.
Be ready to walk! Wear good shoes. This was a great way to orient ourselves on our first night. We enjoyed the tour but found ourselves losing focus amidst the details after an hour. Still, we recommend it as it introduced us to many places that we were able to revisit in following days.
I cannot understate the amount of insightful knowledge and historical facts that are delivered on this tour. Marcello was my guide and he provided and incredibly detailed recollection of power struggles and triumphs over throughout Florence’s history. Even if you think that you know everything about the city and have done all of the alternative museums - this tour WILL provide you with something you haven’t seen before!
It's hard to know what to make of this tour. It was like someone turned on a fire hydrant full of historical facts that were all about Florence but otherwise unrelated to one another. The tour guide kept jumping from one thing to the next, it wasn't clear if the items were supposed to be related or not. It was really just confusing and frustrating.
I loved this so much. Ok it was 4 years ago but was booking another and saw I could review. This was the maiden “tour” for me on Viator and now I do them all over the world. Don’t forget to tip your operator. This was chanting at sunset and full of amazing facts about fashion houses, medieval events and incredible secrets. Loved it !
Valentina led us through history with unheard stories from distant or more recent past which made us discover a different city. The gelato at the end was delicious
Tour Guide does not have the type of voice to be a speaker. A lot of mumbling, a lot of chatter about unimportant things to the tour. We left the tour after about 15-20 minutes.
Best tour guide ever. Annette M did a fantastic job. Good pace, perfect English, brought medieval Florence to life with her stories. This tour not for handicapped people due to travel path of tour. Remember Florence was not built during disability compliance laws! Would take any tour she gives for I know it would be GREAT!
Super knowledgeable and charismatic guide and great information. Gets you off the beaten track. Gelato a bonus!
Our guide, Melania, helped us to understand Florence (Firenze) and to put together all the information we had gathered from three days in the city. She showed us the details of medieval life in Florence but also connected the medieval period to the Renaissance and to the city as it is now. Passion, depth of knowledge, and attention to the group -- all made this an excellent tour.
Our guide was fabulous. Really knew her stuff and very passionate about Florence. Really interesting tour and the best gelato in town at the end. Highly recommended.
What a different way of seeing Florence! I couldn’t commend our guide Vanessa enough! She was very engaging, enthusiastic and passionate about bringing us through the streets of Florence and she was very knowledgeable about the history of the city which was very apparent when she delivered it to us!!. Highly recommended!!!
This tour was informative but not really what we were expecting . Our guide was very pleasant and certainly knew her history of the florentine dynasties , however these were explained in great detail and I feel shorter explanations would have kept the group more engaged. It would also have been better to hear a little more about some more buildings in Florence , so more buildings and shorter stories of the Medici family .
On a very hot day, an evening tour is a great choice. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had interesting stories at each stop. Having gelato at the end was a nice treat as well:
Our tour guide Melania was the best! She was knowledgeable and entertaining! The Gelato at the best was an extra treat!
We really wanted to find out more about the history of the city and the tour did not disappoint! We went in the evening which we would recommend as it was very hot when we were there (early July).
This was by far the best tour I've ever been on. Angelo was so genuinely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the historical dirty laundry of this city, that I felt like I was listening to hot gossip at a hair salon. Highly recommend!
I’ve been travelling around Europe for 6 weeks now and done quite a few tours, this definitely is the best one I’ve done (sorry to all previous tours hah) And it’s honestly all put down to the tour guide himself, Angelo was an outstanding. He was knowledgeable, hilarious and kept everyone interested throughout the tour. I can’t thank him enough for making my first day in Florence so memorable. Even if you’re not a fan of medieval history you will seriously not be disappointed by this tour. It had so many interesting facts and stories and Angelo just made it all fun and exciting to listen to. He had some great puns as well throughout the tour that had everyone laughing all night. A seriously amazing tour guide! THANK YOU SO MUCH ANGELO! I’m so bummed I’ve already got tours booked for the rest of my stay in Florence because I would have loved to have done another tour with Angelo!!
This tour was amazing! Our guide told us beautiful stories about the history of Florence. One particular story involved the fight of two families, like in Romeo and Juliet. I will not give away the ending of the story, but it involved love. Our guide also used hilarious facial expressions, like a true actress. So, even if you don't like history, you will definitely be entertained by her. And the tour ended near a picturesque bridge, with a few street bands nearby.
The best was to start your trip to Florence. Alessia delivered a first class tour, providing interesting facts, whilst navigating the streets of Florence. Alessia commitment to her task and dry sense of humour, made this a very enjoyable first evening for us. Finished with a Gelato at Da Angelo Gelateria. We were setup for a great stay in Florence.
Melania was our group tour guide and she did a very good job. This our 2nd trip to Florence and we got great historical knowledge of the area we’ve visited previously. Mel was enthusiastic and humorous. I would recommend this tour.
This is a nice little tour that takes you around quite a bit of the old city, with lots of interesting tales about its most important medieval families. It gives you a nice glimpse of how life was at the time and it's a great way to learn where some of the key sites are and see them when they're not surrounded by tourists.
We have visited Florence before and wanted to experience a different perspective of the city. Our guide showed us places we would have not seen otherwise. The gelato we had is by far the best gelato. This place has had many rewards. Santa Maria Gelateria.
What a wonderful way to learn about a city with as much depth as Florence. Our guide, Melania, unlocked hidden treasures in her home town with such passion and knowledge. We were transported from the Medici's to World War 2 and the olive tree that symbolises hope after the tragedy in 1993. She gave clues as to how the Florentines view the world and how to order gelato (flavours vs scoops). Best way to spend and evening. Thank you!
A really entertaining and interesting walk through the city. It was great to see some of the big touristy areas after hours when they weren't crawling with tourists, and the stories about the history of the families of Florence were really interesting and well-delivered.
The tour guide was very informative. This tour made our experience of Florence even better. Learning the history made the city more personal. I highly recommend this tour. You won't be disappointed.

A great evening walk with Francesca - the insider stories which make these tours worthwhile - Francesca had a great knack of making the stories come alive. And finishing up with a lesson on how to select top quality gelato and then enjoying one. Great time had by all...

Tour was a little bit overpriced for the information given, but still learned a few things! Maybe because it was so hot, we were getting antsy at the stops...

Angelo A. yes, with an A gives a great tour for people who enjoy mystery, history, and humor. You start at the Palazzo Strozzi with an introduction to the power players of Florence. Angelo A is a captivating storyteller and it's easy to travel back in time with him. You'll snake through Florence with Angelo's stories of the Medicis and the rise and fall of Florence.

He will show you where Florence was re-built after World War II. You won't be able to tell until you know. You'll cross the river and wander through the Oltranro with more stories about the legends of Florence. Angelo A. is irreverent, subversively funny, and fiercely passionate about his city. Great tour that ends with good, cheap gelato.

We enjoyed this walking tour which gave us insight into the city’s midevil history. Our guide (sorry, forgot her name) was a great storyteller. Would recommend.
Stefano was an excellent guide and story teller. He was very knowledgeable and his passion for his work was evident throughout. Very engaging and would recommend.

Stephano shared his incredible knowledge of Florence. The nighttime tour was one to remember.

A terrific way to see Florence and learn some of the more intriguing stories in the city's history. Our guide was excellent - knowledgeable and entertaining.

Medieval Florence walking tour was great. Our tour guide knew all the ins and outs of Florence proper and kept everyone interested. She was knowledgeable and it was fun to hear her individual stories about the sights.

A truly enjoyable experience led by our guide who gave a lot of information in the most compelling manner.

Angelo made this tour come alive and kept us all engaged in the mysterious side of Florence! He's a great story teller with a wonderful sense of humor, going above and beyond our expectations. We appreciated the little known facts and their link to the 'great' families that established Florence as a power. We highly recommend this tour!!

Interesting tour of the back streets of Florence with stories of Medici intrigue along the way and ended superbly with a ver good gelato. Tour was a little too long to do on an empty stomach. I should have had an early dinner.
